July [2008-09-19]
do not go tent camping in Myrtle Beach in July - been there, done that. .

I posted this around the 4th of July...sm [2008-08-06]
I wrote this: >>> One of my dogs has a little bit of a problem with loud noises such as fireworks and thunderstorms. He doesn't get too terribly upset (likes to hide, refuses to go outside for awhile even after it's quieted down), but I happened to read an article about how using peppermint oil on the dog's paw pads helps to really calm them, so I'm going to give it a try this year. It has to be real peppermint oil (not the kind found in the grocery store in the baking section), so I went to a local health food store and bought a bottle. You put the oil on a cotton pad, then put some on each of the dog's paws. I did a Google search and found a lot of comments from people saying it worked for their dog. (Just type in 'thunderstorms peppermint oil.') >>> I can tell you, it worked! It lasted for about 3-4 hours. You might want to give it a try. You don't say how young your puppy is, but if he's really young, you might want to check w/your vet just to make sure it's safe to use on a puppy. There is also some sort of vest that is sold that wraps around the dog and makes them feel secure. I haven't tried that though. You also want to avoid unintentionally reinforcing the dog's fearful behavior by comforting/petting the dog too much when it's afraid. Just act like it's no big deal, and say positive things like 'You're okay, buddy!' and go on about your business. Also, I haven't looked at the links that the other poster gave you, but there is probably a lot of great info. there on Cesar Millan's (the Dog Whisperer) website. I love him!

any insurance co that pays preventative??? [2008-07-21]
I am seriously thinking of switching from BC/BS as i You If you know of a major insurance company that i might look into, please let me know. thanks.

Ours isn't due until July, and since DH is self-employed and pays quarterly tax estimates... [2008-04-30]
the stimulus is going toward the tax bill. Ironic, huh? Oh, and if you want to get mad, listen to this. Our former foster son's parents are Korean citizens. They have green cards and are considered permanent residents of the US, but they live in S. Korea. They travel here twice a year but live and work in S. Korea. They do file US tax returns, but they don't make enough there (or they don't report enough!) to actually pay much in taxes. Yet, they are getting a stimulus payment. Now tell me why that's fair?

Even if you can't pay the entire quarterly tax [2008-04-14]
owed, I would at least send in something. Are you employed with taxes being withheld? You can also have extra held out for your federal and state for that matter. Even if it is only $20 a check, it would make a big difference.

I LOVE my Wii! We have had ours since July [2007-12-27]
My husband and I are addicted to it. I think we have about 40 games for it now LOL. My husband is a nurse in a psychiatric hospital, and they used them there for a sort of rewards system for good behavior. We can't wait for Wii Fit with the balance board to come out!

LOL! We got ours at Target back at the end of the July [2007-12-12]
My husband was at Target one day back in July and called me at home to tell me that they had just gotten a bunch of Wii systems in and asked me if he should get one. I told him to get one because you never know when they will have them again, and we had been wanting to get one! We are both totally addicted to it! We keep going to Gamestop to buy more games, and keep buying games on eBay! LOL!

I agree, and began in JULY!!!...awful now... [2007-11-12]
though I do cataloging sometimes..........seems more this year than ever.... but you buy from one, they sell your name, lists of names, and is how you get so many......

We like to go mid-July generally - sm [2007-08-12]
that way it is not right after they got out of school and it breaks up the summer. I also take them on my own up to my dad going again up there last week in August as I am too busy to go earlier.

Sparklers on the 4th of July and also Tin-Can-Alley with all the neighborhood kids. [2007-07-10]

A second to that! Happy Fourth of July.... [2007-07-04]
we live in the greatest country in the world. Regardless of what you think about the war, the president, etc., we are afforded the privilege of being Americans. I certainly don't see people flocking to Mexico, Europe, or Asia to become citizens! Have a wonderful day, no matter what you are doing!

4th of July plans? [2007-07-03]
What is everyone planning on doing for the 4th? We will do the typical: cookout with family but this year we are trying some new receipes like turkey burgers and ostrich burgers, and then we will either set of a few fireworks or go to the park to see the professional fireworks. Either way just really going to enjoy my family even if it rains.

July 4 [2007-07-03]
Unfortunately I am probably working too. I am in Texas where the rain is keeping us all housebound! Have fun!

