That mttest website is terrible. Companies that use that test in my opinion
are just lazy. They need to make up their own test based on their own rules. Much on that test also is about commas and the newer rules are that we don't use that many of them so you could fail over things that just are not that important. Don't sweat it! If they based hiring you on that test site, then the co is not too bright. I have taken the test and passed but I think it is a horrible test for anyone. I think a better way of testing is testing someone's actual knowledge of medical terminology like a phone test. That also guarantees to a company that it is actually you taking the test. I think it is Spheris that has given a phone test ever since they were Edix and the old Your Office Genie also gave a phone test. That speaks wonders of what is in your head.
I've done mttest for quite a few companies,
but none have ever asked for SSN at the end. I would either leave it blank, or send a message to tech support listed at the bottom, asking what you could put in there to make it go through, but that is too private to put over the net, when you don't know what they're doing with that after a test. It's not an offer, it's a test. They don't need your SSN.
Well, it seems the norm to me! I've tested with at least 4 co's in the past few years and

the tests were not dictations that I do on an everyday basis.  I know they pick and choose carefully what they will test you on because there are always kinks in there where the doc either stumbles, mumbles, or you know you would have to be a genius to figure out what they are saying.

I've also tested at a hospital. I only had to type one report and
the rest was the interview and a small written test on abbreviations and proofreading test for correct punctuation etc. I certainly was not asked to come in and sit and do 6 reports. Overkill in my opinion and totally turned me off to this company.
I have had to test at every MT job I've

ever had.  Maybe the 4th one is to see whether you would make stuff up just to get the lines (as some have been known to do), leave a blank, how you would flag the report, etc.  I think a totally easy-breezy test would be more misleading, JMO.

If you've already passed their online test, I believe the
interview was just asking about your skills and preferences. It's not a verbal test like some other companies. Nothing to worry about. You don't need to study for it. It's just a conversation with the HR person or recruiter. Relax, you'll do great!
Two of the best companies I've worked for didn't make me test. Makes you wonder if...sm
these MTSOs that mandate so many "tests" aren't just trying to see how many actual reports they can get transcribed for free. I could understand maybe a written test and one very in-depth transcription test, but 6 is utterly ridiculous. I would have definitely passed on that too and then told the MTSO exactly why.
It was the mttest.
The company asked me to take it through mttest. I'm beginning to think it was the new rules I'm not aware of!
The mttest
was designed by Career Step. If you didn't graduate from their program, I think you are at a disadvantage taking the test.
mttest asking SSN after screening
x
She said it was CareerStep. sm
Which I guess is one of the better schools ??  I don't know.  She claims she spoke to graduates who told her they were making $60,000.  If you look at their website, it really, IMHO, emphasizes the working at home to be with your kids aspect like no daycare costs.  I know a lot of MTs do that, but it can't be easy, especially 5 kids and a special needs child.  Oh and her husband is deployed in Iraq.  Also most of their partner employers outsource to India like Spheris and MQ.
Everett and CareerStep
What is the SUM dication and how does it different from what CareerStep offers? My community college offers Gatlin as their online MT school and I can't get any grants for it -- none are offered to anyone.
Has anyone taken Careerstep's coding
course?  Good or not so good experience with course or getting coding job afterwards?  Thanx.
Trish, I like you but I totally disagree that MTTest is the best
way to find a good MT. I know as fact my way works and it does not waste hours of a person's time. I get good people because I know what to ask and how to screen people. If more recruiters knew how to do it, they would not have to waste all that time too
CareerStep. She should start with an MT education.
If she isn't willing to go through formal training, she's just not interested.

I hear CareerStep is good
I hear CareerStep is good, online, and they offer placement with companies guaranteed if you make 90 or better on your final.

