Dell Mini [2008-11-07]
With a mini, can you do everything that you can do with a laptop?

Mini-marshmallow shooters. Saw them in a catalog (sm) [2008-10-14]
thought they might be a fun for grandchildren. Will their mom kill me? It says for outdoor fun, but you can imagine they will be shooting them inside at least once. They are pretty good about picking up after themselves though. ANyone have/used these and tell me if I am going to get in hot water if I buy them some. TIA.

give you a confidence boost. Never hurts to go to a highly recommended hair stylist and see what they might suggest to update your look. You could go to one where they do makeup also. Ulta does both. I love to watch What Not to Wear to see how big a change can be made and to get ideas. Sometimes the difference is huge, and they donbeing on the market for nothing, LOL.

are old enough, I will get one from her. I have bought a lot of things for her dogs and do not resent her at all for not coming to see me. I am very emotionally healthy, have a great relationship with Christ as my savior, but actually feel sorry for her that she is missing out on so much because she refuses to leave her dogs. How can that be at all healthy? And you say you don't want to be around your family because they are not dog lovers? So what? Whenever our family gets together we ALL have things that the other person does or doesn't do, but we still love them as PEOPLE. My mom misses out on a lot and I feel for HER. As a Biblical Christian, we are called to love others (she is too), and reach out to others. It says absolutelly nothing about keeping your family and friends out of your lives because they don or because you don't think they love you if they don't accept your dogs. What an enormously selfish way to live your life.

Asian chicken mini skewers [2006-11-15]
Marinate cubed chicken breast, about 2, in Teriyaki sauce with lemon zest overnite in a storage back. Soak wooden (round)toothpicks in water about 30 mintues before skewering. Set oven to 400º. Skewer once piece of chicken per toothpick. Place on lightly sprayed cookie sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes. If you want, heat the left over sauce on the stove for 20 minutes, until reduced. (You must cook it before using it to avoid contamination). Braise chicken skewers with sauce reduction immediately after removing from oven.

There are many rescues for mini pinpins [2006-10-11]
We just purchased a puggle and she has been very gentle, and very smart. Not one accident even in her kennel at night. She is a big baby though and doesn't like to be alone, a lap dog pretty much, but has playful moments too. If you are looking for an indoor dog you might want to check them out or the mini pinpins. Good luck to you, whatever you get, I am a firm believer that like children the parenting is what is going to make the difference in a good dog or bad one. :)

I saw a lady on one of those makeover shows and [2006-10-10]
she had her hair cut into a really great style that made her two tone hair look really trendy. They did put a third color in her hair. She had longer hair than you but perhaps you can have the same thing done to yours only shorter. They layered her hair.

I used to use coupons a lot [2008-11-18]
& had one of those little wallet things with tabs for organizing them. I haven't done that in years. Maybe I should get back to it. There are 2 markets up here, a vons name brands are very expensive in that store. But the produce is always a lot cheaper than at vons.

I can't imagine affording all those meals out, but I have some suggestions sm [2008-11-18]
I usually cook from scratch. My idea of fast food is a can of lentil soup, and I have that about once a month, occasionally twice. I make crockpot soups a lot because I am busy. I will tell you, there is a place that is sort of between a restaurant meal and home cooking. I used to have kids at home, lots of them, and I would get too tired to cook. My answer was to hybrid the dinner, so to speak. You can get Stouffer's lasagne which is good. You can pickup some ready-made stuff in your grocery store deli or freezer case. We liked the frozen Banquet chicken back in the day. I might get that, a box of flavored instant potatoes, potato salad or ready-made mashed to go with it. We might get a bag of salad too. Fresh fruit cups were nice if they were on special. You know, make a nice meal you don't have to 100% cook, but isn't going out. These days, I see that you can get beef tips in gravy, or sliced beef in gravy and other prepared stuff at the store. It just takes looking. It is more expensive than doing it all yourself, but it is much cheaper than going out. You can try another thing that is NOT everyone's cup of tea, and that is OAMC or Once A Month Cooking. This is my favorite website: http://snider.mardox.com/plans.htm I donmini plans using what is on special in a given week. They have breakfast plans, muffin plans, potato plans, chicken, beef, pork plans, ground meat plans, even some dessert plans. With planning, you can do this in bits and pieces. From people who have done far more of this than I have, they tell me that with soup already made, no chopping or messing, they are more likely to make fresh rolls, salad and even a quick dessert...round out any meal because the work is done. Obviously, it saves money.

