So I haven Something I have just been thinking about recently and thought this might be a good place to start. Who knows, maybe someone here has looked into this topic before and can give me some good info. or starting place. :) I have had asthma since early childhood. My mother was recently diagnosed with it for the first time in her late 50s. I am wondering if there is a genetic/hereditary link (or possibility of) and it is something that I should keep in mind with my children. I had always thought it was more due to environmental with me but now I wonder if there could be more to it with my mom being diagnosed. I also have pretty severe allergies and my niece was diagnosed with the same, both of us at the age of 3.

First, her name is Dixie Lucille...she's precious! Second, I am in no way expecting her to be fully potty trained by now, my thing is she poops in her kennel, then gets it all over herself. She goes out at least every hour on the hour. She eats at 7, 12, and 5 every day, then goes out to potty, walk, etc. We did not get her from a *breeder* per se, a neighbor had pups so we got one from her. She was kept outside when she was with her family. We do the whole praise and treat thing when she goes outside. I looked on irs.gov and looked under where is my stimulus payment. It said if you did not send you taxes off until April 15 or close to April 15 you taxes weren't late but the taxes weren't processed by April 15. So you will not get your payment on that date on the schedule. It can be up to 6 weeks later. I mailed mine on April 15 so that is why I didn't get it today.

If you wore loafers, you had to put a coin in each shoe on the top. You would also note a lot of scarves worn rolled over into a band and tied with a knot on the back under the ponytail or the knot pulled to one side - and don't forget the bubblegum. The scarf should also have colors more or less from the skirt with a white cotton button down shirt, short sleeves. Turnips, peeled and cut into wedges or cubes slightly bigger than bite size. Salt. Pepper. Rosemary, dry or fresh, chopped. Garlic cloves (or garlic/onion powder)Olive oil to coat turnips. Butter, either melted and mixed with the olive oil, or pieces on top prior to baking. Total roasting time is 45 to 50 mins. Preheat oven to 375. Mix everything except the garlic together. Roast 15 mins. Stir and add garlic cloves. Roast another 15 mins. Raise heat to 425 and roast until browning (15-20 mins).

Season with lots ofminced garlic and a little dill weed (maybea teaspoon).I slice in a couple of things ofcelery or sliced celeryhearts with leaves. I sometimes add noodles, or rice, sometimes I use a package of frozen mixed vegetables which are really terrific, depending on what I have available and what type of soupmy family wants.Add some white pepper, not black pepper. Simmer until carrots and celeryare soft. If using pasta or rice, add that last, otherwise it soaks up too much broth and gets soggy. My family would eat this even if they were sick and nothing else appealed to them, that is why I call it Jewish penicillin. I think it might be better to just tell the story of the real St. Nicholas who was so generous (Google for specific info on him) and tell your child that in remembrance of his special generosity, you will give some presents in his name (and can still call him the evolved Santa name). That way, there is still some special mystery feeling involved but no lies! My 2nd child really got upset too and so did my nephews. It seems it can teach a child to not trust even his/her own parents when going the old route with the whole Santa thing.

It sucks when you have a parent who has chosen to put other things/people before their children. I donjob and not coming home to see his family for long periods of time. So you kind of feel like why should I feel guilty when he didn't? It is up to you if you want to see him more than the holidays and b-days. My dad has chosen another family over his family. I am 31 years old and my parents divorced this year because my dad was running around. Well according to bank statements he is paying not only the woman's bills but is paying her daughter's car note and her son's electric bill, etc. Anything they want they got it. This woman's kids are in their 20s. I have to work to pay my car note and I am his own daughter. Which I realize it isn't his place anyways. But it is the principal. He has NEVER payed anything for me and I mean NOTHING. He has never given me money at all. My mom has helped me when I needed it but not him. But yet he can give them anything. He doesn't know I have seen those bank statements so he doesn't know what I know. It kind of makes it hard to want to be around him when I know what he does for them and has never done for me or my sister. I kind of know where you are coming from in that I don't specifically care to be around my dad either and sometimes I feel guilty about it. But then again does he feel guilty for what he is doing? Apparently not.

