67 Firebird is my dream car sm [2008-11-18]
Very similar to the Camaro. My dad had a 67 Firebird when I was younger and sold it when I was about 13 so my brother and I wouldn't be able to fight over it when we could drive. It got wrecked about 2 years later

the field trip? [2008-10-16]
I dont know. I wrote that inresponse to a thread below that talked about it. I do know that in this day and age any time a Christian tries to speak out about their beliefs, we are condemned. If a Christian wants their rights upheld, we are told that we shouldnt try to shove our religion down others throats. We cannot pray in school if we want. They take God out of the pledge of allegience because it is offensive to others. Well taking him out is offensive to ME. Our country was founded on a basic belief in God. We were God fearing people and there was NOT tolerance for things that went against him. But we have had political correctness shoved down our throats for so long that what used to be wrong is now right. We have become desensitized to sin. But God did say that this would happen and that in the end days his followers would be treated this way in his name. So I guess that is fine with me. I will always stand up for my Saviour, Jesus Christ, and I will always try to tell people about what he did for them, no matter how bad of a reaction or treatment I get.

Would this have made you mad - husband planning trip [2007-11-14]
My husband has a habit of making plans and then telling me where I am expected to be without discussing it with me first. This drives me crazy and I have asked him many times to stop. He also makes lots of plans for himself for weekend and sometimes 3 or 4 day trips and just e-mails me a note to put it on my calendar, without asking if I mind. He does this all the time. Yesterday he came home from work and announced that Joe and I are planning a family trip for this summer, so start saving your money. I said, oh is Joe your wife now?? Do you think you could ask me if I want to go there before you tell me to save my money? So he got really angry and started yelling at me that I never understand anything. I told him I like to be treated as an equal in the marriage and that I would not plan a trip for him without discussing it with him. It is a HUGE trip, to California, and we live in NC. I would have been happy if he came home and suggested it to see what I thought..but I was angry that he planned it out that way. He wants us to go with a family that I have never met. My kids are elementary age and their kids are in high school. The two men would be in conferences all day so this other lady and her kids and me and my kids are expected to hang out together. He is very furious with me for not being receptive to this whole plan. Should I have not been mad?

I have had the same dream [2007-11-06]
about teeth falling out. It is said that underlyling stress/anxiety can cause this, and also fears about personal appearance (think I remember something about money too). It's interesting to read about possible meanings of dreams. Of course, they say too that sometimes it just means it

Recurring bathroom dream & ex dream [2007-11-06]
I have a recurring dream about having to go in a public bathroom and not only can everybody see me, but I am barefoot, wearing bell-bottoms and the floor is always wet. Yuck! I also have recurring dreams about being back with my abusive ex and trying to get me and the kids away from him. We have been divorced 22 years, but I have these dreams frequently!

How much money would you give towards this field trip....sm [2007-10-22]
16-year-old comes in from school today and says the drama teacher has invited the 3rd and 4th year drama classes to go to New York in March for a week to see shows and tour the city. Supposedly the cost would be around $700, including airfare from Atlanta, lodging, meals, tickets to shows, etc. I asked what fundraisers were going to be held and she had no idea if any would be. Personally I don My daughter asked how much I She doesn She is a good student. I told her first off that she would also need to get a job because we Wex amount of money into the savings account each month as we want to move to a different area in a couple of years. So.... how much do you think we should require her to raise herself and how much should we pay? I was thinking that maybe to contribute $200 would be plenty generous and let her get a part-time job after school/weekends to raise the rest + spending money. Do you think I

Never dream of being w/o the kids just - sm [2007-10-17]
the DH.......he is out of town this week, very nice and quiet here, no drama with the kids at night (usually there is something a few times a week, or him picking a fight with me). Though I would not say no to an evening or weekend all by myself, I probably would not know what to do (unless I had work, which I usually do). As for being bored and lonely, no I doubt it. I lived by myself for about 6 months while I was at school, loved every minute of it. I have plenty of interests so I'd find lots to do!

