Hard to recall, probabably 10-15 pounds -sm

Posted By: Laura E. on 2009-04-11
In Reply to: how much did u gain from swelling in pregnancy? - preggers

in my first pregnancy, was borderline pre-eclamsia, BP was jumping all about at the end, lots of water weight. Daughter ended up being induced as they did not want to take any chances. Did not have that issue the 2nd time.

As someone who has been 235.5 pounds and now to 115 pounds (sm)
There is no comparison. It feels gross to be fat. I beat myself up every night because I ate too much and "I'll do better tomorrow," which never happened except once in June of 2004 when it all changed for me.

Now that my weight is down to normal (I'm 5Ƌ" tall), people treat me differently. I feel much better. Clothes fit me pretty much right. (I have a little bit of excess skin but nothing I need removed.)

Being less than half of what I was is much, much better than being "plump."

I'm not afraid of any food, BTW. I can still out-eat most anyone at a buffet, but I choose not to do so anymore. I do eat what I want; I just had to change what I wanted. What is so wrong about eating more fiber and less meat anyway?
Another possible recall.
Thanks for posting that info. That is a terrible thing.

I just caught the tail end of this story yesterday on the local news. I'm not sure if it is a full recall or just a warning but there is a hazard with some type of Simplicity baby basinets and cribs. I guess the area is too large for standards and the childs head can get stuck and suffocate in the mattress. I haven't had the opportunity to research and find out the full details but just jotted down what I could quickly.
As I recall
what is normal is to begin visits to OB/GYN when menstruation begins.

Girls start menstruating at the average age of 12. However, girls can begin menstruating as early as 8 years of age or as late as 16 years of age.

I lost 123 pounds (sm)
I am down to 112 pounds. All my skin, including my face skin, bounced back really well. I do have a little loose skin on my thighs but not so much that I can't wear shorts. My belly looks like I've been pregnant with big kids, and with my largest being 10 pounds, I earned my loose belly skin.

It might have made a difference that I did it "au naturale" without the surgery, so I am still absorbing my nutrients properly.
No, it looks fat as I am fat. I am trying to drop 70 pounds - sm
and dread the wrinkles that will most likely pop up; but I guess in order to get back to a healthy weight my face will have to pay the price. I will live with it.
I also had a picture up with me 35 pounds
heavier. it was not pretty. That was my motivation. by the way, I will walk 2 miles a day and have been doing so for 8 years to keep the poundage off.
Just a few pounds, but don't want to starve...

Hi all,

Would like to a lose a little weight, about 35 to 40 lbs. but do not want to starve myself (I have a sweet tooth) and do it healthy of course. Currently, I am eating smaller portions, watching what I eat, no soda, drinking more water and walking in the evenings. I had my baby four years ago and still look about six months pregnant when I look sideways in the mirror and a little extra on the hips and thighs. I would love to have my abs back at least!

Any suggestions? What works for you and/or what have you tried? TIA.

Somehow I lost 10 pounds.
nm
My SIL had this and lost over 150 pounds. She...
really did not have any major problems after the surgery. However, it has been almost 2 years and in the past few months she has regained 35 pounds. If someone is eating to deal with emotional problems or just life in general, having the surgery does not make the emotional problems go away. They need to find another way to deal with them before the surgery in order for the surgery to work effectively. Just my opinion from watching my SIL. The docs need to deal more with WHY the patient is eating the way they do and work on changing eating habits before they have the surgery.
The 50 pounds after the hysterectomy? (sm)
I have gained a lot in the last 6 months and wonder if it is related to my hormonal issues. Did you lose weight after your hysterectomy?
And put on a few extra pounds?
x
I am 123 pounds down and have been for 3+ years
I went from 235.5 to 115. I did gain some weight in the middle of my weight loss, but I was baking a 9 pound 1 ounce baby during that time. I was at my prepregnancy weight within 3 days after delivery. The weight loss on WW was the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Good luck!
I heard that you should see Seven pounds
guess i'll skip it!
Thank goodness I did not try to see Seven Pounds
the other night and instead apparently chose a more adult themed movie. After my movie a woman came out from the Will Smith movie demanding to see a manager. She said loads of children in the theater totally acting out and their parents not controlling them.

Toy recall - please read.

not that i recall, curious, is this
a case in your family or on a report you did?
What peanut recall?
So guess I'm good to go.

I suppose that's what I get for turning off the news because sick of petty politics. Something really important and I miss it. HA HA HA

But I'm still here and breathing. My only peanut item I eat is natural peanut butter.
I've been on WW and lost 40 pounds
I have some more to go, but it's the only thing that has worked for me. It makes sense. It's about making good choices with your food and increasing your activity. I've gone off WW now and then and was able to hold my own, or if I gained weight, I could hop back on the points plan and get things gong again. I don't go to meetings, though. I do everything online. I have access to all the areas of the website, and I'm able to do it that way, but I think it's much slower thn going to actual meetings. I just don't have time in my schedule to go to meetings.
Drink water! Move! Watcch points, and you lose weight.
I got 5 pounds of chocolate candy

Hubby remembered one night...just 1 night...and can't remember when, that I was so hungry for a piece of chocolate, he gave me 5 pounds of chocolate for Christmas!!!  I love chocolate but not that much!!!! I think he wants me to get fat.

