when someone says that just happened to he and I. AAAGH. If they are not sure, why not just say us? And the ever popular I seen you called. Foot stomper, I just cringe all over. My old English teachers would be so proud!

I know that you are talking about females [2008-10-21]
cutting males hair, but it sounds like you are telling the females to let the males cut their hair. Never in a million years. :0)

Talking with a nonChristian about Jesus [2008-10-17]
I have been reading this and I just wanted to offer a few thoughts: 1) No, you cannot go up to someone and say YOU ARE A SINNER! REPENT and expect a positive reaction. I think that God will give you opportunities to talk to people. When those opportunities arise, you ask for their permission to speak with them about it. If they say no, you drop it. I believe that God will open the hearts of those who are ready to hear it. If they do give you permission, you donYOU are a sinner because I saw YOU lying to so and so, I heard that YOU were sleeping with so and so and you At the moment of witnessing to someone, you better believe Satan is standing right there waiting for you to slip up so he can turn it against you. I think a better thing would be to say Well God tells us in the Bible that WE are ALL sinners no matter what we do. That is why we need Jesus. 2) Back you're claims up with Bible verses. That way no one thinks you are saying this in you're own words. Some good Scripture for witnessing: Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. John 3:3 - Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. These are just some to get you started. If the person you are talking to has opened their heart to hearing you, I doubt they won't want to hear the verses. 3) If you get a positive reaction, don't leave them to figure out the rest by themselves. Support them, invite them to church, introduced them to other loving Christians. Look, our nation is at war, but we are in a much bigger war. Satan is wreaking havoc in our nation and for to long we have sat by and let him. But just because the situation is dire does not mean we can just stand on our soap boxes and start proclaiming out loud that everyone is a sinner and they must all repent now. It requires personal connections with people. All throughout the Bible you read about Jesus having a personal connection. He spoke to people one on one. He allowed them to discuss the issue with Him, to question Him. One of his disciples even doubted Him! I know many of us, myself included, probably questioned all the way up to the aisle before we gave our lives over to Him. It is our nature to do so. As much as we all pray for a revival in this nation and in our churches, I doubt it will happen. Any of you who have studied and believe in the Bible know the time is drawing near. It is also said that every nation will turn against us before He comes. It's time to come together and be ready to support one another, because times are going to get tough. If you are sitting on the fence, you better choose a side, because Satan owns that fence. Call me crazy, call me fanatical. But I KNOW that my Lord is the living Christ, and I know that he will come back, and I am much more concerned about what He thinks about me then what YOU think about me! :) True Christians love everyone. We just hate sin. I hate that I sin everyday. But I thank God that I can ask for forgiveness and He gives it. All this mess about oh you Christians hate gay people, hate abortion supporters, hate blacks, etc is simply not true. I have friends who are gay. I love them just as much as I love my Christian brothers and sisters. I just don't love the sin. Abortion is a sin. And I'm not sure why you say we hate black people unless you're saying it's because we don't vote for Obama, but black is just another color and Jesus doesn't pay attention to color, therefore neither should we, and I believe most of us don't. The ones that do are sinning and will have to ask for forgiveness. If anyone is seriously interested in discussing this or just wants to talk, please email me. If you just want to be hateful and bash, please, just save it.

Not sure who you're talking to but [2008-10-16]
I never asked you for any scripture and my post above didn't have anything to do with any scripture either, but the statement about sodomy and where our laws come from. I do not believe in sin, so no, I do not believe that homosexuality is a sin. And you're right, there is no convincing me. Ever been dead and seen for yourself? I have. The bible was written by men - again, and again, and again. It has as much credibility.

We are not talking about denying their rights. If anything [2008-10-15]
they would actually be getting more rights than heterosexual students because they would be getting a school designed for them. Plenty of heterosexual high schoolers are harrassed and bullied and nowhere is there a school dedicated to serving these kids. They are referred to counselors and support groups designed to teach them how to cope. It And let The cost of running this special school comes out of the pockets of all taxpayers. How is that fair? If they want their own school, it should be a private school that requires them and their families pay a tuition.

Sounds like your not talking to him [2008-10-08]
yelling and complaining. After a certain point he probably just tunes you out.

We're talking about kids; not adults. [2008-10-01]

Which board are we talking about? [2008-09-26]
I was assuming she was talking about MTDaily, and that IS a pay-to-join forum.

