Is it hard to find considerate people these days? sm [2008-08-18]
seems like no one is considerate of anyone else anymore. I dropped a few friends because of it. A recent friend is being inconsiderate also, husband wonders why I still do things with her. Well, you know, you can People are late, don The way of the world these days I guess.

"Happy Days Are Here Again" [2008-07-25]
I Got A New Attitude works for me, too. :)

Ever have one of those days [2008-07-08]
Ever have one of those days that you type and type and type and after 8 hours look and find you Just am frustrated right now. It I I feel like I Feels like I My DH will walk out one day and find me and rigamortise will have set in and he Guess the heat is just getting to me and I Not so much the heat, I Think I overslept. I function good on 6 hours of sleep and last night I got 8 or so.Oh well, in an hour or so I will be completed with my jobs and then will veg out in front of the TV eating something. Oh yes....what an exciting life I lead here. Okay, that Thought I

YEP - definitely having one of those days... [2008-07-08]
Guy i've been seeing for 6 months left his wife a couple of weeks ago (yay for me) and then he tells me this afternoon that he's got a girlfriend and that it's serious and that she's supposed to be leaving her husband so that the two of them could be happily ever after. Definitely broke my heart - have cried all night, the thought of food makes me sick at my stomach, then my air conditioning goes out on the house and I have to pay a repairman to come out at 8:30pm to fix it. Oh, think I forgot to mention that I'm also married but he won't deal with anything so I have to get things fixed, pay, etc. Definitely a wo is me kinda night! :(

I couldn't put up with 5 days of this. I would [2008-07-07]

I will let you know. She says it may take a few days SM [2008-05-19]
to get back to me. I am concerned for them. I can image how she and her husband feel. I saw them today and she, especially is shaken by this. Thanks for caring.

I would say 2 days if it is just routine lab work. . [2008-05-15]
The lab probably has it completed the day they receive it. The reason I say it may take 2 days is because it might take a day or two for the doctor to review results and get them in your medical record. Special tests might take longer.

These are my good ol days [2008-05-11]
First being of course growing up where all I had to worry bout was studying in school and getting good grades. All four grandparents were alive. Grandma working wardrobe. I'm grateful for what I have but it is very depressing to see everything sky rocket. What used to cost me $100 a week for groceries I'm now spending around $200. So while I am grateful for what I do have I sure do miss the good old days.

The good old days Remember? [2008-05-09]
I don But I have to get things off my chest. I am remembering the good old days of being an MT. I am even remembering the 1980s although those good times led to our recession now. But anyway, remember when you could make 1K a week at MTing, with job security and benefits? A boss who valued you like gold, because he/she knew you had special skills? When customer service was not just to the client but to each other employer to employee and visa versa. I am hanging onto the mustang I bought in 2004 by a thread. It is practically brand new with low miles, because I can It has 1 flat tire and 1 spare because I can And I pay 504 a month for it. Think I can afford that anymore, when my lines don't count spaces anymore, or when the health insurance costs take up most of my checks? I am not complaining. I thank heavens I get to work at home and don't have to pay for clothes, gas, and day care. But remember the days of big incentives that were reachable? 14K lines and you were a star? 12K lines a week was an embarrassment and now 12K lines a payperiod and you are amazing.. Remember eating steak? At a restaurant? Cruises. Being able to go shopping and not having to give an account to DH of every item spent? Having clothes for your kids as they grow out of them that did not come from good will? Please share the good old days here. Even if it is when you typed with tri colored carbon paper and white out, but your boss said thank you every day, and the doctor was not so nasty. Then, the less great days as time when by 2K when computers were upgraded and no more cherry picking because you were now using Transnet. THose were STILL good days because they paid training and downtime. Enough of me. How about the good old days from you? And it does not have to be about MTing, could be about anything. The days when Metros existed and you could get 45 MPH. Or days when Bazooka gum was a penny. Things like that. Looking forward to your response and BTW: TGIF, even to those who work the weekend!

Good old days [2008-05-09]
Unfortunately the good old days are long gone! I think the world in general is in such turmoil it's hard not to get negative. The news has one disaster after another, gas and food prices continue going up and wages don't increase at the same rate, if at all. I guess trying to be positive is a lot tougher these days but what is the alternative? As an afterthought, my good ole days were as a 7 year old playing hopscotch and jumprope outside with my friends or going swimming, playing Miss mary mack (God I know that dates me); and waiting for the ice cream truck to roll on up so I could get the one with the gum inside; also having a mad crush on Davey Jones of the Monkees! :=) He was sooo cute! Just days of simpler times and less problems.

