This, I'm sure, would cause my heart to instantly explode.

Well, updated news... [2008-01-04]
…Morning show Today said pulled. You have to listen on a day to day basis to get update on the news, just like the wind blows. If they did not pull I think Disney channel would be a big joke. Supposed to be for kids, good clean shows, not a pregnant 16-year-old unmarried girl.

Oh Ginny! I will be praying for you. Please keep me updated. sm [2007-12-18]
Seeing a post like yours really puts things into perspective. You're so calm. What an inspiration to me! And to everyone who responded, God bless you. You have helped me immensely, and the long lunch I had today with my best friend helped much too! I'll let you all know the results. Was told that the next mammogram won't be until Dec. 27.........

Every time my cuckoo clock goes off, I think it's talking to me. This profession can make you totally NUTS! We went to a casino and every time I pulled the slot machine, I thought of how many lines I was losing. Needless to say, I am not a gambler, worked too hard for those lines, each quarter represents two lines to me - CRAZY!!!!

Unless your "auto" clock has been updated [2007-10-29]
with a new program telling it the new daylight savings time schedule, it is going to change as it was programmed to do. Same with my computer, I did not install the patch from Microsoft to update it so when I got up Sunday morning, it had fallen back so I had to manually change it back and I will have to manually change it next week.

My auto clock fell back too, just had to adjust it... [2007-10-28]
make sure to check yours again next Sunday morning. The auto clocks are on the previously scheduled time change rotation, not the new one (my clock is 2 years old). the newer ones should be on the right schedule.

My NY puter clock is still on the correct time. Wonder [2007-10-28]

I think you have the wrong hotel -- the Flamingo is just updated, we are staying there and they have a 52 plasma TV in the room. Right next to Harrah But completely updated, visit on the web.

my computer updated just fine--sm [2007-03-12]
with the downloaded windows update, but my smartset alarm clock did not. This is the SmartSet I am referring to, not my computer. thanks though.

ok. I see what you are saying now. my clock --sm [2007-03-12]
is two years old and if that is the problem, then I did waste my money on it. Now it will update at the regular daylight savings dates, so I will have to change it again. sheesh. Why can't they just leave things alone! (sorry)

Put your clock ahead for Daylight Savings Time if you didn't do it yet. nm [2007-03-11]

Thank you all who responded. Yes, I definitely want to bring him to my house. I guess I just needed some others who love animals to reassure me. :-) I am going to see if he is there this afternoon and how he reacts when I pet him and if I think I can get him in a carrier by myself. Oh, and do not worry - he will DEFINITELY be neutered ASAP. That is not even an option for my cats! I will keep you updated. Thanks again, everyone! :-)

Everyone seems [2008-11-22]
pretty happy. It doesn't seem prurient. I've been in favor of other situations in which people are free to develop on an internal time clock rather than one imposed externally & in that regard there's probably something to this, but the siblings following the first probably got the idea to continue for a long time from watching, so there's definitely a bias there. Would be interesting for someone to design a study comparing long-time thumb-suckers with children weaned at a later age. This woman would probably say that the experience of breastfeeding can't be duplicated or substituted with a bottle or a plastic nipple because the emotional part of it would be lost. I don't know. I guess it depends on the family involved. I remember on Six Feet Under, how Lisa & Nate were letting Maya sleep in their bed until she decided she didn't want to any more. I think there's just a whole movement out there comprised of people with similar ideas, & until someone does a long-term study, I guess I'd have to say any suggestion that it's out-&-out wrong is just conjecture or has a cultural bias.

I actually think [2008-11-08]
if you look up advice yourself and you don I recently decided to take control and just hunker down, not buy, get on a strict budget, pay my bills in a timely manner after I reviewed some articles online.Seems ya can You are told tokeep an eye on yourcredit score and then seem to be penalized for simply requesting the information. You can certainly buid any negatives up and if you check your report and find something is not accurate, use the time to correct it and have it removed/updated. Good luck. Doneconomy but I do think we all need to be more careful and cautious right now.