Fist anniversary confusion...sm [2008-10-31]
Me and my husband's 1st anniversary is coming up on December 15th. I want to do something special, i.e. mini-vacation, fancy dinner at home, dancing, etc. I can't decide on what we should do. Can any of you give me thoughts or ideas or even examples of what you did on your 1st anniversary? Any suggestions helpful and welcome!!! THANKS

how cute! [2008-10-27]
I'm old fashioned and I love your mom's ideas. I could see putting the pacifier on top of little mini cupcakes or just in candy dishes even. Certainly something kids could do too. The bottle idea could double as a gift for mom after the party. Gift certificate for pictures, fantastic idea for the practical person. I have 3 to buy for in the upcoming months and one is a very practical person. Plus, since I have to ship it, I would save on that cost too!

Sweet Potatoes [2008-10-21]
I have never been able to stomach sweet potatoes because every recipe I've sampled has been way too sweet. Canned sweet potatoes smothered in maple syrup or brown sugar and mini marshmallows. YUK! Does anyone have a tried and true recipe that is not so horribly sweet? Maybe I don't like them because I've never had them prepared properly?

Soooo cute! I have a lab/great dane mix... scary to some 'cause he is so big. But he is a big wus [2008-10-14]
Are those mini-pins! A while ago I was running with Walter (my dog) and we came across a lady with 2 mini-pins. Walter wants to meet everyone and the lady said they were friendly so we let them sniff, but all of a sudden they were all over Walter with little tiny flashing teeth. Walter yiped like a little baby and skulked away and the lady said oh my they never do that. Why do they always say that, like it is my big dog Well anyway, just this weekend I saw the mini pins in her car at the market when by coincidence I parked next to it. When I opened my door they were up on the dash and leaping at the crack in the window and snarling and barking at me. I know they could not get to me but I cringed and hustled away. They looked really scary! I swear I felt like they could jump up on me and grab on something like my ears or something and not let go. But I am sure they are sweet... NOT! But it goes to show you never know... they are all animals, after all. And like people all have very distinct personalities, very much formed by their family (the people family, I mean). I could tell the owner of the mini pins was kind of a ---- well you know, not that nice... she left them in the hot car, after all... and they were pretty much a product of their upbringing. I too actually think pits have some of the sweetest dispositions I have ever met in a dog.

Well, it didn't quite go according to plan! LOL [2008-10-12]
My youngest had a game early Saturday morning, ran our errands and then spent a few hours at a festival our town was having (like a mini-fair). We ate, rode rides, played games (he won a live goldfish) and watched the entertainment. Came home, he went to play at a friend's and I relished in the quietness of the house. :) Woke up this morning sneezing, watery eyes, and having to work for the Q so will get a little more motivated for these projects next weekend!

bags [2008-08-20]
Forgot to say that cucumbers, the same as preparation H do shrink puffiness, but I had a makeup tip once in a Victoria just a dot in the corner or just below the corner. It brightens the corner of the eye. It really is a pretty look and brightens the dark look and the corner. The trick is to use it sparingly so it is not obvious.

frozen eggs [2008-07-25]
You can buy frozen egg/biscuit sandwiches in the frozen section of the grocery store (think Jimmy Dean brand)which you can then microwave, so I would assume you could make your own. The worst that could happen is do a trial run of 1 and see how it turns out. Great idea for the kids, not to mention cheaper if you make them yourself. Never thought of it, but may try it for myself! I make my own mini-TV dinners out of leftovers and freeze them and then microwave them which is another good idea in my mind.

