DocQScribe platform
Is this an easy platform to learn? Productive? Fair reporting lines? I'm considering working for a company that uses this platform. Any input appreciated.
DocQscribe Platform
Does anybody know anything about companies other than MQ that use DocQscribe?
DocQScribe Platform Users

Does anyone use the DocQScribe platform and think the line count is correct?  When I worked at MQ, after switching to DQS, my line count went down, down, down.  They did later reimburse us for an inaccurate line count, but this makes me hesitate to work for any other company that uses DQS.

To anyone using this NOT working at MQ - it is set up so you can only get 2 jobs at a time and when you sign off your job it is automatically sent?  (I hated this feature at MQ) Would appreciate any comments about this.

DocQscribe Platform and Medical Spellchecker.
I absolutely hate the spell check on DocQScribe and wondered if any one knows if it is possible to get another spell checker to work with it. I have Sylvan Software's Medical Spell Checker and love it in Word. I also have their Shortcut word Expander and that works in the platform automatically. It would make my life so much easier if I could get the spell checker to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
DocQscribe Platform and Medical Spellchecker.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a different spellchecker to work with DocQscribe? I have one from Sylvan Software that I love and I hate the one in DQS. I also have Sylvan's Shortcut word Expander and that works automatically with DQS.
DocQScribe platform - Dialup works.
Might try finding a company who uses this and see more and more do. One is DSG I think it was but might email them and ask

Dictaphone Platform Help
Can anyone help me?  I am trying to find a job and I have noticed alot of employers are looking for Dictaphone platform experience, EXtext experience?
Dictaphone is also the name of a platform

I love it too and use it with the dictaphone platform...nm
:o)
Well, we agre on that point. Dictaphone is the better platform.
:D
Depends on the platform. I did not like Dictaphone speech.
nm
Dictaphone is the software platform. You actually transcribe
in Extext and Transnet is where your get your audio - like below poster said. I have my audio go thru transnet and then to ExpressScribe where I use by USB foot pedal. Dictaphone sells a foot pedal for $40 - which you may be able to use - but it did not rewind on the right like I needed so had to use my own existing foot pedal.
How does the footpedal work???
OK. This may be strange. But, I listen to a lot of audio programming online through iTunes. My son is doing research for school and asked if I could transcribe a news report for him. I can do it the old fashioned slow way, without a foot pedal, but I have a footpedal. I've never before used it for anything other than work, so I just don't question how it's set up. Can I "point" it to work with something like iTunes, as well?
Actually, I don't know if your model of footpedal is going to work or not.

Link to support article that Olympus RS23 and RS24 pedals do NOT work with Express Scribe.  It says nothing about RS25.  Contact Express Scribe to see if it will work or not.

DSG has PRN work and uses DocQscribe.
Hope this helps.
Are you trying to say you work on DocQScribe on dial-up????

And I had to pay for connection fee and modem for the DSL????

I hope I am misunderstanding you!grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Will Vista work with DocQscribe?
Hi!  Going to purchase a new computer - can anyone tell me if VISTA is compatible with DocQscribe?  TIA :D
Just as a note, Windows Media player will NOT work with a footpedal.

Unless there's some voodoo magic out there that I'm not aware of.

Does your Infinity pedal work with DocQscribe?

Just wondering if your Infinity foot pedal works in DocQscribe?  Does it automatically recognise it?

My friend has a footpedal that a former employee of Medquist was using, and went to use it as a new employee with MedQuist and it won't work now.  It works in Express Scribe perfectly.  MedQuist says you have to rent one from them and they won't "troubleshoot" problems with the pedal since it wasn't purchased through them......(even though it was by this former employee).

Any suggestions?

does Instant Text work in DocQScribe?
Anyone know? I appreciate your answers.
DocQscribe and Dragon Naturally Speaking.. Can they work together? Thanks in advance.
nm
I work on Escription platform and the adapter didnt work for me. I tried it on my laptop though
and the foot pedal would just not play correctly with the adapter. I think others have tried it and done it but it just didnt work for me.
Most Dictaphone stuff is proprietary and won't work with other systems.
If there's an adapter out there, I'm not aware of it. Hope you can return your purchase.
Whoops, probably should have mentioned, I work on Dictaphone ExSpeech. NM

Anyone know if a pedal with Dictaphone adapter will work with ExpressScribe?

Thanks !!!

What platform do you work on? Maybe I can help.
e-mail me if you like.
I work with VR and have used the same platform now for
about 4+ years. I work part-time and make around $500 or more per week. I personally love it myself- I have the audio as fast as it will go and my last QA score was 99.9 so I disagree with the person who said cannot be fast and still get good QA. Having said all the above, I do not think it will ever take the place of MTers. Same platform and yet numerous errors that have to be corrected all the time- one physician in particular I recall- no matter what his preop diagnosis is and his postop the same (or supposed to be) it always comes out with chronic renal failure, always even when not said. Same platform, different errors, lots of corrections back then and now. Don’t worry your pretty head about this getting rid of transcriptions, gotta be a lot better before that.
What transcription platform do you work on? sm
Hi all! Just curious about the platform you work on and if you like it? If there was a "dream" platform, what would it be? What would you change on your platform if you could? Don't be shy, tell us what you think. :)
Platform that does not work with Vista
Last I heard, Medquist (DocQScribe) did not work with Vista.
The platform is slow and they run out of work.

