Most beaches have bicycles [2008-07-03]
for the sand. They are seated like a go kart, sort of, and you lean back/recline, steer with your hands on levers at the side, and pedal out in front of you (like a pedal boat, for lack of a better comparison). I've always meant to rent one. It looks like major fun to me!
Beaches near Disney? [2007-10-04]
Are there any nice clean beaches anywhere close to DisneyWorld that would be a nice place for kids too on vacation?
Disney has its own beaches [2007-10-04]
Ah, maybe 5-6 on the property and really loads of fun for everyone. Other that that, Orlando is middle Fla as far as I know, not close to beaches but people more familiar might know differently.

Agree on TX beaches - not very good. [2007-05-04]
Crowded, murky and high crime. Would make the drive or flight to FL or Mexico before my short drive to a TX beach.
Florida or California beaches [2007-05-03]
Which ones clearer? Florida as clear as ones in like Jamaica/MExico? What beaches are best for family vacation?
If you want clear aqua water and beautiful beaches [2007-05-03]
or at least they have been in years past, try Cancun. What surprised me was the sand there not hot even with days being in the high 90s or so. Visited other beaches in Mexico as well but Cancun takes the cake. Been to several places in Jamaica but most of the time either Club Med or inclusive resort so mostly used the pools where we stayed. I had the best vacation though ever in my life in Montego Bay, cannot say enough for the fun my children and I had there - would definitely return there. Lots of side trips, just really good times.
I'm in Florida 30 years and those beautiful beaches [2007-02-17]
There are plenty of beaches in S. Florida where they have found over the many years MEDICAL WASTE DUMPING. So, no I don't agree that Florida's beaches are all beautiful..........maybe northeast and northwest in the state but certainly not in south florida......

I moved cross country from Nebraska [2008-08-30]
to Phoenix. It was the best time of my life. I actually lived in Mesa and the cost of living was suprisingly reasonable. I had a really nice condo for around $700-800 a month, 2 bedroom, with it I eventually moved to Scottsdale, but the cost of living there is fairly high, but beautiful. I loved Phoenix because it was just hours away from the Cali so I could visit the beaches on the weekends and also just hours away from Las Vegas. It's a great place to be single and I made so many new friends there so quickly. At the time, I was also single and no kids. It's supposedly the best city for singles. Good luck on your search. I envy you a little bit as I love traveling myself...
Between a rock and a hard place - HELP! [2008-08-06]
Okay, back towards the end of last school year some mothers decided to have a coo at the elementary school and take over the PTO for this coming year from the ones that had been running it. Shortly after that, the now ex-pres moved in next to us. The neighbor across the street is now on the new PTO. Somehow, they didnoh you. Well, I let the principal know that I would and now am regretting it. I have a full-time job plus type part-time at night (switching to just weekends when school starts). My husband is gone during the week so that leaves me to take care of kids, homework, games and practices, etc. I get calls and emails all day long regarding PTO. I thought about just sticking it out for the school year (I do have the flexibility to be off or leave early, come in late from my full time job) because I really want to be more involved in the school since my child is going into the second grade. Well, the final straw was a few nights ago when a bunch of us parents were sitting in our driveways watching the kids playing. It wasn My husband went ballistic! We came in the house and he said that was uncalled for, we need to move, and that he SO, what do I do now? How doI gracefully back out but not get shunned from being up at the school and helping out with some activities?
The other story with that neighbor across the street that has bugged me this week - everything my child gets (we are not frivilous by any means), she makes sure her kids get the same things, even down to the exact same pair and color or tennis shoes for school, clothes, bicycles and now, the yard ornaments that we have had in our yard, i see she has bought some and are now in her yard also. I cringe now when I see her but I hate to keep my child from playing in the front yard just because her kids are out there (same age). Any ideas on this too???
What a crappy week!!!
Thanks, but I planning on being [2008-07-02]

