Sorry about your baby... [2008-11-19]
Losing a pet is like losinga member of the family. We lost our beloved 9-year-old black lab 4 years ago, the week of Christmas. I had to take him to the vet because out of the blue he had an episode, that he just lied there and wouldn I thought he was dead then. He came to and I took him to the vet. She couldn He died the next day. It broke all of our hearts and when I saw my husband cry (I had never seen him cry before in 13 years of being together), it made the hurt that much worse.
YEAH baby!! Me too. sm [2008-11-18]
About 10 years ago I bought a Honda HX with prototype gas-efficient trannie, light wheels, no frills. That puppy would still be with me if not for the prototype trannie pretty much fizzled on most of the HXs but I milked mine for as long as possible.
Ex had a Prelude, same year (99). He loved the car and took great care of it. Gas was killing him though (uses it to drive and travels a bit). He wanted to keep it in the family so he sold it to me. I drive about 5000 miles a year, if that. Amost 300,000 miles on that one and what a dream it is!!!
He bought a new Civic. Another SWEET car.
My son has a 1990 Accord, bought it used with less than 100,000 miles about 3 years ago. We've put some money into it, mostly cosmetic and just catching stuff up, but it runs like new.
My Civic was actually built in US, so I didn't feel too guilty, but how many years have US automakers had to see the writing on the wall? I'm sorry, but I like keeping a car forever. No car payments are great. Honda fits that mold.
My baby Cody [2008-11-13]
He's an English Bulldog, though about one of the sorriest-looking ones I've ever seen, but he's perfect in my heart.

Baby? lol [2008-11-13]
He looks like a big baby! lol How cute, looks like he poses for pictures often. I would definitely have that one in a frame with that beautiful smile! :)
Third time is the charm! I put my baby as my avatar in my profile. [2008-10-30]

I have heard of giving a book instead of a card and signing the book. Also heard of wrapping the present in a blanket or crib sheet instead of spending money on paper to throw away. I have heard of charging an admission fee of a package or diapers or 1 package of diapers buys a raffle ticket for a prize.
I'm so sorry to hear about your baby. sm [2008-10-24]
No words can help you get over your loss, but know that I feel your pain. I have three bassetts, they are older, and no matter how long you've had a baby, it's sad to lose any pet. You are in my thoughts. You did the right thing.
That's my baby's daddy!!...sm [2008-10-11]
This is my CJ's daddy everyone. He has the same face as my CJ. Awww!! If they were the same color they could be twins. CJ is tan and his dad as you can see is brindle. What a sweet picture! He looks like he is just posing for it!

we are supposed to steal baby human's milk??? Hello?! If mommas in financial distress find out they can sell their breast milk rather than give it to their kid, they are going to do that!
And like PETA said the breast is the best!
an 8 1/2 yo baby-sitting a 6 yo? [2008-09-20]
that seems really young, how long are they alone before the parents get home? Next summer I am considering letting my oldest who will be 14 baby-sit my youngest who will be 11 if i find a job outside the home, but even that makes me nervous.
i'm sorry i don't have any good advice for you. if it were me, i would be tempted to take him to karate class or something so he could learn to open up a can on the brother if necessary
Fun. How about the legs on Gweneth!! Oh baby! No message [2008-09-19]

If she wants to choose whether or not a baby results from sex [2008-09-16]
then she better choose to block that sperm from reaching the egg, because if it does, well then, a baby may very well result from sex. I mean, I understand when it's very, very early, but come on, abortion has really been taken way, way too far, to the point of murder of a full-fledged baby, and some people think, hey, that's okay, it's the mother's decision.
Vegas baby! But no theme, just semi-traditional nm [2008-08-20]

Baby fits...sm [2008-05-08]
I kept my niece this last weekend, and she threw one of these little tantrums I guess you would call it. She is only 7 months but she would throw her head back and buck back and forth and scream and kick. What can you do? You can They are just babies. I don My husband was holding her because I was cooking and he said I think she is just being ugly. So he said I tell you what kid if you do that again you are getting in the playpen and you will just have to sit there and throw your fit. She wouldn And then the little stinker would grin. After she had just threw an awful tantrum. My sister-in-law said she started to do this with her mom too. I don Maybe my son was just a good baby because he cried and all but not throwing his head back and kicking and flopping like that. What advice would you have when keeping a baby that does this? How would you try to deter them from behaving this way or can you?
F.R.E.E. credit report.com baby. LOL. [2008-05-05]
That guy rapping with his little rice burner is HILARIOUS.. I find myself singing that song in the car.