Rough estimates on boarding pets? [2007-06-04]
I have a friend (not me, honest!) who needs to board 2 mini-pin/chihuahua mixes and 2 guinea pigs for 12 nights. Any rough estimates on what I should tell her to expect to pay? And, when she tours these places, any ideas what to look for aside from the obvious like cleanliness and such. Thanks bunches!

Self-employed/IC and buying a house? [2007-04-10]
Ok, here's my story....I've been an IC for 3-1/2 years and an MT for 6. My husband and I are moving to another state and buying a house. The mortgage company wants me to get a letter from the company that I have a contract with stating that I can continue to receive work from them even after I move. My question is, is this normal to request this?? It seems really unprofessional of me to even ask them to write this letter as I'm NOT an employee of this company. The mortgage guy we're dealing with seems very young and doesn't seem to have experience with self-employed people, so I'm wondering if I really need to get this letter or if we should just use a differnet mortgage company? I would really appreciate it if anyone has been in a similar position could let me know if you needed to get this letter as well. FYI: We have excellent credit and have both been gainfully employed since we were teenagers. Thank you!

I've never paid and quarterly and never been fined either [2007-01-09]

Anyone out there have their baby's ultrasound and gestational estimates not match? [2006-11-13]
I'm 7-8 weeks pregnant according to the last menstrual period; however, at the doctors office on ultrasound today it appeared that I'm only 5-1/2 to 6 weeks. The technician thought she saw a yolk sac. They drew a HCG and will repeat this on Wednesday. Anyone else have this happen and what was the outcome? My husband I are trying to not worry and are focusing on being positive until we find out the lab results on Thursday.

My company pays double time, so I work [2006-11-11]
4 hours spread out through the day onthose days, maybe a few in the morning and then a few at the end of the day. There is never a shortage of people wanting to make double time on these days. At the places I have previously worked, we did an every-other-year thing for both these holidays unless people didn't want towork them, and nobody was forced to.If you don't want to work a certain day for religious beliefs, you should state this up front, otherwise ask them their policy and whether or not that is something that would work for you. You always have a choice not to take that position.

I'm in Florida and spend about $175/wk for 5 sm [2008-11-18]
I5 and 158 lbs, eats more than my husband, who is 6 and 345 lbs. FIL had to have a feeding tube put in last July, and I had to cut down meals by half because we were having so many leftovers and wasting money. Just when I thought I had it figured out, he was able to get the tube removed, so II donwe (FIL and I) will just eat a sandwich or leftovers from the fridge As far as special foods, we dona recipe, and for a while we were buying meat ata butcher shop but have had to cut that out for now. It was really good but was close to DH's work, and if he couldn't pick it up while he was in the area, it was a 45-minute drive. I cook most things from scratch, except lasagna because I hate making it. Once a month, we have a luncheon at church that I bring a dish and a dessert, and I cook Wednesday night dinner there one night per month, but I get reimbursed for the Wednesday night dinner. I do include paper products and toiletries in with my grocery budget but that's it, and I usually go to Sam's once a month for those. I have it easy compared to my parents though. My dad got paid once a month, and there were 4 kids at home all the time, 5 when my sister came up during the summer. They used to have 3 grocery carts slap full of food, and my mom figured out that it took something like 18 boxes of cereal to last a month, each one with a date marked on it so we didnWe also hada freezer to keep extra bread and other things, and my mom also used to mix in powdered milk when the gallon was half-way gone. I never knew until I was grown, so she definitely blended it well.

I would start charging the JA for room and board - sm [2008-11-16]
If he is so lazy he wonfriend, and tell him the gravy train has stopped and he needs (1) to either take the dogs and take care of them himself, (2) start paying you $200 a week to feed and board the dogs (a bargin)--and if he fails to pay the dogs go to a no-kill shelter (and stick to it), (3) in the future if he does take the dogs back, that he has to find other arrangements for their room and board whenever he is away, unless he pays you in advance with cash and supplies the food.-- yeah he will think you are a shrew but who cares, I'd be so mad at both of them, DH for not understanding and being a wuss for not talking to his friend, and the friend for being the typical male and taking advantage of a good thing. Good luck, and stick it to them!