Yes. I think I had what you are talking about, [2008-09-25]
but thankfully mine did not last that long. I still from time to time will get it, but again very briefly. Hope it gets better for you very soon.

Are you actually talking about someone else? sm [2008-09-10]
Maybe a friend you fell out with and you know she reads this board? If you really are talking about yourself, go talk to a doctor and get some antidepressants :-)

Are you talking about [2008-09-01]
David Duchovny from the x-files? If so, I have been moderately obsessed with him since the 90 :)

Also - Talking to his parents would be of no benefit (sm [2008-08-04]
His parents do not know how to handle him. Calling their son names and telling him that his heart is dark are just making things worse. He might get punished more or yelled at more or cursed at more....that He doesn I am not a parent who believes in not disciplining their children....I believe in disciplining appropriately though. If you have witnessed and heard for yourself the things that his parents have said to him, what do you think they must say to him when no one else can hear? Also, often boys who are large for their age get treated so much more harshly by everyone around them.....suppose he was a teeny tiny little 14-year-old saying the same types of things....would you react exactly the same to him?? Because his mentality is the same as that teeny tiny 14-year-old, just in a bigger body.

i know what you are talking about sm [2008-08-04]
i'm fascinated with spirit stuff. i know what orbs are. maybe i should take some pictures around our house. we haven't had any family pass. he explains to me what the ghost looks like. once he said he saw the grim reaper in the bath tub. i don't in anyway put these ideas in his head. i don't even bring them up. but when he brings them up, i don't brush it off, i ask him what he saw, if he was scared, if they talk to him. i don't want him to feel like he can't come to me and tell me these things. my hubby on the other hand, doesn't believe in that stuff, and i haven't even told him that our 6 y/o says he sees stuff like that. he'd think i was feeding it in his head, but i don't. i had a dream once when i was pregnant with my first son. it was the most amazing dream i had ever had. i dream in color, and they seem so real. anyway, i was pregnant with my first kid, didn't know what i was having at the time of this dream. in my dream an angel came to me (she looked like my mom --- my mom is still alive) and she was holding a baby. it was a baby boy. after i had my first boy, he looked exactly like the baby in my dream that the angel was holding. it was just amazing!!!!

Ok, for you people talking about linoleum... [2008-07-11]
Let me make this perfectly clear: Linoleum never has and never will look like wood or tile floor. I donhigh end it is, it still looks like linoleum. It amazes me how people put that garbage in and say even my friends think it is real tile! Let me fill you in on something: They don't think that, they are saying that to make you feel better about buying cheap flooring. LOL I know linoleum has its uses and it's the most affordable flooring, but please stop trying to convince yourself and others that it looks great because it doesn't - it looks like LINOLEUM!

Yesterday at the mall I was talking with a friend SM [2008-06-24]
I met who works there. A group of young girls about high school age came up to me and asked if I would take a picture of them together. I noticed she had such a beautiful accent. I was about to take the picture and she told me to be sure to get the American flag that hangs from the ceiling in the picture as well. They were thrilled to be in America. We asked them where they were from and they said they were from Russia. They were beautiful, polite girls who were smiling from ear to ear. It was a nice moment and I wanted to share it with you.

Talking over the internet [2008-05-30]
I would Google Magic Jack and Skype. Those are 2 that I know of. Magic Jack is easy to install on your computer and costs either $39.95 or $19.95 PER YEAR. I believe skype is free. I have a couple friends that use Magic Jack and love it.

Talking over the Internet [2008-05-29]
My daughter I Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks!

What's the last two numbers of your SSN? [2008-05-08]
They're sending them out that way. Mine is due on Friday. I've had a lot of friends get theirs. I guess we have to be patient.

wth are you talking about? [2008-04-26]
not sure how you figure insurnace companies charge you for other people's kids...

You're talking about 2 different posts. Please don't bring that [2008-04-25]
I don't care which side you're on. I'm just getting tired of the boards all being covered with religion. Take it to the Faith board please.

Are we talking single people or [2008-04-18]
families with children? H and I make between that together but looking at our individual salaries no. We also have 2 kids. All I know is that we did not qualify for free or reduced school lunches. LOL.

Talking to me about my smoking may lead [2008-04-04]
to burn marks on your forehead as I put out my cigarette. Oh, was that your head?