SUCCESS !!! :D - (sm) [2008-07-16]
Thanks again for your help. You were right: first turn on water, then power. I just ran my first load, and have just my first load of clean clothes in the dryer (which also works well), all without flooding the apartment, incinerating the clothes or the washer motor, electrocuting myself, or knocking out the power to the entire town. Because of my inherently distrustful nature, though, I WAS prepared for disaster. I had the drain tube weighted down in the sink with a heavy pot, so that it wouldn't jump out of the sink and flood the floor. I kept the slack in the electrical cord up off the floor, just in case. I created a 'floor dam' out of big towels around it, just in case the tub leaked. Finally, I put a wooden stool in front of the washer, so I could stand on it just in case the floor flooded, all he*l broke loose, and I had to somehow get to the cord to disconnect it from the power source without getting myself toasted. Fortunately, none of that extra preparation was needed. I also got online and did my homework about detergents. Good thing I did! Turns out these little mini-guys take only liquid detergent of the 'HE' (high-efficiency), low sudsing type. (I'm SO glad I didn't mistakenly put my regular-sudsing powder into it!) Not only that, but according to my online gurus, the washer only needs one TEASPOON of detergent per load. One teaspoon! Imagine that! One bottle of Wisk or Tide will probably last half a year, at that rate! So HURRAH! No more trips to that filthy, noisy, total RIP-OFF laundrymat! No more wasted time & gasoline! (Except for when I have to wash heavy things like comforters or blankets, that is, but at least that doesn't have to be done that often, especially with those wonderful, lightweight, sheet-like duvet covers!) I can wash sheets, towels & duvet covers in the washer. Now, if I could just learn how to fold fitted sheets! (I always try, then finally give up, and wad them up into a corner somewhere.

I was diagnosed with GAD in 2005. I think everybody's different as far as meds go. SM [2008-05-20]
I am on Effexor XR 150 mg a day and it works wonderfully for me, although when I forget to take my pill, I do get that strange dizzy, buzzy feeling that someone below described. I also have Klonopin if I need it. It's not as strong as Xanax, but it takes the edge off and helps with sleep. I I have always been a worrier ever since I can remember. I bite my nails, but it was always manageable worrying. Then in the fall of 2005, I had a full blown panic attack. It was the worst experience of my life and I hope that I never have to go through it again. I had a gallbladder attack. I new it was my gallblader. I knew I wasn I started feeling lightheaded, dizzy, and like I was in a tunnel. I was at work and someone told me I should go to the employee health nurse. I did and my BP was through the roof, my pulse was 130, and the nurse just ripped that BP cuff off my arm and said you need to be seen in ER and made sit in a wheelchair and wheeled me down there! The irony is the more urgent she acted, the worse my panic got. Finally, it was established that I was not having a heart attack, but still my body was freaking out. I could not calm down. Then I started crying and cried for two weeks straight. I couldn I didn I didn I just basically sat in my house, on my couch for two weeks straight crying and fretting. My doctor tried me on several different medicines including Lexapro and Zoloft, both did nothing for me but make feel nauseous. Then he wanted to prescribe an antipsychotic which made me freak out even more. Being a medical Transcriptionist and knowing about drugs, side effects, etc. was NOT conducive to my anxiety disorder! Finally, I found a female nurse practitioner who was wonderful. She new exactly what I was feeling. Told me her daughter had the same issues and started me on Effexor. I have been panic attack free going on three years. I get what I call mini panic attacks where I can feel myself starting to freak out, but I've taught myself relaxation and breath techniques that calm me down. Idisorder as me, ya know. When I They were afraid of me, really. My mom kept saying you need to snap out of it. Yeah, ma. If only it were that easy!

Age expectations [2008-02-18]
I read the post about the hair length below.. I just have to say that I am so tired of women being put into a Do and Don category just because they reach 40 or older. I am 47.. I act 47.. or at least I try too, but when it comes to my hair, my clothes (except for short shorts and mini skirts, which I have never worn), I do what I want as long as it looks attractive and not silly. Short hair, long hair, blue jeans, polyester pants, music, lifestyles, television shows... we are all expected to behave a certain way and watch certain things on TV, wear certain type clothes, and keep our hair a certain length just because with hit a certain age. Who says!!!! Did a bunch of stuck up old women start this trend years ago.. I listen to very loud rock music.. always have and always will. It keeps me young and it helps me with my saturday morning house work. My friends say why do you still listen to that.. well, why not? I always have. Why change because I I like to play xbox 360 games.. They They don I guess I am supposed to sit around drinking coffee or tea all day and quietly stare at the wall. Is fun no longer allowed when you reach a certain age? Sorry.. just my thoughts on getting older.. You are definitely only as old as you feel.