If she lied, she has something to hide. SM [2008-11-16]
First, she was YOUR friend, so if she is dating your ex behind your back and is lying to you about it, she has a reason to lie to you. What would that be? Probably that she was involved long before, as you already suspect. Sometimes it pays to listen to that small still voice inside you that tells you something so ludicrous that you just don But still, there are people who do that. Your husband is right. She does not deserve to have you for a friend. You are too good for her. I would love to have a friend like you, with morals and ethics. It I don Peel off all our skin and we are all the same. Good luck to you. Looks like you got rid of two burdens and took on a wonderful blessing in a new husband. !!

Good for you! [2008-11-13]
You know, every kid has to go through certain experiences in life - some sooner than others. Who knows, this circumstance could have prevented a bigger on, where people were actually hurt, later down the road. She will probably hear that from her father as well and she knows it. Losing text capability (which daddy probably pays for) isn't as devastating as she might think, losing a life is. Some day she will look back and know that you did the right thing.

it can be done - [2008-11-13]
My husband lost his job 2-1/2 years ago due to an accident at work. He has been on WC ever since then and has brought home less than 200 weekly. I basically have been the sole support since then and yes, it has been VERY hard. We lost almost everything and have just managed to start getting things back right and now this mess hits... I am going to be down about $800 this pay period and was down $700 last pay period. Of course, we have no savings to fall back on - used it up long ago. I found a part-time inhouse job that pays by the hour and am starting it as soon as the paperwork is all processed that should at least get the house payment paid, but don't know what we will do about everything else.

One more link from CDC.... [2008-11-12]
Here I clicked on Gardasil Vaccine Reports on the CDC website. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/vaers/FDA_and_CDC_Statement.htm Information from FDA and CDCon Gardasil and its Safety July 22, 2008 Gardasil was tested in over 11,000 women in the United States and around the world, and found to be safe and effective in preventing serious HPV-related diseases. These studies showed that in women who have never been infected by HPV types 6, 11, 16 or 18, the vaccine is highly effective, both in preventing precancerous lesions that often develop into cancer of the cervix, vagina, and vulva, and in preventing genital warts often caused by these HPV types. This vaccine is an important cervical cancer prevention tool that will potentially benefit the health of millions of women. Every year, about 12,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and almost 4,000 die from this disease in the United States. Worldwide, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women, causing an estimated 470,000 new cases and 233,000 deaths per year. Summary Based on the review of available information by FDA and CDC, Gardasil continues to be safe and effective, and its benefits continue to outweigh its risks. CDC has not changed its recommendations for use of Gardasil. FDA has not made any changes to the prescribing information for how the vaccine is used or to the vaccine’s Precautions. In addition, FDA routinely reviews manufacturing information, and has not identified any issues affecting the safety, purity and potency of Gardasil.

That's why I posted [2008-11-10]
There are girls who are getting sick from this. All I would like is for everyone to research this thoroughly before doing it, and please don't only read the docs articles. Of course they are going to say everyone should have it. Guess who pays them bonuses. As for the lady who said in GA its required. I'd move out of that state before I let the government tell me what I should or should not have done medically. Please just don't buy into the hype of it and question, question, question before thinking about it.

I'm not sure if this will work - but it might be worth [2008-10-24]
a try. Does your husband pay the bills or does he give you money to pay them? Make a household budget, including allowances for gas and groceries. Either add in a little extra for the allowances to cover incidentals that might come up or present him with the receipt after he pays. Another thing I would definitely do -- you might want to consult with a divorce attorney. Don Your attorney will tell you what you would be entitled to. Depending on what state you live in, you may even get spousal support for a short time. You should be entitled to have 1/2 of everything you The debt you have accrued will also be shared between him and you. When youboth of your debt regardlesswho charges it. As for your children, you can discuss that with your attorney as well. Let him know your child Only after you are informed by a good divorce attorney, can you decide what Don Find out first and then decide. Most consultations are free or relatively low cost. If you do pay for the consultation, make sure to pay by cash so as not to leave a paper trail. It would be better to make a cash withdrawal on your credit card, if youneed to. Get your ducks in a row before he has a chance to start picking them off. Good luck and keep us posted!