My dad and I were just talking bout this [2008-04-02]
My grandmother is from PRico - when she came her her older sister took her in and made her learn english before anything else. My grandfather came from Canada and he had to learn english from his family. On another note...I keep getting my phone bills in spanish. Not half english/half spanish - ALL spanish. I've called the compnay many times and said I can't read the date its due and anything. They apologized but never fixed the problem. Also, I have been getting literture from them and that is also in spanish. They also answer the phone in spanish and I have to ask if they speak English (makes me feel like a foreigner in my own country). I have solved the problem though and switched my phone company. I'm now with a company that my bills will be coming in english. I just can't understand it(well I do understand, I just don't agree).

Pardon the typo above. Should be TALKING... nm [2008-04-02]
:)

We were talking about this at work today. [2008-03-14]
No way would I stand up there with him. I think I would let my husband have his humiliation publicly, and I would handle mine privately.

Do any of you have a spouse [2008-11-20]
who can How do you work it out? Are you just stuck always being the bad guy? Unfortunately, the entire United States is having a difficult financial time. It is obviously not just our household. We have cut back everywhere we can, and I mean everywhere. Our families are having difficult problems as well. We also have an ex-spouse and have had unexpected increases in child support, etc. recently along with unexpected additional expenses where this is concerned. Basically, the child needs new glasses, etc. even though the child really doesn It just seems like it is one thing after another and I know it is for everyone, although the circumstances may be slightly different. My problem is that I have been telling my husband for months that this was coming, along with Christmas, birthday, etc. He hasn Although we have cut back on many things, on my initiative, it just has not sunk in for him until now...when everything finalized and we dont To top this off, he can Ibad guy because he is ok with all of it although he admits he has no idea where the money is going to come from. I have been upfront with my family and when people ask me but is it too much to ask that he do the same? I dont But of course he wants to constantly remind me (the cheap skate and tight-a$$) to cut back on groceries, etc. which I cannot possibly do any more than I have already. We have nothing left in savings. We have no Christmas fund. I I donI told you so but I did tell him and he had no concerns until now...when we are seemingly headed towards financial trouble. I have been working OT but his OT has been cut indefinitely from his employer. I I must say he doesn't buy things for himself..its just the piddling away of $20 here and $20 there on top of our already mounting unexpected expenses.

My husband is oblivious to our finances [2008-11-20]
Sometimes that It sounds like maybe your husband is too proud to tell his family that he can I I would suggest talking to the leader of his family, the person who hosts the get-togethers, and let them know that you do the finances and you just don It doesn I would certainly let your husband know that you are going to say something beforehand, but he doesn I For birthdays, we take the time to call and wish that person a happy birthday. We don My brother lives about 2 hours away, so we don Unless his family is loaded, I'm sure they'll understand. As for the glasses, I just took my son for new glasses yesterday. The eye doctor said he needs a new prescription, but I asked if just the lenses could be replaced and the frames reused. He said absolutely. Our insurance covers new frames, lenses and the exam, but my son has a tendency to break things at the most inopportune time. We just bought him these glasses in June because he broke them and according to the insurance, it wasn Now that he is eligible for everything new, we asked for just the lenses. If he breaks his frames later in the year, we can just get new frames (covered by insurance) and pop the lenses in. The only problem there would be is they discontinue his frames because the new lenses probably wouldn So, something to consider here is, if your stepchild needs a new prescription and already has glasses, then I would check with your lawyer to see if you can just buy new lenses for the current frames. The frames are what normally cost the most anyway.

I think about it a lot but different situation (sm) [2008-11-20]
My two children are almost the exact ages of yours. My husband doesn't have the drinking issue but has plenty of personality issues. I think you absolutely should leave, no ifs, ands or buts. I just think being in that environment is awful for your kids, he is saying it is not going to work anyway and talking about ending the marriage. I say if he doesn't change then yes, go, without a doubt.

I would start charging the JA for room and board - sm [2008-11-16]
If he is so lazy he wonfriend, and tell him the gravy train has stopped and he needs (1) to either take the dogs and take care of them himself, (2) start paying you $200 a week to feed and board the dogs (a bargin)--and if he fails to pay the dogs go to a no-kill shelter (and stick to it), (3) in the future if he does take the dogs back, that he has to find other arrangements for their room and board whenever he is away, unless he pays you in advance with cash and supplies the food.-- yeah he will think you are a shrew but who cares, I'd be so mad at both of them, DH for not understanding and being a wuss for not talking to his friend, and the friend for being the typical male and taking advantage of a good thing. Good luck, and stick it to them!