Hair length [2008-02-18]
First let me say that I am appalled that some neighbors would have the audacity to tell you how to wear your hair. Second, I just watched a segment on Today (Meredith leaves at 9:00 so I didnretirement age and the length was just above her shoulders and she looked fabulous. Now adays we are always hearing love your body, well that includes your hair. If your are happy and you are fortunate enough to have a hubby that cares enough to try to make you feel better, than more power to you.

Hair [2008-02-18]
Hey go for it. Anything that looks good, do it. I always wear my hair short because it looks the best. Looking back at pictures I have almost the same haircut that I had at age 21 but am not trying to recreate that age it just looks the best on my. My great nephews, ages 20 to 8, always tell me that there is no way I am almost the same age as their grandmother (my sister 3 years older) because she is old and I am not and I think it is because I act, dress and think young. I don Even if you wanted to wear a beehive -- now I am showing my age -- do it if it makes you feel good. I envy those gals with longer hair but I am small boned and small facial features and it just overwhelms me. But a lot of older actresses have long hair and it looks good.

Grandparents are Heaven on Earth [2008-02-07]
I have no kids so can only give you a viewpoint of how my grandparents shaped my life. I grew up very close (personally) to my grandparents (grandma was my second mom). My grandparents (moms side) lived up the road from us (about a 5 min walk with an open field between us). In the mornings we would walk outside and if she was out we would yell hello up there and grandma would yell back hello down there. She took care of my sister and I during the day while mom worked. We went everywhere with her every day (hairdresser, butcher, stores, errands, church activities, her friends house, etc). She taught us how to whistle with a blade of grass, play here is the church with our hands. We ate every Sunday supper with them and then she and grandpa moved the living room furniture and taught us how to polka to Lawrence Welk. We also ate there often during the week. Once a week we would spend the night at their house. Grandpa had a lawnmower repair and sales business but anytime I was having trouble in school, he would come in and after supper sit down and help me (mostly with math), but he didn't even think twice about not helping. He was the most unselfish person in the whole world. When I was feeling down about my grade on a report card or test (I was a C & D student, occasionally a B and very rare an A) he would ask me if I did the best that I could and I said I tried really hard but I just didn't understand. He told me as long as I tried the hardest I could he was proud of me. We grew up in the country and g'ma taught us about wild flowers, quilting, and other country type stuff. During the winter we would have sled parties at her house for my girl scout troop and she would bring out hot cocoa with mini marshmallows. Just a couple years ago my best childhood friend was telling me she had just been thinking about that sled party and my grandma bringing us the hot cocoa, and I just have so many wonderful life memories the list would go on and on. She died when I was 16 (30 years ago), grandpa died a few years ago. I miss them so much it still hurts. My dad's grandparents lived 15 minutes from us and we spent every Sunday afternoon with them and when I was old enough to drive I would go up on my own during the weekdays and sit at the table and talk and talk with grandma for hours. I miss them both so much too. I think grandparents are the most wonderful gift a child could have. I was blessed to have mine live so close to us. They spoiled us rotten and we loved it! Oh how I dream of being young again and having my grandparents to talk to. I'm now 48 and live alone with husband. All my grandparents and mom are gone, dad lives across the country and I see him once every 3 years. I sure do miss them all. I hope all kids have a chance to be close to their grandparents the way I was. My mom (when she was alive) and dad all have fond memories of their parents (they both told me they had the best parents anywhere). So the only way I can sum it up is that Grandparents are Heaven on Earth.

When things get that bad [2008-01-19]
around here, I go on a mini-strike. I wash my own plate and dish and only do my own laundry. Family has to do laundry/dishes when no clean towels or glasses. They shape up after that. For a little while anyway!

It's funny because she will always call or instant message my husband or I whenever she needs something! Just a few weeks ago, out of the blue she called and asked if my husband could take her to Home Depot to get some materials because they wouldn't fit in her car and we have a big mini van with a roof rack. I told him not to do it because she is just using us! It's so annoying! The same thing happened to us when we got our new plasma TV last year! She came over and saw it and said, Oh I heard those things don She always has some sort of rude comment whenever she is jealous! I'm so done with her! Also, she wanted me to try to get her sontype really fast. I told her that there was no way she would be able to do it if she doesnOh, she doesn I guess she really is just a jealous, disrespectful person! The sad thing is, she is much older than me! I'm 26 and she is in her 40s! Amazing!
