Thank you for posting! I did not expect that everyone would agree with me. As an MT, I respect the thoughts and feelings of my fellow MTs and enjoy many of the discussions on this board, both those relating to the medical field and otherwise. I was really hoping for more of a response, from either side of the issue. There is a pill form (synthetic THC) called Marinol, but from what I understand it is not as effective and/or has adverse side effects (I know, smoking it has adverse side effects too). I have also heard about the possibility of vaporizing it rather than smoking it, but I don't know a lot about how that compares. There have been some studies done in regards to driver impairment issue and, to a degree, I believe that it has been found much safer than driving under the influence of alcohol. Apparently pot smokers tend to slow down and drive more carefully, whereas drunk folks oftentimes donto a degree, I believe there has been some delayed reaction or other adverse findings associated with a significantly high level in the blood. I know I have a lot more to say about this, but just realized I have to leave in four minutes to pick up my son and I am not ready to go, but thanks again for posting!

My daughters are in their earlier 20s but incidents like this is still familiar. I have called parents and it just made it worse.The parents know what happened since the school called them. See what the school does first. Ask to have your son Yes you should have been called but at least they thought what the little girl did warranted a phone call home and did not ignore it. The school may be giving warnings to the parents of this little girl.

I was in a very similar situation. I've realized over time that my spirit had been broken by that man and my children's spirits were broken as well. We divorced 10 years ago and it's been very difficult. My children have told me recently how glad they were we divorced. Children know what's going on and understand much more than we realize. Please see a lawyer and get your children and yourself into counseling. It won't be easy, but believe me, you'll never regret it. JMHO.

I work in an elementary school in Ohio. With a lot of hard work we have pretty much removed junk food from our menus. Just today we served Chef Salads for one of our choices. The kids love them. As one first grader said My mouth is watering just looking at my salad!. We have a lot of freash fruit and vegetables too.Please let your school system know your concerns. There really is no reason to serve sodas and they should be removed. I do serve ice cream, but once or twice a week. We laugh sometimes when they call us their Lunch Teachers. When I ask why, they usually say because I teach them how to eat right. As far as the grandmother who brought home food from the kitchen, I hate to tell you but that is stealing!

The scenario is...a husband and wife who are limited financially. The husband is between jobs but gets a small unemployment payment each week. The wife works every day. They are driving somewhere and stop to get gas in their car and she asks him how much he is going to put in. He says ten dollars. She hands him $20 and tells him not to just get $10, but to go ahead and put more in, then she thinks about it and hands him $10 more and says just go ahead and get $40, and maybe it will last us through the week. He goes to the pump and pumps in $30!! Because she was looking at the gas pump to see if he was about finished and ready to go, she sees that he only pumped in $30. When he gets in the car, he doesn't say anything to her about the amount he got, and as he starts to leave the station he notices that she is angry! He realizes why and starts to tell her that he decided to keep the $10 to put gas in HIS car at home a little bit later. She feels like he cheated her in some way by taking the 30 and using it, but saving his own 10 (no matter what the reason) because when they originally pulled up to the gas station, he was planning to use the 10 he had and nothing more, yet after she voluntarily offered him the 30, he didn't use his 10 at all, and didn't even tell her that he was going to do it that way. This has caused a really big fight between them that she says is rocking their marriage. They are at the point of not speaking to each other over this! What is your opinion about this story? btw, this isn it's a lady I talk to on another forum (some back ground information on him...he is notorious for getting 5 and 10 dollars worth of gas at a time, and having to keep stopping for gas many times because that much just doesna few dollars worth! She gets really upset with him for doing it this way and says that he should take the total amount that he will be getting in small increments and put that whole amount in at once. She says it will go further)

