survivor [2007-12-20]
I'm a lumpectomy survivor and I'd say anything that opens in the front and is easy to get in and out of. Fortunately, I didn't have to have a mastectomy but I would assume there will be frequent exams during the postop course and probably painful to raise arms, if able to at all. I personally liked pajamas with top that buttoned in front - don't have to get completely undressed and easy to get in and out of. Best wishes to your friend. Will say a prayer for her.

Just one?? Survivor sm [2007-09-15]

Miscarriage survivor question for others who have been through this...sm [2007-05-29]
How did you get through the time period when your baby was due? I lost my little angel at 11 weeks and the baby was due mid-June. Both my husband and myself have had good and bad days since the miscarriage but I I just about burst into tears when walking into Target tonight I saw a lady that looked like she was around the stage of pregnancy I should have been at. Any advice to keep the sanity?

Anyone a Survivor fan? [2006-12-14]
Who do you pick for the final 3?

I'm embarrassed to say this, but [2008-11-18]
we usually eat out at least 3 if not 4 nights a week. Always eat out on Fridays and Saturdays and then usually Tuesday and Thursday nights. I generally cook a large family meal on Sunday with enough leftovers to last through Monday. Tuesday night we either order in and Wednesdays we have breakfast for dinner -- my kids love that one. Thursdays we usually order in because it We usually eat out Friday nights because we go to get groceries (I don Saturday we We When it was a 15-minute drive to town, I planned our meals ahead of time and usually only ordered once a week or once every 2 weeks and we only ate out on Saturdays. We seemed to have picked up these extra 2 nights of ordering in out of convenience (a nicer word than laziness). Oh the cost -- I have 3 kids and a hubby. On the nights we order in, we spend about $25 to $30 (saving because of no drinks or appetizers). When we eat out, the bill is usually around $50. So altogether, I guess I spend about $155 a week on eating out -- WOW/YIKES! Thanks for making me realize that. I think it

Okay, here's what I see in your message [2008-10-29]
1. I It sounds to me that maybe his brother feels inferior to your DH. 2. When told he should be prepared if he gets drafted he said oh no they wouldnThere is no draft anymore. Nobody is automaticaly an officer just because they work for a prestigious company. (Another way the brother sounds quite inferior to your husband). 3. Why do you live in that state you do? Only bumpkins live there. That's totally ignorant. 4. Why do you keep moving? Have you done something illegal and are trying to hide? (Weve been at the same address for 2 years. That makes no sense. 5. You should be happy is O gets in, you When DH said what in the world makes you think I donyou do? (I think itHe's showing how inferior he feels again. He wants that check himself. 6. You know your just stup!d because you voted for GW. When DH said to him what makes you think we voted for him? He just said you didn We all thought you voted for him. DH said, no I didn:Just trying to stir up political trouble. 7. He made a comment about there might be a bloody war coming in the middle east and then said Oh I. DH said well no, why would you say that. Then the little *(% changes the subject.Might be a bloody war in the middle east? Where's he living? He doesn't know about Iraq and Afghanistan? Shows his ignorance again. .... but his brother doesn All he wants to talk about is sports (which DH hates sports) or who the Survivor or American Idol winner is.He lives in a small world, has a small mind, and if I were your husband, Idwell onpettiness (sp) or ignorance. I think you husband's family is just jealous of you guys and what you've accomplished in your lives and his brother is trying to get your husband down to his level.

Who needs them [2008-10-28]
Yesterday I was saddened beyond words. Who needs enemies with family like this. DH was talking to his half brother (15 years younger than DH) and these are some of the statements brother made to him. First let mesayhis brother is from a second marriage. MIL hates to acknowledge her3 kids from her first marrage. She has always felt they are inferior to her youngest. They live in a different state so we don So here is what his little punk half brother said to him. Even though it is brought on by political talk, this is more of a family issue post so didncomments (whichwere spoken with fake southern accent). 1. I'm not dumb, I went to a University (husband went to state colleges). 2. When told he should be prepared if he gets drafted he said oh no they wouldn't draft me, I work for a prestigious company and I went to a University and if I was drafted I would automatically be an officer, I wouldn't have to do all the other stuff the uneducated ones do. 3. Why do you live in that state you do? Only bumpkins live there. 4. Why do you keep moving? Have you done something illegal and are trying to hide? (Weve been at the same address for 2 years. 5. You should be happy is O gets in, you When DH said what in the world makes you think I donyou do? (I think it's odd that he didn't even ask DH what he does). 6. You know your just stup!d because you voted for GW. When DH said to him what makes you think we voted for him? He just said you didn We all thought you voted for him. DH said, no I didn 7. He made a comment about there might be a bloody war coming in the middle east and then said Oh I. DH said well no, why would you say that. Then the little *(% changes the subject. In the past we have been told that only the stup!d uneducated people go into the military (we were both in the military - me for 3 years and DH for 12 years. Husband also has an IQ of around 129, but he has always been told he is inferior (not in those exact words) because he didnUniversity. DH told him I wanted to go to this place or that and if mommy daddy could pay the way for me too I would have been able to go(not in those exact terms) and then his brother got upset and was trying to say DH was saying he was stup!d. Then his mom got in on it and told DH he's picking on him and jealous, etc. I just canhis own brother could say such hurtful things. I could understand if its someone you donItthat he He said their true colors really came out. And if you want to talk about intelligence DH will bring up subjects like what All he wants to talk about is sports (which DH hates sports) or who the Survivor or American Idol winner is. It is just really sad to be treated like your nothing by your own family. We have decided we will not be answering the phone from now on if he calls and just not talking to him for a long long time and let him think about what he did. Me particularly, I don Just very very sad. Okay, Sorry so long, just felt heartbroken and had to get it out.