The good 'ol days --- [2008-05-09]
--- were when you could greet people at the airport or see them off, right where they got on the plane. The entire airport was accessible back then. - Taking a long driving vacation through the Southwest, and being able to afford the gas. - Being able to afford my pets' vet bills. - The days before HMO's, when healthcare wasn't 'managed' by cost analysts & pencil-pushers. - Not having to buy the generic brand of EVERYTHING. - The days when everything was brand-name, and there WAS no generic! - MT work was a real JOB, and not just sweatshop labor.

ahhh... those were the days [2008-05-09]
Hopscotch, paper dolls, and hula hoops (and lets don It I am thankful I don

They good ole days are still here....sm [2008-05-09]
I starting MT'ing in 1984, just out of high school. I make more money now than I ever have doing MT. Believe me, there are great accounts out there. I make 1 K a week plus. I count my blessings every moment, especially reading these boards and so many of my fellow MTs are struggling. Believe me, it was a long hard road getting to where I am now. I have been working at home for 18 years now doing MT, editing, QA, my own service, etc. You name it, I have done it. Now, I have a good life with less stress, make great money, and can feel good about my job again. Good things don't last forever, so they say, but I am holding on for the ride of a lifetime or the big crash that may be coming.....LOL!

Yay! Give him a high-5 or chest bump (whatever young people do these days) for me..nm [2008-05-05]

Joe was suspended for a few days sm [2008-03-12]
the boy that first made the comments about killing Joe --- he was suspended for the rest of the school year. (Sorry if i I knowthat kids can talk and say mean things, but nowadays, the kids have to watch what they say. I I told them they can Not that they do talk about killing people. Yes, i would definitely want to know if there wasa girl out there saying my son got her pregnant. I just wonder how things will be when my kids get in high school. sometimes it it seems so different than when i was in school 18 years ago. thanks for your input.

Yahoo email problems last few days? (sm) [2008-02-25]
People are not receiving all of the messages I send and I am not receiving all of theirs for the last few days. Some still go through but not all. Anyone else having this issue?

Tried it for a few days [2008-02-18]
but just couldn't stand the taste of the soup any longer! I also didn't lose any wieght but didn't really have high expections either. I think if you have enough will power to try something like that, then just do Weight Watchers. I haven't done it myself but I've seen many people go through that program and it seems to be a heck of a lot healthier and better overall/long run instead of putting yourself on a liquid diet (because basically that's what you're doing with the Cabbage Soup Diet/Lemonade Diet, etc). People are always looking for the quick & easy way to lose wieght (I won't deny it, myself included). Imagine if we put those efforts of looking for the shortcuts into actually following a real nutrition & exercise plan!

Hey, just keep it on Turner Classic. 31 days of Oscar. GREAT [2008-02-08]
I don't watch network TV, watch MSNBC in the morning (no Brit there). Catch all the Law & Order reruns I can. But I'm all over these movies this month. Lolita was on last night, Casablanca and Rebecca the night before. I haven't seen Brit in a very long time. It is possible!! :-)

Ahhh, well, opinions are like... [2008-02-05]
I'm sure you can finish that one.... Rude, I may be, but not obsessive about celebs' lives. That's gotta count for something. In my mind it does, that's for sure. Don't you have any sympathy/empathy for these people having their private lives just torn apart? They can't even go out to eat, go to a public restroom, drive down the street, without being pestered. It killed Lady Di, which I'm sure you were plastered to the screen and news on that one too, and probably would have been there had you been able....what's one more obsessed fan to follow someone? So call me rude, but I'm a happy rude person who has more to worry about than what the Jones' are up to!

Ahhh the memories, my mother used to bowl [2008-01-31]
on Thursday nights (30yrs ago) and she always made a crockpot of pinto beans since my dad didn't like to eat out. BTW, am having homemade chicken nuggets with a couple of very simple homemade dipping sauces.

Google

I use a timer [2008-09-04]
so My mom got me into this... when I was home visiting she sat a timer in front of me so I couldn't search the internet until I worked a full hour, or 30 or 45 minutes, whichever I chose. Then I could search for a little while... and then right back to turning the timer on. Maybe you could get up and walk around, or watch some TV or something in your break time. It sounds silly and childish, but it actually works. I'll tell you what thogh, some days are just BAD. I promised myself to try to earn $100.00 every day... I was doing great the first three days of the month and now today im worn out. LOL. plus i blame it on politics and me wanting to follow that stuff... and discovering this board... etc. I hope it gets better for you! and I am not a morning person AT ALL, but if you went to bed earlier do you think it would help? It takes a little while to get on that schedule but im seriously in bed by like 10 and up at 6... i get tired in the middle of the day... but once i got past the first couple with no naps, im finding it easier to get up. Good luck! PS how come so many people view posts but only a few answer!?