I was blessed enough to get to train with a friend, work under her for 4 years, then went off on my own, but these days, school is an absolute must. Best of luck to both ladies.
I trained at CareerStep, and they partnered with
SLM financial to let me stretch the payments out over 5 years.  It seems like it was about $35 a month.  I was hired right out of school, and I feel that I good a very good basis for transcription with them.
It's a test in progress to measure what MTs know and what type of test to give for the SM
different levels of MTs.  It's over $90.  That's a lot of money to pay to someone who is giving these tests for research as to what type of testing should be done for the different levels of MT.  The AAMT will probably take the results and make a test that they can give in India or the Phillipines or some other foreign country.

Loud music (some concerts) is around 80 to 120 dB

Anytime you want to work on it
Let me know.  I will be more than happy to lend my marketing experience and anything else that needs to be done.
It happens with all groups, everywhere, anytime…
this post was like if you let your children go to daycare, see what happens. The world has become so evil that it just does not apply to if you have your children in day care. Remember about the mother in Texas, stay at home, who drowned her 5 children at 1 time. Beautiful children and yet a mother no less. You cannot just say not on my watch. That is what I was speaking about. I think lots of people have their heads in the sand thinking just home front is safe and secure.
I think anytime you get a raise you should
thank your lucky stars. I have been doing this for over 20 years and I cannot even remember a raise, probably in the 80s or early 90s? I think most places, the companies here, are not giving raises these days. I make less than the 80s and 90s now. Others will make more but they are probably the ones who have their own accounts.
Here's you a link on it. Won't be anytime soon.

Atleast it will give you an idea.. Sadly, I had to take it twice before I passed it LOL

Why would they do a microalbumin test when she has the period? A lot of test s will come out wrong

Neer's test is a shoulder impingement test

Don't think that has to do with the knee.  How about "bucket handle tear" of the knee?  Never heard of Neer having anything to do with the knee.

you can sign up for IPAY anytime and see what
your checkstubs say
"To access the IPay information, logon to QNet by going to www.medquist.com and clicking on the QNet box. Once you are in QNet, click on Departments, then click on Human Resources. On the Human Resources screen, just click on the IPay section and follow the instructions. Once you have registered and logged on to IPay, you will be able to access your 2004 W-2 form, as well as your previous pay stub. You can also view your pay statement any time after 8 a.m. EST of each pay date on IPay."

Anytime Felicia, I enjoy
telling people where to put things.
READ ingredients!! Anytime you see
(meat) *byproducts* you are getting *and paying for* mystery meat that *you would not choose to feed to your beloved animal* if you could see what it was. It's not far-fetched at all to call it "road-kill!"

Good rule of thumb: Most of the mega-corporations out there making dog/cat food and spending BIG BUCKs for advertisement of how great their product is - are usually the ones most guilty of scamming you by adding unhealthy ingredients.

It's not that difficult to find quality food for your best friends -
keep us posted and you can email me anytime.
  You can do it!
Anytime someone makes a suggestion for an -sm
actual action to be taken, all the naysayers on this board try to blast them out of the water with their *flame*-throwers. "What goes around", et al.
I love my ESL docs and would see one anytime sm
over an English as first language doc. All they care about is money, not patient care. I think the ESLs actually CARE about their patients.
Anytime a company does not honor its own paydates,
I would never give a 2nd chance to miss it.

If you have anything in writing or email, I would take that to an attorney. They owe you money. You were given a paydate and they failed to pay. I would also take to the attorney a list of dates/times you tried to contact management, who you were trying to contact, at what number/address, and the response you received.

Not honoring paydates is a zero tolerance issue in my book.

I would make sure at the very least to contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint.

Good luck.
anytime a doctor's wife is involved in the

did you try to do a system restore? anytime i find myself sm
in a situation like yours, i always try system restore to an earlier date to fix the screw up i did. no need to uninstall programs that way either. so much easier. i agree with the other poster, sometimes i get so furious with IT that i hang up on them and fix it myself!! if working on the computer is your income, you owe it to yourself to learn how they work so you can fix minor problems or be best friends with an IT or repair person you can call 24/7 without a huge price.
You are far from stup Kathy. Think it through or contact me anytime.

