"It's A Small World After All" -- [2008-08-15]
Ever gone to Disneyland and stood in the long line outside of the Small World ride? They play the song about 4 million times, and that's before you ever even get in there and get into the car, or boat, or whatever it is. By the time you're halfway through the ride, you'll feel ready to jump out and run screaming for the exit. Not to mention having the rest of your day at Disneyland tainted by that song running through your head hour after hour. So then, at the end of the day you attend the Main Street Electrical Parade, and the theme song for that one is even more insidious and intrusive on your brain than Small World! Still worse is the fact that itIt, Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah, and just about every other well-known Disney song. So NOW your poor brain has multiple, unstoppable songs bouncing around the inside of your skull, possibly for DAYS. Yes, those songs are EVIL -- probably some form of Disney Mind Control..........

Check the file size... it might be a very small JPEG - sm [2008-07-29]
so that they'll download/upload faster, and won't overwhelm the website with huge files. To get a less-grainy photo, try asking your daughter to email you the full-size file so you can save it to your computer for printing. For the best print quality, you want lots of pixels.... for example something like 1200 x 1800... to show the best detail. Then use your photo-editing software to make it whatever size you want for printing. When I save photo files to my PC, I usually know right away which ones I want to email (so I change them from large .bmp files to small .jpg files (around 75-200 pixels). If I'm going to be printing them, I just save them as large .bmp files. (When they're large they also come out better if you're going to Photoshop them.... clean up backgrounds, crop, etc.) If I want to email one of the .bmp files to someone later, I can always make it smaller and then copy it as a .jpg file for email purposes. (That way it doesn't take them half an hour to download one photo!)

not only lost breast - but gained a very small man part? [2008-07-23]
that is the comment he/she made on the Oprah show - that he/she had gained that new part also by taking the hormones - I don't understand if she wanted to be a man, why keep all the female parts to have a baby the woman way?

A very small town in West Texas [2008-07-03]
I live in an 890 sq foot rock house. I am guessing at the sq foot actually. It is close to 900 but not quite there. It ihas 2 bedrooms, 1 bath. Metal roof. I live close to the schools. I live 2 blocks from the local hospital. I just applied for a job there in fact. I worked 8 years for a big 300-bed multispeciality hospital that was 35 miles away. I left because of the climbing gas prices and I thought I needed a break from the office politics. I started working for an on-line transcription company and for some reason just cannot seem to produce the lines or make half the money I was making at the hospital. I have been here 6 months already. I applied to another company to try my luck there and they offered me a job but I read in the paper yetserday this little hospital here is hiring. They do light transcription, filing, I forget what else it said. The best part is I will have benes. As I was applying a nurse recognized me and was telling me about them and they have improved since I worked there 10 years ago. I hope the pay has as welland I hope they still like me. LOL.

Too small for me... love my SUV and not giving it up... [2008-06-30]
and will be getting another one. Prius and the like okay for in town driving but I live rurally, shop once a week, load up the SUV and it's done. My gas mileage is 20 -24 mpg and I can afford the gas.

We actually had a small family gathering at my inlaws [2008-05-11]
And we had take out. It was easier to do it that way and a lot more relaxing since they live in a small condo and didn't want to bother with a huge dinner.

also being from a small town... [2008-05-09]
I would call and speak to the principal directly about what you heard. You can do this anonymous if you want, just don't use your phone as they very often have caller id now. I think it is up to the principal to decide if the comments of your child/friends have any merit. The principal should have ALL information and he/she should go from there. To me, my first and foremost priority would be my child. As for this child being falsely accused of something...well...maybe his parents should have taught him to be prepared to deal with the possible consequences of his actions. All kids make mistakes but sooner or later this individual will have to answer for his remarks and take responsibilty for himself - from my point of view, the sooner the better. I would definitely want to know if my child was speaking to others in this manner. I would not want to jump to conclusions but if your gut feelings say to keep your child home from school, do it. Missing a couple days from school is not the end of the world and I am certain he will not be the only one.