I need some advice [2008-11-15]
Ok this is the story: My husband is still friends with his first girlfriends family. This does not bother me. She did a couple of things to really disgrace her family when she was dating him but after a period of time he still kept in touch with them as we live in a very small community. When we met and got engaged they were all very kind to me and the mother even did the cake and flowers for our wedding. The ex is never around much so no big deal. Well this past weekend her great grandmother passed. My husband had known this woman for sometime and the mother asked him to come to the funeral and told me I was not to feel like I shouldnI. To which the ex rolled her eyes and looked at her HUSBAND. So we walked away. To tell you the truth, we didn't really care. Well we get a phone call about an hour ago from the exum we aren Well, knowing how immature the ex and her husband are, we knew they were behind this (plus we could hear them in the background). So my husband told the boy Look, it Well a few minutes later he gets a text message from the brother saying my mom can (which obviously is not true since we saw her Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon and she was obviously not mental). So my husband sent back a message saying Look, whatever issues your sister has with me and your mom having an ADULT friendship, she needs to take those up with your mom, but quit trying to start drama. Well a few minutes later the phone rings. My husband handed me the phone. Knowing how mad he was at the moment, I answered. It was the ex. She asked if she could talk to him, and I said No. This needs to stop right now, it She said well my mom is really going crazy and she can. She went on for about five minutes and I said fine, we won I'm just so angry right now! I mean this is high school drama! What would you do? I know the mom will be absolutely heartbroken if my husband and I just stop coming to see her and talking to her (since her lovely daughter never comes home). I mean except for the funeral, we never go around if she is going to be there, and we don't sit there and talk bad about her or anything. I honestly think she knows she screwed up by messing around on him SIX YEARS AGO and is just upset that he's married and happy and it sounds like her husband is a jerk.

Explaining a couple of things sm [2008-11-14]
I studied IQ as part of my Masterget you because your sense of humor is probably well off the beaten track. You probably lack social skills from an early age. Your peers would play childhood games while you preferred to try to improve upon the toys they played with. In school, you didn't have to work very hard in most areas. It all came very easily. You didn't learn how to learn, which is a very valuable skill. You probably have a low frustration level and when something doesn't come very easily, you are prone to giving up. Because you see the world in completely different terms than people of more average intelligence, those same average people call you crazy or mentally ill and tell you that you should be locked up. You don't fit in and despite the higher intelligence, you are remiss to know how to accomplish the feat of being more ordinary. I alluded to this in my previous post. I have the unusual combination of being very artistic, creatively gifted AND being rather intellectually gifted. Yes, I did fall at the 99.6% percentile on the Wechsler. I know what it means and I have a firm understanding that indeed, that score suggests that I possess more intelligence than 99.6% of the people who have taken that test, and only 0.4% are smarter than I am. It has been a life-long struggle to fit in. I am too cerebral for artistic people, and too artistic for intellectuals. I literally have no one I fit in with. I have learned to tone myself down to make it work. I didn't say dumb down, I said tone down. That means I don't intentionally talk over the heads of others and I won't cram what I know down anyone's throat. I have had those people in my life who have been jealous of me. I learn quickly if it is artistic, musical, creative, the written word, history and philosophy. I struggle with math. I took piano lessons 10 years ago. I had 40 of them and had never played the piano before. In 40, 1-hour lessons I could play the Moonlight Sonata in piano solo (not a dumbed down easy version). Most people cannot do that. There many other things I have done in a similar fashion, but this is an example for you. You ask why I am an MT if I am so smart. I make very good money as an MT and I enjoy the challenge. My photographic memory comes in very handy too. I often stop and read up on a disease process I am transcribing about, so that I know what it means. Show me a word once and I'll know it forever. It makes my job easier for me to accomplish. This all sounds like I am blowing my own horn, but I am merely trying to explain. Being highly intelligent wonreally smart is not only not helpful, I think it is the root of the housecleaning issues in my life. In short, it is just great to have a good ol' high number and in the end it makes absolutely difference...if you don't count the fact that people with IQs over 150 are 3 times more likely to be depressed and commit suicide than the average population. People who are 125 to 140 are the most fortunate. They succeed in greater numbers in school, in a job, in life. They are very bright, and likely have learned how to learn. They are more likely to persevere in the face of frustration and challenge. It really isn't all you think it is.

