67 Firebird is my dream car sm [2008-11-18]
Very similar to the Camaro. My dad had a 67 Firebird when I was younger and sold it when I was about 13 so my brother and I wouldn't be able to fight over it when we could drive. It got wrecked about 2 years later
A mother's dream! My children are young so (sm) [2008-10-29]
right now they say sweet things, well at least my 8 year old does...lol. I only dream that when they are your daughter's age they will think that highly of me :-) Congratulations!
Finally got my main bathroom remodeled. [2008-10-10]

How'd you like to have this view from your bathroom? [2008-08-13]
The presidential suite bathroom at New York's Mandarin Oriental. The 2,640-square-foot suite rents for $14,000 a night.
That bathroom's about the same size as [2008-08-13]
But doesn't it stink up the bathroom? [2008-07-26]
I don I can I realize that bathrooms are made for the purpose of excreting stool, but it seems such a waste to have a tub like that and not use it for its intended purpose.
I always use my garden tub once a week to rejuvenate with a long soak. I figure I'm entitled to that even with the water shortages since I save on gas by not working outside the home.
To each his own I guess!

Put the baby in the bathroom alongside of you, of course, but not in the shower. Just try to get the baby to get the steam from the shower. I used to do this when mine were little, and it worked great.
I have had the same dream [2007-11-06]
about teeth falling out. It is said that underlyling stress/anxiety can cause this, and also fears about personal appearance (think I remember something about money too). It's interesting to read about possible meanings of dreams.
Of course, they say too that sometimes it just means it
I have a couple of weird recurring ones (sm) [2007-11-06]
One is that someone is chasing me and I can fly, so I fly and get away from them. The other is that I am in a public restroom and I am upset because people can see in there - how bizarre is that?
Recurring bathroom dream & ex dream [2007-11-06]
I have a recurring dream about having to go in a public bathroom and not only can everybody see me, but I am barefoot, wearing bell-bottoms and the floor is always wet. Yuck!
I also have recurring dreams about being back with my abusive ex and trying to get me and the kids away from him. We have been divorced 22 years, but I have these dreams frequently!

Never dream of being w/o the kids just - sm [2007-10-17]
the DH.......he is out of town this week, very nice and quiet here, no drama with the kids at night (usually there is something a few times a week, or him picking a fight with me). Though I would not say no to an evening or weekend all by myself, I probably would not know what to do (unless I had work, which I usually do). As for being bored and lonely, no I doubt it. I lived by myself for about 6 months while I was at school, loved every minute of it. I have plenty of interests so I'd find lots to do!