I ate 2 pieces so far since Christmas. Hmmmmmmmmmm, think I'll go grab a piece now. It seems to be calling me.

Don't want to be rude, but I don't recall mentioning
makeup, fingernail polish or the like. He also takes a shower daily because he likes to smell nice. Don't know what kind of soap he likes and really don't care.  I'm just very proud that I raised a man who takes pride in his appearance and wants to smell nice for his lady.
An Analogy: The Pet Food Recall
Most if not all of you have by now heard of the massive pet food recall due to wheat gluten used in canned/pouch pet food that came from China.  I wasn't affected becuase I stick to dry foods, and because of health problems I have to feed my animals a very good product by Natura called California Natural - they use very few ingredients and what they use is human grade.  I went to their web site and they have a video about the pet food recall.  Turns out the company involved in the recall, Menu Foods, does make some of their canned products - I was not happy hearing this since I have such faith in them - but since Natura does not use wheat gluten in any of their food none of the recalled stuff affected theirs and anyway theirs is made in another Menu Foods plant location from the one with the Chinese wheat gluten.  But it doesn't stop there.  For now they are sending their own quality control person the plant that does produce food for them, and they are going to look into purchasing a plant of their own to produce the canned/pouch foods here in the US.  Also, from now on they will only use ingredients that are from the US.  Looks like they are doing the right thing.
From what I recall from my banking days -
It sounds like you had overdraft protection in place, which means the bank will cover the checks (usually up to a certain amount), but you will owe them fees. They have cleared those checks. No one outside of the bank has any idea there was not enough money in the account to cover them. Be very, very glad you had that service in place! Otherwise, you would owe a lot of money to each person you wrote a check to and could have been put on a list where they will not accept checks from you. Right now I would say to contact the bank to ask about paying off those fees with them.
Royal Canin - recall
Some Royal Canin foods have been recalled, including dry dog foods.

http://www.royalcanin.us/recalled.html

My sister's dogs started having same symptoms you are describing about 1 month before the recall became known, and switching the food fixed the problem. She never looked into whether it was a recalled food, for some reason.

I would put hte puppy back on his original food and then slowly introduce a new food that does not contain any of the problem ingredients. There was a recent thread about foods that are safe.

You do know about the recall on wetting solution
that is causing blindness for contact wearers? I do not know the name of it but can probably google. By the way, I have heard using honey can alleviate allergies. I just heard that now, but worth a try if I had them.
sorry but I don't recall asking for personal opinion
no offense, but I was just asking those with experience on the subject.
It was a peanut butter recall.

Nutro Dry Cat Food Recall
On 05/21/2009, a recall was issued for various varieties of Nutro dry cat food.  This is for all 50 states and I believe 11 countries.  Please check the FDA website for recall information in case links are not allowed here.    The food has excess zinc and not enough potassium.
As I recall, MOST of my family's photos were
awkward! Maybe I should just send them all of our entire albums!

Yes, I stuck to it and lost 30 pounds in 3 months (sm)
You may have increased your salt intake this week and be retaining water? (lots of Weight Watchers dishes are high in sodium)or could you have PMS retention? Also if you started exercising a lot and are building some muscle, you could have lost fat and replaced the fat weight with muscle weight - which is great since muscle is much more compact and burns more calories. A great free website that you might like is 3fatchicks on a diet...not sure of the exact web address but it is very popular and if you Google it you should be able to find it. Don't give up!! I need to go back on it actually!! I have been off the wagon (or is it on the wagon? lol) for a while now. Good luck!!
You do know Royal Canin is on recall list, right??
nm
Scary stuff, but I don't recall seeing any nudity
nm
Yes, recalled in 2007. This is a new recall, May, 2009. sm

Nutro was recalled during the huge 2007 pet food recalls.  This is a new 2009 recall involving the premix formulation in some of their dry cat food.  I use Wellness, Nature's Variety, and Newman's Own canned cat foods.

I lost 77 pounds on WW a couple of years go. I agree with
meeting and learn from others new recipes or great low cal/low fat things at the store. On-line or at meetings you cant go wrong with WW IMO.
swore not sore. Ugg. Someday the pounds will go away and the typos too

Actually, I recall my brother and cousin being drafted for Vietnam
and they served 18 month "tours". They were actually in the army longer, but were in Vietnam for 18 months when they were drafted. I'm sure they would have rather not done that extra 6 months!

My father, his brother, and their contemporaries in World War II, however, were drafted for "the duration". They weren't coming home until the war was over. My dad said it was one heck of an incentive to fight hard. It makes me cry to think of my gentle, kind father in that situation.
I agree. I have to lose 80 pounds. Changed lifestyle, exercising now, sm
drinking more water instead of diet soda, life is good. I feel better now than ever before. Oh yea, I just quit smoking too... last cigarette was June 12th, the same diet I started my healthy way of living and lost 10 pounds so far.