No birth control sales, no candy sales, [2008-10-24]
CHANTILLY, Va. — A new drug store at a Virginia strip mall is putting its faith in an unconventional business plan: No candy. No sodas. And no birth control. Divine Mercy Care Pharmacy is among at least seven pharmacies across the nation that are refusing as a matter of faith to sell contraceptives of any kind, even if a person has a prescription. States across the country have been wrestling with the issue of pharmacists who refuse on religious grounds to dispense birth control or morning-after pills, and some have enacted laws requiring drug stores to fill the prescriptions. In Virginia, though, pharmacists can turn away any prescription for any reason. I am grateful to be able to practice, pharmacy manager Robert Semler said, where my conscience will never be violated and my faith does not have to be checked at the door each morning. Semler ran a similar pharmacy before opening the new store, which is not far from Dulles International Airport. The store only sells items that are health-related, including vitamins, skin care products and over-the-counter medications. On Tuesday, the pharmacy celebrated a blessing from Arlington Bishop Paul S. Loverde. While Divine Mercy Care is not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, it is guided by church teachings on sexuality, which forbid any form of artificial contraception, including morning-after pills, condoms and birth control pills, a common prescription used by millions of women in the U.S. This pharmacy is a vibrant example of our Holy Father said Loverde, who sprinkled holy water on the shelves stocked with painkillers and acne treatments. It will allow families to shop in an environment where their faith is not compromised. The drug store is the seventh in the country to be certified as not prescribing birth control by Pharmacists for Life International. The anti-abortion group estimates that perhaps hundreds of other pharmacies have similar policies, though they have not been certified. Earlier this year in Wisconsin, a state appeals court upheld sanctions against a pharmacist who refused to dispense birth control pills to a woman and wouldn't transfer her prescription elsewhere. Elsewhere, at least seven states require pharmacies or pharmacists to fill contraceptive prescriptions, according to the National Women's Law Center. Four states explicitly give pharmacists the right to turn away any prescriptions, the group said. The Virginia store's policy has drawn scorn from some abortion rights groups, who have already called for a boycott and collected more than 1,000 signatures protesting the pharmacy. If this emboldens other pharmacies in other parts of the state, it could really affect low-income and rural women in terms of access, said Tarina Keene, executive director of the Virginia chapter of the National Abortion Rights Action League. Robert Laird, executive director of Divine Mercy Care, believes many of the estimated 50,000 Catholics within a few miles of the store will support its mission and make up for the roughly 10 percent of business that contraceptives represent in a typical pharmacy. Whether Catholics will be drawn to the pharmacy is uncertain. According to a Gallup poll published last year for an extensive study of U.S. Catholicism called American Catholics Today, 75 percent of U.S. Catholics said you can still be a good Catholic even if you don't obey church teachings on birth control. Catherine Muskett said she plans to shop at the drug store even though she lives more than 20 miles away. Obviously it said Muskett, one of about 75 people who crowded into the tiny shop for Tuesday's ceremony.___On the Net:http://www.dmcpharm.comhttp://www.naralva.org/instate/pharmacy.shtml

STOP!!!! BETTER TAKE A CLOSER LOOK [2008-10-22]
This is what I found when researching this: Just Wondering asked the question; Do the Heat Surge Fireless Flame heaters that the Amish sell really work? It is being advertised in the local paper (The Herald-Dispatch,Huntingto n , WV ). That it is a Miracle Heater. Saves Money: uses less energy than a coffee maker. Stay really warm and slash your heating bill all at the same time. It uses 1500 watts. It is 5119 btu. My question is. Is this really a Miracle Heater? Should I buy one for every room in my house and turn off the heat pump? 10 months ago Report Abuse by John R Member since: July 12, 2007 Total points: 1256 (Level 3) Add to My Contacts Block User Best Answer - Chosen by Asker The ads (which are all over the country) are very misleading. 1. A coffee maker uses a large amount of electricity for about a minute. Itmiracle heater uses less electricity than a coffee maker DURING THAT ONE MINUTE. But you're going to have the heater running for a lot longer than one minute a day. So it's going to cost you a lot more to operate than a coffee maker does. The heater will cost you around 12 cents per hour to operate. The average cost of electricity in the U.S. is 8 cents per 1,000 watts per hour, so 1,500 watts costs 12 cents per hour on average. This is true for ANY 1,500 watt electric heater. 2. The ads say that the heater produces an amazing 5,119 BTU (a measure of heat energy), but ALL 1,500 watt electric heaters produce 5,119 BTU. If an electric heater was 100% efficient, it would convert 1,500 watts of electricity into 5,120 BTU of heat. All electric heaters are nearly 100% efficient, and this has been true for decades. The miracle heater is no more efficient than any other electric heater. 3. The website of the heaterzone heating. See the Saves Money section of the website (www.heatsurge.com). This is true, but it's also true for ANY electric heater. The problem is that a lot of people don't like to have just one room of their house warm while all the others are cold. You DON'T want to heat your entire house by putting an electric heater in each room. That would cost you far more than central heat. Gas central heat, for example, would cost around half as much as having an electric heater in each room. (The exact amount varies depending on what part of the country you live in.) If you want to get one heater and move it around with you, that would be cheaper than central heat, but you can get a lightweight 1,500 watt / 5,119 BTU electric heater with a fan for under $100 at your local hardware store, while the miracle heater costs $350 including shipping. The heater at your local hardware store won't have the Amish-made mantle and the fake flames, but it will work just as well. Make sure to get one with a fan, since it will warm up the room faster, although fans can be noisy. 10 months ago