had just read an article in the August Reader's Digest about a man being treated for throat cancer, stage IV. The name is The Farther Shore by Stephen Reynolds, in his 40's. There is an insert in the article that might interest you. HPV and You While few people with HPV get oral cancer, the number is likely to keep rising, says Maura Gillison, M.D., of Johns Hopkins. 20 million Americans are infected, with 6.2 million new cases each year. So far, there is no cure and just one test and only to detect HPV in a woman's cervix. Only a biopsy can tell whether an oral cancer is linked to HPV, but a test to spot high-risk oral infection in men and women and a vaccine for men are both in the works. What you need to know: Most people with HPV infections don't have any symptoms. At least half of sexually active men and women may become infected in their lifetimes. About 23% of women ages 14 to 65 have high-risk HPV, including 35% of 14 to 19 year old girls. Gardasil protects against up to 70% of the HPV types that cause cervical cancer, but it is unknown if the vaccine protects against oral infection in men or women. While most infections clear up on their own without patients ever knowing they were exposed, the consequences can still be severe. For instance, one type of HPV raises the risk of oral cancer of 3,200 percent. The virus speads through any form of sexual activity, and condoms can't fully protect against it. Having more than 5 oral sex partners boosts the risks of HPV linked oral cancer by 340 percent. The statistics that I have read regarding breed specific likelyhood of biting have shown that small dogs (and mixbreeds) are way more likely to be aggressive towards humans and other dogs. Specifically Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, and Jack Russell Terriers to name a few. PitBulls were more likely to show aggression to unfamiliar dogs. I didn't mean to make you feel like your opinion wasn't wanted or valid. Like you said, I believe the OP wanted both sides, just discussing an alternate view point and really looking for more info on your point of view. It's good to have info from people that have different ideas. Something like dosing is not something I have thought about and it completely makes sense. I believe as part of the vote it stated that growing it yourself, for medical reasons, would also be legal - unless I am remembering incorrectly and someone please feel free to correct me. That would bring a valid point of dosing and if you have family members whose to say they aren't going to take a little here and there without medical necessity. Overall I am basically just speaking from experience of watching a family member die of cancer and take all the meds possible without relief and often wondered if this would have been a viable option for their comfort. Had I known where to get it, I probably would have gotten it for them illegally - but I would have had no clue where to begin with such a search. Yes, that's a lot of emotion going in to a big decision but I think emotion is a big part of medical treatment too.

I had always thought it was more due to environmental with me but now I wonder if there could be more to it with my mom being diagnosed. I also have pretty severe allergies and my niece was diagnosed with the same, both of us at the age of 3.

My kitchen smells wonderful right now - :-) I was thinking of using the crockpot but instead have a large kettle I'm simmering it in. After I posted the message I read the package and - ding! Low and behold it said simmer 2-1/2 to 3 hours, but like your message think its going to take 4, 5 or even 6 hours. Thanks for the info about how to tell if its done. That's something I didn't know. So tonight we may be snacking and tomorrow night it will be corned beef with steamed cabbage, carrots, and baby white potatos.

The cardiologists and hospitalists that took care of my mother quite appreciated that I knew her baseline EF, that she had chf, and could give a very detailed medical history to them and knew what they were talking about when my mother could not give them that info last summer . . . AND when I mentioned to my doc one time that I thought I had restless leg syndrome (which yea, I did) during my pregnancy he said, how So it just depends on who ya talk to.

I tried to email you, but the email came back as undeliverable. I don't know a whole lot about ferrets. We inherited this one, but there is a lot of info on the net. I do know that if you get one and let it out of the cage, put it on a harness or hold on to it, or you will have a heck of a time catching it. lol I know some people do not cage them and let them run loose in their house. That's not possible for us, but we do get her out of the cage and play with her.

Good afternoon, I am hopeful someone here can answer my question. Does anyone here type for a pediatrician? I was wondering . . . if a child bent all four fingers in a backwards position, would this action cause a lump to form on the back of the hand? Why do I ask? Well my daughter (in first grade) came home from school with a lump on the back of her tiny hand. At first she did not tell me what happened, but it has since come out that the bully in the class bent her fingers backwards. I I had planned to take her to our doctor to have it checked out, but today the lump is gone. I wrote a note to the school teacher asking that this child (the bully) be kept away from my daughter�now there seems to be this big coverup. This little boy was always in trouble in kindergarten and he was known to throw chairs etc.. .. you name it. As a matter of fact the kindergarten teacher couldn My daughter told me that when this finger bending/spitting occurred that her music teacher sent the boy to the office for punishment . . . now the school claims he was never sent to the office, like this never occurred. And no, I wasn Also, I should mention other parents found out there were coverups over bad behavior when this boy was in kindergarten. What should I do? Would a lump result from this type of bending of the hand? I guess I have to wire my daughter to find out what is going on in the classroom. Any suggestions or answers?

