drinking more water instead of diet soda, life is good. I feel better now than ever before. Oh yea, I just quit smoking too... last cigarette was June 12th, the same diet I started my healthy way of living and lost 10 pounds so far.

Convict, judge. I don't do that. I don't agree with the lifestyle based on
homosexuality to be a sin.  If you read my posts completely, you would have seen in my example of running into each other in the mall, that I would be respectful to you, but that did not mean that I agreed with your lifestyle.  In the end, God with judge us all.  That's not my job.
I lost 77 pounds on WW a couple of years go. I agree with
meeting and learn from others new recipes or great low cal/low fat things at the store. On-line or at meetings you cant go wrong with WW IMO.
Older folks sometimes lose it before they really lose it sm
It sounds like she having some issues with money and thought processes. Four potatoes and three sweet potatoes? She has lost touch with reality. I don't mean this in an unkind way. I think she didn't stop the think or plan the budget around this. Perhaps she has lost the ability to properly plan on some level. This makes no sense.

In my family, food at gramma's was always abundant. The woman always thought we were foot soldiers readying for a cold march across two states. The place she got miserly was with almost everything else. She'd have everyone over for a huge supper and have 2 rolls of TP in the house, one nearly gone, and there would be 10 of us. She stopped buying laundry detergent because it was "too expensive" and started using shavings of naphtha soap. She started saving little soap slivers and making "new" bars of soap with them. She stopped buying shampoo unless it was in the markdowns at the grocery store. She started using a baggie for her vacuum cleaner bag. You get the picture here.

The interesting thing is that truly, that gramma never fully lost it. We considered this idiosyncratic and went on. She kept the rest of her faculties, but had these odd ways of "saving money." My other gramma who never did any of these things did, in fact, suffer from profound dementia the last 10 years of her life. Of course, that set of grandparents had the issue the other way. Toilet paper: Bought in bulk 6 cases at a time. Find a salad dressing you like, buy a couple of cases. You never did want to tell them you liked a certain food, paper product or soap something because if you did, along would come a few cases of it!

We all do something when we get older. Help her out so she isn't embarrassed by this!
I am exercising and eating better, just wanted to
know if anyone has used this particular brand.  I know there are hundreds of knock offs, but this is suppose to be the "original."
I am exercising my first amendment rights!!

No, I'm totally thinking getting back into exercising - sm
- Mountain bikes are easier to ride and more balanced than other bikes. Wider tires, wider handlebars, more upright position.

- It's not like shifting gears in a car. Nowadays they have smooth-shifting index shifters and just pedal, and push the button to whichever one you want.

- Unless you live where it's absolutely, perfectly level, you will encounter at least SOME kind of a slope. To an unfit person, or anyone on a bike with not much gearing, even the slighest slope (or even riding upwind on level ground) can be daunting. More gears equals easier ride.

- If a person REALLY doesn't want to think about gears at all, there are hybrid bikes out there (sort of like 1/2 mountain bike, 1/2 touring bike) which I believe are called something like "Easy Rider" or (?), that do the shifting for you. All you do is pedal and steer. Still, I can think of nothing that will turn a person off to exercising and bike riding in the beginning like a heavy, clunky, one-speed bike.

- Regarding trails, I'm not talking about cliff-hangers, or the Flume Trail in Tahoe - I'm talking about dirt roads and smooth, basically level hiking paths. A perfect example are the country's "Rails-To-Trails" paths which follow old railroad beds. Most are linear, level, and great places for beginners to ride.

Quit being so judgemental about what was 100% meant as a helpful post. You might go out an learn something about bikes, too, before you go calling people nuts for trying to help.
Gay Lifestyle

I'm calling this "off topic" because it's really not an issue, just a rant. No one need reply, I'm just bored and this has been on my mind.

I really have a problem with the term "gay lifestyle". It's just one of those things that bugs the crap out of me. What exactly is the "gay lifestyle"? I'm gay and should know but I don't. My lifestyle is no different than anyone elses. We get up in the morning and go to work and earn a living. We come home have dinner, maybe watch some TV or not. This time of year we may just hang out around the pool in the evening.