Hang out your laundry if possible [2008-10-21]
Start hanging your wash out rather than using the dryer. It will save big, not those pennies they claim you'll save by unplugging your toaster. (By the way, my son, an electrical engineer, claims unplugging your toaster saves nothing. Unplugging a coffee maker if it has a clock does save a little.)

I agree [2008-10-17]
I don't see this as a choice. To me it is an obligation as a parent, part of your job description. Drugs start out small and get bigger. Sure kids make mistakes but it sounds like he should have learned from the first time and didn't. Maybe he needs the disaapointment from his father and maybe he needs the strict side of your husband. Personally, my son would have nothing in his bedroom but a matress, sheet, alarm clock, and clothes when he got home and maybe a copy of the pictures that were found - how's that for harsh. With this I mean no bedroom door, no curtains, nothing. There are 3 things I do not tolerate in life - drugs, lies/cheating, or abuse (physical, emotional, verbal, whatever) it is just not an option in my book.

Yes, just saw that on the news. Here is more [2008-09-27]
BREAKING NEWS updated 11 minutes ago NEW HAVEN, Connecticut - A spokeswoman for screen legend Paul Newman said Saturday that the actor had died at age 83. Spokeswoman Marni Tomljanovic said Newman died Friday of cancer. No other details were immediately available. Newman was nominated for Academy Awards 10 times, winning a regular Oscar in 1987 for The Color of Money and two honorary ones. He was equally at home in comedies such as The Sting and dramas such as Hud. So sad. What a handsome man he was.

SAFE HAVEN LAW [2008-09-21]
Wow, this just blows me away. Last year or early this year a mother aged 17 or 18 gave birth to her 2nd child without parents or anyone for that matter knowing she was pregnant. She walked into an Omaha Hospital and left her child in a restroom and walked out. Please note at that time Nebraska was the ONLY state which did not have a safe haven law on the books. It was pushed through shortly after and is now a law FINALLY. Which is good because now mothers, who do not want to or cannot take care of their children have a safe place to take them without being in trouble for doing so. Well, to myunderstanding this law (NE only), does not have an age limit as to how old the chid can be when dropped off at the hospital. Other states have it cut off at 14 but none have ever seen a child OVER 3. This information came from a radio show about the new law yesterday. Since the law was put in place a mother dropped off an 11 year old, a different family dropped off a 9 year old and this mornings news has the following IBSYS.ad.AdManager.registerPosition({ iframe: false, addlSz: , element: ad_N700074.5756, interstitials: false, beginDate: , endDate: , getSect: yes, name: smallbrick1, qString: , width: 250, height: 80, section: , useId: 17521112, interactive: false, useSameCategory: false, topic: , swSectionRoot: , useZone: , type: DOM }); if (navigator.vendor && navigator.vendor.indexOf('Apple') == -1) { document.getElementById(none; } function ezConfirm() { if (emailCheck()) { document.getElementById(none; document.getElementById('sideSignupLabel').innerHTML = Thank you. + document.getElementById('signUpEmailInput').value + is now registered for breaking news alerts and daily headline e-mails at 12 noon. ; document.getElementById('browseAllEmail').innerHTML = Manage e-mail subscriptions; if (window.ActiveXObject) { document.getElementById(relative; document.getElementById(-5px; } return true; } else { return false; } } E-Mail News Alerts Get breaking news and daily headlines. A representative from the state Department of Health and Human Services said the girl, 13, was left at Immanuel Hospital around midday. No other details were released. The girl was the third child dropped off at Nebraska hospitals in the past week. IBSYS.ad.AdManager.registerPosition({ iframe: false, addlSz: , element: ad_N700074.5ECB, interstitials: false, beginDate: , endDate: , getSect: , name: square, qString: , width: 300, height: 250, section: , useId: 17521112, interactive: false, useSameCategory: false, topic: , swSectionRoot: , useZone: , type: DOM }); The state's safe haven law took effect in July and allows parents to abandon children at hospitals and other locations. The law does not set a minimum age after which a child can't be left without prosecution. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I agree with the law all the way. I am just concerned about the after shock of having an older child dropped off at the ages stated above, what kind of damage is that doing to the child? I do not agree with child abuse and know that older children are abused all the time but is there not another way we could deal with this? Just wondering what everyone else was thinking.