Those that I know on Chantix, didn't gain the ൜ pounds", but still gained.
It seemed like most of them only gained like 10 pounds or so in the first 3 months on it. They say when quitting smoking to expect to gain 20. I don't care how much I gain. I lost over 50 pounds a couple years ago, so I know I can lose it again if I need to. Better to be 20 pounds over weight than smoking.
I know how hard it is......sm
I understand what you're saying. God didn't give us the ability to forget, just the strength to get through it. Have you talked with your husband. Does he seem happy to have this child or has he ever said he was sorry for ever wanting that now that the child is here? Maybe if you could hear him say he was sorry for ever wanting that and couldn't imagine your child not being here, maybe that would help. Seeing true remorse in a person goes a long way in helping you deal with this.
Hard to say
If I had it to do over again, I probably would not have married my husband. He and I are not very well suited to each other at all. But then I wouldn't have my wonderful son, so I can't say I entirely regret it. And after 27 years of marriage, my husband and I finally have a great relationship, with the help of an excellent marriage counselor. What's that saying - I've been happily married for 8 years, but we were married 27 years ago.
I'm sorry - I know it must be hard for you (sm)
I don't have experience with it, but at lesat she is making the decision and you don't have to make it. There are also assisted living facilities that are not so much a nursing home, if you think that would be an option for her. Best wishes to you.
i know it is hard to believe
but I didn't see a pay phone in the dorm. You can get a room phone installed but it is expensive. I guess that is a thought though.

Even if I could contact AIM, I don't think I would. He is 18 and really I can't tell them not to let him use his free account. He's an adult (at least in terms of the law) even if he isn't acting very mature. The way it is now, I can see if he is online and talk to him. If I did something like that he would jsut make up a new screen name that I wouldn't have at all. I just don't think that is a good idea.
This is so hard
Your dog is beautiful. I know how attached you get and how much love these little guys give us.

We just had to go through much the same thing with our 9-year-old lab, Murphy. He got pancreatitis and was very sick, started to get better, but then really took a turn for the worse. He was unable to get up and walk and just cried and cried. After a couple of days, we all decided it was best to have him euthanized. It was the hardest decision I ever had to make, but none of us could stand to watch him suffer any more. He has had this look in his eyes like he was saying let me go.

Not saying that that is the right decision for you. I think you will know in your heart when it is time. Just try to keep him as comfortable and happy as possible.

My heart goes out to you and Fox.
re: having a hard day/NC MT
It depends on where your degree is from, and where you plan to go to school.  If your college credit is from a community college, it should most certainly transfer. You really have to check with a counselor from the school you wish to attend. Good luck!
I'm so sorry...I know it must be so hard (sm)
at least it has only been 8 months though...so you two have no children together, right? No having to beg for sex when you are a newlywed is not normal. I have a lot of marital issues myself thought not similar...please e-mail me if you want to talk!
7 is a hard age sm
Had a 2nd grader who was after much angst by all, diagnosed as gifted. I was able to put him in private school, quieter, excelled at everything, is now an entrepeneur and doctoral candidate. It was not easy to pay the bills, but worked harder than ever.  The school had me thinking it was my parenting skills, or lack of them, his behavior, his needing more male positive image, etc., etc. If I had istened to them he would have been put in a special class with those with learning difficulties.  All in all, I was crying every day. Took a lot of time and energy. Looking back, his teacher was at fault for mislabeling him and not appreciating his talent. I think he was smarter than she was. We shudder at even the mention of her name. Some don't deserve to be teaching. Don't let her be mislabeled. Thank goodness, I knew someone in the field who tested as I was transcribing his work.  It's a very hard road you have in front of you. Don't be discouraged, please. Good luck with it, it's very difficult. Keep examining the whole picture. God bless you.
So sorry. I know this has to be so hard
but she obviously is in a very loving home. Take a little comfort in knowing that you gave her a wonderful life.
it must be hard
person... i mean if you have only felt the need to apologize one time that must be some sort of record. correct me if i'm wrong, but you were apologizing at that particular time even though you were not at fault?
I did it on my own. It was not hard. No one else will
It did take some time to educate myself but it was not difficult. Got Money magazine and started reading. Also read other mags. I did have someone to talk to but could have done it without this person.  Also, the investment groups 800 numbers were able to answer questions I had. It was acutally fun, in an odd way, knowing I was taking care of me, without having to pay someone else to do it. And that someone else would also be paid, out of my money, for giving me advice I could find for myself.
It's so hard to know ....
It's so hard to know the truth when these stories are printed in the Enquirer and papers of that kind. I hope this is one of those stories that turn out to be just sensationalism. How sad for him if it isn't!
What's hard is that
we have been keeping all of our kids' college funds in the stockmarket. After a big hit in 2001, they were doing OK. But now that we're really having to use them, the money just isn't there.

I'm wondering if it makes more sense to keep the money in the market (waiting for recovery) and take out a loan for the college tuition.