I was a little confused myself, but at the end of the episode Betty walked in and Hildy was crying in her bed. I guess it was her way of getting some closure. I hope that clears it up for you.
Dream Home [2007-08-23]
We just recently built a new home, not total custom build but we got to choose from about 15 different designs, and we chose the flooring, paint colors, fixtures (standard or upgrade), exterior color, brick, etc. The only thing I would change is the two smaller bedrooms (besides the master) could be a little bit larger.
BUT...the landscaping would be what made my dream home complete. I would love to have a nice-sized deck with one of those retractable awnings, with a nice big grill and comfortable seating. I would alsolove to have about an acre of land with some fairly mature trees where I could design wandering paths that would be highlighted by flowering shrubs, fountains, birdhouses, statues....
Dream Home Ideas.... [2007-08-22]
Think of your dream home, and tell me something about it. Something that makes it different or special. Like how one room is made entirely out of fish tanks, or the whole 5th floor is a skating rink. Things like that.. be creative!
Dream Home Ideas [2007-08-22]
An indoor basketball court!! We have the room to create one on the outside because we have three acres (perhaps next spring), but indoors would take care of being able to do this year-round. We live in the country with a good-sized home, but double his and hers vanity sinks, instead of one, would also be nice.
My dream house .... [2007-08-22]
would have more than 1 bathroom and more than 2 closets. We live in the old farmhouse my DH grew up in. It has 4 bedrooms, which is great, but only 2 closets and 1 bathroom for5 people. So my dream house would have at least 2 bathrooms and I would love a huge walk-in closet like I had when I was a kid. It would also have a library with lots of shelves for my books and a big stone fireplace with great furniture to curl up in and read. And if this wonderful house could be situated by the beach, I would be in heaven.
I have a BFA and am an artist sm [2008-11-23]
I am not, at this point, trying to make money at it. I have sold things in the past, however.
Stuff I do:
scratchboard
landscape painting in watercolor and acrylic, some oils
colored pencil drawings for really intense and detailed color
reborning dolls
I design and make rag dolls and their wardrobes
soft sculpture stuff
interior design (have done loads of this for money)
silk ribbon embroidery and regular too
crochet
knitting
tatting (needle and shuttle types)
sewing (a particular passion because I design clothing, draft the patterns and make the item, always fits like a dream)
decorate cakes which I have been paid for
I don't quilt. Because I make garments I can't see the joy behind taking a big piece of fabric, cutting it into little pieces and sewing it back together to make a big piece of fabric. I know there is a lot more to it, but this is what stops me! I don't scrapbook because I don't need another hobby (see above). I especially appreciate the efforts of others with regard to scrapbooking and quilting, because I don't do these things.
I have used my design skills to make a living. I am an extremely good costume designer and I have built some incredible costumes in my time. There is not a lot of money in community theater and more to the point, I don't like theater types. It is not my scene. I prefer to work in a solitary environment without a lot of other people's input. This is probably at the root of my being an MT. The money is good and I have enough time and funding to participate in my avocations.
YEAH baby!! Me too. sm [2008-11-18]
About 10 years ago I bought a Honda HX with prototype gas-efficient trannie, light wheels, no frills. That puppy would still be with me if not for the prototype trannie pretty much fizzled on most of the HXs but I milked mine for as long as possible.
Ex had a Prelude, same year (99). He loved the car and took great care of it. Gas was killing him though (uses it to drive and travels a bit). He wanted to keep it in the family so he sold it to me. I drive about 5000 miles a year, if that. Amost 300,000 miles on that one and what a dream it is!!!
He bought a new Civic. Another SWEET car.
My son has a 1990 Accord, bought it used with less than 100,000 miles about 3 years ago. We've put some money into it, mostly cosmetic and just catching stuff up, but it runs like new.
My Civic was actually built in US, so I didn't feel too guilty, but how many years have US automakers had to see the writing on the wall? I'm sorry, but I like keeping a car forever. No car payments are great. Honda fits that mold.
My DH drives a Chevy Malibu Maxx... [2008-11-17]