YEAH baby!! Me too. sm [2008-11-18]
About 10 years ago I bought a Honda HX with prototype gas-efficient trannie, light wheels, no frills. That puppy would still be with me if not for the prototype trannie pretty much fizzled on most of the HXs but I milked mine for as long as possible. Ex had a Prelude, same year (99). He loved the car and took great care of it. Gas was killing him though (uses it to drive and travels a bit). He wanted to keep it in the family so he sold it to me. I drive about 5000 miles a year, if that. Amost 300,000 miles on that one and what a dream it is!!! He bought a new Civic. Another SWEET car. My son has a 1990 Accord, bought it used with less than 100,000 miles about 3 years ago. We've put some money into it, mostly cosmetic and just catching stuff up, but it runs like new. My Civic was actually built in US, so I didn't feel too guilty, but how many years have US automakers had to see the writing on the wall? I'm sorry, but I like keeping a car forever. No car payments are great. Honda fits that mold.

Almost never [2008-11-18]
Idown the hill (mountain-speak for a trip to Costco-land, around 60 miles away), I stop at In-N-Out (famous LA burger chain). Cost: $10, including 2 small plain hamburgers with nothing but bread & meat & cheese for...guess who? Yes. My dogs. I know, I know. The starving kids in China. You can see my kids in the Doggy post: http://forum.mtstars.com/misc/v/5/42327.html Can you blame me?

Is your car foreign or American? [2008-11-17]
I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu Maxx. My last car is a 93 Buick Century wagon. I sold it to my nephew and he's still driving it. My car before that was a 2004 Chevy Malibu Maxx. Both Maxxes have 3.5 motors. I'm squeezing out an average of 24 mpg. I do mostly city driving. On a road trip last month the average was 38.6 mpg. The Buick wagon has a 3.3. The car is bigger so the mileage was lower but around 18 mpg. I have not owned a foreign car since 1996.

My DH drives a Chevy Malibu Maxx... [2008-11-17]
I have a 2005 Buick LeSabre and we also have an older Ford Explorer that DH kept to use for hauling stuff..... I've never had anything but an American made car........... LOL, I'm not exactly a car salesperson's dream customer........ I keep my cars forever...... 1972 Plymouth Duster 1984 Buick Skyhawk 1996 Buick Century 2005 Buick Skyhawk.......... only 4 cars in over 30 years......

Oh, yeah, it's very nice and improved over the first models, of course. [2008-11-17]
It's roomier on the inside than you might expect. We bought the basic version, and it still has plenty of features. When gas was over $4.00 a gallon, my DH, who drives 50 miles round-trip to work each day, was saving $200 a month. Gas is lower now, but we still are saving money. Plus you never have to replace brakes on a Prius, and here in PA, I don't need to pay for emissions inspection since it burns so clean. We get our emissions sticker for free. There are a couple of other little perks like that with a Prius. And, of course, I just think it's fun. :)

My first car was a 1967 red Camaro [2008-11-17]
now a classic, got up to 86,000 miles only replacing the water pump, then my husband wrecked it. I am still mad at him for that one. I now have a 1995 3/4 ton chevy truck, paid for, have 166,000 miles on it, been a very good vehicle - thank you all GM workers. It tows and pull horses like a dream, don't even know anything is back there. Hate cars now.