MI's been in it's own one-state recession for years [2008-06-18]
All forgotten here. Rumor has it MI was once a super-power, but not in my life-time. Boarded up, gravitti-ridden, poverty-stricken. Highest in unemployment, top-ten in foreclosures, top-ten in high gas prices. Our warted governor certainly is not spending our tax dollars wisely. My only salvation has been to not get in over my head.I drive a $700 car and bought my house for 13K. Gotta love the clean beaches, too.
Definitely Navarre Beach, FL [2008-01-19]
The most gorgeous, and well-kept secret in FL. It is in the pan handle, about 35 miles W of Destin, and about 25 miles E of Pensacola Beach. All of these beaches are beautiful, white sands. Navarre is less traveled, and less busy. My husband and I went with my sis and fam last year, which is where he proposed to me, then this year on 07/07/07 we were married beachside. It is wonderful. I just keyed in Navarre Beach search, and many offers for condos came up. We stayed at the Inn at Summer Wind, a wonderful high-risecondo equipped with everything, If laying around on the beach and/or having coffee on your balcony overlooking the water is your cup o tea, this is the place for you! It is very relaxing. Then, you can cross the bridge back to mainland (Navarre is a small island), and go to the new Superwalmart, to specialty shops, or on down the road either way to frequent other beaches/restaurants, and there is an outlet mall down near Destin that was cool. Just an awesome place to to. We went in June in 06 and July 07, and the water and weather were perfect. In fact, 07/07/07 was the most pretty day down there this year!!! Good luck deciding, but in my exp. It was well worth it. July is the on-season, and we paid around $1300 for 6 nights in the condo, that slept 6 (king BR, bunk beds made in the wall (hubbies bed if he don I think starting in midAug. or so it is about 1/2 that. I have to go in the summer, though, because of the kids and teacher hubby. Good luck again!!
Been to lots of places [2008-01-18]
My favorite all-time place for me has to be Salzburg Austria (birthplace of Mozart), if you want sunny beaches the best time my hsbnd beach vacation spot is Greece. Was there for a week. Lots and lots and lots to do there. Beaches, sightseeing, shopping. Mind you these were the mid 1980s when Reagan was president (and our country was a little well more liked than now), so not sure about safety in other countries. Hands down though I say Ibiza has to be the best if you want a relaxing beach vacation.
I disagree. I still have my class ring (class of 1985). It's tucked away in my jewelry... [2007-10-08]
box. My fingers are too fat to wear it now, but it has sentimental value. Mine was just a metal ring as well and it still looks great.
I gave my class ring to a boyfriend back in the day and it wore it on his pinky. Then he lost it onthe beach at the local lake. We ended up breaking up not too long after that and I thought I would never see my ring again. Then one day ILORI -- did you lose your class ring at city lake? Call... and describe the ring. I called the number and described the ring and it was mine. Thankfully I had had my full name inscribed inside the band of my class ring! The guy that found it was this little old man who had a one of those metal detectors and he spent his retirement days scanning beaches, parks, etc for change and what other treasures he could find. I couldn He wouldn't take any kind of reward for finding it.
Just thought I I feel that class rings, class keys (Do they still do that?), and yearbooksare such an important part of the high school years, but that
Not allowed to swim at Disney "beaches" though [2007-10-05]
They have little man-made beaches at some of the resorts, but you are not allowed to swim in the water. Stayed at several places at Disney... Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Caribbean Beach, Coronado, Dixie Landings, Dolphin/Swan... and it's the same at all. You can play in the sand, but you have to use the pools.
Where in the world have you been? [2007-10-05]
They have excellent swimming (not the pools) but man-made beaches there and you can get hopper pass and go to those beaches just like you can visit Tomorrow Land, MGM or whatever. You apparently don’t know about the other places available to customers.
Then I would suggest for clean water and [2007-10-05]
beaches you take them to Cancun. Florida has some bad water and beaches a lot of times. The water in Cancun crystal clear and the sand, no matter how hot it is, never burns your feet.