My first car was a 1967 red Camaro [2008-11-17]
now a classic, got up to 86,000 miles only replacing the water pump, then my husband wrecked it. I am still mad at him for that one. I now have a 1995 3/4 ton chevy truck, paid for, have 166,000 miles on it, been a very good vehicle - thank you all GM workers. It tows and pull horses like a dream, don't even know anything is back there. Hate cars now.
That stinks. [2008-11-10]
I'd be mad too. I know my friend's who text and those who don't. I also know some of my friends use their cell for everything and others only for emergency. I would call them according to their preference. If we were all in the same hotel, I wouldn't think of a cell phone but would think of the room phones and/or knocking on the door if you were in the same hallway.
Personally, I think its rude to be tied to a cell phone when you are with other people. Everyone knows that if I am busy (that means even just eating dinner at home with my family) I do not answer a cell phone. If its important they will leave a message or call back. If I get 2 calls back to back, I will answer. I think it's disrespectful. Unless of course you have kids but even so my kids would know not to call me to ask where the peanut butter is while I'm out with a friend or at work. It better be a real emergency.
With all that said, I think this is becoming a problem in society in general, not just your group of friends. I went to dinner with several friends recently and they all had their cell phones out. One was taking calls and/or calling those who were missing to see where they were. I was the only one who apparently turned their ringer completely off and left it in my pocket. When I excused myself to the bathroom I checked to see if I had any messages, otherwise things can certainly wait 30 minutes to an hour.
It is just the love they can show...sm [2008-11-08]
You would have to own one. Mine touches my heart. I can't explain it. But he has a geniune love for me. For instance, I went to Walmart this evening and on the way home my husband called and said your dog is depressed looking out the windows for his mama and whining. He shows such genuine love it is just amazing. He waits for me at the door of the bathroom when I get a bath and will whimper and stick his paw under the door. How can you hate an animal capable of such love? It touches me.
The 90210 episode is season 8, episode 3 - sm [2008-11-05]
I remember sometime last year when we were getting Rolling Stone magazine we got an issue with them all over the cover and a huge article inside, certainly coinciding with the release of It Won't Be Soon Before Long. I didn't know who they were then and let the magazine be thrown out. I could kick myself! haha.
A Meet and Greet?? Oh what a dream come true that would be!
Any tips on getting paint out of carpet? sm [2008-11-02]
My daughter had a party tonight with probably 10 kids here. One of the girls spilled a can of paint in the garage they were using for their haunted house and steppedall in it. Rather than staying outside until she got the paint off with the water hose, she tracked it all into my house! I am furious! Of course, she wasn She was playing and put my 16-yo I highly doubt she would go tracking through her home with paint on the bottom of her feet and she even came upstairs laughingsaying I stepped in that paint that we spilled. I said then what are you doing tracking it all through my house, get in the bathroom and wash it off! She is 12 years old and should know better.Kids these days are so disrespectful.........Any tried and true tips for getting paint out of carpet? Should I say something to her parents? This is the same child I almost sent home earlier today because she slapped my 9-yo son and I did call her mom about that and informed her of what happened and if I had any more incidences out of her she was going home. Hitting is not allowed in my house period! Geez, can I say this child will not be a vistor at my house anymore!
Yes. [2008-11-02]
I think this is a reasonable explanation for the lump. About 3 weeks ago my son bent one of his fingers backward while playing and his finger became swollen and bruised. He kept ice on it and it went away. When we went to the pediatrician the next day they felt he had hyperextended the joint and to let them know if it did not continue to improve. It did improve after a few days.
As far as the behavior, I think a lot depends on the age of the child. No one wants to think of their child as a liar but I think all children go through phases of telling stories just because they can and to see how it plays out. No they don't always make sense as to why the child would say that. It's just something they do...from my experience tends to be 1st to 3rd grade age, give or take.
With that being said, I would not assume my child was lying. If the pieces of the puzzle do not fit, which it sounds like these don't, I would investigate further. I would make an appointment for a meeting with the principal. They can cover up all they want but I would want it my complaint documented in my child's file with the school (maybe write a letter to take with you to the meeting) and I would make it clear that if ANYTHING even remotely happens between these 2 children again that you will be filing a complaint with the superintendent's office and you WILL pursue it as far as necessary. After that, I would let this circumstance go.
Thankfully, your daughter seems fine and hopefully the teacher and office have learned their lesson (or will have after you speak to them) and they will keep a better eye on (or get an aide) for this student. I wouldn't involve the other parents. Who knows what kind of parents he has that they don't have him under a special behavioral plan if he has had recurring problems.
A mother's dream! My children are young so (sm) [2008-10-29]

Old part-timer - the laundry soap recipe [2008-10-25]
I found this online and it It also includes the directions and the pricing comparisons included are also very similar to prices in my area.
The only difference is, in my part of the country, Arm Hammer wash soda isn't common on the store shelves and I have to order it online.
Since one of the kiddos is sensitive to perfumes, I will sometimes divide part of one batch into a couple of smaller bottles and add a drop or two of lavender essential oils just for the master bathroom towels and bedsheets.
About my mom, from post below - so upset! sm [2008-10-21]
My daughterWhen my daughter told my mom she didn She has the little girl so scared she won I called my mom and asked her why she would do this. She said it was the girls fault because they didn I asked her if while she was saying all these things, she was unaware of all the times I have asked her not to say these types of things, and if she really did not know she was saying something I wouldn She said she guessed she did know and that maybe she shouldn I just feel so bad though, so bad.
Not a dish but... [2008-10-09]
I have a box for chocolates and a basket on my computer tower under my desk with a bag of jelly beans in it. Everyone started raiding my chocolate so I had to get creative and hide it in another part of the house entirely. lol If anyone else has this problem, the bathroom is great! Its up on top of my tallest cabinet behind a stack of decorative towels. :)

Look at this way, if the patient is terminal and the meds might help, you could spend the time you have left chasing the dream of a cure. I would rather spend the time with my family rather than chasing something that might help me.