Cat had baby bunny cornered on the porch - sm [2008-04-18]
I heard something screaming on the porch - went to check and cat had a baby bunny cornered. I brought the cat in but the bunny is just staying crouched there scared to death. I don I am afraid of scaring it worse since it is a wild bunny and not used to humans. I want to get a towel or something and snuggle it up but I don Does anyone know the best thing to do??
Miracle baby born with 2 faces [2008-04-09]
This was NOT in the Enquirer. This was really on the first page of the Lakeland Ledger in Florida. An Indian infant was born with two (count them) two full faces. That is four eyes, 2 noses, 2 mouths, and thebaby eats with both mouths. They are calling this child the reincarnation of a Hindu goddess anda temple is being built to this goddess in the small town. The family is being given lots of money and gifts, and visits!
You should see the picture of this kid. Perfectly normal, except each side of the face is a full face. Nothing else wrong that they know of. I did not know what to think today, if I feel sorry for the child, or worried about how this defect will affect her life. Also, what

My ex-husband went to the feed store and a man was there talking about how his hog had only had one baby and that it would not be worth the trouble to let her raise it. My ex-husband asked him what he was going to do with the little one, and he said if he couldn My ex-husband told the man he would take the little pig. Long story short, ourkids are feeding the baby pig with a bottle. Her name is Pinkie. They are in love, LOL. I asked him what made him decide to take this little pig, and he said, We watched Charlotteand I just couldn I am praying that Pinkie makes it.

I have a friend who left her live-in ...sm [2008-11-21]
boyfriend of 11 years who she had a baby with because he was doing drugs and wasn't coming home at night, going to strip clubs after work and not coming home, etc. She lived in MS close to me and her parents and all of her family lived in Las Vegas, NV. She left and never looked back. She said it was the hardest thing she ever had to do but she doesn't regret it and is so much happier now.
No I live in the boonies. In Nothingville. SM [2008-11-21]
I think he has had someone for so long and my mom took care of the bill paying and he never had to worry about bills or shopping or being alone. And now he can't deal with it. They divorced because he was cheating with another woman. I told him go be with her. I mean they are divorced now. If that is what he wants go get it. He said she has a 28 year old son and a 22 year old daughter with a baby who neither one work and lay around her house. He says how am I supposed to be with someone with that kind of mess. He said if I am with her I will basically have to take on her grown kids too. I said well that is her own fault she allows her grown children to be bums. It is just a dang mess. He got himself into it though.
With his bills it is like he can't sit down and say hey I can't pay for 2 vehicles and I have to get rid of one and he has other multiple bills I won't even go into. But if he is struggling to pay for both let one go back. I told him go file bankruptcy if you are having really bad problems with finanes. He said I don't want to file bankruptcy. Oh no. I said well that or lose your stuff. I have tried to give him advice and help him but he won't listen. He is stubborn.
We did something similar [2008-11-20]
but it was a local theater gift card instead of the netflix. I didn't know netflix did such a thing. That's a great idea.
A smore's kit is nice to make or homemade marshmellows (they are not that difficult to make as most people think) with homemade hot chocolate mix and some cute mugs.
Also made fleece throws for everyone for xmas one year. YOu can get the no-sew fleece and just cut a fringe around the edge to finish it.
Offer up a free baby sitting night to the parents, all you need is a card. Tuck it in the tree with their name on it.
If there is something special that you make that someone likes you can make up a basket with many of the ingredients and include the recipe card. If it is cookies or something nonperishable you can include a finished version in the basket.
My family is hurting :( [2008-11-19]
Some of you may remember the recent pet picture postings here. I posted a picture of my baby girl, Daisy, nursing her three babies who arenow nearly two years old. My husbandcame home about an hour and a half ago and went to let them inside, and the only boy (besides the dad), Chewy, did not come with the others. They all always come up on the deck when they hear his car, so he knew something was going on. He came into my office and asked if we had Chewy with us, and then went to see if he had gotten out of the fence. A few minutes later he came in and said that he found him still in the backyard, lying under the trees on a pile of leaves, and that he wasdead. We are all so sad . We do not know what happenedto our baby .. . he had been fine just a couple of hours before, when my son got home from school and went to see the dogs. He said that Chewy was acting no differently than usual and seemed fine. I am just beside myself not knowing what happened to this sweet little guy. He was the SWEETEST EVER and we will miss him dearly. WE LOVE YOU,CHEWY!!! May you rest in peace.