Anytime! Hope it gets worked out. Good luck! nm

People always seem to have to find fault in everything anytime there is a change. No, we are not

Regarding Medquist, it's no secret that the company outsources offshore.  That has been made public my MedQuist for some time now.

If you spent anytime here at all, y'all know how I feel about offshoring. :0) SM

What most don't realize is while there are laws protecting your medical data in the United States, these laws are unenforceable overseas.  So basically, a patient's supposedly "protected health information" isn't really protected at all once it electronically crosses the borders out of the U.S.  I think it is important that all patients be aware of this fact and have a say whether or not they want someone in India having access to their medical data!

I've been talking to a newspaper reporter in my area who is interested in running a story on this subject especially because I have firsthand knowledge of a local hospital who is outsourcing all of its transcription to a MTSO that offshores to India.  I'm very excited because I've been pushing for public awareness of this subject for a while and I feel like I'm finally on the threshhold of effecting real change in my little part of the industry.

Anyway, change has to start with us, the MTs.  We are MTs and we are patients.  We have valuable knowledge as MTs about what happens to our protected health information and we should pass that knowledge on to those patients who don't have the benefit of being employed in the healthcare industry and are unaware of what happens to all that electronic information that makes up their medical record.  I've told my whole family to ask "who does your transcription" at the doctor's office, the hospital, etc.  When the doctor's office or the hospital hands you a HIPAA disclosure, that's your opening to ask questions about who all sees your medical record, who does the transcription, and is your medical information protected even if it is sent to India to be typed.

Okay, that was my soapbox speech for the day.

happens quite often i would test again or go see your GYN for blood test which is more accurate
nm
Has anyone ever tested for or

Just wondering because I believe that my skills and equipment meet their requirements, but never heard back after sending my resume.

I know that the MTSOs are often bombarded with resumes, but it would've been nice to be able to test for them.

tested it
I tested your theory and that isn't the problem. I just wonder if I hit an "F" key or what is causing it. It does it about every 10 seconds! Thanks for the thought though!
Have you tested lately? I never
dreamed how indepth this has gotten. Why are we expected to know as much as a doctor or nurse? It is not like you can take it on yourself to change anything. The very most you can do is flag it. I miss the days when I could just track one of these guys down and ask them. Now, assuming you are inhouse, it is like you are not allowed to do more than nod hello.
I tested too
I tested three weeks ago and have heard nothing.
I'm tested to death, too
If you create a folder on your desktop called "Sound Files" - then when you are downloading an mp3 file or whatever - right click and do "save to target" - then browse your desktop until you see sound files folder and make sure that is in the box. Then, the files will download to that folder. Then, when you double click on Express Scribe, up on the top you will see "Load" - click on this and then browse for your sound files folder. Highlight those you want to download into express scribe and then down at the bottom, hit ok or load (can't remember which it is). They will then be loaded into express scribe, ready to go.
Was she tested for thyroid? sm
Pretty common in cats and I believe that's one of the symptoms. Good luck.
My child has been tested....sm
By 3 different psychiatrists and psychologists who are children specialists. She does well without medication when she has tasks broken down into small increments and with redirection when she gets off track. I'm not going to medicate her with anything when she is fine when given these helpful guidelines, and her doctors are conservative enough to agree with me and don't hand out pills quickly. If she displayed ADD/ADHD symptoms to the severity that she couldn't function in life without parameters that work it would be a different story.

She is physically active with playing sports (i.e. soccer and basketball depending on the season or doing dance when it's off season for both) and we take her to the playground often. As far as diet goes, we limit her sugar intake as she is more hyper when she is exposed to sugars and even she recognizes that if she has a lot of sugar she gets more hyper.

Too bad the QA's are tested before they're -

The editors for my company are tested and they are trained at 100% before they are turned "LOOSE".  They also have 3% of their work audited.