just to be safe. I have Bellfull feeling on the left side of my face with numbness and tingling, and my left eye was twitching like mad and the center of my tongue was numb for several days. The following afternoon, it was full blown. My mom isa massage therapist and she said that having a vigrous or deep tissue massage can definitely get blood flowing and so this may be a side effect of that, but to definitely seek a medical opinion just to be safe. Need opinion on hardwood floor vs linoleum [2008-07-10]
We hope to put new flooring down in the house soon. I really like the look of linoleum in the kitchen. We are having a hard time deciding on a carpet color. A light neutral color or maybe a lightergreen would be nice but any lighter color will show everything I We have a really dark burgundy carpet now. Although I don We thought ofputting hardwood floors down but not sure if we want to put it in the kitchen too. At this point, if you want to salvage the relationship, DEMAND the 3 of you (and possibly the ex) get into family therapy. Y'all are not going to be able to fix these problems on your own. If DH refuses to consider therapy, you need to consider getting out. I personally don't see things going well if y'all don't get help. His temper scares me too and he has blinders on. I can understand that he loves his kid and doesn't want to put him thru more stress (i am a divorced mother of 2 with a new husband too), but he is bending over backwards so much that his behavior is going to cause lasting problems in that child. I think this can be a little tricky with kids. Children's imaginations are developing and they are learning so many new things, not to mention they do not always know the meaning of things or understand reasons for the way things may be done. Adults on the other hand, I think their dreams do mean something. I think it is their subconscious talking to them. Things they regress coming to the surface. I know I have had some kooky dreams before and they seem to take place when I am struggling with something. I wouldn't put too much into it with an 8 yr old, I have a child who is 10, sometimes they just have bad dreams at that age. If it is something that happens regularly or your heart tells you your child is struggling with something emotionally, it might be worth looking into therapy.

I've been in favor of other situations in which people are free to develop on an internal time clock rather than one imposed externally & in that regard there's probably something to this, but the siblings following the first probably got the idea to continue for a long time from watching, so there's definitely a bias there. Would be interesting for someone to design a study comparing long-time thumb-suckers with children weaned at a later age. This woman would probably say that the experience of breastfeeding can't be duplicated or substituted with a bottle or a plastic nipple because the emotional part of it would be lost. I don't know. I guess it depends on the family involved. I remember on Six Feet Under, how Lisa & Nate were letting Maya sleep in their bed until she decided she didn't want to any more. I think there's just a whole movement out there comprised of people with similar ideas, & until someone does a long-term study, I guess I'd have to say any suggestion that it's out-&-out wrong is just conjecture or has a cultural bias.

Don I know they may seem like a great deal, but usually those items are only $20 to $50 less than they normally would be. The aggravation of trying to get it isn I generally go for the smaller deals -- like the cool PJs on sale and the board games or DVDs on sale. These are great sales. One year, I got 3 Fisher Price/Hasbro games for my 5-year-old for $3 each. DVDs were only $5 each. There were3-piece fleece PJs for $9. These are best deals in my opinion. I Then I spent the next month trying to find one anywhere for my kid for Christmas. I go out early on Black Friday for the excitement and some bargains, but never the big ticket stuff. I have that bought before then and stored away safe and sound. To me, it's like tailgating -- the thing that gets me into the spirit of the season!

I have been in your shoes. Last year my husband died unexpectedly at age 56, I literally woke up one morning and he was dead in our bed next to me (aneurysm). That started a downhill spiral . . . . since then I I canhow depressed III am working now and starting to pull myself up out of the dark hole I've been in. The poster above is right. You need to see a doctor. I found out that most major health systems have programs for those of us with no insurance and no money. Call their financial offices and just tell them point blank you need to be seen and you have no insurance. They will not refuse you. I found a clinic near my house that is part of a largehospital. I was able to see a doctor for a physicalandget my annual Pap and mammogram done at no charge. They gave me samples of my medications (I have asthma) for a few months until I had insurance again. They prescribed an antidepressant which worked wonders and they gave me that as samples each month. Move closer to your family. You My family has been supportive of all the decisions I Spend time with yourgrandchild, kids can make you feel so much better.If you I did. I didn Forjust myselfI was given 174.00 a month for food and it helped outtremendously. I know it You may be hesitant to take free medical care or ask for food benefits, but remember THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY and you will get back on your feet. It may take a while, but you will make it. I am a very caring person. I have an extreme soft spot for animals. Dogs especially. I have a stray that was apparently dropped off here, and he is a big dog. My husband said he is a Catahoula Kur dog. He is such a sweetheart, but he can aggravate you to death. He is bad about running in the house when you open the door, and he is so big I can't hardly get him out. I have had to literally drag him by his feet out the house. As annoying as that is I can't be mean to him. I feed him everyday and talk to him and pet him. I don't need another dog but I feel so bad for him. I feel like he needs a home and and someone to care for him. So I guess I am stuck with him. I don't have the heart to take him to the pound. I just can't do that. My husband loves dogs too but he says I am just ridiculous. He thinks I treat them like people. I just see it as they are living breathing animals and they feel. There are some people who say I wouldn't feed the dogs that belonged to the guy. I could NEVER let those dogs starve. That is the thing, I think the guy knows what a softie I am and he knows I will not let them do without and he takes advantage of it. This guy, by the way, is single and fully capable financially of feeding and caring for the dogs. He just is lazy and doesn't want to be bothered when he gets home from work. It isn't my place to care for his dogs but I can't let them starve either. I don't know. I am caught between a rock and a hard spot.