You can ask if it is small [2008-04-01]
enough to do without anesthesia, and hopefully your dentist has a good idea of the cavity's size and can judge that for you. Without anesthesia there is some heat and pressure and I guess there was slight pain. Some dentists are extremely good at giving the shots and it's not bad at all. I'm sorry you have your first cavity. I was in my 20s myself. Just don't wait on getting it fixed and you'll just have a small filling that hopefully won't give you any problems for 20 years or more.

Maybe the small town gal coming out in me, [2008-03-28]
but I'd help as much as I could. My mom's that bad with a computer, and after I got it straightened out for her when it was really bad..most of the time it's something really simple. She'll say something like that where her email won't come up and it's just that she's hitting the wrong button or has her number lock key on or something. I guess maybe you could ask yourself if you or your hubby were away and something happened, would they help you? If the answer is no, then by all means let them fend for themselves. Like I said, might be the small town gal in me, but we help our neighbors any time they need it and we're able to.

start with small steps [2008-02-03]
It does sound like separation anxiety. I I start with small steps -- going out and driving around a couple of blocks and then coming back home again. Then I increase the amount of time I am driving little by little. She knows Mom will be back this way and over time has gotten used to my being gone for hours. She had been abused when I got her and was a wreck emotionally so I hope this gives you comfort. I also keep the atmosphere at home the same when I go out as when I am home -- radio playing, lights on, etc. No drastic changes except for me being gone. My pets like New Age. Puts them right to sleep. (me too sometimes). If you have an answering machine, call home and just talk to the dog as you would if you were there. Let him hear your voice. He might just think you are in another room, but with your dog he might tear down the doors to get to you so I don I also have a roomy crate near my desk and I keep a pair of slippers near it. I have a couple of cats and a dog. They all argue over whospecial place. The door is left open all the time. Often I find them all in there snuggled up together. But this gives them a feeling of a special place whether I am here or not. They have their place, I have mine. I think this helps when I am gone because I often find my dog has dragged her favorite blanket over to the crate while I was gone. My scent is on the slippers and that comforts her. Also, bringing home a treat helps! I have a cat who pries the cabinet doors open and curls up inside the frying pans. Now I have an obstacle course of buckets, etc. to climb over as I work at the counter! (IfI move them, I forget to put them back until I hear him close the cabinet door behind himself.) There are more tricks out there somewhere but I can Hope you find something that works for you. That's a BIG problem in more ways than one!

I hate to even post this but here in my own town is a black woman with the name [2008-01-29]

I have thought about this too. [2008-08-17]
But never seem to get the guts to make the leap into it. I love to cook and garden. Thinking I want to prepare this year to start at the local farmerbusiness. Seems like they can be a lot of work if successful and that worries me a little.

I usually give $5, or 20% depending on how much I order. [2008-08-16]
I know they work hard for their money, and believe it or not, there are still a lot of people out there that NEVER tip so I try to make a small difference. I know people in my family who have NEVER tipped and do not feel like they have to. I think it's rude consider wait staff usually never makes minimum wage and something like $3.35 plus tips, so, they are very dependent on tips to make a liveable wage.

Haven pepperoni and green olive, extra cheese for me), from Valentinos in Nebraska, where I grew up...get the half baked, and then they will freeze them, and send overnight, FedEx, packed in dry ice. Last time, I think the pizza charge was around $45. Delivery charge from FedEx was over $60..... Expensive pizza...you betcha, and worth every penny once every year or two....... And so......Nope, nada, zilch..... pizza delivery guy gets nothing from me.....lololol.......

Bleeding dog (sm) [2008-08-16]
We just had the same thing happen to our Beagle 2 months ago. The little nail on his back claw was ripped out by the root when he was jumping down off the kitchen counter. There was blood everywhere! We rushed him to the vet, and the vet cleaned the area with peroxide and wrapped it with gauze and then Kling wrap. He gave our dog a shot of antibiotics and then oral antibiotics for the next 10 days. We had to keep him in an E-collar to prevent him from chewing it and bring him back for dressing changes. After he finished the antibiotics and had a couple of dressing changes, we kept a small sweat sock over his paw to keep the area clean. You can probably clean it and dress it yourself. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get infected. You might want to put some antibiotic ointment over the area before putting the dressing on. Good luck!