huh? [2008-11-14]
your post is all over the place, or is it just me. It could be just me. Its been just me before. Anyway, I really dont know what you are talking about. I SAID my daughter was really upset when she found out that we told her that santa was real when he was not. She felt that we lied to her. She could care less about there being no santa as long as she still got her gifts. She was upset about the lie. What the HECK does MENSA have to do with ANYTHING????? Wow. doodoodoodooooooo

Please...I need someone to talk to...sm [2008-11-13]
Okay, its pity party time. I may need to get a professionalfree therapy. I am feeling really, really guilty about not seeing my dad as much as I should. So, heredad just up and leaves sort of way. He got a job in another city about 5 hours away. I remember we were all really excited about it as it was a really good career move for him. Mom didnagreement was that he would come home on the weekends and see us (right). So this turned into seeing him every month, to every couple of months, to about twice a year (thanksgiving and Christmas). Him and mom are still married (don't know how she does it) but I feel such resentment toward him that it is hard for me to go see him. We only live about 15 minutes away from my parents and are in their town a lot to see my husband's family. However, I choose not to go see my father because it is awkward and weird and it stresses me out to the max. I get to see mom about 3 times a week as we work together (both as transcriptionists) at our local hospital. I love spending time with her, but not with my dad around. I know I'm hurting his feelings when I don't see him but on his birthday, father's day, holidays, etc. He doesn't drink THAT much anymore, a beer or two a day (we think), but it still bothers the heck out of me when I see him drinking. Although it is better than mom and I trying to get him to bed while he is falling down drunk or driving away, getting a DUII, etc. I would never tell him how I feel because I love him and wouldn't hurt him like that. He isn't very healthy (hep C, high BP, neuropathy, etc) and I don't think he'll be around for that much longer. NEway..getting off track...I just need some advice and/or to hear someone else's stories about something like this. I don't know what to do and it is really getting to me. It does feel better to be able to talk to someone about it though (husband doesn't understand and talking to mom about it just makes her feel bad). Thanks ladies for all of your support!!!

Slightly different perspective. [2008-11-13]
So maybe I shouldn't post about this since I have not exactly been in your shoes but I think possibly I can lend a help perspective. I lost my father to cancer when I was 19. My FIL is an alcoholic. No I didn't grow up in a divorced family or without a father through my childhood and no I haven't experienced my father being an alcoholic. What I feel I can tell you is there is such a thing as being too late to say the things you wanted to say, good or bad. If it does come to that, you will never let it go. He is still your father regardless of the choices he has made in his life. You only have 1 father. After seeing my FIL, I believe alcoholism is an illness. Sure people can fight it and get help if they wan, but it takes a very, very strong person to overcome it and it is a constant battle. From the sounds of your post it seems as though you have some things you need to get off of your chest. Whether that means sitting down and talking to him or putting the past in the past and moving on with any kind of relationship - I think only you can figure that out. Even a relationship that is only on holidays and important events is still a relationship. Who knows, maybe talking to your mom would help her as much as it might help you. It certainly can't be a short conversation, it needs to be thorough to get through the surface feelings and to the nitty gritty. Maybe, just maybe, your mom could shed some light for you on why she has been able to forget the past to a certain extent and move on. If nothing else, this might make you and your mom even closer and it sounds like no one else (professional or otherwise) would understand better than her. With my FIL, we do not stay when he is drunk or starts drinking. The entire family knows we pack up and leave, regardless of the situation. It hurts his feelings sometimes I can tell, but he knows the circumstances and we have small children that we will not subject to that. It was difficult at first but over the years it is just the way it is and no one says a word anymore and respects where we are coming from.

How Rude!!!! [2008-11-13]
Good for you! The fact that she told you to hold on while shefinished texting would have sent me right over the edge! Congrats to you for teaching her a lesson her parents obviously don I have 2 teenage girls and we have made that rule quite clearthat they will lose ALL privileges if they even thinkof texting while driving or talking while driving. The phone must be turned offwhen they drive and we have tested them on it many times just to make sure they are following the rules.