She betrayed you by lying, not by seeing your ex, that is HER problem if she wants a second-hand loser, but friendship is a sacred bond, I am sure you can forge some newer, better friendships, can you ever feel any confidence in this woman again? I have never met a person with a 99.6 percentile IQ. Now that you explained all what comes with it, I see it quite differently and I agree that people with an IQ of 125-140 are the most fortunate. Because they go with the flow, they are smart, they fit in , they are not 'different.' Being a beauty queen is also not always a bliss, too intelligent, too beautiful, too rich, ect., it's not good. But it should not make you unhappy or even suicidal.

a great depression. Well about the questions. My mom is queen of stocking up. I do some too. But not like her. I need to do it more. But the things you stock up on are like mostly things that will stay good a while like can items and flour and corn meal and cooking oil and cereals. Just look at the dates and see when it expires so you can see how long it will stay good. Canned items you have a few years usually. Stock up on drinks, tea, coffee, sugar. My mom puts sugar, flour, and corn meal and rice and things like that in stock piles in her freezer. It will keep a long time in there. What my mom does and me too is look in the sale paper at the grocery store and when something goes on sale and is a good deal buy plenty. Like one time they put hamburger helper on sale for $1 a box and my mom bought 10 of them. Just look for good cheap deals and stock up. Toilet paper too. Paper towels. Soap. Whatever. Just when you catch sales get a little here and there and put it up. Don't go spend a fortune in one day. As far as shortages of food I have no idea.

Why is is that one gets immediately insulted if one says something that is not readily accepted by the posters? We were talking about IQ scores and not about the complications that hinder people to take full advantage of their intelligence. There are so many excuses brought up if somebody is not able to take full advantage of one's intelligence. This is either a sickness of some sort or also a kind of stupidity. I disagree with the suggestion that the smarter people are the less happy they are. Why should intelligence make us unhappy? This borders on sickness. This should not be, then they should consult a psychologist or psychiatrist. I wanted to explain that intelligence should not make us unhappy. If it does, then something is not right with this person. Our intelligence should bring us positive things not negative things. If somebody is highly intelligent and he cannot use it in a positive way, this is also a kind of stupidity or he has an emotional problem. I reject also the opinion that alcoholism is an 'inherited' disease. Whatever all this studies say, I think that alcoholism is a self-inflicted' disease. How can a person who destructs himself be intelligent? And this is also a sin. Nowadays the parents, and ESPECIALLY the mother, are blamed for everything that goes wrong with the children.

and I dread this day. lol I would run down to the nearest best buy and see what they offer as far as packages with updates. I know they have such things. Haven't bought one myself but know of people who have. Then, I would sit down with him and let him know that it's normal for a boy to be curious but that he needs to give things a little time. I would also discuss the dangers of the internet. i.e. purchasing things you don't want to purchase, crazy weird people, etc. 9 is very young in my opinion but kids are exposed to so much these days it doesn't really surprise me. He will be learning about these things in school very soon, not the way he wants to lol, or maybe suggest that you can get some videos for him to watch if he is interested. Usually the school will allow you to check them out and sometimes they are available through your library. I know this because our son's school mentioned it if the parent's wanted to view the same video as the kids or wanted additional resources for kids with questions. Around that same age my son started asking a LOT of questions just because of commercials and things he picked up on television. We had the talk and told him that he could talk to us any time, write a letter, make an appointment with a counselor or his pediatrician, or whatever he wants if he is embarrassed, etc. Since he has continued to ask questions openly. I think most of it is that the parent's don't make it weird.

