Saw someone one year in white sweats... [2008-09-24]
top and bottom, with crumpled up items all over them.....white trash. It won the contest at the hospital I worked at.

The news does tend to be bad, true. Put your head back in the sand then. [2008-09-04]
However, see if you can stomach this....2 yr old toddler disappears for a month as her mother appears to party like a 22 year old with no children by the camera's eye. When grandma finally realizes something is amiss upon discovering her daughters abandoned car with the smell of decomposing human tissue in the trunk, the 911 calls begin. Casey Anthony is a deeply disturbed young woman who by all appearances seems to have done away with her beautiful little girl by means of a shovel and gasoline. The truly unfortunate person here is the child, Caylee, whose mother is a monster.

That is a good question - white fish? [2008-07-15]

Okay, don't want to be a stick in the sand [2008-07-02]
We lived near the beach for many years and saw this one time too many. So, instead of being afraid of the ocean be more afraid of the sand. Please don't let your sons dig holes in the sand, at least not deep ones. We have seen children and teenagers have serious accidents or worse with this. The sand collapses into the holes and consequences can be fatal, so just heads up on that. It was also just on the news so I hope a lot of parents watched it. What seems like fun can turn quickly into a serious situation. It was just a known fact in our home..... no deep holes at the beach. Sorry to be a downer....just want to make sure the boys AND parents enjoy themselves. Do have a good time though!!!

What do you mean that the sand can collapse? [2008-07-02]
I I don They definitely won Please explain what you mean, so I can make sure to avoid this.

Moon Sand [2008-05-06]
It looked like so much fun and so easy on TV that I bought some for my daughter's birthday last year. It's the messiest thing ever and it doesn't work the way it does on TV. She's only used it once or twice and outside at that, and I try to make her forget she has it. I should just throw it away.

I ate 3 great big peppers and that is the truth. No one else here, hubs told me he does not like. I usually do not cook but decided I wanted some and got all my ingredients together and they were really, really good. Double burp....

I believe the white and red jerseys are their away jerseys. [2008-02-05]
I think I heard they were considered the away team for the Superbowl but they were both away weren't they? LOL. I went to the stores early Sunday morning to get jerseys for my two boys and all they had were the white and red jerseys with #10 Manning. We made a GOOD BUY. ALso, watched the parade of Champs on T.V. this morning out of NYC. It was great. Wish I could have been there.

No , they are white and after knowing them [2008-01-07]
all these years, it was very suprising. Like I said, we all grive in different ways, but I never would have believed that some of the adults would need to be medicated. It is just tragic and painful to see.

One morning last spring he came in while I was working after a night roaming and had a chunk of hair and some flesh taken out of the eyebrow area just above one eye. I am thinking either a hawk or an owl thought he could carry Zeek away (He weighs about 18-20 pounds) and he was too heavy.

chicken soup [2008-11-18]
Good olJewish penicillin - chicken soup. Use leftover chicken or steamed chicken thighs or breasts if no leftovers are available. Use Swansons natural chicken broth (nosodium) but can use bullion, but it contains a lot of sodium. Use about a quart or moreof natural chicken broth. I like to usebaby carrots whole, but can certainly usesliced carrots. Season with lots ofminced garlic and a little dill weed (maybea teaspoon).I slice in a couple of things ofcelery or sliced celeryhearts with leaves. I sometimes add noodles, or rice, sometimes I use a package of frozen mixed vegetables which are really terrific, depending on what I have available and what type of soupmy family wants.Add some white pepper, not black pepper. Simmer until carrots and celeryare soft. If using pasta or rice, add that last, otherwise it soaks up too much broth and gets soggy. My family would eat this even if they were sick and nothing else appealed to them, that is why I call it Jewish penicillin. This is a Jewish mama Enjoy - it is so simple and so delicious not to mention nutritious and healthy. Note: Never let your chicken leftovers go to waste - make a pot of chicken soup!

I try not to even think about it until after Thanksgiving [2008-11-18]
It annoys me just a little that everyone forgets about Thanksgiving. It it a true American tradition/holiday that has pretty much just a prelude anymore to the commercial, overrated Christmas. The people across the street have their glitzy white shimmering tree up. I just don't get it...

Bah humbug on Santa? No way! [2008-11-14]
When kids get on the school bus or talk in the cafeteria, what would happen? Perhaps group mentality which we learn in Psych 4, is what you are thinking, but what about going along to get along? For Petep double ee on their parade. Kids know - they believe in a Sants, i.e., St. Nick, i.e., blue and white stuff for 8 days for the Jewish kids. So what -- for goodness sake, let the kid ge a kid! Play - toys - Chris Kringle - whatever! Donabove it all. Get real! DonSanta. He is not Satan - he is S A N T A. Got your letters crossed.

