Ok, Idol fans, how did you like last night? [2008-02-21]
I was blown away by the little Filipino girl (sorry have not learned their names yet) and also the 2 after her, 10 thru 12. They actually saved the best for last I thought. Once again this year feel the girls are better singers, for the most part, than the guys. I do not care for the nurse/rocker girl at all and also on the male side the Peter Frampton look alike guy. The girls rock again this year!!

Exactly. And these Obama fans need to give it up. I mean, we don't like sm [2008-02-19]
Obama for numerous reasons and some dumb email isn't going to change my mind either way.

Any Nancy Drew fans? [2007-12-23]
When I shopped for one of my nieces at Circuit City, I stumbled on a Nancy Drew computer game. I don We loved those books when we were kids, but I don My niece is 9, and youngest recommended age is 10. But it was only $20, so we got her one other little hand-held game that was only about $6, so at least she can play that right away.

survivor [2007-12-20]
I'm a lumpectomy survivor and I'd say anything that opens in the front and is easy to get in and out of. Fortunately, I didn't have to have a mastectomy but I would assume there will be frequent exams during the postop course and probably painful to raise arms, if able to at all. I personally liked pajamas with top that buttoned in front - don't have to get completely undressed and easy to get in and out of. Best wishes to your friend. Will say a prayer for her.

Any Dr. Phil fans out there? [2007-12-13]
He came to our town several weeks ago to help kick of the Toys for Tots campaign. Some of that will be featured on his show today.

I got a jacket at a yard sale, still has tags on it. It is a Nascar jacket for Dodge/Havoline/Texaco with the initials BP on it. I am not a Nascar fan, but am trying to figure out which driver is (was) BP. I have tried Google w/o much luck. TIA

How did you get through the time period when your baby was due? I lost my little angel at 11 weeks and the baby was due mid-June. Both my husband and myself have had good and bad days since the miscarriage but I I just about burst into tears when walking into Target tonight I saw a lady that looked like she was around the stage of pregnancy I should have been at. Any advice to keep the sanity?

My husband recycles (scraps). sm [2008-05-22]
My husband recycles/scraps and makes good money at it. If you have a scrap yard near by, your kids may want to check it out. You have to be 18 to get into the yards so you would have to go with them. This is more than picking up bottles along the road. He picks up things like TVs, vacuum cleaners, anything with a motor in it...ceiling fans, etc. You name it he has scrapped it. You have to break everything down into different components...copper with insulation, clean copper, cast iron, cast steel, aluminum etc. You have to take the freon out of A/C units and refrigerators. Scrap copper is $3 a pound here in Michigan. I don't know where you live or what your kids have in mind, but it is a dirty job. I always tell my husband, where else can you get dirty and get paid for it. And my favorite part of his scrapping is watching the guy who runs the crane with the big magnet on it. I want that job when I grow up. LOL. Good luck to your kids.

I thought last night was great, never saw that sm [2008-05-09]
coming. I couldnthose girls unlike Ozzy who was really ticked off. I didn't like how Cirie played the game this year but I like the other 3 girls. Parv or Amanda will win in the end.

Good Comeback for Smokers (from a nonsmoker)! [2008-04-04]
from Fox News Channel dailygut.com or see below. He's funny! I never miss the show! friday's gregalogue: smoking bans and death So I was reading the Economist - ha, just kidding - I am barely literate. Actually someone read it to me, and told me how American smoking bans have led to the deaths of many innocent people. By preventing people from smoking comfortably in bars, more folks die in fatal accidents involving booze. How so? Well, researchers think smokers are driving farther to places where smoking is allowed - like places with outdoor seating, or my intricate system of tunnels near the overpass. And all that somehow leads to more drunk driving, and death. To which I add: Phooey! I read of a far more intriguing theory: that smoking bans make restaurants more attractive to nonsmoking shut-ins, smarmy geeks who can't handle their booze, much less conversation. Finally, they take off their drawstring sweatpants, shave their pimply backs -and hit the town, where they get drunk and kill people. See - it's the callous and unthinking nonsmokers who are to blame - those stupid, fat nonsmoking jerks. Look, I've always hated the smoking ban. I think the health threats from passive smoking are fabricated - and books have been written on the faulty data behind the research. Plus, smoking on the street blows - as a worldwide celebrity it's hard to puff when you're constantly kissed and hugged by adoring fans. It's all just a scam to legislate behavior that people don't like, and has nothing to do with science. Fact is, if you let smokers smoke -only smokers die. That's it. Everyone else is fine. Which is a shame, because I'd really like to take a few vegetarians with me. And if you disagree with me, then you sir are worse than Hitler.