chicken soup [2008-11-18]
Good olJewish penicillin - chicken soup. Use leftover chicken or steamed chicken thighs or breasts if no leftovers are available. Use Swansons natural chicken broth (nosodium) but can use bullion, but it contains a lot of sodium. Use about a quart or moreof natural chicken broth. I like to usebaby carrots whole, but can certainly usesliced carrots. Season with lots ofminced garlic and a little dill weed (maybea teaspoon).I slice in a couple of things ofcelery or sliced celeryhearts with leaves. I sometimes add noodles, or rice, sometimes I use a package of frozen mixed vegetables which are really terrific, depending on what I have available and what type of soupmy family wants.Add some white pepper, not black pepper. Simmer until carrots and celeryare soft. If using pasta or rice, add that last, otherwise it soaks up too much broth and gets soggy. My family would eat this even if they were sick and nothing else appealed to them, that is why I call it Jewish penicillin. This is a Jewish mama Enjoy - it is so simple and so delicious not to mention nutritious and healthy. Note: Never let your chicken leftovers go to waste - make a pot of chicken soup!

This story is so weird to me, I can only wonder... [2008-11-13]
I watched 'The View' today.
How did this man get pregnant? This is a puzzle to me.
And how come that his wife, who had an hysterectomy is BREASTFEEDING the baby?
How did her body produce milk?
Isn't it that one must be pregnant before producing milk? t is all a hormone thing.
This is all so weird to me, downright scary and I do not like it a bit.

yes, she said good bird, bad bird (after she has bitten one of us), I love youo and ibat' hanging upside down, being outside with us and even being on the tree outside the door -- wings are clipped so no danger of her flying away thank heavens.
Actually, she didn't have the surgery [2008-11-13]
She takes hormones to get facial hair and cut her boobs off but she does not have man parts - unless she did have the surgery right after she had the last baby.
She is definitely still 100% woman - not a man by any defintion other than her own.
they smell chemical changes... [2008-11-13]
my friend had kept a retreiver that wandered up and when my friend got pregnant, Fancy would not part from her side until after the baby was born. My neighbor had trouble with her son and his friends. Somehow, the bull got loose and was kept for 2 to 3 days in the front yard (we he would not let any of the potheads in. Anybody doing drugs was greeted with earflapping and then a charge!
I was under the impression... [2008-11-13]
that she had done the surgery, but I really don't follow it all that closely because I don't find a woman having a baby all that spectacular. I have done it once and am about to again--although if I could get the money that she/he gets for appearances, I might tell some stupid story, too.
Breast feeding..... [2008-11-13]
I had a child via a surrogate and I breast fed her. Sometimes just suckling the baby will stimulate milk supply but it is a very long and time consuming process. Also, I used a system called Lact-Aid that uses a small bag that holds formula and has a thin tube that is near the nipple so the baby suckles both the tube for the formula and you for the stimulation to trick your body into producing milk. And yes, I did produce some although not enough for nourishment. I used the system for several weeks just for the bonding.
My most memorable Christmas - [2008-11-12]
Well, actually I have two -
When I was younger (back during the last recession in the 80s), we had moved to Texas for my dad to find work in construction. My family was really homesick and wanted to come back where we were from and decided to move right around Christmas time. Therefore, we were told there would be no Christmas at your house that year. However, on Christmas morning we got up and all had a present that we had really wanted - mind you it was only 1 present, but that was the best present!!!
The next one was when I had first married and my husband was a soldier and we moved away from our family the first week of December. At Christmas, there was no money for presents (not even cards), barely any food to eat, and we had a daughter who was 1. Well, on Christmas morning, the neighbor we had never even spoken to, came over and invited us to dinner with her family and she had bought us a present. I will never forget it. She got us a salt and pepper shaker set and had bought a doll for my baby girl.
Cute! [2008-11-12]