More and more other same sex couples are raising children and dealing with homework and getting the kids in bed.

There's yardwork to be done, housework too. The laundry doesn't do itself!

I've never heard anyone mention the "straight lifestyle". Is "gay lifestyle" a code word for something more sinister? I do notice that the people that use the term are generally not very open minded about homosexuality.

OK I'm done. Like I said I'm bored and just killing time.

first day of new lifestyle change....Ugh!!! sm

No diet sodas, regular sodas, refined sugars, bad carbs.....I snuck in a little orange juice this morning. I'm reading and following "Body by God" and trying to eliminate most man-made foods (which are obvious) and replacing them with God-made foods which are the obvious, too (fruits, veggies, beans, lean meats, chicken, etc.). No cheese, either.

I didn't realize (well, I sorta did) how much I rely on my Diet Dr. Pepper EVERY morning. Yes, I'm grouchy. I'm drinking water this morning (yuck) - actually, I don't mind water, but I'm dying for my PEPPER!!!!

What's gotten me to this point? My hormones, thyroid, everything is getting out of balance due to obesity. yes, I admit it! This has been a struggle of mine for years. I cannot even tell you how many times I've failed trying to change my lifestyle. I have young children, too, and we went to like McDonald's and Burger King quite a bit.....That will have to stop too :(

It's not ALL bad, though. I do get one "vacation" day a week to eat pretty much whatever I want. Doc says that even 1 to 2 days of this Body by God will yield results. 3 to 4 days of Body by God will yield great results, and all 7 days of this regime will yield the BEST results for you and your body. I'm tired of the swelling. I'm tired of trying to cover up my belly fat. Hey, I'm just being brutally honest.

Is there a diet board? I need fill-in ideas for snacks that are healthy. I've never, ever eaten healthy before..... = My emotions right now!~

Why is the lifestyle more important?
He is a me type person. I have a grown daughter just like that. He is only thinking of himself and what he wants. This is the difference in my martial situation- if my husband wanted to move somewhere else I would go with him in a minute, no question. I love my home but I love him more. The statement about the other woman would probably make me feel a little uneasy because I feel if you are saying things like that, how do I know you are not acting on them? I have a cousin spent loads of time hunting, going to all kinds of meetings of things he was involved with, had 2 almost grown sons, left his wife of 30+ years, had met another woman and gave up a paid for 4 bedroom brick home to live with this woman in a trailer… It happens.
For my lifestyle change, I had lapband
Can't think of a better Christmas and New Year gift to myself. I absolutely love it. Have lost 20 pounds so far.
the best plan is lifestyle change, not some dangerous
like the previous poster said, the weight will come back when you stop. I have kept a food diary and counted calories and now am down to 108 lbs. Creating a calorie deficit is the only safe way to lose weight.
Yes, true, the daily lifestyle does not differ, but the nightly does,nm

As someone who has been 235.5 pounds and now to 115 pounds (sm)
There is no comparison. It feels gross to be fat. I beat myself up every night because I ate too much and "I'll do better tomorrow," which never happened except once in June of 2004 when it all changed for me.

Now that my weight is down to normal (I'm 5Ƌ" tall), people treat me differently. I feel much better. Clothes fit me pretty much right. (I have a little bit of excess skin but nothing I need removed.)

Being less than half of what I was is much, much better than being "plump."

I'm not afraid of any food, BTW. I can still out-eat most anyone at a buffet, but I choose not to do so anymore. I do eat what I want; I just had to change what I wanted. What is so wrong about eating more fiber and less meat anyway?
I lost 123 pounds (sm)
I am down to 112 pounds. All my skin, including my face skin, bounced back really well. I do have a little loose skin on my thighs but not so much that I can't wear shorts. My belly looks like I've been pregnant with big kids, and with my largest being 10 pounds, I earned my loose belly skin.