I know I don't drink enough water...sm [2008-11-14]
I also have interstitial cystitis (chronic bladder inflammation) so I should definitely be drinking more water than I do. When I drink any carbonated drink, my bladder hurts the next day. I had a cystoscopy in September to diagnose this, and my bladder was all red and inflamed with little red pinpoint bleeding in it. When I do pee tests I have chronic white blood cells from the inflammation. So yes I would say I need to drink lots of water.

Gay Marriage Legalized in Connecticut [2008-11-13]
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Same-sex couples began marrying in Connecticut on Wednesday after a judge cleared the way, a partial rebound for gay-rights activists still enraged over the vote last week that cost them the right to wed in California.Protests spread across the country over the loss in California, but in New Haven, bubbles and white balloons bounced in the chilly autumn air as well-wishers cheered the marriage of Peg Oliveira and Jennifer Vickery. They wed outside City Hall, next to a statue commemorating the Amistad slave ship's struggle for freedom, less than two hours after a judge made gay marriage a reality in Connecticut.

My kitchen smells wonderful right now - :-) I was thinking of using the crockpot but instead have a large kettle I'm simmering it in. After I posted the message I read the package and - ding! Low and behold it said simmer 2-1/2 to 3 hours, but like your message think its going to take 4, 5 or even 6 hours. Thanks for the info about how to tell if its done. That's something I didn't know. So tonight we may be snacking and tomorrow night it will be corned beef with steamed cabbage, carrots, and baby white potatos.

Several whys... sm [2008-11-03]
Why when I wear a white T shirt I end up wearing my lunch too? Why when you are a few dollars head do you have an unexpected expense that puts you back in the red? Why do fingernails grow so fast when you keep them short and break so often if you let them grow out all? Why can't you buy a laundry detergents with matching scented drier sheets? Mountain rain mixed with lavender is AWFUL. They need to match. Why don't they make dishwashers to where you don't have to rinse stuff first? Aren't they supposed to wash the dishes in the first place? Why when you're exhausted there is no work in your pool, and when you are well rested and ready to go it is empty?

Anyone know of a place I can send...sm [2008-11-03]
My father took our wedding pictures as he is good behind a camera and we wanted to save some money. But now (a year later..lol) I want to have some of them cropped and black and white and softened, etc. Anyone know of a reasonably priced place I can send a CD of pictures to and have them edit them and print them out for me so I can finally create my wedding album? Thanks in advance.

Baking gifts [2008-11-02]
Do any of you give baked goods during the holidays? What are some of your favorites? I get tired of making the same ole bread, cookies, and chocolate covered pretzels every year. I will say that last year I put peanut butter between 2 Ritz crackers and then covered them in baking chocolate (white and semi-sweet) and they turned out really well. I put sprinkles on the white ones (they showed up better than on the semi-sweet ones).

She IS cute, but mine is even cuter! sm [2008-10-31]
You have to know, I am NOT a dog person, although dogs think I am. We never had them growing up. I have not been around them and when I have, I mostly can't stand them. They are either filthy and stink, have terrible behavior or terrible owner behavior towards them. It is always something. I would have told you I hate dogs, especially little poodles. THEN, I downsized because the family grew up and moved out (well for now). I had not been here 3 months when I looked at my fenced yard and my loneliness, and started thinking about a dog. I thought I wanted a big dog because I have poor balance and I trip and fall all the time. A friend who used to breed poodles told me I wanted a poodle or a bichon. She said that poodles don't shed and that I probably needed a small dog. They often live longer with fewer problems and make better companions for quiet people who don't (in my case can't) take them out walking. Then, she got a poodle puppy for herself. OMG I was IN LOVE. I said, find me a poodle! She said it could take a while, but she'd find me a red poodle. She called the next morning, my pup was on her way here. She was sold to me as red, but she is apricot with white trim. Yup, a 2-tone poodle. She was 8 weeks old, tiny and adorable. I was terrified of her, but I was determined I'd learn to love her and I'd take very gentle loving care of her, no matter how scared and stupid I felt. I'd take her out and play with her and hope I could manage to house break her when I had not a clue. We had many issues over finding a food she could tolerate without puking or scours, but we got there. You know, she was house broken in under 3 weeks. I worked at teaching her to fetch a little ball and bring it back and she does it beautifully now (she is almost 2). She knows that I require she beg for a treat properly, so that I know what she is asking for and she knows she will get it. She knows how to tell me she needs to go out. When I got her, I said, that dog will N-E-V-E-R sleep in my bed. That lasted until she could jump up on my bed with me and I could not keep her off. She can sleep without me some, but I can't sleep without her at all. She has never chewed a shoe, never peed in something she should not, never chewed furniture or anything like that. My daughter says she is spoiled. She has a basket of toys and she really does play with them. When she was in that chewy stage, I gave her tiny rawhide bones, which is why I have all my shoes intact. When I go out shopping, which is not often, I buy her a toy or a treat. She is so smart. I bring in the bags and she will go through each one to find what I got her, and never ever takes something that isn't hers. Last year when my DD came home from college for a weekend and I had not had the dog too long, she kept telling me that my dog would love her better. Nuh uh! The dog loved on her only if I was not there to do it and then ignored my DD when I was! We have the sort of relationship that every pet and every owner deserves to have. She is like an extra arm or leg, an extra heart with extra love. She is so much a part of me, and I know I am a big part of her too. I love this!!!! I still don't like other people's dogs for the most part, but I love this one to bits.

