I do. My little Lily is barely 2 yrs old. She can't stand to be alone. [2007-08-09]
But she doesn't like other cats. I guess she thinks she's human. Our previous cat lived to be 20 yrs old, and for 20 years, she barely noticed that we were in the house. Our new little one isn't cuddly. She doesn't want to climb in your lap or sit right next to you, but she does want to be in the same room. She has a basket on a window sill in my office, and she stays there while I work all day. If I get up to go the bathroom, I will always find her sitting just outside the door when I come out. She follows me all over the house. We recently left her for a week while we were on vacation. The neighbors came and fed her, but Miss Lily was too shy to come out and socialize. When we got home, she could barely stop meowing and won't let us out of her sight. Poor thing must have been traumatized!

Miss Lily is MORE than enough for me lol [2007-05-30]
She has dog aggression issues and went after a guide dog the other day. She's getting slowly better but man....I'm a little burned out with it. She absolutely can't ever be off leash outside our yard. Ever. In fact, I have to tighten her collar up a notch so she can't slip out of it when she is leashed. The other dog, Casey, will be recouping with me until her drains come out and then she will go back to my sister's house.

Curious about perfume/cologne. [2007-05-07]
I want to buy myself a b-day present, new perfume. I need ideas on some light flowery summery ones, nothing heavy. What's your favorite?

If you like something light and flowery try Beautiful by American Beauty. Kohl's carries it. Smells wonderful. I also like Red Door but that is stronger, as well as I hate to say it but its Britney Spears perfume Curious.

Give a sniff at the perfume counter! :) Laura Ashley's #1 is nice. nm [2007-05-07]

Miss Lily is getting more and more dog aggressive the better she feels. We My cats are fed up with her and are fighting back instead of running so that seems to be keeping her in a check a bit more. We have a dog trainer coming over tomorrow to help me with her. Her knee is still swelling occasionally but the NSAIDs seem to be helping. She

I hope the op goes smoothly and she is is soon home and feeling great! Have all the other problems cleared up? Poor thing has been through a rough patch lately but I'm so happy you are a good mom to her!

Miss Lily [2006-11-26]
Well you sound like a good mom to Miss Lily. I think you are setting a good example for your children as far as what compassion and love can do and Lord knows it is what this world needs more of these days. Let us know how she does after her operation.

Miss Lily [2006-11-16]
I'm so glad she's doing better - poor baby has been through a lot. It sounds like she's already endearing herself to you and your family and perhaps she's realizing she finally has a permanent and good home! Good for you for taking such good care of her !!

Could we have an update on Miss Lily? [2006-11-15]
I hope she's feeling a lot better by now.

A good gift for either... [2008-11-19]
is the small cologne/perfume gift sets you can get at the mall stores. they usually have 5-8 small bottles for $20 or so. Sometimes you can also get whatever their free offer is for a sweatshirt or duffle bag with it too. We did this one year for all the nieces/nephews between 14 and 21 and they all said they loved it. It gave them an opportunity to try different things without being stuck with 1 fragrance and it surprisingly lasts a kid a pretty long time because they don't want to smell like that every day but when they go out it is something special. The girl might also like a gift certificate for a makeup counter to get her colors done and skin consultation. That's if her parents allow her to wear make up. I wish someone had given me one of those when I was that age. Most teens don't realize its not the amount of makeup you put on but HOW you put it on that makes the difference.

Rest in peace, Fred! [2008-11-16]
We just put our 22-year-old cat, Fred, to sleep this evening. He had wasted away from 17 pounds to 5 pounds and was too weak to stand or eat. He was a loving companion for the past 22 years and will be missed dearly. Rest in peace, Fred. Benny, Gus, and Lily will be waiting in heaven to greet you with open arms!

FYI [2008-11-11]
This information comes from the Mensa International web site: Mensa was founded in England in 1946 by Roland Berrill, a barrister, and Dr. Lance Ware, a scientist and lawyer. They had the idea of forming a society for bright people, the only qualification for membership of which was a high IQ. The original aims were, as they are today, to create a society that is non-political and free from all racial or religious distinctions. The society welcomes people from every walk of life whose IQ is in the top 2% of the population, with the objective of enjoying each other's company and participating in a wide range of social and cultural activities. Mensans range in age from 4 to 94, but most are between 20 and 60. In education they range from preschoolers to high school dropouts to people with multiple doctorates. There are Mensans on welfare and Mensans who are millionaires. As far as occupations, the range is staggering. Mensa has professors and truck drivers, scientists and firefighters, computer programmers and farmers, artists, military people, musicians, laborers, police officers, glassblowers--the diverse list goes on and on. There are famous Mensans and prize-winning Mensans, but there are many whose names you wouldn't know. The term IQ score is widely used but poorly defined. There are a large number of tests with different scales. The result on one test of 132 can be the same as a score 148 on another test. Some intelligence tests don't use IQ scores at all. Mensa has set a percentile as cutoff to avoid this confusion. Candidates for membership in Mensa must achieve a score at or above the 98th percentile on a standard test of intelligence (a score that is greater than or equal to that achieved by 98 percent of the general population taking the test). As this list suggests, Mensa is a remarkably diverse organization. While Some Mensans noted here are well known, many others lead interesting lives out of the public eye. Geena Davis: Academy-award winning actress, who has starred in The Long Kiss Goodnight, A League of Their Own, Thelma and Louise and Hero. Donald Petersen: A former chairman of Ford Motor Company. While at Ford, Petersen was involved in the development of two of Ford's most successful cars--the Mustang and the Maverick. Marilyn Vos Savant: Listed in the Guinness Hall of Fame for having the worldAsk Marilyn!, a weekly column in Parade magazine. Richard Bolles: Author of What Color is Your Parachute? which at one point had been on The New York Times Best-seller List for 228 weeks. Velma Jeremiah: A retired attorney who graduated fourth in her law school class at the age of 47. She is a former chairwoman of Mensa International. Dr. Abbie F. If Somebody Gives You a Gift? [2008-11-10]
How do you react when somebody gives you a gift that is not to your taste? It could be something for the home that doesnEwww...what were you thinking?. I have one friend in particular that never, ever fails to give me something that I will either donate to Goodwill or re-gift to one of the relatives that I know would just love it.