How is the economy crisis effecting you? Your budget, your retirement, your family, your FRIENDS families.
How is it effecting the circle you run with? Do you discuss this with family or friends?
It is effecting my family. The gas thing alone is cutting our budget! My youngest started college and is driving back and forth. I've called my aunt who lives close to the school and asked if he could stay with her a few nights a week to save gas money. The drive for him one way is 1 hour. It has already saved us $$$. The fact that he can't find a job isn't helping either. There are no jobs for young people. Even in fast food!
Food prices have effected what we eat! Have you priced CHEESE lately? A 2 cup packages of shredded cheese cost more than a gallon of milk! Food has gotten outrageous.
We have our primary home and we have a small cabin that we go to on weekends. Our primary home is paid for and has been but we do have a mortgage on our cabin. LUCKILY and by the grace of God, we are in a fixed rate situation but it's still difficult. Did we spread ourselves to thin? Sometimes it is tough but we budget and try to be careful with what we spend. Our payment is nowhere near the $1500 per month mortgages people are talking about - and at that price point with an adjustable RATE - I don't know how people are living.
Also lucky that we do not have credit card debt. I've read where the CC companys are raising limits to increase spending while increasing the payment interest as well? I see more and more credit cards being used at the grocery store.
It's all just very scarey for me.
We have some friends who are building their dream home. They have worked and saved for 15 years. The economy is blessing them in some ways since there are a lot of people looking for work but hurt them in others as the price of materials skyrockets!
LOVE Amelia Island [2008-09-19]
We went there several years ago while visiting my sister-in-law in Jacksonville - I picked out a house there and would love to live there some day - hey, I can dream.
I hope they help you both - I had plantar fasciitis (sm) [2008-09-18]
once for two years!! I eventually got a stress fracture (Jones fracture) from walking on the side of my foot to try to avoid the pain. I ended up in a hard cast and then a velcro cast, for a total of four months. When I came out of the cast my fracture was healed and so was the fasciitis. Then, about two months ago, I started having it again in my other foot (my pedal foot) I got so scared that it was going to be another huge ordeal that I started with the Crocs (thanks for correct spelling Lisa :) and Aleve, and the foot stretches and scrunches and stayed consistent and it is almost completely gone....if you can, don't even walk to the bathroom at night without your Crocs on, at least until you are well...best wishes to you both!
You have a lot to deal with here. I suggest (SM) [2008-09-04]
you take 1 issue at a time. You have a good list started...prioritize based on safety and legal issues. Re the will, POA, etc., download some forms from the internet or buy some...they are widely available. Fill out one of them as a draft, leaving blanks where he needs to give input. Then take it to him, go over it with him, and ask what he wants in the blanks. Then compile a final for him to sign and take him to have it notarized, if needed. Then move on to the next thing on the list. I wouldn't make a big deal out of anything, just make dealing with one thing part of your regular routine when you visit him.
Re the house, spend some time making a safe, clean space in it for him to live his daily life...kitchen, one bathroom, to start. Get and install any grab bars or other equipment he might need. Get him a medical alert necklace for his birthday. I found one at WalMart that doesn't require a monitoring service...it dials 9-1-1 in an emergency.
This is just a start, but that is what you need to do, just start. I hope some of these suggestions are useful.
What's inappropriate to some... [2008-08-24]

some spouses just state their plans without thinking of other.....have a brother like that. DH would never dream of leaving us on a holiday. As a matter of fact he quit hunting the fall our first child was due in Novemeber...just in case. DS was actucally born on Thanksgiving Day. My brother-in-law always goes hunting on Thanksgiving but makes it back in time for dinner.
Our Thanksgiving is usually quite hectic. We used to watch the parade (kids are now teens and want to sleep in) while I prepared food to take to my parents or grandparents for lunch and then went to DH family for dinner. I only have to cook a couple of dishes for each meal...never the same ones so I can double a recipe, and I don't mind that to terribly, but I have to clean up 2 major meals after both times feeling stuffed to the gills. This year my parents are going to NY to see the parade, my grandparents are going to my uncle's house, and all we will be doing is going to DH family for dinner. I am actucally looking forward to this. We do the same thing for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. On Christmas Day we go to MIL house in the morning to open gifts....this started after her DH died 18 years ago and we didn't want her to be alone on Christmas morning. We then have brunch and make a mad rush to my parent's for lunch. I would then see my mother (God rest her soul) and then back to my MIL for dinner. Would love to complain about going to MIL twice in one day, but DH sister would still go without us and I would be the bad DIL, just not worth it.
I say go to your parents if at all possible, or spend the day watching the parade with your son, decorating, and making Christmas treats.
Or to heck with keeping the peace....just put your foot down and tell DH he will be home for Thanksgiving! Good luck to you.