This is what I used to do (sm) [2008-08-13]
My parents and brother used to go to my dad's mom and dad's house every year for Thanksgiving. My grandpa used to be a professional chef, so he would cook up a feast. Anyway, G-pa and G-ma also had dogs and smoked like chimneys, and as a steroid-dependent asthmatic with allergies, I couldn't go to their house. I had to stay home. (I tried for a number of years to go with them, but I would get quite sick just being there.) Anyway, I would stay home and do the Christmas tree. We had a huge artificial one that was beautiful. Separating the branches to make the tree look just right took about as long of time as they were gone--about 4 hours. When my parents and brother came home, my mom and brother and I would put up Christmas ornaments. Now that I have my own house and lovely family, we have had big Thanksgivings and also very small Thanksgivings. Both are great. Since hubby is an RN, sometimes we do T-giving on a different day than the actual Turkey Day because he has to work.

I bargain hunt for clearance items [2008-08-12]
and resell them on ebay for a small profit. I also go to estate sales to find used hard to find stuff and resell on ebay. I usually stock pile the stuff I know are good sellers and sell them around Thanksgiving time and before Christmas. I made just over $400 last Christmas. It was a very nice amount and made our Christmas very nice. I also have an online store on ioffer.com that I sell some of the stuff.

Digital Camera [2008-08-12]
I have a digital camera that is only about 2 years old. I used it one day and it was fine. My husband used it the next day and the display does not show the picture or any information. I have not taken it into a camera shop yet but plan to as soon as I can get there. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before? Can it be fixed? Is it expensive? I hope I don It still works, I just cannot preview the pictures, take videos, see the battery life orhow many pictures I have taken, change settingsor anything because I can't see the display. Second to this note, if I do have to get a new one I am looking for suggestions. I currently have a Sony, so I would like to use the same memory cards (very expensive and I have 3). BUT, I do not like the delay on my current camera and would likea digitalwithout delay but had a hard time finding one when I bought this camera. Of course, small and compact size is also a feature that I like.

have you hadtesting done to be sure that you need the Clomidto ovulate? Have you had hormone tests, check your fallopian tubes, check uterus for fibroids, endometrial biopsy, etc., sperm count/analysis for husband? I know some who Clomid has worked for. The reason I ask, although keep in mind this was back in the dark ages in the Had an old-fashioned doc that I just loved to pieces but would have been in my best interests to get to a larger city with more sophisticated methods as it turned out. Went through lab tests, laparoscopies, laparotomies, hysteroscopies, etc., husband had multiple tests, had my tubes examined to see if open and always were, years of taking the Clomid and back then basal body temperatures, which probably still isn Turned out, when finally suggested, to have a diagnostic DC, had multiple fibroids and retained products of conception from a previous missed abortion, which we knew about, which I guess my old doc back then didnC afterwards at 10 weeks. I got pregnant immediately after removal of all that...thus, my question as to what else you have had tested to be sure you just need the Clomid. Also, gave myself Pergonal injections for awhile instead of the Clomid before I had the surgery, more powerful stuff and more chance of multiples. Six months forward after delivery, decided wanted to try again (always wanted a lot of kids since I come from a really small family) since wasn Old doc retires, go to a new doc. He does a laparoscopy, says my ovaries are so stuck together and to abdominal wall that I would be very, very lucky to ever get pregnant again, just keep taking the Clomid to kick out the eggs and maybe a lucky egg would find it Yikes! Continued for awhile, 3 years, and decided to go to Denver. Doc there, still back in the I won't go into all the complications I encountered along the way with both these pregnancies, was just very lucky and in decent health and shape for my age back then, and had some docs on the ball. Sorry, not trying to make this about me, but it brings back those memories of the desperation of so much wanting a baby and the frustration, and really hope it works out for you and wanted to throw out any suggestions I could think of. I never had anyone to talk to back then, everyone always said, aren Have you had any abdominal surgeries in the past? just in case you haveadhesions or something in there that could be blocking things. Are you sure you You might want to check into doing those tests twice a day as you might miss the ovulation from doing the test from onedayto the next. Are you timing them according to the length of your cycles? Not saying Clomid wonpossibly be preventing pregancy. I wasted a lot of years before finallyfinding out what the problem really was and didn't need the Clomid after all. Good luck to you and your husband! sending good vibes your way... Ask lots of questions and do research on your own, too. I know what a strain it can be on the two of you, just Hope I haven't offended you by all of this, just throwing out suggestions from my experience.