I am so fustrated I am in tears...sm [2008-11-15]
Ok here goes...My husband has hunting beagles. He has about 5 of them. I love dogs and I love beagles. Well he drives an 18-wheeler and is gone a majority of the time. I take care of the dogs daily, i.e. feed them, clean their kennels, and put fresh water. It is a chore, but I love the dogs so I do it. It is for my husband anyway, and we are supposed to help each other. When he is home it is his chore. Well he has a buddy down the road who lives about 10 minutes away. They take their beagles out together and let them run rabbits. Well his buddy is bad about leaving his beagles over here and not coming to get them in a timely manner, and I have to take care of 5 more dogs. Food isn Well you have to make him come get them. A couple of weeks ago his buddy went on a hunting trip in Tennessee and needed someone to care for his beagles. Well I didn I was fustrated to learn though he brought them and left them in the kennels and left no food for them. I had to feed these dogs of his out of our food and there was 5 of them. I mentioned to my husband that I thought that was rude. I was nice enough to care for his beagles while he went away. He should have brought food for them. I felt taken advantage of. Well he came over last weekend and I thought good he has come for his dogs. Well he leaves without them. I said oh here we go again. I had forgotten to mention anything to my husband because I got busy working among other things. Well today when I went to feed the beagles I got really fustrated because he STILL has not come and got his dogs. So got downrightticked and called my husband. I said you call your buddy and tell him I am not in the kennel business. He can come get his dogs. I said first of all he is back in town and has been a week. Why hasn I said you should have made him before now. I said I was not asked do you mind taking care of these dogs for weeks. I said you should not allow your friend to take advantage of my niceness. He said well I just figure that if you are taking care of our beagles then why can What difference does it make? You are already taking care of these so what is so hard about putting a little more food out. I said I will tell you. It is twice the dogs to feed. I said he did not bring any food. It is twice thesh** to clean out the kennels, which is done, by the way, by spraying it off the concrete floors with a hose with a spray nozel. I feel like I am being taken advantage of and I think my DH should stick up for me to his friend.

Has This Ever Happened To Any Of You Here? [2008-11-13]
This was unreal...I had made a trip to the store for cat food (before I became cat food LOL!) and while slowing down behind a car that was turning, I got hit in the back. No real damage, just a scruff on the bumper of my Subaru Forester, and a bit of a blow to my ego, but the dang kid who hit me was texting her boyfriend while driving and obviously not paying attention to the road. She was only 19 years old! Holy cow! I got out, she got out...still texting. She said, Wait a minute, and continued texting. I couldn't believe it. I have that hands-free voice-activated cellphone setup in my Forester that DH set up for me, so I got back in and called the police department. If she hadn't been so rude, I might have let it go, but when she pulled that, I decided to teach her a lesson. She was horrified to learn that I called the cops while she was texting. She actually yelled at me, saying, My Dad and on and on. I just stood there and looked at her. The cop got there, threw the book at her: failure to yield, following too closely, texting while driving (it's a law here now -- you can't do that) and she has a nasty fine and her insurance is definitely going to go up. She was horrified. Maybe she'll think twice before texting while driving again...before she causes real damage and people get hurt. So thatHang up and drive! Has this ever happened to any of you?

My favs [2008-11-12]
My favorite food is pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving and Buche DE Noel on Christmas -- had to be desserts, right? I absolutely love Black Friday. I generally don Last year, a lady (about 50s) was standing inside the cart to reach the electronic items that were on special. She was handing them to her hubs (?) and got yelled at by one of the clerks for standing in the cart. It was hilarious. They made her give back the thing she was buying and go to the back of the line. I don After the early-morning Walmart drop, my best friend and I head off to Lancaster, PA for a weekend shopping trip. Just girls, shopping, food and a hot tub. Favorite holiday memories -- 1. My first boyfriend coming over to spend Christmas with my family. I was so embarrassed by everything then. 2. My (now) husband coming over to spend Christmas with my family. I was so NOT embarrassed by anything. For me, it It It always seems so magical to me. I hope my kids remember it that way some day.

my point... [2008-11-09]
And MY POINT IS that it doesn't matter what the breed of the dog is! Could've happened regardless of the breed of the dog. And just about ANY dog would growl, bark, nip, bite if it was abused.... wouldn't you if you were the dog being abused??? And who leaves an elderly frail person with 3 large dogs??? That's like leaving a toddler with 3 large dogs REGARLESS OF THE BREED! We have always had large dogs, but when my grandfather got elderly we had to watch the dogs around him cuz they would get caught up playing and trip him & he would fall to the ground and hurt himself, so leaving an elderly person by themselves is not a good idea with 3 large dogs, and that's my point also!

