if you have ever had a Wechsler, you know that those kinds of questions don't play into it. They are mind teasers and trick questions, not something that a Wechsler uses. A Wechsler is several hours long and goes through your math, language, spacial relations and problem solving skills, and it is timed. Part of IQ is how fast you can solve complex problems. I have taken a Wechsler and while I won't quote you a number, I will say the person who gave it as part of a psychological evaluation, told me he would diagnose me as way too smart for my own good. He stated that I probably didn't suffer fools gladly because I view most of the world as fools. I only fall at the 99.6 percentile on the Bell curve. No, I don't suffer fools gladly, but I try to be nice while others catch up.

Actually, she just turned 17 two days ago. Generally, the rule of thumb was that on school nights she was home for supper and thereafter. On the weekends her curfew was 11:00 and she never violated it. This summer, as she neared 17, we let her stay out until midnight, and often she would just stay outside on our lawn swing with her friend talking until 1 or 2, which was fine - we knew where she was and what she was doing. Oh, yes - when she was babysitting on school nights she still had to be home by 10:00. That worked out fine.

I was reading the posts below and some pretty heated discussions. Everyone seems to have an opinion and I feel bad for the people who give their opinion and then are jumped on by others. The only thing I could possibly add is do what you feel is right. Emotional scars go very deep, and its true that once things are said (or written) its very hard to forgive. I remember years ago (19 years ago) I got called into a room by my MIL who proceded to tell me how much she always hated me and if I turned her against her son she would find me and kill me - this was after I told my husband (not in front of her) we don't have the money to pay our bills and we can't keep taking her out to eat with unlimited pitchers of beers. He's the one who told his mom we couldn't go out to eat cos we didn't have money. Anyway...those words she said still haunt me and the memory is like it happened yesterday. Words hurt very deeply and the emotional scars will always be there. It sounds like you are getting counseling and that is good. Don't know if your kids are also getting counseling but that might help them too. Good luck to you.

To make them look real, I stole an idea from Marilyn Monroe. I cut the lashes in half and then I use the resulting minilashes and put them starting from mideye to the edge of my eye nearest the ear. Be careful just to put a little glue. Then, you can put eye liner over it. I have very blonde (almost platinum) hair and eyebrows, so it can't be heavy handed. Also if you use the half lashes, you can put a light color like cream under your eye brow arch and on the lid, with a bit of brown in the crease. Blend it together and it will look glamorous yet natural. Only you will know, because it looks like a lot of mascara on the edge, or you are blessed with long eyelashes! Have fun with it. I do.

And we are starving. DH took over going to the grocery store from me (He thought I spent too much when I would spend about 150 a week.) It has been months since we do not have a bare cupboard. I am not complaining. I understand we are broke and he needs to pay the creditors. But the one person who has pretty much stopped eating is me. I am home all day and there is never bread to make a sandwich and I often pass up supper because I am tired of eating junky stuff like mac and cheese or spaghetti with meat sauce. He and our 11 year old son, on the other hand eat thirds of whatever meal it is. I get kind of annoyed. Our littlest boy and middle girl eat very little. All 3 take their lunch to school. I say to DH either stop eating so much (for him and the older boy) or buy more. He flips his eyes at me. We even stopped getting microwave popcorn which used to fill them up. So, now I am hoping to work extra to go to the grocery store myself and put an extra 100 a week in myself, but I keep running out of work. You see, this all started when we started running out of work in transcription about a year ago this fall, and my DH took over the bills. Apparently food was the first to be cut. And, BTW I don't ever go anywhere because there is no gas in my car, and it has 2 flat tires. We live by the school and I borrow DH's car to take the kids but it is always on empty. We seem to make it every time. Oh, well. No need to complain. Just cutting back. The family is lucky I work at home, don't use gas, barely eat. But I do have to pay 10 bucks a month for nerve pills, because it is hard doing without. Like I said, when work picks up transcribing first place I am going after I get gas for the car is to the food store. Eventually I can repair my flat tires.

You just have to be careful about not getting things just because you have a coupon. When I coupon shop, it can take me 3 hours because I compare all the prices with brands to coupons, etc. You also have to really know your prices as compared to other stores. I am a sucker for a pretty face & don't have kids, so I am at my dogs' mercy. You should see their stockpile of dog treats. It's ridiculous. School lunches. $2 a day! Doesn't sound like a lot for a meal, but it sure adds up...you would think they would give you some kind of deal because you have 3 kids. I guess I'm assuming they all go to the same school. Now I'm dating myself, but when I was in elementary school I think it cost 40 or 45 cents for lunch. A nickel for milk. Amazing!