Heat Surge electric fire place [2008-11-09]
I posted a few weeks ago about an article I saw for a Heat Surge electric fireplace with a wooden mantle built by the Amish. Well I received it about 1.5 wks ago and I must say that it is absolutely beautiful! It is virtually noiseless, I seriously cannot hear it running at all. The brightness of the flame is adjustable and it has a low and a high heat setting. Best of all, it works! It does exactly what I had planned on and keeps the back of my house at a reasonable tempurature during the night so I do not have to worry about keeping the wood stove in the front going full blast all night. The kids turned it on one evening when they were playing pool and they actually ended up turning it off because it got to warm. So in my opinion, if you want something that is beautiful, well built, safe, and does provide more than enough heat for a room or two (mine is between the family room/kitchen which is all one long room) then it is absolutely worth the money.

I posted a few weeks ago about an article I saw for a Heat Surge electric fireplace with a wooden mantle built by the Amish. Well I received it about 1.5 wks ago and I must say that it is absolutely beautiful! It is virtually noiseless, I seriously cannot hear it running at all. The brightness of the flame is adjustable and it has a low and a high heat setting. Best of all, it works! It does exactly what I had planned on and keeps the back of my house at a reasonable tempurature during the night so I do not have to worry about keeping the wood stove in the front going full blast all night. The kids turned it on one evening when they were playing pool and they actually ended up turning it off because it got to warm. So in my opinion, if you want something that is beautiful, well built, safe, and does provide more than enough heat for a room or two (mine is between the family room/kitchen which is all one long room) then it is absolutely worth the money.

I didn't mean to make you feel like your opinion wasn't wanted or valid. Like you said, I believe the OP wanted both sides, just discussing an alternate view point and really looking for more info on your point of view. It's good to have info from people that have different ideas. Something like dosing is not something I have thought about and it completely makes sense. I believe as part of the vote it stated that growing it yourself, for medical reasons, would also be legal - unless I am remembering incorrectly and someone please feel free to correct me. That would bring a valid point of dosing and if you have family members whose to say they aren't going to take a little here and there without medical necessity. Overall I am basically just speaking from experience of watching a family member die of cancer and take all the meds possible without relief and often wondered if this would have been a viable option for their comfort. Had I known where to get it, I probably would have gotten it for them illegally - but I would have had no clue where to begin with such a search. Yes, that's a lot of emotion going in to a big decision but I think emotion is a big part of medical treatment too.

There are a lot of drugs out there that are, in my opinion, worse than marijuana as far as addictive qualities and doctor's prescribe those drugs routinely and easily for things such as back pain which is not life threatening but can be debilitating. I think it would be much easier to hold standards to legal medical use marijuana than it would to criminalize alcohol and the numerous other prescription drugs that are out there and abused.

Ha ha I actually have no problems with men/boys with long hair. I looks like a fine boy too. VICKS VAPO RUB .....INTERESTING!! During a lecture on Essential Oils, they told us how the foot soles can absorb oils. Their example: Put garlic on your feet and within 20 minutes you can Some of us have used Vicks Vapo rub for years for everything from chapped lips to sore toes and many body parts in between. But I don 100% of the time, although the scientists who discovered it aren night time coughing in a child (or adult, as we found out personally), put Vicks Vapo rub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. Works 100% of the time and is more effective in children than even those very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly. Just happened to tune in A.M. Radio and picked up this guy talking about why cough medicines in kids often do more harm than good, due to the chemical makeup of these strong drugs so, I listened. It was a surprise finding and found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly. My wife tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks ago and it worked 100%! She said that it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her, coughing stopped in a few minutes and believe me, this was a deep, (incredibly annoying) every few seconds uncontrollable cough, and she slept totally cough-free for hours every night that she used it. Why do new socks come in a ziploc package??? *someone mentioned that a while back but I just noticed it today Why did the waittress come by and ask us this morning if we were going to want more to drink when our drinks were nearly empty and we were just half way through the our plate of food??? ...well duh!! ...and then why did she ask dh a few minutes later if he was going to be needing his fork when he had finished his first plate of food, laid it on his napkin and was getting up to go get some fruit at the food bar??? *guess they didn't want us to eat more than one plate. LOL ....and why tonight after church when we stopped at Dairy Queen and I order a chicken strip basket and asked for some Sweet and Sour sauce did the girl ask me if I didn't want my gravy??? What does that have to do with sweet and sour sauce. LOL