Yeah they say nuetering helps...sm [2008-11-11]
Mine is so sweet I haven't even nuetered him. But there have been some offers to breed him to females and because he is such a wonderful dog I would like to keep his bloodline going with other family pets who are inside family dogs.
Now I can tell you if the dogs were bullying my child such as the ones in San Francisco they would no longer be inside and would probably be kept in some kind of kennel. I would not even trust them to stay in the yard. They would have been under lock and key. I know personally that you can't keep a pit bull locked in a room and expect that he won't get out. I tried that when I left my house because I didn't want him to be free roaming around the house because he is nosy and may get into something or chew something. Well he tore the door down and got out. I was so mad. But I learned that you can't keep them in a room and believe they can't get out. He was about a little less than a year then but now he is so good and don't get into things when I leave him. I guess the puppy in him made him do it. But I cannot express enough that mother should have never kept those pits in the house if there was the slightest problem with her son. Those must have been some mean pits. This irresponsible breeding makes me so mad. I don't want my dog to be some mean killing machine. I want a sweet baby. That is why I thought I would never own a pit but he was such a sweetheart as a pup. He was and still is real laid back.
Just gained 5 lbs. reading above sm [2008-11-11]
Hash brown recipe simply scrumptious, I use crushed potato chips for the topping. I once used grated parmesan cheese (the kind you put on spaghetti) instead of grating it myself and it was absolutely delicious (expensive) but so easy. I also make a carrot cake with the crushed pineapple and use 2 jars of baby food carrots instead of shredding. (Lost that receipe someplace.) Just call me lazy, I guess. Gosh, now I have to go and stuff my face. You all make it sound so good, I can smell it cooking!
I really hate this happened to you...sm [2008-11-10]
It gives all pits a bad name. I am an immense dog lover myself. I love all dogs. There are some pits and Rotties, etc. bred from family pets and bred to be family pets. Unfortunately there are some drug dealers and gangstas who want this big bad dog to go with their gangsta facade. It is so wrong. It is unfortunate because these dogs are all given a bad name for the actions of a few. It makes people weary of them rightfully. My pit came from a mother and father who are big ole babies, inside kept family pets and the grandparents on both sides were family pets too so I do know mine was not intentionally bred to bring out bad traits such as aggressiveness. I knew where he came from and knew what kind of ancestors he had. This eased my mind. My pitbull CJ is a big ole baby. He is weary of a stranger BUT I would never allow him out of the fenced in yard which is in my backyard. He is not allowed even out in my yard in the part that is not fenced in. I am not taking a risk of him biting someone. He is pretty much okay with people even he don't know if they don't approach him. If they give him his space he will give them theirs. That is when I have friends over he doesn't know. But I don't allow him to just be free roaming around and I cannot express how irresponsible that is. The owners should have been paid a visit by the animal control or police and told you keep him in or on a leash or you won't keep him. I am firmly against letting any dog roam free even a poodle I wouldn't because also they can get ran over or anything. It is just flat out irresponsible.
My dog is not unstable, he is protective...sm [2008-11-09]
There's a difference there. I have raised him from a baby and he would not attack unprovoked. Never. And so far he has never attacked. But the only way I could see him ever attacking is if someone tried to hurt me or came in the house he didn't think belonged or something of that sort.
I don't allow people to come in with the dog in the house. I have a fenced in back yard and he is put out there if someone comes over he doesn't know. Sometimes me and my huband have introduced him to people while my husband holds him on a leash to make sure he can't bite. The key is to let him slowly approach the person and sniff and let them talk to him and he will start to wag and sniff and lick. He has to be introduced to strangers and we have successfully introduced him to friends and now when they come over he is wanting to get practically in their lap licking and loving on them. He is like many other dogs who are uneasy with strangers, i.e. chihuahuas, Yorkies, Boxers, German Sheppards, Boston Terriers, etc. (any dog actually) BUT the difference is he is a BIG dog and his size and capability makes him more dangerous IF he does attack but he is just a dog like any other to me. He is just protective. But believe it or not I had a Yorkie who would attack the pitbull on a regular basis. If he was unstable he would have killed the little Yorkie but he didn't. Many times he would just walk away and look at me like mom help me here. One time he had enough and held the Yorkie down with his mouth but didn't leave a mark on him. He was telling him hey I've had enough. If he was mean or vicious he could have easily killed this little dog. But it isn't in his nature. I can't speak for all pits there but mine is not a vicious dog.
Pit bull or not he is a loving dog ...sm [2008-11-09]
who has never attacked and I honestly with all my heart know he would never hurt me. I believe in all honesty he would die to protect me to make sure I wasn't harmed if that is what it took. I know some pits have attacked owners and I believe these were either unstable dogs or abused or provoked. My dog has a respect for me also. He knows I am the boss and when I take a firm tone and let him know I am not happy with him he just bows his head and lays down. I didn't set out to own a pit bull he kind of fell into my lap you could say and I fell in love with him and he with me. I rocked him as a baby and nurtured him and he loves me with everything in him and I love him the same. My ownership of him just happened unexpectedly and I am so grateful it did. When I am sad he licks my tears and is so loving. I know other breeds are capable of this but CJ just happens to be a pitbull. I dont care. His breed is not important. It is the love in his heart. What is inside him. I don't judge a dog for what they are but who they are.
Thanks - see message [2008-11-05]
My kitchen smells wonderful right now - :-)
I was thinking of using the crockpot but instead have a large kettle I'm simmering it in. After I posted the message I read the package and - ding! Low and behold it said simmer 2-1/2 to 3 hours, but like your message think its going to take 4, 5 or even 6 hours.
Thanks for the info about how to tell if its done. That's something I didn't know. So tonight we may be snacking and tomorrow night it will be corned beef with steamed cabbage, carrots, and baby white potatos.