When gas was over $4/gall I started riding the bus. sm [2008-10-21]
Still to..Hate it but it saves on gas and repairs. My DH is home all day but have finally convinced him to wear sweatshirts etc. We now keep our heat at 65. We turn it up on Saturday night when it is bath night. LOL. We have unplugged everything we can think of, but have not noticed much savings yet as we have a pet turtle that needs heat and filtration. We also change our furnace filters religiously every month. Cuts down on wear and tear on the furnace. We stock up on canned goods etc. when the local store has it's store brand sales going. Our local dollar store is our new best friend. You can get the same brand name stuff, but much cheaper. And as far as bleach etc goes, sometimes the store brand works just as well. I use Angel Food Ministries. It is much easier spending $30 than $150+ for food. They are great and it is restaurant quality food. We also got on the budget plan with our gas company. I hate paying the outrageous prices in July, but it sure is worth it in January.

what is CCCS [2008-10-15]
Hi, I am always afraid of those ads I always hear on the radio about lowering your debt by 70%. never believable. Will you tell me how it goes with them? I am about 12K in debt, and about 9K of it is from back taxes owed which was devastating when I learned that... but thanks to being a self employed transcriptionist... I know take 30% of EVERY paycheck out to taxes. and WOW, my world came crashing down this year when i saw how much i really made... it's pathetic for the hard work i put in and now im drowning in debt at the age of 27 and very very upset about it. I can't even pay down the cards because i can barely pay my bills on this measly salary!

College fund? Yeah ah, what's that? [2008-10-13]
pay their own way. College for my kids is the least of my worries. I am just trying to keep food on the table and the bills paid that keep going up and up. No, I don The hospital I came from that outsourced my job overseas just laid off 30 people last week. It Job hunting? Well let's just say if you can find one that pays more, then go for it, but there's always that learning curve. Thank God I work from home and find no need to purchase new attire for the season. We haven Our salary is $80,000.00 a year combined, and we still live paycheck to paycheck basically with 2 kids to clothe and feed. Christmas? I So, not all is me, me, me, now, now, now... Am I blessed? Yes, I am. We both have jobs and an income and healthcare. Vacation and college????? Privileges as far as I If my kid wants a college education, he He'll have a place to live (right here).

how sad... [2008-09-26]
That statement, women are the men of the house now? I can find absolutely no reason for a woman to get married anymore. Women are working, taking care of the house, taking care of the bills, doing everything is really sad and it is one really sexist remark, isn't it. But marriage is not about who does what, who works or who pays the bills. I married because I loved the man, i wanted to share my life with it. Does he make me crazy sometimes? Yes, of course. Do I do the same to him? Yes, of course. Does that negate the marriage, heck no. Hey, my kids drove me crazy too, and I'm sure they felt the same about me, but I never stopped loving them and never want to be without them. Marriage is about having a partner to go through life with. We have been together through some wonderful times and have seen one another through some horrific times. We have shared all the joys, all the sorrows, all the responsibilities and all of the perks. We have both worked, not worked, paid bills, cleaned, cooked, done laundry, cut grass, gone on field trips and taken screaming kids to doctors' office. That is what marriage is about. If you have forgotten about sharing life with someone you love, I think that is sad.