LOL at the elf story. [2008-11-12]
What a cute story about the Elf! I love that! My sister once had a friend call my nephew and saw she was Mrs. Claus. Omg, it was so cute. He was so serious on the phone talking to her. He must have been about 4. He was perfect that year waiting for Christmas and doing everything Mrs. C asked him to do. I think everyone puts the bag of marshmellows on the oven. That's too funny the things you remember. I'm sure it was funny at the moment though. I have finally given up shopping the day after Thanksgiving too. Itgreat deal so I vowed never again from that day. Unfortunately, from what I have heard, my mom was one of those mean people trying to get my cabbage patch kid that I spoke of earlier. lol It's very unlike her but I guess you'll do anything if you know it will mean that much to your kids.

FYI [2008-11-11]
This information comes from the Mensa International web site: Mensa was founded in England in 1946 by Roland Berrill, a barrister, and Dr. Lance Ware, a scientist and lawyer. They had the idea of forming a society for bright people, the only qualification for membership of which was a high IQ. The original aims were, as they are today, to create a society that is non-political and free from all racial or religious distinctions. The society welcomes people from every walk of life whose IQ is in the top 2% of the population, with the objective of enjoying each other's company and participating in a wide range of social and cultural activities. Mensans range in age from 4 to 94, but most are between 20 and 60. In education they range from preschoolers to high school dropouts to people with multiple doctorates. There are Mensans on welfare and Mensans who are millionaires. As far as occupations, the range is staggering. Mensa has professors and truck drivers, scientists and firefighters, computer programmers and farmers, artists, military people, musicians, laborers, police officers, glassblowers--the diverse list goes on and on. There are famous Mensans and prize-winning Mensans, but there are many whose names you wouldn't know. The term IQ score is widely used but poorly defined. There are a large number of tests with different scales. The result on one test of 132 can be the same as a score 148 on another test. Some intelligence tests don't use IQ scores at all. Mensa has set a percentile as cutoff to avoid this confusion. Candidates for membership in Mensa must achieve a score at or above the 98th percentile on a standard test of intelligence (a score that is greater than or equal to that achieved by 98 percent of the general population taking the test). As this list suggests, Mensa is a remarkably diverse organization. While Some Mensans noted here are well known, many others lead interesting lives out of the public eye. Geena Davis: Academy-award winning actress, who has starred in The Long Kiss Goodnight, A League of Their Own, Thelma and Louise and Hero. Donald Petersen: A former chairman of Ford Motor Company. While at Ford, Petersen was involved in the development of two of Ford's most successful cars--the Mustang and the Maverick. Marilyn Vos Savant: Listed in the Guinness Hall of Fame for having the worldAsk Marilyn!, a weekly column in Parade magazine. Bobby Czyz: A former two-time World Boxing Association (WBA) Cruiserweight Champion. Czyz now commentates on many nationally-broadcasted fights. Dr. Julie Peterson: A former Playboy Playmate, Peterson is a graduate of Life School of Chiropractic. Alan Rachins: Portrays DharmaDharma Greg. Thank you for answering me. I [2008-11-11]
had just read an article in the August Reader's Digest about a man being treated for throat cancer, stage IV. The name is The Farther Shore by Stephen Reynolds, in his 40's. There is an insert in the article that might interest you. HPV and You While few people with HPV get oral cancer, the number is likely to keep rising, says Maura Gillison, M.D., of Johns Hopkins. 20 million Americans are infected, with 6.2 million new cases each year. So far, there is no cure and just one test and only to detect HPV in a woman's cervix. Only a biopsy can tell whether an oral cancer is linked to HPV, but a test to spot high-risk oral infection in men and women and a vaccine for men are both in the works. What you need to know: Most people with HPV infections don't have any symptoms. At least half of sexually active men and women may become infected in their lifetimes. About 23% of women ages 14 to 65 have high-risk HPV, including 35% of 14 to 19 year old girls. Gardasil protects against up to 70% of the HPV types that cause cervical cancer, but it is unknown if the vaccine protects against oral infection in men or women. While most infections clear up on their own without patients ever knowing they were exposed, the consequences can still be severe. For instance, one type of HPV raises the risk of oral cancer of 3,200 percent. The virus speads through any form of sexual activity, and condoms can't fully protect against it. Having more than 5 oral sex partners boosts the risks of HPV linked oral cancer by 340 percent. Sorry this was so long, but this is the most info I have seen on this and the numbers are, I think, staggering. I notice it does not address the vaccine in Australia you mentioned.

