1099 ? Is the amount on the 1099 only the money paid to you in 2008. So if I did not receieve payme
than that $$ would be on my 1099 for 2009 not 2008??  I have to invoices that were due to be paid in 2008 but I never received the $$ until January of 2009.  Do I have to claim that money on my taxes this year or next???  Thanks in advance for your help.
Print a copy of the form on your printer, fill it out, copy and send it to your computer via fax may
Just a guess. Or print it, fill it out and fax it to her.
You do not need the 1099. You just need to report the income. Report the company/person ...sm
to the IRS for not sending out the 1099.
What if MTSO doesn't send me 1099?
I don't think she will send one any time soon. Last year I had to send her all the invoices I did for her to tally them up for her to send me a 1099. I don't work for her anymore. It's her responsibility to maintain records on her MTs, so I'm not doing that this year.

Is there something I can do to at least account for the money but let IRS know I didn't get a 1099 from her?
Report it yourself regardless of a 1099...

1099's - just report your income
IRS cannot scan 1099's they have to be hand entered.  All you need to do is to report your income.  You do not attach a copy of the 1099 so it is not like a W2 form.  Just report it and file.  I have one psychiatrist that never gives me a 1099 for the past 10 years and all I do is report it and file and have never had a problem.
You only have to report earnings over $300 on a 1099 form.
Most people don't want to mess with it, so they don't report it. I don't think it's right. I know of people who are selling things on Ebay, parting out cars or doing construction for income, but they still collect unemployment, social security disability, foodstamps, utility payments, and welfare. It's not fair. Those of us who work hard and follow the law do with less while other people cheat the system and live high on the hog. Their kids have designer clothes, $50+ shoes and the latest electronics.

Yes, I've reported it for babysitters before.
I would send a copy of it to my supervisor and let her/him handle
it from there.
CC... mind if I copy this verbatim and send as well?

This could have been a story of My Life in a nutshell.

I told you - more than willing to send you a copy of my latest paystub - nm

I would just supply one digital copy, either send the work back
via an FTP site or email attachment or whatever, or keep addending to a CD, but let them keep their own archives. And why can't they print when you deliver the CD or the work in digital format? I don't do any printing at all. Everything goes back digital and they keep their own copies. Once I bill for the month, everything gets deleted, as it should be under HIPAA.
I bought mine as a download a few years ago. If you want to copy it to another puter, just send
s
where I work, you need to request a copy of corrected report. nm

I saved a copy of each report I typed to a folder on my PC and then used... SM
my line counting software changing the variables to gross lines.  I'm sorry that this subject offends you so much, but there is a difference between line definitions and all MTs should be aware of this.
work out an indexing system that works for you and copy (almost) every report into it.

while Ops offer lot of challenges -- that's a good thing, imho, REALLY ...

I keep my op stored in WORD sorted by

(1) client

(2) specialty (general surgeon, ortho, plastic, podiatrics, ENT, GYN, GI , urology, neurosurgery etc) .... and then in word folders

(3) within speciality, within client I name individual reports like this:

470 hernia vental simple

470 hernia umbilical

470 small bowel resection

=========================================================

470 would be that doctor's id number -- the file holding 470's reports would be named with doctor's last name

=========================================================

works for me, although I do usually do big time "indexing" until I've gota bunch of copied reports.

=========================================================

It's really important to NOT consider these NORMALS until you are more familiar with the dictator ... however... this is worthwhile ANYWAY because the joy of OPs is that most doctors say pretty much the same thing in 80% of their reports ... sometimes more. Gastroenterology and GYN  are excellent "easy money" most of the time but you MUST pay attention and change every difference ...

All these saved reports need to be updated when you review your QA ... those phrases that doctor mumbled yesterday are probably mumbled 24/7/365 ... follow up and record this information.

I use Emedicine for my go-to for a lot of things... while they don't have op reports they are stellar at terminology and spelling, hyphens, and capitalization as far as I can tell.

One of the fabulous things about op reports is usually NO MEDICATION LOOKUPS!!!! (although you will spend time finding out the latest heart stents, hip replacemetn component marketing  names, etc. ) Most medical device manufacturers have "pretty good" web sites -- use them, rather than relative Google popularity wrt spelling, caps, etc.