How do you psych yourself [2008-09-04]
I I find myself constantly coming to this board. Sometimes I just feel I can I just got my first cup of coffee so that will help, but how do you psyche yourselves out to begin working a full day of typing, typing, typing, and more typing, and if you don I So I have to work. I have no choice. But I am so so tired. I I do like my job compared to others I have had, but I think I just feel so burnt out and wonder how other MTs begin their days. PS - I am not a morning person at all. I have tried, tried, tried to get up at 6 am to begin with a walk or some type of exercise but I can Is there a vitamin or something that would perk me up maybe?

So maybe it wasn't [2008-09-03]
LOL Glad I asked. Something about putting dandruff shampoo on the face didn't seem right. I am almost 30 and have had it since about 14. I took accutane and had great skin for about 10 years, now its slowly creeping. I'm preggers so not sure if its the hormones contributing or not but I don't want to take accutane again. I have tried proactive and just about everything out there and nothing helped except the accutane. I'll give this a shot. I have seen the Apricot Scrub in wal-mart but have never tried it. Oh, if you have one or two problem spots that you want to get rid of quickly, Clean and Clear Persa Gel works great. If I know I have a special event coming up I will use that daily for the week or 2 prior and it helps a lot. It clears up any problem within 2 days but within the first day the redness is completely gone.

Dry skin [2008-09-03]
I have that problem with many products too and my skin isn't dry to begin with but rather oily. Sometimes I am not sure which problem is more embarrasing, the scaly dry skin or the acne. I haven't had that problem with product though, even when I use it multiple days in a row.

FLEAS [2008-09-03]
Vacuum AT LEAST every three days. I was paranoid that I had them and vacuumed every day. Dump the vacuum canister or bag as the fleas can get out if you just put it back in the closet or wherever you store it. Also fleas will get into the grooves of hard wood or in the linoleum--so vacuum everywhere. I think it takes 3 days for the eggs to hatch.

It's nothing new......sm [2008-09-02]
but that doesn't make it right. We have a lot of teenagers in our community (and it's a very small one) who are pregnant, one in my oldest son's class and some as young as 12 years old. The one in my son's class was the head twirller last year and has really raised a ruckus because she wants....no, DEMANDS...to be head twirller this year, nevermind the fact that she will be 7 or 8 months pregnant at the time. A lot of kids have quit band because they refuse to stand behind her at football games and in parades, which I think says a lot for some kids. Another girl that is currently pregnant has had as many as 3 abortions in the past, and she is barely 16 years old, if that old. In my opinion, there are too many options available to unwed teenage mothers these days, and there is no repercussion for their err in judgment that landed them in this perdicament. When I was a girl in school, pregnant students did not attend school under any circumstances, let alone participate in extra cirricular activities.

Maybe they should make [2008-09-01]
those with that addiction be totally immersed in it 24/7 for 30 days. If that doesn't cure them, I don't know what will! (Especally the close-ups!) Eeeww!

Talk about HOT! [2008-09-01]
Man is he hot! Whatbutt art. Like finger painting but with the other end. HA HA HA. Anyone now a days in Hollywood that will come out and admit they have a problem and get help for them I commend them, unlike policians who hide it. :-) I just saw him on David Letterman last week. He is still looking great with all the gray. Still as hot as when he first came on the movie scene.

Not too often, but we live about [2008-08-31]
45 minutes away from one set of nieces and nephew and about an hour and a half away from the other set. I don They are actually spending the night with their cousins, my kids. I The set that is 45 minutes away stays over about 3 times a year, the other set only 1 or 2 times a year. Ifyourswant to be at your house frequently, make surethey know that they are responsible for their own messes andhold them to it. It is the least they can do if you are feeding them. My biggest problem with overnights is that one niece won I have actually, at this point, banned her from spending the night anymore. Maybe IShe wreaks havoc on the rhythm of our house and it takes my daughter a couple of days to recover. I think it is really nice that they want to be with you.

What would you do - survival wise [2008-08-30]
Thinking about the storm Gustave (sorry, don If you knew an impending storm (or some other disaster)was heading your way, and you would be out of power for 30 days (no refrigeration or electricity/gas) and was stuck in your home and could not leave (roads blocked or whatever reason) and you had time to prepare ahead of time. What kinds of foods would you have on hand in your emergency stash and what types of things would you eat.