I live on the Carquinez Strait... at the very northeast corner - sm [2008-10-11]
of San Francisco Bay. The Strait is where the Sacramento River meets up with the northeast bay (San Pablo Bay). There is a big oil refinery up-river in Martinez, and every day these huge oil tankers (like the one in the photo) go by. My side of the Strait is the deeper side, so the big ships are practically in our front yard! There are also tug-boats (my favorites), pleasure craft of all types, barges, kayaks, and sailboats. The other night while I was working at about 1:00 AM, I heard sea-lions barking! Couldn't believe it... I was surprised they came this far in from the ocean. Though on occasion, one has gotten lost and been found in the Central Valley near Stockton or Sacramento. And before I lived here, a humpback whale (which people named 'Humphrey') got lost and swam partway to Sacramento. It's nice living right near the water, because it stays nice all summer, & you don't need air-conditioning. (Yet you don't have to use your heater all summer, like in San Francisco, either!)

A way to help orphaned children in Africa sm [2008-09-01]
http://www.godsgoldenacre.org.uk/ - I read a book this weekend called God which is a biography of a woman, Heather Reynolds, who started a program in the South African province of Kwa Zulu-Natal, in the valley of a 1000 hills. She helps children who have been orphaned primarily due to their parents dying of AIDs. Right now I have children of my own who need me, but when they are adults, if I am physically able, I want to go over and do as much as I can - I am very happy because for the first time, I feel like I know what I am meant to do in this lifetime. In the meantime, they ask people to donate if they can or at least to make people aware of them by posting the link to their site.I grew up very hungry, right here in America, and help came from many sources throughout my childhood. I distinctly remember one group of women from a church who came in and literally filled our cabinets with food. Although the name of this organization is God you don

I got that ad in the mail the other day [2008-04-05]
and threw it away. I won I was wondering how I even got on their mailing list. H said he thinks it was because he bought some perfume for me there 2 Christmases ago. Anyway, this reminded me of a conversation I had on a parenting forumI visit.A good many of us were disgusted at a Neiman Marcus ads that kept popping up. It looked as if they were hiring13 or 14-year-old girls tomodel maternity clothes for them.

answers to chain letters. [2008-03-16]
I donthe gloom and doom onesand start to wonder if the person who sent that really is a friend. I dononeyou can send back though. I want to thank all of you who have taken the time and trouble to send me yoursilly chain letters over the past years. Thank you for making me feel safe, secure, blessed, and wealthy. Because of your concern... I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains. I no longer drink Pepsi or Dr Pepper since the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put Under God on their cans. I no longer drink anything out of a can because I will get sick from the rat feces and urine. I no longer use Saran wrap in the microwave because it causes cancer. I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could get pricked with a needle infected with AIDS. I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a wet dog on a hot day. I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me. I no longer receive packages from UPS or FedEx since they are actually AL Qaida in disguise. I no longer shop at Target since they are French and don't support our American troops. I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a stupid number for which I will get the phone bill from hades with calls to Jamaica, Uganda, Singapore, and Uzbekistan. I no longer eat prepackaged foods because the hormones they contain will turn me gay. I no longer eat KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers. I no longer have any sneakers -- but that will change once I receive my free replacement pair from Nike. I no longer buy expensive cookies from Neiman Marcus since I now have their recipe. I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me. I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl who is about to die in the hospital (for the 1,387,258th time). I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $245,000 that Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program. Yes, I want to thank all of you soooooooo much for looking out for me! I will now return the favor. If you DON'T send this e-mail to at least 1200 people inthe next 60 seconds, a large bird with diarrhea will crap on your head at 5:00 pm tomorrow afternoon. I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend . . .. Life is good...

North Carolina [2008-03-13]
I am from North Carolina. I would make sure I visited the Outer Banks and Kitty Hawk. If it was the right time of the year, I would see The Lost Colony. I just love Hatteras and the lighthouse. North Carolina has some very interesting and beautiful places to see. Also, the Biltmore House in Asheville is very nice, and has beautiful gardens. North Carolina is a wonderful state. Oh, I almost forgot -- the beautiful mountains -- Cherokee, Maggie Valley. Too much to mention.