Love the "family tree" idea! My lists inside......... [2008-09-17]
Let's see........ Jewerly for girls - name bracelets and necklaces. Name poems and frames (still get updated requests for these and will be on my list this year). Those kind that say J is for so and so, etc. Rice socks one year. Candles and lotions. I bought the kits to do this with at Hobby Lobby and let my kids help make them. Keepsake boxes. I got the copy paper boxes that are very sturdy, wrapped in material, and decorated the box and top. Makes really good keepsake boxes and you could also do several sized boxes too. Photo albums - also bought plain and decorated with material, ribbons, buttons, etc. Picture frames could be done the same way. One year we made stones for the grandparents. Bought the kits at Hobby Lobby and decorated with stones and engraved sayings on them. You could do hand prints or just about anything. For my mom, we made memory stones of my sister, my grandmother, and my grandfather. We just put one that said in loving memory of and the other's with their names on them. She put them in her rose garden.

Back to school [2008-09-10]
How is everyone doing with back to school? I An update to the school lunch thing that I posted last week. Hubs and I decided to give our 10yo the benefit of the doubt and see what happened without imposing guidelines. Wasn Lunch is his favorite part of school - I wonder why with ice cream, french fries, soda, and pizza to choose from! I called the school and they are starting the program where we can go online at home and see what he chooses, updated every day; it is just not running yet. So to the one who suggested that I ask about that, Thank you! I wonder how many other schools have this and the parent

UPDATE ON HURRICANE GUSTAV [2008-08-30]
Just updated to a Cat 4 Storm near Cuba. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who will be affected by this storm. I hope everyone gets out safely and we definitely SHOULD NOT have a Katrina repeat. So far, it look likes officals are being Proactive and not Reactive as stated by FOX NEWS.

So let me make sure I have this right... [2008-08-22]
because I am fortunate enough to have a husband who has a good job, a great work ethic and both of us have decided to live debt free and are happy that way,I am the bad person here? Wow, how catty and bitchy some women are. Just think, Icould work for a lousy company making peanuts, work around the clock to make those peanuts, eat top ramen, never have anything new, never take a vacation and then come here and complain about my life, my job situation, etc. No thanks. Some of you need to takea step back and figure out why you are so unhappy for anyone whocan manage to make ends meet in this day and age.None of you would turnit down. DH and I are a team, we work together to have a good life and there is nothing wrong with that. Sorry if that offends you; it works out well for us.

Your Roommate is not your Mother. [2008-08-20]
Just an FYI. You probably know if you drink too much. I don't drink, but I did years ago. I just never liked the taste. You get judged enough here, so why continue the abuse when you get off the clock! Drink one for me later!

Have you seen... [2008-05-09]
The advertisement at the bottom of some of these boards for the connect-a-desk? I just think that is the funniest thing. Maybe we could all get our line counts up using one of those and just work round the clock? LOL Nah...

Big brother in action again [2008-04-23]
What happened to freedom of choice? When did what we do off the clock become everyoneagree weneed some authoritywith a conflict of interest to police everyonefor their own good? So whatsomething we do is a risk? In this profession in particular, they could look to disqualify us for being overweight, or the likelihood of carpal tunnel, or any of the other problems that come from being chained to a keyboard the majority of the time. On the other hand, some politicians introduce platforms aimed to force us to buy insurance. But what if you are disqualified by the almighty insurers? You can Something has got to give here, and the madness must stop.

My mom was the only caretaker of my grandmother. There were two other siblings but they never showed up and when my aunt did show up, she didnvisiting with relatives, she certainly did not want that day-to-day around the clock care needed. So my mother got power of attorney for all her needs, thereby eliminating any interference from her siblings. They just didnhelp out but my aunt never offered a dime. Go figure! Long story short, get power of attorney for your father and tend to him yourself. If your sister has a problem with that, too bad. She didn't want the responsibility before and won't have to worry about it now. Sorry this sounds so mean, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

When I worked in-house [2008-04-15]
There were several women whose grown children would call them about 3 or 4 times a day asking their mothers to do stuff that I would think as old as they are the should be doing on their own. One of the mothers spent a good 2 hours on the clock filling out job applications for her son. He was already out of high school.