Your post described me :-) [2008-08-29]
Okay, this is the first break I I read your post and laughed because this has exactly happened to me. Over the past few days I havevisited too frequently and got behind on my work, so I made it a point not to visit the site until I finish my work. Gosh - talk about addicted

Exactly - addictive! [2008-08-29]
There are days that I have to force myself not to log on. I have been getting done with my work late this week, especially with the convention.

last night the tests were back from the "air" testing...sm [2008-08-29]
They tested the air in the trunk to see if there was really human decomposition. They didn As of last night they were still waiting on the DNA results of the hair samples from the trunk also. Apparently they can tell if it was from a dead/decomposing body and of course whether or not it was the baby Maybe those came back. Oh! The guy who posted her bond said last night that he was going to revoke it. I'll bet that's it. It was so obvious right from the beginning that she was a lying sack of sh**! First of all, what mother just looks for her missing baby for a month without calling the police? or even telling her own mother? Then, what kind of freakin Not only that but she also had a FEW boyfreinds during it all. Men would be the last thing on my mind and Imight be drinking but it sure wouldn I I wouldn Even with the lame excuse that she gave about some babysitter taking her. If that were the case, then I I I There isn That poor baby girl doesn Casey will get what she deserves in prison though, I can almost guarantee that. And I don The women in there will give her the justice she deserves! You can bet on it!

Stickers/decals [2008-08-27]
From what I can see, they are just little decals on the keyboards these days. Maybe you could find some little stickers (or decals) to put on and then clear coat with something. It is very annoying the way so many things are made so cheaply now!

Remember too well [2008-08-27]
We live in Mississippi now but lived in Florida a very long time, from Miami to Jacksonville and the panhandle. We did sit through a few 1-2 level hurricanes but were fortunate only a few days without power. After Katrina, so many of our friends and family were severely affected from New Orleans to Gulfport. We sat here in MS without power for over a week but lost nothing in it. We did have neighbors and friends that had their homes leveled by huge falling trees and three years later before one got their insurance to cover properly for them to rebuild. We were 200 miles inland with a lot of severe wind damage, so I am sitting on pins and needles knowing another one is heading in this general area and so many friends and family along the coastal areas. Lets just all pray for everyone's safety.

Hmmm.... [2008-08-27]
I think that is a weird attitude to have toward your child. Unfortunately, he is going to be out there is society doing thesebehaviorsthat make him so intolerable at home. It is your responsibility as his parent to ensure that he is fit for society so that he can be accepted and successful. Kicking him out on the road when he I have a 19-year-old and there were days that I was counting down until hewent awayto college, but no matter what, he He is actually starting to act like a human this year, so there is hope. Just make sure you keep your heart open to him and not just wish he was gone. He can feel that from you and will resent you for it. You only get to dothis once, so do your best, not just enough to get him by until he I don Beleive me, I have also had my moments that I was more than harsh with my son, but make sure you give a lot of love too.

He's fighting again today. [2008-08-26]
This time with his younger brother because he doesn His younger brother isalmost 6 and he gets bored easily with video games. Once again, when he got mad, he resorted to violence by kicking his younger brother in his side. It left a red mark. He I didn I told him what the consequences were when he did something like this, ie serious injury to his brother, possible juvy hall for him, and how it can lead to worse things as he gets older. He just doesn I really wanted to fan his @ss, but what would that teach him? Just that violence begets violence. Why does he have to react so intensely? Why can My other 2 children don That That if I were a bad parent, which I definitely think at times, then all 3 of my children would act out, but they don Just him. He He goes to the youth church camps and has no problems whatsoever. He knows right from wrong, he just doesn It I think it Maybe family counseling or something. I know there I spend a lot of time with my kids. All summer long, I We do a lot together as a family and the 2 older ones get to go a lot of places with other people. My children are not neglected in any way. My husband spends a lot of time in the evenings with them, especially the 8-year-old. We know that he demands more attention and we try to give that to him, but this is getting exhausting. I know everyone here has been trying to help and I appreciate that. More than anything, I just need a place to vent. I think it I Maybe there is something to that. It seems to be true in animals. Again, thanks for letting me vent and offering up suggestions or insight. I do appreciate it.

