We just got a Garmin Nuvi 350 [2008-07-01]
We My husband and I are both directionally challenged. We always seem to get lost. We haven We also looked up local stuff on it and it was very accurate. We got it from QVC, that way we have 30 days to try it out. If we don Can We ordered it the other week when everything was on easy pay for 5 payments. The total cost (shipping and a dash mount) was $305.00 After reading the reviews, we opted to get the bean bag dash mount, so we could put it in either vehicle.

daughter just said her boyfriend got -- that it will TELL you which way and when to turn, so you don't have to take your eyes off the road. Sounds pretty good!

DH has Garmin mobile on his cell phone - sm [2007-04-14]
In my opinion, this is the best service he has ever gotten. We had the Garmin on going through Atlanta at 7:30 a.m. (traffic nightmare), and the Garmin got us through in record time by avoiding the crowded areas. It took us a little while to figure out the ladyfollow route and not turn around and to figure out she was saying recalculating when we over-shot our exits (which is really great about this service...it follows you around and corrects when you screw up).

Anyone live or work in Manhattan recently? sm [2007-12-21]
We live in NE and our son has just taken a sales job where part of his territory is Manhattan. He cannot afford to say no,and we have no clue as to the subway system, best way to get around, garages to park, places to go and to avoid. The company just said, Have a good holiday, see you Jan. 2. The company is not even located in NY, just his territory. We would like to help but feel totally lost. Any suggestions? We donthe samplesare very heavy to lug around NY city. I feel bad for him but he needs this job. Thanks for any clues on maps, etc. I am sure a Garmin would help but don't know a thing about them either or whether it would be stolen as it will not be built into his vehicle. Are the cheaper ones any good at all? He has enough heavy stuff to lug around. Thanks in advance.

GPS stuff [2007-04-15]
As a family we do something called Geocaching (geocaching.com) which uses GPSs and coordinates from the internet to do a 21st century treasure hunt. Over the past 5 years we Our first Magellan let me download maps, etc... which showed me where restaurants, hotels, etc... were, which was a super bonus on vacation with a 1-year-old and a cranky need-food-now mommy! We vacation in Maine, and there are only so many roads, so if you can! Have you tried out www.thegpsstore.com? They have reviews, etc... that might help you sort out what you need, and what you really don Some systems may cost $75, but you won However, the big bucks versions might have too many bells and whistles that will just make it more of a hassle than a joy. I'd also suggest a sporting goods store, i.e. Cabellas, Dicks Sporting Goods, EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) since the salespeople will more likely have a clue about how to use the thing and be able to tell you pros/cons of each system. Sorry for the ramble . . . hope I didn't confuse the issue even more!