It might have made a difference that I did it "au naturale" without the surgery, so I am still absorbing my nutrients properly.
No, it looks fat as I am fat. I am trying to drop 70 pounds - sm
and dread the wrinkles that will most likely pop up; but I guess in order to get back to a healthy weight my face will have to pay the price. I will live with it.
I also had a picture up with me 35 pounds
heavier. it was not pretty. That was my motivation. by the way, I will walk 2 miles a day and have been doing so for 8 years to keep the poundage off.
Just a few pounds, but don't want to starve...

Hi all,

Would like to a lose a little weight, about 35 to 40 lbs. but do not want to starve myself (I have a sweet tooth) and do it healthy of course. Currently, I am eating smaller portions, watching what I eat, no soda, drinking more water and walking in the evenings. I had my baby four years ago and still look about six months pregnant when I look sideways in the mirror and a little extra on the hips and thighs. I would love to have my abs back at least!

Any suggestions? What works for you and/or what have you tried? TIA.

Somehow I lost 10 pounds.
nm
My SIL had this and lost over 150 pounds. She...
really did not have any major problems after the surgery. However, it has been almost 2 years and in the past few months she has regained 35 pounds. If someone is eating to deal with emotional problems or just life in general, having the surgery does not make the emotional problems go away. They need to find another way to deal with them before the surgery in order for the surgery to work effectively. Just my opinion from watching my SIL. The docs need to deal more with WHY the patient is eating the way they do and work on changing eating habits before they have the surgery.
The 50 pounds after the hysterectomy? (sm)
I have gained a lot in the last 6 months and wonder if it is related to my hormonal issues. Did you lose weight after your hysterectomy?
And put on a few extra pounds?
x
I am 123 pounds down and have been for 3+ years
I went from 235.5 to 115. I did gain some weight in the middle of my weight loss, but I was baking a 9 pound 1 ounce baby during that time. I was at my prepregnancy weight within 3 days after delivery. The weight loss on WW was the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Good luck!
I heard that you should see Seven pounds
guess i'll skip it!
Thank goodness I did not try to see Seven Pounds
the other night and instead apparently chose a more adult themed movie. After my movie a woman came out from the Will Smith movie demanding to see a manager. She said loads of children in the theater totally acting out and their parents not controlling them.
I've been on WW and lost 40 pounds
I have some more to go, but it's the only thing that has worked for me. It makes sense. It's about making good choices with your food and increasing your activity. I've gone off WW now and then and was able to hold my own, or if I gained weight, I could hop back on the points plan and get things gong again. I don't go to meetings, though. I do everything online. I have access to all the areas of the website, and I'm able to do it that way, but I think it's much slower thn going to actual meetings. I just don't have time in my schedule to go to meetings.
Drink water! Move! Watcch points, and you lose weight.
I got 5 pounds of chocolate candy

Hubby remembered one night...just 1 night...and can't remember when, that I was so hungry for a piece of chocolate, he gave me 5 pounds of chocolate for Christmas!!!  I love chocolate but not that much!!!! I think he wants me to get fat.

I ate 2 pieces so far since Christmas. Hmmmmmmmmmm, think I'll go grab a piece now. It seems to be calling me.

Yes, I stuck to it and lost 30 pounds in 3 months (sm)
You may have increased your salt intake this week and be retaining water? (lots of Weight Watchers dishes are high in sodium)or could you have PMS retention? Also if you started exercising a lot and are building some muscle, you could have lost fat and replaced the fat weight with muscle weight - which is great since muscle is much more compact and burns more calories. A great free website that you might like is 3fatchicks on a diet...not sure of the exact web address but it is very popular and if you Google it you should be able to find it. Don't give up!! I need to go back on it actually!! I have been off the wagon (or is it on the wagon? lol) for a while now. Good luck!!
Hard to recall, probabably 10-15 pounds -sm
in my first pregnancy, was borderline pre-eclamsia, BP was jumping all about at the end, lots of water weight. Daughter ended up being induced as they did not want to take any chances. Did not have that issue the 2nd time.
swore not sore. Ugg. Someday the pounds will go away and the typos too
nm
Those that I know on Chantix, didn't gain the ൜ pounds", but still gained.
It seemed like most of them only gained like 10 pounds or so in the first 3 months on it. They say when quitting smoking to expect to gain 20. I don't care how much I gain. I lost over 50 pounds a couple years ago, so I know I can lose it again if I need to. Better to be 20 pounds over weight than smoking.
Yes, I lose
money if I don’t work so very simple for me. I just have good work ethics.
I'm sorry. It is so sad when we lose a pet.
xx
I'm trying to lose too sm