This may be a little late but hope you read the post and it helps [2008-08-24]
There are many sites you can go to. The one I frequent the most is a genealogy forum. Below are some sites I go to often... http://genforum.genealogy.com/ http://www.cyndislist.com/ http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp http://www.familytreesearcher.com/ http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ http://www.cousinconnect.com/ http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ Then if I'm stumped sometimes I'll type in last name and the town and/or country they were born in and a whole bunch of info can be found. I hope the above links have helped. I haven't been to this site in awhile so forgot to check back on my original message. I did find out that one of my husbands great, great (don't know how many greats) married Robert the Bruce, and I found that my grandmother's uncle was the mayor of Preston England. I've found a website that has pics of him. Also is interesting to find out what type of people our in our history. One of my husband's great uncles dressed as a woman to leave ireland (don't know why), and one of his great great uncles was an outlaw from the wild wild west days. It's great fun.

try to negotiate for a lower APR before going to CCC & use the word "hardship" [2008-08-21]
Search Google for credit info center they have great advice there. Try to negotiate for a lower APR yourself first. First call and threaten to cancel, (but do not cancel if they don't help!) and that might get you a lower APR. If that fails write or call back, you have to say the word hardship to them to really work with you if you are not 60 days past due...that is the magic word. Their hardship plan and CCCS looks the same on your credit report, at least you control it by doing it yourself. HTH :)

I agree with trying to negotiate with the CC companies [2008-08-21]
yourself first. That's what I did. We had a medical problem and we went from paying on time for years to 90 days behind in 3 months. We wound up living off the cards...which is an absolute no-no, but couldn't be helped, and wound up with $45,000 in CC debt. I called them all and they all have programs for hardship cases. They set up payments for you which are lower than what you would usually be paying and they lowered my interest rates again (in the good times, I was paying 9%) from 19% to 21% down to 9% again and one company even lowered my interest rate to 6%! They automatically take the money from your account and you just have to remember to keep the moneyin there. Payments are much lower since they lowered the interest rate and all the cards will be paid off in 4 years. One company did close my account, but none of the others did. I haven't used a credit card for 2 years and most of the cards I had for 10 years. Hope this helps and good luck. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Believe it or not we live off those tips. [2008-08-19]
DH gets 2 bucks an hour. He gets none of the surcharge, nothing for gas, nothing for delivery fee you all pay. He gets stiffed, he gets 2 bucks an hour. That is our spending money. Since I am an MT and you know these days what that means, and I watch the kids, he works at the post office and with a church, and the only way to make bills stretch is to live off his tips on pizza. So, we eat mostly the discounted (not free) pizza he gets from work (the left overs people don't pay for or are deadbeats). So next time you tip the pizza guy remember these truths. Our 3 kids depend on the tips, and so does this MT, whose 2 jobs typing goes to bills and growing kids clothes.

I would call the police for sure and [2008-08-19]
state to them you feel there is abuse going on. You can remain anonymous. I once went to look at a puppy for sale and the breeder brought him out into the living room. The puppy wouldn't even come out from under the table. It was so scared. I left there thinking I'd never seen a puppy act that way and it weighed on my mind. A few days later I read in the paper this man had been arrested for cruelty to animals. Trust your instinct and report this.

Of course it will come back if... [2008-08-18]
you go back to eating lots of bread, potatoes, and other high-carb foods. It is a way of living, not just a diet. I have been on it for over a year now and have lost over 20 pounds. I was not overweight, just needed to lose those last few pounds. I have my cheat days where I will eat whatever I want, maybe once or twice a week. If you love steaks and can stay away from the french fries, then it is a fairly easy diet. I don't count my carbs anymore, I just stay away from those high-carb foods and if I notice my weight going up, I will go back on induction for a few days and it comes right off. To the original poster, the ketosis will pass. I had dizziness and shortness of breath but it passed. If you are concerned, I would consult a doctor though. If you have certain medical problems it might end up hurting you.

Bleeding dog (sm) [2008-08-16]
We just had the same thing happen to our Beagle 2 months ago. The little nail on his back claw was ripped out by the root when he was jumping down off the kitchen counter. There was blood everywhere! We rushed him to the vet, and the vet cleaned the area with peroxide and wrapped it with gauze and then Kling wrap. He gave our dog a shot of antibiotics and then oral antibiotics for the next 10 days. We had to keep him in an E-collar to prevent him from chewing it and bring him back for dressing changes. After he finished the antibiotics and had a couple of dressing changes, we kept a small sweat sock over his paw to keep the area clean. You can probably clean it and dress it yourself. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get infected. You might want to put some antibiotic ointment over the area before putting the dressing on. Good luck!