I remember sometime last year when we were getting Rolling Stone magazine we got an issue with them all over the cover and a huge article inside, certainly coinciding with the release of It Won't Be Soon Before Long. I didn't know who they were then and let the magazine be thrown out. I could kick myself! haha. A Meet and Greet?? Oh what a dream come true that would be!

She IS cute, but mine is even cuter! sm [2008-10-31]
You have to know, I am NOT a dog person, although dogs think I am. We never had them growing up. I have not been around them and when I have, I mostly can't stand them. They are either filthy and stink, have terrible behavior or terrible owner behavior towards them. It is always something. I would have told you I hate dogs, especially little poodles. THEN, I downsized because the family grew up and moved out (well for now). I had not been here 3 months when I looked at my fenced yard and my loneliness, and started thinking about a dog. I thought I wanted a big dog because I have poor balance and I trip and fall all the time. A friend who used to breed poodles told me I wanted a poodle or a bichon. She said that poodles don't shed and that I probably needed a small dog. They often live longer with fewer problems and make better companions for quiet people who don't (in my case can't) take them out walking. Then, she got a poodle puppy for herself. OMG I was IN LOVE. I said, find me a poodle! She said it could take a while, but she'd find me a red poodle. She called the next morning, my pup was on her way here. She was sold to me as red, but she is apricot with white trim. Yup, a 2-tone poodle. She was 8 weeks old, tiny and adorable. I was terrified of her, but I was determined I'd learn to love her and I'd take very gentle loving care of her, no matter how scared and stupid I felt. I'd take her out and play with her and hope I could manage to house break her when I had not a clue. We had many issues over finding a food she could tolerate without puking or scours, but we got there. You know, she was house broken in under 3 weeks. I worked at teaching her to fetch a little ball and bring it back and she does it beautifully now (she is almost 2). She knows that I require she beg for a treat properly, so that I know what she is asking for and she knows she will get it. She knows how to tell me she needs to go out. When I got her, I said, that dog will N-E-V-E-R sleep in my bed. That lasted until she could jump up on my bed with me and I could not keep her off. She can sleep without me some, but I can't sleep without her at all. She has never chewed a shoe, never peed in something she should not, never chewed furniture or anything like that. My daughter says she is spoiled. She has a basket of toys and she really does play with them. When she was in that chewy stage, I gave her tiny rawhide bones, which is why I have all my shoes intact. When I go out shopping, which is not often, I buy her a toy or a treat. She is so smart. I bring in the bags and she will go through each one to find what I got her, and never ever takes something that isn't hers. Last year when my DD came home from college for a weekend and I had not had the dog too long, she kept telling me that my dog would love her better. Nuh uh! The dog loved on her only if I was not there to do it and then ignored my DD when I was! We have the sort of relationship that every pet and every owner deserves to have. She is like an extra arm or leg, an extra heart with extra love. She is so much a part of me, and I know I am a big part of her too. I love this!!!! I still don't like other people's dogs for the most part, but I love this one to bits.

The debt is not my main issue. My marriage is. All of the other problems are a result of the marriage being bad, and working at home in isolation. The problem is I feel I have no choice but to work at home because of my husbandnight fishing one night a week, leaving straight from work and getting home about 1 a.m., on a work night! He is very rude to me all the time and acts like he doesnI wonder what my life would be like if something ever happened to you mom. It wouldn My daughter I worry about too though not as much. I donhis and daughter is mine even though I regularly remind him that we are both parents to both children. So yes, the debt is there and it does worry me but just showing my husband my debt is not going to solve my problem. If anything it would put me more under his control and anger than I already am.

Its good you stood up for yourself [2008-10-21]
and your family though. I didn't and wish I had. I can understand you feel sad, but your mother is an adult and to be scaring the children is just wrong. Don't let her put you on a guilt trip, you asked her to stop, she didn't, she made her choice when she did that.