Good luck -- there is a learning curve but imho it is more than worth it -- Surgeons understand that their dictation is in essence their "BILL" when it comes to Medicare and insurance -- they have a vested interest in it being intelligible and complete ... they may talk really fast but most of the time, if you have samples, you will find they are saying variations of the "same thing" using the same words/terminology.

Oh, and OP pay better.

Sincerely, good luck.!

Get a copy of the check.
You can usually do it free now with online banking.  Check the legal amount, which is the longhand written out line, to see if it's correct.  If it is correct, send a copy to your auto payment company and have them fix it through their bank.  Sometimes the MICR line can be encoded wrong if someone mistypes or transposes when encoding.  Call your bank and tell them to make an adjustment for the incorrect amount.  However, if you filled the check out wrong, yes, you need to send another check for the $61.00.  If they try to put late charges on, talk to a manager and have the fees waived.
Is QA only there to stare at a report and send it
need QA.  It used to be if you didn't know what the dicator was saying, you asked the dictator.  Go figure.  QA in this day and age is there to catch the errors before they go to the client.  They are supposed to be the safety net!  So why complain when you have to correct some errors or fill in some blanks.  Give some feedback and move on.
I also copy to Word to check for errors..ow got used to it. nm
tt
Are you talking about full QA where you send every report for review?
If you are not a newbie and are full time, then it does not seem fishy at all. If you can't figure out the platform and account specs in 3 days' time...

If you are new and will require mentoring, then that may be different depending on the quality of education you received.

I say go with the online records searches - I had some "fishy" stuff I needed to check out.
Tried it on my own via the courts, court clerks, public records, etc., and it took me days and days of weeding, and found out a smidge of info.  Went online and paid $9.95 at one of the common search sites, and found out PAYDIRT! So much info, and all turned out true, that I was amazed! Best $10 I ever spent! This was on a "relative" who was trying to pull a con on an elderly relative.  The elderly relative still fell for the con, but my conscience is free, cause I warned her up front.  Everything we feared has come to pass, but at least we tried to give warnings up front. Found out aliases, financial info as in legal charges for bad checks, property titles, and a whole bunch more! For $10 and all on one form! Then called the court clerks back and verified all info, but I had to have the info first - backwards, as usual!
I get paid by the report and would only
consider by line if all I did were MRIs, CTs, etc.
paid per report
I need some advice. I have been with my company for two years and was hired at .10 cpl. I have recently been assigned to another account (radiology) which pays per report (1.15). The dictators are horrible and the reports are long. I am making way less on this account than I did on my previous account which my company no longer even has. Any advice on what I should do or any advice at all would be helpful. Thanks.
paid by report (help)
I am now getting paid by the report (radiology) and I was wondering if anyone knew what this consists of. What I mean is a two page report count as one report or what. I guess I am confused and need to know if this is a good thing or bad. I have also been paid by the line. So I am new to this.
Paid Per Report
Has anyone here ever heard of being paid a different amount depending on the "type" of report?  A different amount for x-rays, different amount for mammos, different amount for ultraounds, and a different amount for CT's and MRI's.
PAID PER REPORT
I'm paid per report based on what type of report it is (XR/CT/MRI, etc) BUT if the report is abnormally long then we can charge double for that report. Most of my reports are about 1 page or less (mostly less) but if they go to 2 or more pages, I charge double for that one.

I have a feeling this is the norm for radiology. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
Paid by report or cpl - Which is better in general? nm
nm
Being paid per report for editing.
Do you guys think $1.38 per report is fair for doing QA in escription/and emailing feedback?
If you are being paid per report for MRI's and CT's, what is a good rate? nm
:O)
I send one quarterly check to the Dept of Treasury which --sm
distributes to appropriate categories. I also send a separate check to NC Dept of Revenue for state taxes.
Is $1.20 per report plus paid for links good for radiology? nm

Great platform, but curious about being paid by line vs. report as well, which is best?

Does anybody have program to dle-ck MQ lines? I would like to check every report

to see if all my work is being counted on a 65-character line, including spaces EVERY TIME - or are there occasional reports through the day/times during the day that the lines actually go longer than 65 characters.