Patrick Swayze has terminal cancer [2008-03-05]
http://www.ogpaper.com/news/news-01750.html Patrick Swayze Cancer Diagnose: 5 weeks to liveSad news reports coming from Hollywood today, actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. According to a report first published by the National Enquirer, Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze has only 5 weeks to live, after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer back in January and the cancer had spread to other organs of his body. According to an insider, there is little hope left for Patrick Swayze, after the cancer failed to respond to the treatments. Pancreatic cancer is a malignant tumor within the pancreatic gland and each year over 30,000 individuals in the United States are diagnosed with this condition. The prognosis is generally regarded as poor, with only few still alive five years after diagnosis, while complete remission still extremely rare. For the past month, Patrick, 55, has been traveling to Stanford University was published in the gossip magazine. The story has not been confirmed by Patrick Swayze or his representatives and fans of the actor could only hope that the cancer story is one of the false stories, which often find their way to ink.

I think it was a pun [2008-02-20]
and not to be taken literally about his last name spelling. It has to do with the totality of the man and where he is coming from. I question why everyone keeps talking about religion of the candidate. His religion does not bother me. It is the political leanings that his congregation seem to hold that worry me. I think that all the BO fans should carefully examine exactly what he has to offer and who he really is and decide if anything about him that is concrete and of value to us as a country. So far, I see nothing and am holding BO in contempt for not showing up to his current job and voting for his constituents who elected him. What if he represents us in a similar fashion if he becomes POTUS? I just think he is so busy being an icon and popular that he is shunning his duty. I don't hold that lightly. I also see where Hillary did not show up to vote either. We need a better way to run elections as it seems that candidates always shirk their duties when one is going on and there ought to be a law against it. I don't know if JM voted or not, but would not be surprised if he didn't. Why do we pay senators and representatives who don't do their jobs? Even more to the point, why did we elect them in the first place?

At least they were more discreet about it. [2008-02-11]
She's even obviously high in her videos, can't even lip sync it right. And I'm sure not many of the ones you named above have shot up heroin, smoked crack, and took ketamine (horse tranquilizers) and ectasy all at once! and then in that state gone on stage completely wasted, get booed and then make nasty comments to the fans. I have nothing against a little partying and we all know many musicians have done drugs, of course, hasn't everyone? BUT do not compare especially the Beatles to this strung out hard-core druggie piece of trash. Get real, lady!

Before this turns into a full blown....sm [2008-02-05]
back and forth free for all, you also don't know me personally to make assumptions about my personality. This has gotten old quickly, so I'll leave with these thoughts. You expressed an opinion saying you were ill about her treatment which you thought was above and beyond. I expressed an opinion, in turn, basically saying if you were in her situation you would want that same protection, considering it's very plausible that it's the obsessive fans and need to know that probably put her in this situation. Opinions are opinions, facts are facts, and considering all the information any of us knows come from cutthroat reporters who are looking to make that big story, it would be rare if anyone knew any true story about a celeb. I know if I were famous and hounded by people 24/7, and having a mental breakdown to boot, you can bet your bippy I'd do whatever in my power to make sure I had nobody around who could violate my privacy any more than it had already been violated. As for the doctors getting suspended, if they weren't on her case, and it's not a teaching hospital, and if she has security, then it's for a reason, and they should have known better than to violate her privacy. Doctors can violate HIPAA just as easily as anyone else, and that's what they were doing, because it's also very possible that those same docs who just wanted a quick peek, probably couldn't keep it to themselves, or they wouldn't have been nosing in her business in the first place. They got less than they deserved. Walk a mile in her shoes. Have sympathy and compassion in your heart for those who need it, which she obviously does!