It was not me who defined these 3 points of intelligence, this is taken out of a study. I have no attitude. Why is is that one gets immediately insulted if one says something that is not readily accepted by the posters? We were talking about IQ scores and not about the complications that hinder people to take full advantage of their intelligence. There are so many excuses brought up if somebody is not able to take full advantage of one's intelligence. This is either a sickness of some sort or also a kind of stupidity. I disagree with the suggestion that the smarter people are the less happy they are. Why should intelligence make us unhappy? This borders on sickness. This should not be, then they should consult a psychologist or psychiatrist. I do not want to go into a deep discussion about this issue because I do not want to make myself the target of insults which is so common on this board in case people disagree with one's opinion. Why should I do that?

I'm a dog lover, and most dogs love me. - sm [2008-11-10]
I can be walking down the street, simply make eye contact with one and smile without saying a word, and the dog will usually rush up to me, wagging his tail like crazy and acting all silly and lovey-dovey. In the past, some of the absolute sweetest dogs I'd ever known were pits & rotties. But that was in the ྌs, before the big 'gangsta-dog' thing became popular. Then people started breeding these dogs more for a surly attitude than for good temperament, and it seems to be a dominant trait that's getting passed forward, even when unintended. So fast-forard to 2 weeks ago. I was out walking in my neighborhood, and was coming up a long flight of sidewalk stairs that go up the steep hill I live on. Halfway up, I saw a big brown pit bull standing there looking at me. I had seen him running loose on my street earlier in the day, and wondered whose he was, but then forgot about him. He had an aggressive body-language that I didn't like. But I'm not afraid of dogs, and continuned on up the steps, and talked to him nicely as I reached the top. But then the dog totally went off, and began barking, growling, and making charges at me. I knew to stand my ground, and first tried sweet-talking him. Didn't work. If I tried to slowly move away from him in any direction, he'd come around and try to come in at me from behind. There wasn't a soul around. I tried scaring him off, but that only exacerbated the problem, so I decided to just stand there and let him do his thing. 20 minutes later, he was just as aggressive as ever, maybe worse, because his charges were coming closer and closer. The only 'weapon' in my possession was a single can of cat food in a plastic bag, that I'd walked down the hill to the market to buy. Considered whacking him with it, but didn't want to be in that close to him. Turns out the owners were in an apartment right across the street. A couple finally came out and called off the dog, stating Oh, we didn (I doubt that - the dog had been out all afternoon.) Anyway, I told them I'd call the sheriff and/or animal control if I ever saw him out again. When I got home, I called animal control anyway, and filed a formal complaint, so that if he bit anyone in the future, there would already be a complaint against him, and he likely would not be released from the shelter. Animal control said they'd follow up with the owner, which hopefully they did. In the meantime, I did 2 things: I programmed the sheriff's phone numberinto my cellphone, which I now slip into my pocket whenever I go out for a walk. Good thing to do, anyway. The other thing is I went to Army-Navy Surplus, and bought a cannister of professional-grade pepper spray. Not the wimpy, .02% 'dog-repellent'. I doubt that would stop a pitbull. I got the 15% stuff that will bring a 200-pound, raging crack-addict to his knees and keep him there for more than an hour. That goes into my pocket, as well. Now I can walk & bike with peace of mind. Meanwhile, those pitbull owners should consider themselves very lucky that their dog went after someone who knows dogs, is not afraid, and didn't RUN. If a timid woman, or worse, a child, had come up those steps that afternoon, the resulting attack might have made the 6 o'clock news that night. There are probably still some gentle pits left out there, but I think their numbers are declining because of the current fashion statement of being a 'big bad gangsta, with my big, bad gansta-dog'. They want their dogs to intimidate people, and then they wonder why they can't rent an apartment or get homeowners insurance to cover dog bites. In some cities you have to post a $30,000 bond in order to keep one. It's little wonder that unwanted pits and pit-mixes are clogging up our animal shelters. I feel sorry for the animals, but if I were adopting, I wouldn't want the financial liability of owning one.