Part-time work using Extext/word client/dictaphone
Anyone know any companies that are hiring that use this system?  I really want to start part-time and then probably commit to full time later.  I really want a company that supplies your equipment!  Thanks.
At an old job we could return work we did not want, but then they fixed their platform so you could
so it is probably only a matter of time before all companies do that, smart thing to do but yes it does cut into your paycheck if you get a horrible run of bad ESLs.
crummy platform gave it away. I know where YOU work

iChart...is this a good or bad platform to work on?

Any info appreciated.  I have never worked on this platform.  TIA

The company I work for will not have the platform until this fall. sm
I just got a heads up since my computer will not work with Escription. I'm trying to decide whether to replace my Office software, or get a backup computer. Thanks.
Lanier is a type of dictaphone, but when speaking of a C-phone, it's meant as the Dictaphone Con

Smartype should work in any word based platform - sm
If Emdat is a web based platform, then it won't work. Fighting that (on Chartscript) myself right now and hate it!
An excellent platform and a good line rate with plenty of work -
Then leave me alone and let me do my thing! :-)
MTSO with platform versus no platform (big message)

If a MTSO advertises that the MT works in MS Word and sends dictation by FTP, does this usually mean there will be no demographic/doctor database and the demographics will not be autopopulated?

I got into a mess with a small company (got out real quickly too).  I was required to print out daily email copies of the doctors' office patient schedules (which were barely legible) and type in all information.  I spent more time hunting for the correct patient through pages and pages of these schedules.  Then I had about 25 pages worth of doctor's names that I would have to go through to find the attending, referring, etc.  A total waste of time as I didn’t get paid for that.

I wish MTSO would give more information as to what platform they use (if any).  Proprietary software is such a generic, totally useless description.  Would they buy a new car that listed, "Car has gasoline operated motor?"

And for Pete's sakes, why so secretive about the pay?  Give a ballpark figure.  Just say, pay is between 7-12 cpl depending on skill, testing, etc. Tell me if you pay for spaces, headers, etc.  It would save them time because I wouldn’t even apply for a 7 cpl job.

Before I spend an hour or two testing, I need more information from a company to be sure it is compatible for my needs.  If the MTSO would spend a little time on their website detailing their platform, how they send/receive files, pay rates,  how line rate is determined (spaces/no spaces) employee/IC/SE status, minimal line count, whether work pools consist of 100s of doctors, or smaller pools with 25-50 doctors etc.   Having all this information on their website would save them time and the MTs time.   Phoenix Medcom has a really good layout describing pretty much everything an MT would want to know before testing with them.  I am just tired of testing with a company and then finding out the job wasn’t exactly suited to my needs.

Platform versus non-platform (templates)?

I've been working for MTSOs for years now, using their templates which sometimes cause productivity problems (macro issues, etc). I'm wondering if productivity is increased when working on a structured platform, such as one that a national company provides for its transcriptionists?  I've never used a platform, but it would seem that all one needs to do is straight type onto the screen and the platform program takes care of margins, page breaks, etc?

Any thoughts (as well as companies who are hiring who use platforms) would be appreciated.  Thanks

USB footpedal

Where do I purchase a USB footpedal?

TIA

Footpedal
You wouldn't be working for Zylomed would you? I was to start work with them - they sent the foot pedal and it was nothing but problems. We (meaning me and their IT people) could never get the foot pedal with the adapter to work. Needless to say, I never did any work for them.
footpedal
I had to buy a 9-pin pedal and go to RadioShack to buy an adaptor. I haven't had any problems.
MT without footpedal
I am an MT with Cerebral Palsy and it is virtually impossible for me to use a footpedal so I use hot keys on my keyboard to control my dictation. It is wonderful. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Once you get used to what keys control what, it doesn't slow you down at all. It is definitely something I couldn't live without and I enjoy having at my disposal.
No way to do it other than with the footpedal,
but you can adjust the speed of the forward and rewind arrows...click on the "more" button.  I really do not care for this player either.
footpedal
Can anybody tell me if the Olympus footpedal with serial (COM) port works with escription (EditScript) ?  TIA
footpedal
I would think you should ask the company you will be working for which one they would be using.   They may actually provide all that equipment anyway.
so..... how IS that footpedal, anyway?? NM
.
Yes, you have a footpedal and headphones

are connected to your computer, the foot pedal into the USB port and the headphones into the headphone jack on the computer.  In my case I have a laptop that runs for quite a while on the battery, so I can either run it on the battery or I can plug it into an electrical outlet on the deck.  I have wireless cable internet, so I don't have to be connected to the router or anything.  I also have wireless keyboard and mass, and the little reception unit for that plugs into the USB port, it is about the size of a mouse.

So all I have to do is take my laptop, my keyboard, mouse, foot pedal and earphones on the deck and I'm all set.  All of it is very lightweight and not cumbersome like a C-phone would be to drag out and hook up.

I took tests with footpedal. If using

Windows Media Player, have to keep hitting the play and rewind buttons with the mouse.  Very time consuming but doable.  Good Luck on your test!!

oops, that's WITHOUT footpedal, sorry...