If you try to contact them, the phone number provided is non-operational and you are stuck. Is this berry product available in retail stores? Also, anyone find any pomegrant (sp) juice helpful and who has the best price on it? Need to lose some winter weight and it's not even winter yet. Kind of hard when you sit all day - I know, I know - diet and exercise! Told by my cardiologist to walk but recuperating from surgery, so not that active. TIA

good info and some exercise. Also I know you are right that getting up and getting a shower first thing would help me tremendously. I always fit my shower in sometime during the day but when I worked outside my home and took one first thing it always made me feel better.

I was the one back in late August and then back on Oct. 13 or so----I had racked up a ton of debt on his and my credit cards which he knew nothing about. I finally confessed to him, he reacted pretty well considering the bomb I dropped on him. He does not want to divorce over it thank God but some amazing miracle. Obviosly your situation is a bit more complex. My DH is not that controlling. I was/am the one to get the mail, and would decide what he would see or not see, though he had no scruples about reading my mail, he would get upset if I ever read anything personal sent to him. As I know it is nothing to get bent about I let that one go. He has never cheated and even confirmed that when I confessed my deceit and financial infidelity to him. Luckily he still loves me enough to keep it together. He is trying a little more, though he has backed off doing a few things he used to around the house, I have taken on more responsibility around here, the price I have to pay I guess. I did 85% of it before, now, 95% (he used to cook dinner....now it looks like I get the pleasure of doing it from now on as he has not done it once since the 13th. Granted any reference to buying anyting is , we cannot afford it....which we can, but yes things are going to be a bit tight for the next five years, but we will manage. I have not done it yet, but Monday going to get the wheels rolling and do CCCS for my debts. His will be taken care of soon as we are selling off a bunch of mutual funds from the 401K (loan) so no penalties though with the economy we will have to sell more than we would have a few months ago which stinks. ---He is willing to economize now that he knows there is an issue though (he makes about 4x what I do). You will have to bit the bullet and confess as well. It is not easy. I wrote him a note and then left the house for a short while, then came back and we talked it all out. I figured my marriage would be over, but I think for the kids and still some feelings for me he wants to keep it all together. We have a good life together for the most part and he knows that. We do things together as a family, still have enjoyable sex once a week (took him 9 days after my confession), and are in tune with each other and the kids. Considering it he has been so good after it , you never know your husband might surprise you like mine did. He has not really made any comments for a week now, which is amazing in itself. My DH generally is the type of guy who blames everyone else for his mistakes and takes no responsibility for anything, so that is why it was such a shock that he is handling this all so well. Generally he acts like a 3-y/o and holds grudges. So it is possible your husband can be a standup guy. I guess it will depend on how much he cares for you, keeping the marriage together and not becoming a part-time dad or having to give you the house or a ton of money.....I am sure that all factored in in my situation. All I said was that no one would win in a divorce. He has been divorced before so I know he does not wnat to go thru that again, sees it as personal failure. But I feel so much better for telling him, a huge weight has been lifted. I still have a lot to get thru but the worst is over. I know my streess is still up there some, but I know longer have to worry about him finding out, etc. So you need to formulate a plan, maybe set aside some ready cash, and and tell him what is going on. Please before you take such drastic measures, try everything possible to get your message across in a nice way. The pain of not seeing grandkids is so great and once you lose the offending person you may wish you had them back in your life so you could talk it all over and keep them in your life. My MIL was awful, awful, used to think she suffered from xenerism but miss her. I wish I would have been more patient with her instead of hurting her and my husband by dreading her visits. Life is temporary. I can remember my horror the day my dad showed my grandmother to the door for offering me candy, He literally threw her out. I will never forget how hurt I felt for her. I was only four but my heart was broken and I can still see it in my mind. There are other ways rather than banning someone from your life or your children's lives. I know this will make you even madder, so please don't flame me. Just my humble experience. Unless there is a personal injury, things can be talked over rationally I hope and rules can be set, even if you have to write it down in a nicely-worded card or note. Don't be sorry at the funeral..You have a brain or you wouldn't be a transcriptionist, be the adult but don't be mean about it. Banning is being very drastic IMHO.