thank you [2008-01-01]
I appreciate your wisdom. This is certainly one of the most stressful situations I have ever been involved in. Thank you for realizing that the biracial word had nothing to do with my feelings of prejudice. I would do anything possible for these kids. I love them like my own. I am not, however, going to risk losing my job and home trying to take care of them. I can take one and that is it. I prefer to take the baby boy, as I know he is a special needs child and I want to be sure he gets the help he needs. The 2-year-old will be a fighter and a survivor. Although she is the joy of my life, I can't take two, either financially or otherwise. At least there are people like you who have some experience with this and know what I'm dealing with. I'm blown away that someone would bring racism into it or judge my feelings on whether or not I REALLY want any of them. THANKS AGAIN for seeing the real issue here. I appreciate it.

Could be Benny Parsons, though...sm [2007-12-11]
I'm not sure who he drove for, who his sponsor was, or what his number was as we've only been NASCAR fans since 2000 or so. If it is Benny Parsons, hold onto it because he was a Winston Cup champion in the 1970s and has been a NASCAR announcer since we started watching several years ago. Unfortunately, he just passed away in the last year or so after battling cancer. His son is announcing for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series now. So if it is Benny's and it has his number and/or sponsor, etc., it's probably worth more than you paid for it.

me too [2007-12-04]
My desk is set up to watch the birds from my office/sewing room window. In Illinois, we have tons of different species. One of my favorites is a bluebird, only because we don't get that many here. We have a lot of blue buntings that are a very vivid blue - I like those too. Lots of Cardinals - we are St. Louis fans here! Lots of woodpeckers, different varieties. Squirrels, which I have grown to despise - too many, eat everything, damage houses, etc. Chipmunks which are cute, but ate through the screens in our windows in crawl space - nasty little things!

Another cat story . . . [2007-12-02]
BARTLETT, Tenn. -- Tabitha Cain has fed a feral cat she calls Wild Oats for several years, but now she's thinking of changing its name to Survivor. That's because she said the cat survived for 19 days with a peanut butter jar stuck on its head. We tried to get her, but being the type of cat you can said Doretha Cain, Tabitha's mother. The family saw the cat several times and tried in vain to catch her. She disappeared for a week, and the Cains feared the worst. I thought she was going to die with that jar on her head, Tabitha Cain said. They found the once chubby cat on Wednesday, too thin and weak to escape. They caught her with a fishing net and used some oil to get the jar off her head. They gave her water and treated her wounds and on Friday she began to eat again. I Doretha Cain said. Dr. Gerald Blackburn, a veterinarian at Gentle Care Animal hospital in Memphis, said he's heard similar stories of pets getting trapped for days or even weeks at a time and surviving. Blackburn said the cat may have lived off of its excess fat, but Doretha Cain had another explanation. God will take care of animals just like people because that cat is really a miracle, she said.

??? Hist latest book [2007-11-12]
All you James Patterson fans out there, if youYou please tell me your take on it. He is one of my favorite authors, but this book left me hanging. It keeps hyping and building the reader up; you think, So many weird things happen throughout the book that are never explained, and the ending, well that was just plain weird.

But now they may make less on the final movie (sm) [2007-10-23]
I personally may not go see it just in protest of the way she went about all of this. It was strongly marketed to children and I see no reason that Dumbledore, a fictional character who was given no sexual orientation throughout the books, now needs to be deemed as gay. Who cares one way or the other? He I suppose it is because she wants her books and movies to become a cultish type thing that will continue to produce money for her for years to come as people pore over her books trying to find clues that evidence Dumbledore It strongly discredits her in my opinion and I am sure in the minds of many other parents of her child fans.