In a perfect world [2008-09-05]
What is your idea of a perfect world - it can be anything from the craziest of crazy ideas to very simple ones. Here's my ideas: 1. No more pharmaceutical commercials. Let our doctors tell us what meds we need, not us tell our doctors we think they should give us. 2. Pharmaceutical companies would not rule the doctors (okay sort of part #1, but a little different). 3. No more stup!d commercials that demoralize our intelligence like the pepto bismol commercial, free credit report, and about 95% of the other commercials. 4. Every child would be considered a gift from the gods (whatever one you believe in), and their lives would be treated as precious as they are and there would be no killing or abuse of young children. If parents cannot handle having children they would bring them to the nearest safe place and say I canthem (instead of killing and burying them out where no one can find them). Then couples who can 5.The government would tell us the truth about why they are spraying chemicals (chem trails) into the atmosphere and poisoning all of us. 6. The goverment would tell us what I think we are all adults and can handle the truth. 7. Hollywood actors actresses would quit announcing to everyone all the lavish money they are spending on themsleves (mansions,$12,000 coffee table, etc) and instead we would hear that Brad Angelina spent that $12,000 to help the hungry and needy. 8. They would turn all the abandoned buildings into housing for the homeless. 9. People wouldnonly because of what political party they belonged to, and politicians would keep the promises they make while they are campaigning (haven't met one yet that did). 10. Lawyers would not be trying to re-write the constitution. 11. All people would be considerate of their neighbors and not mow their lawns after 8 pm in the evenings or before 8 am in the mornings. 12. Everyone could pick whatever time you wanted to start working and quit working. 13. We would have an alternative reliable transportation method instead of plane, train, or automobile similar to the transporter you see in Star Trek. So if you live in Washington state, you could still go to Maine for dinner and be back by 9pm. 14. There would be no more gangs. The people who want to be part of a gang would now be part of an Infantry unit. They would learn out to use weapons but they would use them responsibly. 15. There would be no more bullies in the school system. 16. There would be no animal abuse. Every person would take care of animals and love them, and if caught being cruel to an animal you get branded or something so that everyone in public would know that person is cruel to animals and they would be ashamed of what they've done. 17. No more reality shows. Enough with American Idol and Survivor. 18. Scam artists would not try to swindle money out of people (especially the elderly). 19. Everyone would grow food in their yards and neighbors share with others.

thank you [2008-01-01]
I appreciate your wisdom. This is certainly one of the most stressful situations I have ever been involved in. Thank you for realizing that the biracial word had nothing to do with my feelings of prejudice. I would do anything possible for these kids. I love them like my own. I am not, however, going to risk losing my job and home trying to take care of them. I can take one and that is it. I prefer to take the baby boy, as I know he is a special needs child and I want to be sure he gets the help he needs. The 2-year-old will be a fighter and a survivor. Although she is the joy of my life, I can't take two, either financially or otherwise. At least there are people like you who have some experience with this and know what I'm dealing with. I'm blown away that someone would bring racism into it or judge my feelings on whether or not I REALLY want any of them. THANKS AGAIN for seeing the real issue here. I appreciate it.

Have a friend who used her husband's sticker. He really was disabled and stayed at home (sm) [2008-01-01]
so therefore she gladly took over use of his tags for her purposes. When he died she was aggravated when they wouldn Guess she thought they were survivor's benefits.

Another cat story . . . [2007-12-02]
BARTLETT, Tenn. -- Tabitha Cain has fed a feral cat she calls Wild Oats for several years, but now she's thinking of changing its name to Survivor. That's because she said the cat survived for 19 days with a peanut butter jar stuck on its head. We tried to get her, but being the type of cat you can said Doretha Cain, Tabitha's mother. The family saw the cat several times and tried in vain to catch her. She disappeared for a week, and the Cains feared the worst. I thought she was going to die with that jar on her head, Tabitha Cain said. They found the once chubby cat on Wednesday, too thin and weak to escape. They caught her with a fishing net and used some oil to get the jar off her head. They gave her water and treated her wounds and on Friday she began to eat again. I Doretha Cain said. Dr. Gerald Blackburn, a veterinarian at Gentle Care Animal hospital in Memphis, said he's heard similar stories of pets getting trapped for days or even weeks at a time and surviving. Blackburn said the cat may have lived off of its excess fat, but Doretha Cain had another explanation. God will take care of animals just like people because that cat is really a miracle, she said.