At this point I would like to take the time to verify each and every report.  Sometimes it just feels like a report should have had more lines - or that a report goes on over to page 3 and you know it should have more lines and it is not much lines and you are on such a time crunch you don't what to go and count (of course because the report IS long).

So, is there a program out there that I could use as a double check to verify they aren't turning the knob at certain times during the day to make the lines be i.e. 90 lines or so?  I hope I have explained this good enough.

Thanks if anybody knows of one.

It's not personal, it's business.  (I always like that line from "You've Got Mail")

You can go back and check the report if you know your job number.
Do F5 choose detail report type, put in dates you want to search and press run report, then click on the job number you want and under job view choose user output. This is the way it looks when it goes to the client. Hope this helps.
They steal your money and then send you a check and you are thrilled. Give me a break.
:
Send a letter of demand payment (check Nolo Law websites) - sm
to find any legalese you may want to include on it), and send it via Registered Mail, so that she must sign for it and you will get a receipt proving she received it. If she doesn't pay by your demand date, file a claim at Small Claims Court. Very inexpensive, and if she doesn't pay, and doesn't show up at court (in your state), you win by default. If still no payment, you can return to Small Claims and put a lien on her car, her house, anything you want, which can be forcibly confiscated by the Sheriff and then you can sell it to recoup the money owed to you.
I agree check with your facility. Enlarging the font size can cause problems once a report uploads

I wrote a macro that would take the font size back down to 100% once I was finished and ready to sign off.  I think I assigned to something like CNTRL+ALT+F and I got into a habit of doing that before hitting whatever function keys to spell check and sign off.  It worked great.

Check with the school that you paid money to for MT training.
If they can't help you get a job afterwards, then you've been robbed.
Seems to be getting paid with a cash "card" instead of a check. Done at other types of

okay, york hospital said they had delivery records, but no prenatal records. sm
they had no idea who she practiced with or anything like that and of course SIL doesn't know any name other than Freundel. i am also a midwife besides being an MT and in order for me to take her given her bicornuate uterus, i have to have her records. i guess delivery records is better than nothing, LOL, but i have to have her prenatal records. i wonder if there is a clinic there or something that med students rotate through. i couldn't even find ms. freundel on AMA, but she may not be through with her training yet either and that is probably why.
Check your line count and what you are getting paid for. Don't trust what they SAY you are gettin

That is "web site" in post above. Also, Auto Copy add-on for Firefox will automatically copy
Auto Copy add-on for Firefox AUTOMATICALLY copies what you select (highlight) on a web site to the clipboard.

Then you can paste it in a document.

It just saves the step of right clicking and then clicking on "copy" to put something on the clipboard. Just select it, and it is on the clipboard.

It only works only on web sites-- only copies stuff you select on web sites, i.e. not in other documents.
How do you copy your SH file to text - do you copy each dictionary separately? nm

patient records and prisoner records
Does anybody know if our USA prison system is keeping prisoner records in the good old USA, or are those records offshore outsourced too? I am just curious because it seems to me that law enforcement in general does not offshore records, and I was wondering about prisoner records? If anybody knows, please post. Thanks in advance.

I charge the same amount for a "normal" report as for any other report.
You still have to listen to the dictation and change anything that's different.  I had one woman try to pull this on me.  She'd dictate, "Just pull up my normal, but change this, change that, switch that around, move that, add this, delete that, and change the other."  Then she'd only want to pay me what equated to $.03 per line.  She wanted 1:1 on her dictation to transcription ratios.  I told her to take her cheap account down the road because I'm worth more than that.
1099 -- you can buy

You can buy them at Staples or Office Depot.  They might come with Turbo Tax also -- not 100% sure.  But I just bought them.  You need her social security number.

need 1099
I have been trying to get in touch with someone that I worked for last year who still owes me a little bit of money and a 1099 form. I've emailed her 7 times, (none of which have been bounced back so she must be getting them), left 1 voice message, and sent 1 fax. She won't pick up the phone and she won't answer my email. By law I have to report this income, but what to do w/o the 1099? Thanks very much.