I've tried all diets, have been successful, but once i stop doing the diet, then i gain back.  Atkins, WW, Jenny Craig.  Last year I did Nutrisystem, but food got expensive.  Now I'm just trying to eat healthy.  I can tell you that Nutrisystem food had fiber and protein in it.  It's tough.  I'm an emotional eater.  I would love to be a part of a losing weight forum.  there is a website www. weightlossbuddy.com.  It's free and you can find other people that live close to you and support each other.  I'd like to lose about 20 or 25. Hey monitor, didn't there used to be a diet board?  If not, that'd be a good board to have.

thanks

use it or lose it
They can keep you alive a very long time these days. I would try to die with my boots on. Have you walked through a nursing home lately? Just keep shuffling along and do not stop until you keel over, or you could have a manny nurse changing your Depends.
well, i try to eat right. i need to lose some weight sm

so i do buy whole wheat stuff, bread, wraps, spaghetti. i buy low fat/fat free lunchmeats, 2% cheese.  i don't buy cupcakes and cookies (or else i'd eat them!)  i don't drink much milk, not that i don't like it, just don't drink it much.  i drink more water than anything.  i'll have about one diet dr. pepper a day.  i love food, it's just trying to stay on a healthy track.  my problem is i don't get enough exercise.  i have a 5 y/o and an 8 y/o that keep me busy.  but i do like to exercise.

But how did she lose all that weight?
She was really heavy and saw her lately in my weekly rags and so thin now.
Oh yes people will tell you you need to lose
weight. My own father was a good example of that. He tried to cut me down and made nasty remarks about my weight. Never mind the fact I saw pictures of his mother who was extremely obese. I guess he forgot about her weight. Anyone who is overweight knows that- does not have to be told- there are mirrors everywhere.
Trying to lose weight

Has anyone tried Hoodia and does it work?

Well, I DID lose 10 lbs. this summer without even trying-
That's about the only good thing that's come of all this. The rest sucks.
Sometimes you won't lose much 1 week but BAM sm
you lose a bunch the next week; sometimes it is water-weight related, other times related to your period or hormones. Some weeks I didn't lose anything, only to have a 4 lb loss the next time! Just be sure to start being active (even if it is only walking to the end of your block) and drink your water!
With depression you lose either way -- sm
depression pretty much kills sex drive, but so do antidepressants. Still, I prefer to be on the meds.
You're gonna lose your man if you don't at least

Men may act macho, but they have feeling, too and like to feel attractive and loved.

has anyone done nutrisystem to lose weight sm.....
and was able to keep the weight off after you stopped eating their food?  i'm tired of being stuck at the same weight.  i was thinking of joining weight watchers.  i've done that before and lost, but i had a 6 mos old baby dragging him along.  now he's 5 and i'm ready to try again. but just wondered if anyone had success with nutrisystem.  thanks
I lose focus after a few hours : (
x
you will not lose weight without exercise.
nm
Maybe didnt lose it. It just went south.
fasd
If he is otherwise healthy, I'd lose the tail.
He'll have to adjust how he balances but otherwise I think he'd be fine.
Me too, it is so very hard to lose a pet. What a beauty.
,
I'm trying to lose weight through the WW program
I started during the summer and kind of fell off of it. I'm trying to lose between 30-40 pounds. My daughter became a vegetarian about 4 months ago and she already lost 23 pounds. I like my meat so I won't go that route, but I'm trying to exercise a little bit every day and eat healthier. Good luck to you and everyone else trying to lose.
so sorry, it sure hurts when you lose your babies.. nm
m
I really lose a lot of respect for the candidates
that talk back to the judges. I know that Simon can be very mean, but it is not like these kids don't know this. I think the singers should bite their tongue and just try to take the comments and try to improve their singing next week.