Again, hope no one gets the wrong idea.... [2007-11-17]
NOT soliciting for stuff, just ideas, posted info per Survivor's request.

Love Hell's Kitchen [2007-07-09]
used to watch 90210, I'm finally sick of watching re-runs. My new guilty pleasure is One Tree Hill on Soap Net. Love Survivor.

Definitely!! (spoiler alert) [2007-05-10]
I donJacob thing was weird. I don't know quite what to make of that. And I don't know what kind of game Jack is playing at, hiding things from his own people and taking Juliet's side. Did he feel so betrayed by seeing Kate and Sawyer together that he turned against all of them? He used to be the glue that held everything together. Now it all seems to be falling apart. I had been enjoying most of the new episodes, but I donSurvivor-ish to me (I donSurvivor and from the little bit I know about it, I really really don't like it). I guess we'll just have to see....

I stand corrected. Here's the info from the Social Security website... [2007-05-03]
Even if he or she has never worked under Social Security, your spouse at full retirement age can receive a benefit equal to one-half of your full retirement amount and can qualify on your record for Medicare at age 65. (If your spouse will receive a pension for work not covered by Social Security such as government or foreign employment, the amount of his or her Social Security benefits on your record may be reduced.) Your spouse can begin collecting the benefits as early as age 62, but the benefit amount will be permanently reduced by a percentage based on the number of months up to his or her full retirement age. Your spouse who is caring for your child who is also receiving benefits can receive the full one-half benefit amount no matter what his or her age is. Your spouse would receive these benefits until the child reaches age 16. At that time, the child's benefits continue, but your spouse's benefits stop unless he or she is old enough to receive retirement benefits (age 62 or older) or survivor benefits as a widow or widower (age 60). If your spouse has also worked under Social Security--If your spouse is eligible for retirement benefits on his or her own record, we will always pay that amount first. But if the spouse benefit on your record is a higher amount, he or she will get a combination of benefits that equals that higher amount. It doesn't matter if your spouse starts getting benefits before, after, or at the same time you do--we will check both records to make sure that your spouse gets the higher amount. If your spouse continues to work while receiving benefits, the same earnings limits apply to him or her as apply to you. If your spouse is eligible for benefits this year and is also working, you can use our earnings test calculator to see how those earnings would affect your spouse they do not affect your benefits or those of any other beneficiaries on your record.) For Medicare, from that section it reiterates what I said... Medicare is health insurance for people age 65 or older, under age 65 with certain disabilities, and any age with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant).

Gloria Gaynor's *I WILL SURVIVE* [2007-05-01]
HEROES by Mariah Carey (where we women become our own heroes)...... Gloria Gaynor's *I Will Survive* has been my survivor song for 40 years nearly. Tina Turner: Better Be Good To Me, Look Me In The Heart, When The Heartache Is Over, Talk To My Heart..and really any song of Tina *S*......Talk about a survivor!!!

Apprentice [2007-04-24]
I loved this show when it first started. I used to be glued to each and every episode but this season I couldn Trump has gotten on my last nerve lately and the candidates this season just didn hold my attention. Then putting his kids in the boardroom didn I tend to like Mark whatshisname though - the guy who thought up all these shows (Survivor, Apprentice, etc.) He is very creative.

yes and they learned more about the shooter [2007-04-17]
Such a shame but in Korea they teach in the schools all kinds of antiamericanism...though he did come here when he was 8 years old...1992. Very said, indeed, and I pray for all the victims, their families, the town of Blacksburg and students, families alike, and for the heroes of this HORRIBLE incident, especially Professor Librescu, an Israeli teacher who helped the kids and died in the end and who was a Holocaust survivor himself. GOD BLESS THEM ALL!

Cancer [2007-02-02]
I had a close relative go through this and I also did work for an oncology doctor for a few months. I would not do the surgery. That is my personal opinion. It is major surgery and you don It is a well-known fact in my state that doctors operate just for the $$$$. I know this is not the case with most, but there are some doctors out there just to make as much $$$$ as they can. My relative was told to have the surgery or die. She didn It has been years and she is healthy. Why be cut up for something that may or may not happen? To each his own, but I would not jump into this without a ton of thought. I wish you good health. I am also a cancer survivor -- cervical. No more surgeries for me. Again there was a doctor only out for money and I looked for another opinion. I had LEEP the cancer is gone and has been gone for almost 5 years. Did you know that if it doesn Wait and see. I did and I am glad I did.