I think you could it that way sm [2008-10-29]
At my house, we call those kinds of blankets white trash sewing. I can quilt, but I don't have time. When my kids were little, I would make my ultimate white trash quilt. I'd get some prequilted fabric, something *fashion* fabric the same length, buttons and binding. I'd match up the fabric to the raw face of the prequilt with safety pins. I'd use the sewing machine to sew on buttons randomly onto the fashion fabric side. Then I'd bind it with bias tape or nylon binding, either will work. Voila! Instant white trash quilt! I'd make them to match nightgowns as Christmas gifts, or to match their room if I made new curtains. I even made them for baby gifts. It works. You idea will work just fine. Clothing sewn on it could be a bit heavy, but scraps of flannel sewn onto a sheet would be perfect, if you ask me.

So MANY good ones ! [2008-10-27]
I love the classics: Silent Night, White Christmas, just too many to choose from.

I was not out buying designer clothes or stuff for myself - sm [2008-10-25]
in my case it was we, mainly him, spent way more than we make. Everytime one of his cards got a large balance (he never looked at the statements and I pay the bills) I would tranfer it over to one of my cards, which again he never looked at, and I had a P.O. Box for--so in my case it was very, very easy to do, and with paperless statements today even easier. We had a lot of things happen in our life over the past 4 years which made the money/credit card issue much worse, easily added $40K onto it (at $89K now)--family death, serious child illness--still dealing with that some--, job loss on my part, private school tuition ($12K a year---no longer go there for the last 2 years), inability to pay bills and heavily borrowed on cards----d-u-m-b I know. So don't be so quick to judge, it is not always so black and white. Yes I did get a few things I should not have, but I know during some of this time I was depressed though not horribly so but enough so as to buy a few things I never should have, but for 95% of it it was my DH never denying himself anything (though he would have if he'd known, and now he is --granted not too happy about it---one tiny concession he has made is only 9 beers a day, down from 12, so maybe he can get 3 days out of a case of beer instead of 2.) So my days of robbing Peter to pay Paul are over. We plan to have an open book when it comes to finances once his are paid off, and mine are enrolled with a debt management plan--- then only use his cards for gas, and work stuff basically--I won't have any as they will all get destroyed and cancelled in the DMP, and will use my debit card for everything --which I do now anyway, so it won't be a huge change for me. I don't think she is lamenting, just realizing what a horrid mess she has to deal with, it is hard, and I have to deal with my DHs comments for years to come, he did a few zingers last night. I will be okay though and have to pay the piper, it is worth it not having to go through a nasty divorce and custody fight as I know it would not have been pretty.

Christmas gifts will be practical sm [2008-10-22]
Fortunately, was able to start today but bought warm, fuzzy clothing, will put a little something to play with in with that to lessen the blow of clothes! I have grandkids and they don't want clothes. Kohls had some great lounge pants at 50% off, Guitar Hero, Mario Bros., etc. Used another 15% coupon off. The grownups are getting warm PJ's,etc., working DIL will get something to wear to work. I was poor as a kid, and I can remember getting a 16-color paint set and thought I'd hit the lottery. I went to Michaels Craft Store and bought some craft kits instead of toys today with coupons. I don't think I'll be too popular this year but I'm being practical. I know it isn't what the holiday is about and think many are going to be suffering. I can remember my mom rooting plants early on, buying white cotton cloth, and every grown up got a beautiful plant and a home-sewn apron. I know what it's like to have lean Christmases and if you can start now, you can come up with something basic if possible. I hope the house of cards does not blow down any further for us. I feel for those struggling to make ends meet, everything is affected. I will probably spend much less. Church bazaars are good for some things as well, every little bit helps. Gift for transcriptionist? HoMedica's heated rolling massager on sale, helps with the back problem and husband uses it also, best gift I ever received (aside from home made cookies and brownies). I hope some positive change is in the air for everyone so no one goes without this holiday season, especially the children.