We live in North Texas [2007-09-03]
and have been here our whole lives. Have visited both CC and Galveston a lot of times. We're thinking of moving closer to one of them, maybe on outskirts somewhere, but are just wondering pricing for homes or even just land to build on. Any idea if is it way high because of beaches?
N.E. weekends [2007-07-20]
Here are some ideas that we have done (mom, dad, 8yo DD, 5yo DS):
1. Maine coast - Wells/Ogunquit area. Nice beaches, trolley museum, Portland Children's museum, which is great for kids, good restaurants. We go here every year.
2. Lake George - This year we went and went to Six Flags, Fort William Henry, walked around the village shops, ice cream, nice hotel with indoor pool which the kids loved.
3. New Hampshire - A couple years ago we stayed at the Lincoln Head Resort and the kids loved it! Lots of stuff right at the hotel - good restaurant, indoor and outdoor pools, paddle boats, kids activities. A little drive from there was Storyland amusement park, Santa
4. I live literally down the road from Six Flags New England, and there is actually quit a bit to do around here. Spend the day at Six Flags (I think it New Basketball Hall of Fame. Yankee Candle Flagship store and restauarant in Deerfield (aobut a 1/2 hour drive up 91). The musuems at the Springfield Quadrangle (musuem of fine arts, another art museum, historical museum, and science museum and planetarium, Dr. Suess Memorial). Also, Heritage Park in Holyoke (not a great area but the park is a good day for the kids) with antique carousel and Children's museum (we actually spend the day there and make a picnic lunch).
Of all of these trips we have taken, the highlight of my 5yo sonlittle fridge in the room. Go figure!
Just some ideas though...Where are you coming from?
Jemm, those are terrific! [2007-07-10]
I am making a list of all the old movies that I loved and if I don't have them I am going to buy them and watch them again. I had forgotten about all those, except for Braveheart. I loved Fatal Attraction and Beaches!

Rules [2007-06-17]
Here is the reasoning listed in an article on NJ beach rules:
Ocean City passed a law in January prohibiting the feeding of seagulls from beaches or other public property. Officials say they acted to prevent bird droppings from contaminating waterways and spreading disease, but also note the avian scavengers have just gotten too brazen in recent years.
I am with you on that [2007-06-13]
I live not far from the Emerald Coast can get their within 5 and 1/2 hours and we love Destin. Very pretty beaches and water.
yeah but...Mexico is gorgeous. Hey, I went to Cancun. I look at sm [2007-06-02]
it this way: If more of us were to vacation and spend our money there enjoying their gorgeous wild life and pretty beaches, that would give them plenty of tourist money and they wouldn't have to leave their country! I respect those hard-working Mexicans who stay in Mexico (like the ones who courted us at the resort), and I support the likes of them. They work hard, stay in their country, and I will give them good tips and help them to help their families as I enjoy snorkeling, deep sea fishing, and great food.
I wouldn't put all Mexicans into a box and say that you wouldn't give them a dime. Yes, there are illegals here who have no morals and I certainly don't support them! But, like I said, I do support those hard-working ones who are staying in their own country. I don't see a problem in that.
Flagler Beach, a little south of St. Augustine [2007-05-04]
Hollywood Beach boardwalk cheesy!!! LOL
I absolutely love Hollywood Bch at night. This was about 10 years ago, but I remember walking on that beach road with the little huts/bars/seafood snackeries. A draft for $1. Those were the days!
Sanibel is nice, but IMO east coast is much nicer.
Bahia Honda is BY FAR the best beach. Small, yes, but really nice. And crampground is SO nice. Secluded, etc., at least when I went zillions of years ago.
I'm in N. Cent. FL now. Miss the beaches, although I'm pretty close to St.
Augustine. However, do NOT miss the congestion, traffic, and HEAT.
I love it up here :-)
that is really sad - spent my honeymoon on [2007-05-04]
Padre Island - guess the beaches went the way of my marriage - down the tubes!

I know Cancun and Cozumel are beautiful, but I don't want to deal with 4 passports. My kids are 6 and 7 and we all love the beach, but the beaches here in Texas are so dirty, I was just wondering if Florida or California was any different for vacation this summer.
I went there for a week but never could get - sm [2007-05-03]
in the water as it was red flagged the whole time I was there. Stayed at the Oasis, very nice. Only went down to the beach once, ended up stepping on a bee, must have been one heck of a bee as it made me sick (or a reaction)--never had that happen before, luckily only for the rest of the day (2pm on), was fine the next day except for a sore foot. --I recommend Grand Cayman, great beaches, great snorkeling or scuba (the reefs there are amazing), the turtle farm is neat. Can be pricey but not too bad. I've been there about 5 x, plan on going again one of these days.