Get this - my daughter [2007-12-27]
is 38 (only child) and the older she gets the more name brand stuff she wants. Would you believe a Hermes twilley ($150!) and perfume that cost $100! Is she spoiled or what?? But I love doing it!

sm [2007-12-01]
It isn't full of perfume and barely has any scent at all. There is shampoo and conditioner. I only use the conditioner about every third day. Not sure what makes it so different. I just know that when I color my hair, the color lasts longer, my hair seems stronger, grows faster, shiny, and just feels healthier.

only way to go wrong with B&B is if (sm) [2007-11-28]

I need a fork [2007-11-19]
Now that I read this I am really hungry. I usually use flour too and love Southern Cooking. I love food, especially Southern and now I am thinking about bacon gravy and biscuits. There is no White Lily flour here (isn There are some other things you can thicken gravies and sauces with that I have tried including arrowroot and potato starch. They work better for some things. When I make prime rib Imake a mushroomgravy. First I just sauteonion and mushrooms and cook until they carmelize and then add butter andflour and cook until browned, then add dry white wine the juices and bubble them up on medium and then then beef broth or beef or mushroom base to augment the amount of jucies I have and at the end I add a pint or so of cream. Sometimes I add a little garlic, salt and pepper at the end. This is so good that I would rathereat it than the meat! Now I am really hungry.

Yes, thoughts go out to all in CA in the fires. [2007-10-23]
My brother-in-law is in Sylmar, which is in the San Fernando Valley. I think he is too far north of the fires, but if the winds continue, who knows. Going to try and call and see if everything is okay.

Where to Stay in Las Vegas PhillyChick...sm [2007-10-23]
Just wanted to add my 2 cents! We usually stay with my sis when we go to Vegas, but in the past two years we have stayed at the MGM and New York, New York. I really liked the MGM - lots to see inside the casino. We aren The first room we were given at the MGM was very small so we asked for a different room and we got it. Things I like to do in Vegas: visit the Fashion Show Mall on the strip {across the street from Treasure Island}, the Bellagio - the dancing waters, the Forum shops, Eiffel Tower and the shops at the Paris, Fremont Street Experience - the light show is great!, and try to find Elvis impersonators! Nothing can compete with a Nascar Race - I It is beautiful! About a 2 hour drive from Phoenix - I think. And Jerome, AZ, on the way to Sedona is an old western town that is fun too. Oh, almost forgot, The District in Green Valley in Henderson {suburb of Vegas} is a neat place to go to shop also. It is about 20 minutes from the Strip - very easy to get to. Have a great time at the Nascar Race and a great trip!

Christmas is for everybody [2007-10-18]
Sorry I think that Christmas is for everyone. Yes the kids love it but sometimes the kids get sooooooooooooooo much that the adults are forgotten. When you give with resentment it is better not to give. I love shopping for everyone and put a lot of thought and time into it but not much money. I have two nephews and a niece that are grown and married who have children of their own that I am very close to. I buy for them because their kids get so much from Santa, grandparents, parents, etc. and I think of them as my kids and so I buy for them and not the little ones. I spend time with the younger ones (great nephews and nieces) doing Christmas decorations/cookies etc. And some of them are now 19 to 20 and they still remember those special times. As for my stepdaughters, even though their Dad and I are divorced, I still remember them with something that I know that they like, special perfume, lotion, little things that they don They are now 27 and 25 and I still send them things which is more than their Dad does. Anyway, I admit it, I love to get things at Christmas if it is given with love and if someone can I just get tired of hearing Christmas is for kids as I think Christmas is for all -- and to all a good night. But I did hear some resentment in your note which is too bad.

This is my other kitty, adopted 10 months ago. [2007-10-01]
This is Xanadu -a 2-year-old calico Persian. When I first got her (both came from Persian Himalayan Cat Rescue in Mill Valley), I figured she But after 10 months of careful observation and getting to know her really well, I decided she needed a companion. She had a pretty traumatic history with other cats at her original home, one of whom scratched her cornea, so her new friend had to be exactly the right cat. And as always, the people at rescue matched me up with the PERFECT kitty-companion in Charlotte, the one posted below.

You say gag to those old scents from years ago [2007-09-26]
but now walking in a store, in the movies, down the streets, most smelling the same, no one is different, most everyone using the same stinking, so called perfume, they have now. To put your own perfume out now all you have to do is make a movie, make a record, do nothing as in Paris Hilton- so unoriginal. The same goes for clothing lines. See how low your weight can go without starving and start your own clothing line and/or perfume. One of my deceased mother's favorites was White Shoulders and she was 1 classic lady. I only wish I once again could smell that wonderful fragance on her.

Hold on, now - not all old folks have that smell [2007-09-25]
I have an aunt who is 89 and she always smells so good, likes her really nice perfume and never a stinky. She is in 80 group. I am quickly getting to that ole folks age but I also love smelling nice although I don’t do the perfume as I love those nice shower gels.