Kids, animals and ghosts (sm) [2008-08-06]
When we first moved into our home, our then 2 year-old dog had a habit of chasing us and playfully biting our heels, shifting from heel to heel. One day he did that when there was no one there, chasing his invisible friend all the way to the wall. I used to feel the presence of someone here all the time. In the middle of the night, every night, for years, I would suddenly feel something hit the mattress at the foot of the bed, like someone would walk by and just pat the mattress hard or jump on it (though they couldnwho is that white guy who comes in here at night? This house was built in 1959, the man who built it died in the yard next door, building his daughter His wife lived here for many years after that and passed away in the hospital about a year before we moved in. I never felt there was any malicious spirit here but it still disturbed me some. One day I walked around he entire house, step by step, carrying aBiblesaying, this house belongs to God in Jesus I also felt the presence of something in the hall and I told it to leave this house, felt it stayed, and said in a very firm voice, NOW! I never felt anything hit the bed again, haven I spent my whole childhood being afraid of ghosts....glad they don't have to feel that way.

my husband had them a few years ago [2008-08-06]
He was in a lot of pain. Had to keep them covered at all times because we have small children who have not chickenpox yet. He took Vicodin like they were candy. He couldn He has them front and back on the same side. They usually do not cross over. If you work with food, make sure you wear gloves to avoid contamination, especially if you are cooking for more than yourself. Good luck. I hope they heal quickly and that you have minimal pain. I will keep you in my prayers.

Standing up for myself. [2008-08-04]
I had to live with an aunt during my high school years. She always loved to keep kids but always had a problem with the mothers because she claimed they never disciplined their children. She is a firm believer in spankings and tries to enforce it into other young mothers. I always rolled my eyes ignored it because I figured the mothers would eventually find another babysitter. She also kept foster kids butgot them takenaway forsome reason. She said a kid claimed she was beating them too much and theblank blank State believed the kid over her. I was already in high school when I lived with her so she never touched me, just yelled at me a lot and I kept in my room until I was able to move out on my own. Anyway, H likes to talk to her husband and seems to like to go visit. We visit maybe once a month. We have 2 children ages 2 and 6. If they are talking loudly or laughing loudly she threatens them with a flyswatter. She has gotten the flyswatter out and gave it to me to spank them, which I did not. She also gets offended and threatens them if they sit on the couch too close together. She tells me that her kids never acted as bad as mine because she carried a hairbrush or a flyswatter everywhere they went and spanked them with it all the time. She also claims that her DILsare lazy, wimpy and stoopid because their kids misbehave and they donLazy, wimpy and stoopid is actuallya nicer way of putting it then what sheactually said. She started in on one of her DILs at a family gathering and got awhole plateof foodher face. She is so proud of herself because she raised 3 boys and spanked them all the time. Maybe they behaved well as children but the are now adults with issues. One is an alcoholic and never comes to visit, one isdead (car accident drunk),the otherdrinks a lot and cannot seem to wipe his own tail. What if the next time she hands me a flyswatter, can I swat her with it? Just tell her that she was the one who taught me how to handle people who get out of line. Seriously, I really should say something when it happens but I just leave, then go home and stew. I am way too much of a pushover and don Maybe I am out of line but I cannot understand why someone would take it upon themselves to decide how and when to discipline someone elsemethod parenting on someone else. H and I take full responsibility for our children financially, getting them to school, babysitters (which makes her mad, why pay someone else, she needs the money). We never depend on her for anything with the girls. My 6-year-old does not really get in trouble in school that much except for talking. The teachers say she at the top of her class and an advanced student. The daycare has yet to say anything negative about my 2-year-oldbehavior and she has been in there since she was 6 weeks old. They cannot be as bad as she is insinuating they are. Hjust says, well if it bothers youthat muchwe won it also bothers me that she is going around town telling everyone how mykids are unruly and I dondo anything to discipline them. My boss has told me how derogatory she has been toward us, her children and grandchildren that she does not even like to talk to her.