I don't know what state you're in or if that [2008-09-24]
makes a different but when my husband was hired by the state, he interviewed in July and didn First off, as someone else mentioned below, it depends on what the closing date is. Whether they have 3 applicants or not to interview doesn it goes by the closing date. They legally cannot make their choice until the position is closed. After the closing date, they will do an extensive background check before notifying the chosen applicant. My husband They only check the top choice If his/her background check, doesn After the chosen one You go through a bunch of blood work and a physical exam and a TB test. Then finally, you get a start date. Depending on the type of facility, he may need to go for training. My husband works for the state pen and had to go for 6 weeks of defensive training. All in all, it The waiting is agony, but if he gets the job, it The benefits are unbeatable. Good luck -- hope your hubs gets it!!!

SAFE HAVEN LAW [2008-09-21]
Wow, this just blows me away. Last year or early this year a mother aged 17 or 18 gave birth to her 2nd child without parents or anyone for that matter knowing she was pregnant. She walked into an Omaha Hospital and left her child in a restroom and walked out. Please note at that time Nebraska was the ONLY state which did not have a safe haven law on the books. It was pushed through shortly after and is now a law FINALLY. Which is good because now mothers, who do not want to or cannot take care of their children have a safe place to take them without being in trouble for doing so. Well, to myunderstanding this law (NE only), does not have an age limit as to how old the chid can be when dropped off at the hospital. Other states have it cut off at 14 but none have ever seen a child OVER 3. This information came from a radio show about the new law yesterday. Since the law was put in place a mother dropped off an 11 year old, a different family dropped off a 9 year old and this mornings news has the following IBSYS.ad.AdManager.registerPosition({ iframe: false, addlSz: , element: ad_N700074.5756, interstitials: false, beginDate: , endDate: , getSect: yes, name: smallbrick1, qString: , width: 250, height: 80, section: , useId: 17521112, interactive: false, useSameCategory: false, topic: , swSectionRoot: , useZone: , type: DOM }); if (navigator.vendor && navigator.vendor.indexOf('Apple') == -1) { document.getElementById(none; } function ezConfirm() { if (emailCheck()) { document.getElementById(none; document.getElementById('sideSignupLabel').innerHTML = Thank you. + document.getElementById('signUpEmailInput').value + is now registered for breaking news alerts and daily headline e-mails at 12 noon. ; document.getElementById('browseAllEmail').innerHTML = Manage e-mail subscriptions; if (window.ActiveXObject) { document.getElementById(relative; document.getElementById(-5px; } return true; } else { return false; } } E-Mail News Alerts Get breaking news and daily headlines. A representative from the state Department of Health and Human Services said the girl, 13, was left at Immanuel Hospital around midday. No other details were released. The law does not set a minimum age after which a child can't be left without prosecution. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I agree with the law all the way. I am just concerned about the after shock of having an older child dropped off at the ages stated above, what kind of damage is that doing to the child? I do not agree with child abuse and know that older children are abused all the time but is there not another way we could deal with this? Just wondering what everyone else was thinking.

I use bare minerals and love it. It looks so natural and feels great on. As a matter of fact, I just got married on July 26, 2008 and many of the ladies involved with my wedding were bare minerals users as well. GREAT PRODUCT!

Last summer, my husband and I got suckered into one of those timeshare talks while on vacation. We ended up buying into the trial program. It wasnprice freeze should we decide to buy in after that. After returning home and reviewing the package a little more closely, we decided that we wanted to cancel the trial package. I did a little research online and found that we had 7 days to cancel a timeshare. I immediately sent a certified letter to the resort company requesting to cancel the purchase agreement. They never responded and I ended up calling them to see if they had received my request. They confirmed that they did but that it was non-cancellable. We stopped the autopay that we had set up on a credit card. From that time on, we began to get collection letters. I contacted the real estate commission for that state and asked for this to be investigated, to which I received a blanket letter from them stating that they tried to mediate but that the resort refused to resolve this. The resort basically stated that it was not cancellable and that we owed the money. What I am wondering is, what happens now? The resort said they would continue to pursue this issue through third-party collectors. If I legally am obligated to this debt, why wouldn Why would they continue to draw this out? What effect will it have on my credit score? Anyone ever been in a similar situation? I should also note that we never used this vacation package. It expires July 2009. The total due has now escalated to about $1500 due to their late fees. I don Any suggestions?

What?????? [2008-09-02]
Why would they do that? What the heck is too much internet use??? Does it affect global warming or something I I Stupid question, but do you think MT I know that was a really stupid question because corporate is the definition of greed but.....just had to ask. Itpay to work.