Field trip to see lesbian wedding [2008-10-16]
First-graders in San Francisco took a field trip to City Hall to celebrate the marriage of their lesbian teacher on Friday, but opponents of same-sex marriage in the state say the field trip was an attempt to “indoctrinate” the students, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The field trip was suggested by a parent at the Creative Arts Charter School, and the school said the trip, where students tossed rose petals on their teacher and her wife as they left City Hall, was academically relevant. It really is what we call a teachable moment, said Liz Jaroslow, the school’s interim director, according to the newspaper. She said same-sex marriage had historic significance. I think I California will vote on Nov. 4 on Proposition 8 which seeks to ban same-sex marriage in the state, and supporters of the measure say the field trip shows that allowing same-sex marriage will mean it’s taught to school children, the newspaper said. It said Chip White, press secretary for the Yes on 8 campaign, told the Chronicle. This is overt indoctrination of children who are too young to have an understanding of its purpose.

I tried Crest White Strips but they didnDid you get your hair cut? and Did you get new glasses? LOL.

My 'to-do' list: -sm [2008-10-10]
1. The dishes: (No more clean ones left. Tired of pulling dirty ones out of the pile and rinsing them off.) But of course, am I doing them? NO! ID 2. Vacuuming: When a dark red rug is starting to look white instead, that's enough cat-hair to build yourself a whole 'nother cat! 3. Car-Maintenance: Poor thing is overdue for oil-change, tires, you-name-it. But I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and get it taken care of, if I'm going to be able to rely on it to get me 'over the river & thru the woods' to family Thanksgiving this year, 400 miles away! 4. Yard Work: My landlady wants me to keep the plants in the back yard watered. Instead, I keep hoping it will rain. 5. Laundry: I currently have a good excuse - washing machine is broken and I'm still waiting for the part that was ordered. But MEANWHILE, I'm having to dig back in the closet to my worst, oldest clothes in order to find something to wear each day. And I'm down to the underwear your mom tells you never to wear 'because you never know when you might be in an accident and have to go to the hospital, and then wouldn't you be embarrassed.' Well, actually I woudn't, 'cause I would be in the hospital, and I wouldn't care! 6. Replace missing skate wheel: I broke an axle on my inline skates 2 weeks ago, and had to 'limp' along for miles on 3 wheels instead of 4. That sucked. 7. Letters/Emails: I owe ) Which I guess I'd better do now, in order to fix that car, buy stamps for my unwritten letters, buy a new axle for my skate, buy dish-soap, buy new underwear, and get the vacuum-cleaner fixed after it dies from vacuuming up all that cat-hair!

Pitbulls...sm [2008-10-03]
Further down this page, I saw a post that asked about people I saw various posts with people Then I saw one that said anything but a pitbull. I know before I got a pitbull and before my friend got one I too believed they were dangerous fighting dogs. I was wrong. Not all pits are used for fighting. And it isn The way they are raised has a big part in it. Those pits who fight are trained to fight. Yes some pits are aggressive. But not the majority. You would be surprised to see how loving they can be. Mine stays inside and he thinks he is a 70 pound lap dog.He is such a big baby. That is not to say he isn If a stranger comes up he will show aggression and get very ugly. BUT that is because he is scared and doesn He is protecting his family. He is just protective initially. A lot of people don Did you know Helen Kellar had a pitbull as her companion and to help her as she was blind. Yes, look on the internet and you will even see a picture. What about Petey the pit on the TV show The Little Rascals? He spent countless hours with children everyday and never hurt anyone. Do you think they would have let a dangerous dog do that? Many celebrities such as the late crocodile hunter, Usher, Alicia Silverstone, Sinbad, Linda Blair, Vin Diesal, Bernadette Peters, and Rachal Ray have pitbulls. She saved 30 people, 29 dogs, 13 horses, and a cat during a flood in South California. And Bogart another pit saved a 4-year-old child from drowning in a swimming pool in Florida. Dixie was inducted into the Georgia Animal Hall of Fame after she saved some children from a cottonmouth snake. So you see not all pits are vicious and dangerous. Many are heroes. Many are so full of love it will touch your heart. So don There are bad people and there are bad dogs. Not all people are bad and not all dogs are bad. Show some love for these dogs. You would be surprised how much love they will show you back. I just felt the need to let people know what I came to know about one of the most misunderstood breeds out there. just as you did. I Call her up, make her feel lousy for raising such a brute of a daughter. Praise your child for being so wonderful. Unfortunately, all we can tell our little ones is that the world is full of mean, angry others and we are so blessed to not have to behave that way. Count your blessings for your sweet son, just love him and hug him all that much more.

I miss mine too, a big white Lab named Rascal. He loved everyone and everything.