What kind of dog do you have? It's hard to beat natural instinct. [2008-08-04]
My cat keeps killing birds and laying them on my front porch as little gifts for me. I But thankfully my cat goes after small prey. My neighbors cat brought home a big fat rat the other morning! YUK!!! I don't know where he got it and I don't want know! Good luck!

thing, nothing is safe from them. Our recent one grabbed the family cat once, luckily we were all there, miscommunication, someone let him in without the gate up, cat happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, dog came in, saw her and lunged. I grabbed him and pried his mouth off the cat (whose body was fully in his mouth as he grabbed her over her back). She escaped (minus several lives) with losing just a tiny tuft of fur, no blood, no cuts. But he doesn't even like small dogs....kids want to get a puppy soon but not sure if that is going to work or not. He has slowed down some now though and is almost 7 so it might work, but would have to be very careful. He is good dog though, big boy at 82 pounds, quite large for a purebred husky (not fat).

Love to read [2008-08-01]
I LOVE Nora Roberts books also...In the past few months, I have read her MacGregor Brides and Grooms books and High Noon. High Noon was great! MacGregor stories are really light reads and I buzz through those quickly. Debbie Macomber and Fern Michaels are two others that I enjoy reading a lot.Macomber has a series that she releases one new book each September, Cedar Cove series, that is set through a whole town and each book is the address of somebodyThe first one is 16 Lighthouse Road, 204 Rosewood Lane, 311 Pelican Court.... she is releasing the 8th book now. I also read her Someday Soon book... really good as well! Fern Michaels has the Sisterhood Series and I just got done reading Free Fall. There is another one that was just released or is being released so I will need to get that one next. I love to read all sorts... Patricia Cornwell is my favorite for murder/mystery. Two other really good books are Ann Tatlock I Redeeming Love.

Can't have wait time if you have a child in shunt failure [2008-07-31]
My daughter has shunted hydrocephalus. She's gone from a normal-acting child with no symptoms whatsoever, to having seizures, lethargy, and respirations of 9 with no warning whatsoever. She needed a medflight (because we were out of town on the way to the zoo), immediate CT scan and immediate surgery. I am terrified of universal healthcare and the wait times it would bring.

Tell me what you are reading this summer [2008-07-31]
I love to read. Anything and everything. But!I lost my reading muse awhile back and can't seem to find it.And!When I had it I almost read 24/7. Nora Roberts/JD. Robb, Bea Small, Linda Howard, Karen Marie Moning, Janet Chapman, Kristin Hannah *old books*, and many, many more. So, what you're reading, what you've read and what you want to read.

I keep it in the office part time and on the patio part time [2008-07-29]
I've got the self-cleaning electric litter box (and boy is it worth the $100), and have a huge throw rug under it with a smaller rug by the litter pan that has a bumpy mat on top of it to catch the excess. I keep it in the office from April to October but on the patio from October to March as it is too hot in FL to leave the patio door open for them during the summer months. I also put out a spare box when we go out of town for the weekend. Try a box that has deeper sides maybe, or not as much litter in it?

Why so many criminals? [2008-07-25]
I Probably no different than Cops, Lockup, and all those other crime shows. It is just amazing to me how many criminals are in this country. One guys wife was being robbed at a store and she was giving him the money but he wanted to still be violent with her and her husband said why? Why didn Why did he have to be so violent? I am just amazed at how many criminals there are in this country. I grew up in a small town in New England and my parents taught me to respect other people and other peoples stuff. Once when I was 7 years old I took some girls Barbie Doll and boy did I get it. I still remember the spanking, and I was more embarrassed from the shame my mom and dad said they felt towards me. Taught me a good lesson and I can still remember 40 years later how I felt. I just cannot understand why there are so many criminals. Why do they think they deserve something without working for it. Why do they think they can just take what other people have. And I I don't get it and it makes me sad that I live in a society that is filled with these pieces of garbage.