(((((((((((hugs))))))))))) to you trose...sm [2008-04-09]
I'm so glad you took him in. That's a very scary situation, and I think you did the right thing having him talk to someone right away. I'm very proud of you...it must have been hard, even knowing that you had to. About the eating disorder, keep an eye out for signs. I did want to say though that my hubby and all his buddies as well as my son and all his buddies say they're fat all the time. They rip on each other constantly too. They just walk up and say, *hey fat***, been going a little heavy on the cupcakes?* They all do it--no matter how skinny they are. My 12-year-old is 5 feet tall and weighs 90 pounds. Skinny as a rail, but he says all the time, *gotta feed the fat* or *fat guy in a little car*. Now, I don't mean that you shouldn't take it seriously and watch for it (especially if his friends are concerned), but I thought you might like to hear that sometimes boys are just dumb. We (the wives) always say how mean they are and can you imagine if we did that? Oh, hey mt, (doing my best macho tone) still carrying the baby weight, huh? Can you imageine saying that to a friend?!? We'd all be in tears! Please keep us updated, we'll be thinking about you. One more thing--you might be able to take him into the dentist just for his check up. When they are making themselves throw up, one of the signs is the enamal on the inside of their teeth being damaged or gone.

homeschooling [2008-03-11]
I don't agree with homeschooling being banned, but I do think there should be some kind of oversight to see that the kids are actually getting an education. I had a neighbor in Nebraska who supposedly home schooled her kids. The 10-year-old didn't know anything about a state versus a city versus a county, how to tell time on a non-digital clock, history, etc. He could read and do basic math. Did I think he was getting a proper education? No way!!!! The mom had all good intentions, but had 4 other younger kids, was totally disorganized and her house was mass chaos. No type of structure, organization or schedule. So who's the one losing out? Nebraska had no program to test these kids to make sure they were getting adequate instruction, that the curriculum was pertinent, that the kid would ever be ready for the real world. I think if parents choose to home school, fine, but somebody has to make sure they're getting the job done so the kids are ready for life out of the home. The parents can't be with them forever!

Ayn you are too funny! (picture) [2008-03-08]
This winter has been so long and so cold, I actually forgot about the prospect of a whole new crop of those spiders! I found this TERRIFIC bug identification site and of course there are tons of spiders. If you I love their Bug of the Month on the home page. Their comments about the photos people submit are usually pretty funny. This one picture SLAYS me! If I ever saw THAT in my house, I would first stand frozen in fear for probably a good hour, with wet pants of course (because I would have peed in them), and then I I would NEVER remove the clock to see what exactly it was failing to hide inconspicuously behind it, that

I'm from Maine too! [2008-03-06]
I live in Bangor! I just had to renew my license last year, but I couldn't do it online since it told me that since it was my first time renewing it (I was only 25), I had to go in to get an updated picture taken. I hate that DMV!

I believe you which sucks because this site is just TOO GOOD to stop posting! sm [2008-03-04]
I've always thought she wasn't an honest person to begin with.....first the site was hijacked and then it was being updated. I get it now. Thanks for this. I don't understand why she was so against outsourcing (as am I), and then all of this mess. Thank you for this site.

What a wonderful experience your family is in for! [2008-02-26]

I gotmy little Ellie Bellie when she wasalready weaned, and I enjoyed every minute of raising her...they do growup so fast! Please keep us updated and if you are able to, please POST A PICTURE! Congratulations on your new addition to the family!

Well, you must be at my home 24/7, right [2008-02-14]
I talk with her all the time- I offered the washer and dryer because I have the money to do so, just recently updated my dishwasher, offered mine for hers and my husband I went over and he installed for her. We have offered many times to assist with things around her home, this is not new- she makes less than us, my husband can fix things and he will for her, she has a new home so we are available. We give time and love- just speaking with a hospice patient long distance sorta overrides other things at that point.