Seems to be like there is more to this story... [2008-09-02]
Part of me says it but another part can see the selfishness behind it. I don't know what I would do in this situation. My husband and I usually mutually see what each other has and are both left with equal in their wallets - unless one has plans for needing more and it would eliminate another ATM trip. I guess a lot would depend if they keep their money separate or have a joint account. With a joint account, its really not his and hers but being separate it becomes more personal for me. In the same breath, they are married and whether he has a job or not you vow to care for one another in times of need...this might be one of those times, unless he's a dead beat and just doesn't want to get a job and she feels she is being taken advantage of in other ways like she pays for everything while he still buys things for his hobbies, beer, etc.

If you do some good internet research you can find out what the dealer actually pays for the car before their mark ups. I bought a new car several years ago and took this information with me. It was about $3000 less than sticker price and I only paid a couple hundred over this base price AND they went to another state to get the car that I wanted because I didn't want to wait for one from the factory. They will push you hard so be ready to stand your ground. Also, ask them to throw in license fees, plates, taxes, etc. in the price. Many places will do this if you finance through them and some will give you a gas card for $50, free oil changes, and what not if you ask at the end. Just remember, the worst they can say is no. You will likely never see this person again. I would recommend using your own bank for financing. If you use theirs I feel they use that to their advantage and finance you the sticker price and make it more difficult to bargain.

I've done it too a couple of times. [2008-08-29]
I moved from OH to FL when I was 19. I wanted to get away from the snow! I had the best time and wouldn't trade the experience for the world. I lived in Atlanta for 5 years, moved from there 5 years ago. The area was way too congested for my liking. Just to go to the grocery store was bumper to bumper traffic. As a matter of fact, there was traffic any time of the day or night. Even when you leave Atlanta and go 1 hour in any direction, you are STILL in traffic! It was ridiculous. The other thing about Atlanta that we did not like is that because of the rapid growth, we had trouble hiring anybody to do anything. We would get estimates for work on our house. They would want the money up front and then say we. It was awful. We ended up always hiring illegals (which there is also an abundance of in Atlanta and surrounding area) who always did a good job and always showed up! It even took 6 weeks to get a phone line put in. I could rant and rave for a long time about Atlanta but you get the picture. I really cannot recommend it. On the other hand, I am feeling a little jealous of your freedom. Do it while you can! Good luck.

This is wonderful. [2008-08-24]
I forget the man ironically enough you can charge it on your card to purchase! So, kind of funny there! I checked out the book at the library instead, figured out what to do, and still have not gotten around to it. I need to get it all down on paper, and I However, he does put his own gas in the car and treats us for different odds and ends, fast food, movie night, day at the beach, you get the picture... The only problem I see with this is the way I get paid. I am an IC. I only have one online company that truly pays me on time. My other accounts I bill every other week but they don Also, the work fluctuates. So, I may make $1.400.00 a month with one account but if the docs go on vacation, that can bring it down to say $600.00 a month. So while your plan, I agree, is wonderful and yes it does work, and yes Ibudget wise income wise for me personally being an IC and having fluctuating work. I might add the online company I range anywhere from 14,000 to 20,000 lines a month given the work is there, I work from a pool; no line quotas, and no set schedule. So, I need to be on my toes to grab the work. I do have a lot of accounts to choose from, but when I go out twice a week to pick-up work, I am away from the computer, hence losing some of those jobs I could have grabbed. I check all day long until 11 p.m. to make sure I take all that I can. Sorry this is so long, but I think thatfloundering on this budget thing where I am never sure if Imy end of the budget every month. I don been doing it 20 years, and love it and love being at home with the kids (school age), but still...

I agree [2008-08-23]
Christmas is for kids. The idea of having to buy for adults is a whole other issue. Like my dad said to me, I really donspiritual reason, they want to get gifts. There is nothing I get more joy from than seeing my niece and nephew open their gifts, the look on their faces to know Santa brought them something, but then get to the adults and it's just ho hum. This is on both sides of my family. I for one, with what I understand is a great percentage of other Americans, get depressed at Christmas. Sure its fun to get together, but it's also a very dark time and I feel more down in the dumps - and I'm not the only one. Christmas is a big marketing tool and that it - plain and simple. Used to be the holiday decorations used to come out the day after thanksgiving and the feeling would be festive. Now the stores (Walmart especially) has started using Christmas for sales before Halloween has even come. What's next we're going to see Walmart advertising to buy for Christmas on the 4th of July.