About 10 years ago I bought a Honda HX with prototype gas-efficient trannie, light wheels, no frills. That puppy would still be with me if not for the prototype trannie pretty much fizzled on most of the HXs but I milked mine for as long as possible. Ex had a Prelude, same year (99). He loved the car and took great care of it. Gas was killing him though (uses it to drive and travels a bit). He wanted to keep it in the family so he sold it to me. I drive about 5000 miles a year, if that. Amost 300,000 miles on that one and what a dream it is!!! He bought a new Civic. Another SWEET car. My son has a 1990 Accord, bought it used with less than 100,000 miles about 3 years ago. We've put some money into it, mostly cosmetic and just catching stuff up, but it runs like new. My Civic was actually built in US, so I didn't feel too guilty, but how many years have US automakers had to see the writing on the wall? I'm sorry, but I like keeping a car forever. No car payments are great. Honda fits that mold.

I am always, always and forever chronically thirsty, but I don't have the polyuria to go with it. I have dry eyes, dry nose (to a point where it is usually pretty full of scabs), dry mouth with caries at the gumline. I have gastroparesis and proctalgia fugax which often go with Sjogren's just like the rest of it. Dry skin and feeling like you are drying out from the inside out is part of it. I even get a nasty, clay-like sludgy feeling in my mouth and throat from my stomach being too dry to digest. It is misery and even better than a gallon of water a day doesn't fix the dry feeling, but it keeps my kidneys from shutting down from being dry. Lovely huh?

This show upset my ex, I could see it made him jealous and insecure, and nervous that he was not as great as everyone assumed him to be. Just like there's always someone richer, thinner, and better looking, there's always someone smarter too. Another reason would be lonliness. The smarter you are, the less you have in common with the majority of the population. The things that interest you most people can I think one purpose Mensa was created was so that they could find people to talk to on their own level. The pitfall there is most of them are so specialized in their own areas of interest they still don't have anything in common - the gifted musician does not want to discuss quantum theories with the scientist, they can understand it, they just aren't interested in it. In my ex He self medicates with substances to escape the misery of being in his body. Second, he He started abusing substances to try to be one of the cool partying folk, to fit in. All of his current friends abuse substances, but he at least has some friends now, that Third, the pressure to perform has caused him to give up. He was a computer guru before computers were cool. Once computers were mainstreamed to the general populace, and new software was coming out on a daily basis, he could no longer know it all. When he reached that crossroads, he panicked, gave up and dove into the bottle to hide from his insecurities. Ahigh IQ is often just as much a curse as a blessing. I gently suggest you study up on what IQ is and is not. Basically, it is the ability to learn. What one chooses to learn and what they choose to apply it to is up to the individual. It gives all pits a bad name. I am an immense dog lover myself. I love all dogs. There are some pits and Rotties, etc. bred from family pets and bred to be family pets. Unfortunately there are some drug dealers and gangstas who want this big bad dog to go with their gangsta facade. It is so wrong. It is unfortunate because these dogs are all given a bad name for the actions of a few. It makes people weary of them rightfully. My pit came from a mother and father who are big ole babies, inside kept family pets and the grandparents on both sides were family pets too so I do know mine was not intentionally bred to bring out bad traits such as aggressiveness. I knew where he came from and knew what kind of ancestors he had. This eased my mind. My pitbull CJ is a big ole baby. He is weary of a stranger BUT I would never allow him out of the fenced in yard which is in my backyard. He is not allowed even out in my yard in the part that is not fenced in. I am not taking a risk of him biting someone. He is pretty much okay with people even he don't know if they don't approach him. If they give him his space he will give them theirs. That is when I have friends over he doesn't know. But I don't allow him to just be free roaming around and I cannot express how irresponsible that is. The owners should have been paid a visit by the animal control or police and told you keep him in or on a leash or you won't keep him. I am firmly against letting any dog roam free even a poodle I wouldn't because also they can get ran over or anything. It is just flat out irresponsible.

Pet Insurance [2008-11-09]
I have some pet insurance. It is $17 a month for each dog. I figure, for $200 a year, if the dog lives to be 15 that would be a total of $3000 over the life of the dog. Which can be less than the cost of a single operation. So I got the insurance. Andy had a minor surgery (removal of keratocanthoma) that came to $600, including $200 to have his teeth cleaned (not covered). After the deductible I got a check from the company for $300. I was pretty happy with that.

I have steroid-dependent asthma, but nobody else does--my parents, my brother, my daughters, no one! My middle daughter has terrible eczema like me, but she has no asthma. She has some allergies and another daughter of mine had food allergies, but none of them have the respiratory issues that I do with the allergies. Here's food for thought, though. In my family, my brother has type 1 diabetes. My father has rheumatoid arthritis. This makes me think of an inherited autoimmune component to our respective issues. Another thing is that my father and I are carriers of alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. He has pretty severe lung disease even without being homozygous. The gene we carry is apparently linked to increased incidence of asthma, from some sources Iworse alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency gene, but he has no asthma. We are vigilant about keeping them out of second-hand smoke, so they all should be fine and without lung damage. I've always heard asthma was environmental, due to genetic disposition, sometimes emotional, but always crappy.