Not educational. This is something that should be the parents job to teach, not the school. sm [2008-10-16]
Besides, why should school children have a field trip to ANY wedding? What would people say if someone had a field trip to a church service? These are things that parents need to be able to teach their children when the time is right.

Let's look at it this way [2008-10-16]
They would never have considered taking children on a field trip to see their teacher's heterosexual marriage, so WHY would they take them to see a homosexual one? A marriage, gay or otherwise, is really not field trip material.

OMG - Old P-T was NOT stating the ceremonies were different [2008-10-16]
She was simply stating that a wedding ceremony of ANY kind, gay, straight or otherwise IS NOT FIELD TRIP MATERIAL. Put the chip on your shoulder away for a minute and focus on the real issue. The kids should be in SCHOOL.

"open-mindedness will not get them a job [2008-10-16]
But a proper education will. I think half the field trips my own kids take are a worthless waste of time, especially with how much they cost ME. I have 6 kids and each field trip cost at least $10. If they were spending more time in school learning more children might actually graduate AND know how to read and write.

My rights [2008-10-16]
Okay, so the school takes the kids on a field trip to see the gay marriage of their teacher and this is a because the school considers it a learning experience? And so, too bad to those people whose religion this goes against. But if I were a teacher or ran a school and it was decided that we would be taking our children on a field trip to say a Christian church or maybe Israel where Jesus lived and died, you know totally as a learning experience and to teach them the history of a man that many people, even those who are not Christians, believed to have lived, there would be world wide riots! Parents would be spitting mad, the school would be sued, it would be national news and I would be fired. It would be againts peopleshoving my religion down their throats and blah blah blah. Being gay is a sin. I didn The Bible speaks VERY plainly about it many times. Tolerance does NOT mean agreement. Tolerance is NOT accepting something that is wrong. Saying that it is wrong is NOT intolerance. I dont think that someone who is gay should be shunned, beaten, publically humiliated. That is tolerance.

This thread probably won't stay up very long, but [2008-10-16]
Our country is going to he!! in a handbasket in a hurry just because of scenarios you described with the gay marriage school trip. (I sure hope that no school really did do such a stupid thing.) As Christians, we have every right to be outraged if our child is exposed to such a thing as it goes against our beliefs. What would the atheist community say if we rounded up all the children, atheists or not, and took them to church on a Sunday morning? You can bet the outcry would be such as never heard before. What has caused all of this? English philosopher Edmund Burke said The only thing necessary forthe triumph of evilis for good men to do nothing. How right he was! 2 Cronicles 7:14 says 'If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.' I hope someone gets to praying......and SOON!

Oh now I see, you're one of those [2008-10-16]
that nothing us mortals do here on earth will override whether or not your child gets into heaven. When you teach your child right and wrong, you must teach tolerance as well. Just because you have interpreted gay as being a sin doesn The Bible is left up to interpretation. I totally believe in God and I believe also in karma. I also believe you should not have signed the permission slip because I guess this is all about the field trip. I'm done now! P/S: What will you say when your child tells you they are gay?

Sorry to hear this but (sm) [2008-10-11]
what the heck was he doing out at 5:30 AM with a 9-yo? Did you have a talk with him or just tell him? I think you made the right decision for now. Let him think about it.Maybe you can have a close friend of yours or him to try to talk sense into him. I didn't state in my earlier reply that I, also, am a stepmom. My husband's son lived with his grandmother for the first 3 years and he was terrified of me. Long story there, but his real mother was kicked out when the child was 6 weeks old and his grandmother drilled it into his head about his mother. My husband and I had many a fight over him, but I tried to stick it out until the day my stepson said I wasn This was at a birthday party and that was the last straw. I left my husband that day. My best friend sat down after thatand had a chat with my husband because he never intervened when his son made snide remarks about me, and he finally realized he was on a guilt trip for his ex3 years, but now his son calls me mom and he treats me better than my own son! I wish you the best of luck. It is a tough road to haul, but if your guy cares anything at all about you, he will try to figure out the problem.