I have been married 15 years....this morning my husband came in and said, Eric said your storage building is ready! You might think I would be happy. He thought I would be. The problem is that in 15 years of marriage I have been able to pick out nothing. I mentioned a few weeks ago that I would like an outside storage building. I mentioned a couple I had seen. My husband did not discuss it with me at all but went to the neighbor and had him build a storage building. I have no idea what it will look like, no idea what size, what color, anything. It wouldn
11 years ago I had just had a baby and my husband picked out our house while I was home recovering from a c-section. He told me this was where we were going to live. He had refused to even look at any of the houses I had liked during my pregnancy. He told me we would remodel this house any way I wanted, get any furniture I wanted. I was so anxious to get out of the rundown noisy apartment building we were in that I agreed to move here. Then of course, no remodeling, no new furniture.
Three years ago I really needed a new car. My husband said he would start looking for one. HE would start looking for one for me. A year later HE had still not found one. I found a used, reasonably priced car and told him I wanted to buy it. He said no. I told him I really needed a vehicle. It was less than $10,000. He finally agreed but was mad at me for a year over it and told his parents that I had gone out and bought myself a new car. It was actually 4 years old. A year ago he bough a boat for $10,000 that I had never even seen and brought it home and announced we had a new boat. Six months ago he bought a $30,000 truck and took me to see it at the dealership after he had already bought it.
So now I am a b*tch for not being happy about the new storage building. woohoo
That's really not nice of him, you poor thing [2008-11-02]
Good that he he let you do the baby!