Capt. Kirk never used his communicator so much! [2008-11-10]
I'm old enough to remember the original Star Trek t.v. series. Remember the crew's communicators? Just like cell phones today! In fact, so much of what was on that old show has come to pass from science fiction into fact. So, perhaps there is hope that cell phone use will become more civilized in the future. After all, we never saw Capt. Kirk, Mr. Spock and Dr. McCoy texting and constantly talking on their communicators. BEAM ME UP, SCOTTY!

reasoning [2008-11-09]
sorry I believe God has the authority to judge any and every situation. My reasoning on dogs is the temperament test. That is a test that doesn't lie. This test is conducted by experts on specific breeds of dogs. I hate to admit it, but I use to be skeptical on owning pitbulls also. I use to think why take the chance on owning a dog that could turn on us and kill us??? Yup that was me 6 yrs ago. Till one day I took a chance on getting a little pitbull pup & he would be the one to open my eyes to so much. So upon researching them, owning them for years, rescuing one and being married to a K9 dog handler/trainer trust me I know what I am talking about.

Why do people ask you how you are today [2008-11-08]
and then walk away before you really even geta chance to open your mouth. Or why does that perky little young girl at thebank say Have a good day when she really could give a rattail about whether I do or not. She doesn

Vicks Vaoprub...interesting read [2008-11-06]
VICKS VAPO RUB .....INTERESTING!! During a lecture on Essential Oils, they told us how the foot soles can absorb oils. Their example: Put garlic on your feet and within 20 minutes you can Some of us have used Vicks Vapo rub for years for everything from chapped lips to sore toes and many body parts in between. But I don 100% of the time, although the scientists who discovered it aren night time coughing in a child (or adult, as we found out personally), put Vicks Vapo rub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. Works 100% of the time and is more effective in children than even those very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly. Just happened to tune in A.M. Radio and picked up this guy talking about why cough medicines in kids often do more harm than good, due to the chemical makeup of these strong drugs so, I listened. It was a surprise finding and found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly. My wife tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks ago and it worked 100%! She said that it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her, coughing stopped in a few minutes and believe me, this was a deep, (incredibly annoying) every few seconds uncontrollable cough, and she slept totally cough-free for hours every night that she used it. If you have grandchildren, pass this on. If you end up sick, try it yourself and you will be absolutely amazed at how it works. DON TRY IT THE NEXT TIME YOU GET A BAD COLD. This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice be glad in it!

yea, whatever . . . [2008-11-04]
MY sister-in-law is an LPN (whooptedoo) and actually had the guts to say to me isn't that really difficult to type when you don't know what they are talking about? And she was quite proud of herself for that little slam. I haven't talked to her in about 8 years (yea, one of those). I let her think she got to me. Whatever.

There are people out there though . . . [2008-11-04]
I had a PA struggling to diagnose me in the office one day and she was telling me probably lupus, blah, blah, blah, all of this crap and she had the doc come in and he said do you know who she is??? (yea, she did). He said to her, this woman is a member of the medical profession and she is going to go right back to her office and look up everything you just told her and panic. She knows what you are talking about, you don't just throw out diagnoses. That's probably not exactly how he said it but I get the meaning of, don't cross this MT off the list, honey, she knows everything you are saying!!

FURTHERMORE (I should NOT have started . . .) [2008-11-04]
The cardiologists and hospitalists that took care of my mother quite appreciated that I knew her baseline EF, that she had chf, and could give a very detailed medical history to them and knew what they were talking about when my mother could not give them that info last summer . . . AND when I mentioned to my doc one time that I thought I had restless leg syndrome (which yea, I did) during my pregnancy he said, how So it just depends on who ya talk to.

Get asked if I am a nurse [2008-11-04]
I've had several contacts with doctors who don't know me when taking my daughter to urgent care and also when I was in the hospital recently for surgery, and in talking with them about medical issues, they invariably ask me if I'm a nurse. I guess I sound like I know enough to be a nurse, but not enough to be a doctor, as they never ask if I am a doctor, LOL!

Ugh. Reminds me of (sm) [2008-11-02]
I remember dating this very handsome eligible batchelor when I was in my early 20s. He had his own apartment and a good job. He proudly told me about the fancy set of pots and pans he'd bought, so that was one thing he'd already have when he got married. I don't even care about cooking, but I didn't like the idea of the male picking out stuff for his future wife. I'm sure he made somebody a great husband, but it's funny how that conversation set off alarm bells for me. My husband also bought a car without talking to me about it while we were engaged, and I was quite shocked. It did say something about his attitude about money and purchases, and I should have listened to those warning bells too.

stinker [2008-11-02]
As I read the posts below, talking to the manager to find you another apartment on the premises might be a good idea and solution, if there is a vacancy or maybe you can pursuade another stinker to swap apartment with you?
