Hi Dottie
I don't do ASR and don't know much about macros either.  (Wish I did!)  There is a great site called productivity talk that offers tips on a variety of topics useful to MTs and others, and I am including a link below.  Lots of info on macros there.  Good luck!

Paula,

Thanks a lot for sharing these great websites!
Not at all typical!

Typical....

Your bad behavior has to be tolerated  and  the heck with everybody else.  Another example of bad manners.

That's typical VR
I promise this was an actual sentence. The doctor dictated, "This is Dr. Wilson Period." Of course, we know that should be plugged into the demographics screen.

What VR transcribed was, "This is Dr. Wilson Perianal."

LOL. Yeah, one day it will be perfect. That's funny!!!
I don't have a typical day, one day I can do 2500

lines in about 12 hours and another day I'm lucky to get 1000 in 8 hours.   I have an expander, have a few templates but don't get those dictators on a regular basis.  I do NOT have to enter any demographic information or look up addresses, etc.   I  work in batches, don't have to save each report separately.  I have enough experience that I rarely have to work up anything, but also will spend 30 minutes searching for something rather than leave a blank.

I get up frequently.  I try to apply myself for at least a good hour or more and then take a short break.  My feet swell really bad and I'm getting butt spread so I try to get up and move around.  I never thought I was a particularly fast typist, but did the time clock thing and found that I was averaging 270+ lines/hour.  Some days I work 6 hours/day, some days 8 to 10.  I may have a superduper day where I make 3000 lines/day, but the next day I only do 1000, because I just can't routinely do 3000 lines/day and have a life.

The thing that has helped me most is limiting my time on-line and having my e-mail so that I can't see/hear when a new one comes up so I don't stop typing and check e-mail.

I routinely do 85+% ESL, but maybe once a month get a day where I have lots of normals and that spoils you.

But this is not your typical dictation

I usually do 30 minutes in 45 minutes to an hour also but this is something completely different and it almost gets to the point you pull your hair out when you cannot hear what they are saying during this meeting or several talk at once, etc.  So you cannot use this rule of thumb -- believe me I have been there many times.

Again I would guess between 8 to 12 hours and feel good if you get it done in 8.

Typical media; what do they know.

Yep, but that's typical for a national.

QA typical per line pay

I am thinking about changing over to QA but am wondering what the pay per line normally starts out at.  Can anyone give me some help.

Sounds like a typical guy..)) n/m

I do not think that 8 hour a day supervisor is typical at all.

Typical welfare mentality, just sit with
your hand out and do nothing to help yourself. Let the taxpayers take care of you. Never take any responsibility for your own welfare or the welfare of your family, just collect the welfare bounty that everyone else pays taxes to provide. Why shouldn't people be prepared?
Typical care about no one else mentality
Typical me..me..me, dont care about the rest of the people, lock me and my family await in a gated community and who cares about anyone else mentality.  God help you if you are ever the victim of a disaster and did not have the time or money to buy supplies.  I sure hope every one around you has your attitude and you feel the pain of hunger and thirst..Hello, America, where are you?
A $300+ bill is typical for us in Arizona. sm

We use the payment plan so our bill is the same every month. They average all 12 months and come up with a month payment.  Our winter bills usually would be as low as $70 if we weren't on the payment plan.

Can't live here without AC - no way, no how.

What are the typical hours for 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts ... sm
or are they different with every company?  What is the difference in pay for 2nd and 3rd shifts?  TIA

What is a typical rate for QA per line?

If that is your typical attitude, well...I think we all understand now.
Wishing you peace and the very best of luck.
Yep, $2.00 a page and the page has about 30-40 lines on it nm

NJ $3 page, though I have heard as low as $1 page.

When I worked for a national, up thru 2 years ago, I was getting $1.75 page and heard they got $4.

Interesting and typical. Accept responsibility for nothing
He's a loser
You are a hypocrit. You attack me for my position and then say you have a right to yours. Typical.
I did not attack anyone, just stated an opinion.  You have been up and down this thread attacking every single person for posting something you don't like.  Talk about pot-kettle-black.  LOL!!!  Well, my last post to you. You are seriously cyberderanged.
No, it is not typical. Please search for a company that respects you more than that. nm

Hahah..typical male answer to me..
I had a doc dictate once that his patient was annoyed because when he had gone to the pharmacy to pick up his RX (which he didn't know was going to be called in) it was for Flagyl and not some free Vicodin, and that he wasn't going to take the Flagyl because he wasn't supposed to drink beer with it.
Typical liberal, start with the name-calling when you have nothing else
So typical, "Don't do as I do, do as I say".

Failure, uneducated, jealous, resentful, TYPICAL.
What's typical for your email addr. w/nationals? sm

Help! need info. Would like responses from multiple people please.

Just started a new job last week. Everyone I get mail from, supervisors, tech, mgmt, etc. have a  So&so@OurCompany.com type email. (I'm not saying what company), but they are having me use my personal email.

Can't help wondering if I have been singled out for some reason. I feel totally excluded.

Also, even email that is obviously addressed to a large group has only my name/email in the To: box. This seems very strange. Why would it be top secret what group/s it is to, i.e., "All MT's, Hospital XYZ group, etc.

It seems as if I'm only getting email as a blind copy from everyone. How can I figure out whether all the other MTs have So&so@OurCompany.com addresses assigned & some higher up just hates me for some reason, or whether all MTs do not get a company-assigned email address?

That's a typical hourly rate for remote
I personally wouldn't drive that far for it.
As long as it's typical stuff, you can't go wrong. nm

what is a typical QA hourly wage for experienced QA
wondering what a median QA hourly wage for an experienced QA
That was so typical of all AHDI's double-talk.
Especially that first one by Pati H. The first couple sentences hardly made sense. And her answer certainly did dance around the point of the question, didn't it?

That just shows ta go ya.... if you want REAL answers about the MT field, the LAST people anyone wants to be asking is AHDI. Someone should let 'Advance' in on that little secret.
Typical bleeding heart everybody is a victim mentality, except of course...
those who are smart enough to not get pregnant at 14, finish school, work hard, and pay for  and provide for themselves.  Then they are villified by YOU for not wanting to just give it all away to those who have NOT made good choices for themselves in this infinite land of opportunity that we live  in, the same country where  people around the world are knocking on the doors to get into, and HAVE  come here and taken advantage of the opportunity here.  Opportunity doesn't mean it's handed to you.  Sick, young, old, down on luck, or having a rough spell is one thing, but a lifetime of mooching is something else.  There IS a difference.  But that shades of gray world you live in doesn't allow you to see with any clarity.

Typical hateful liberal. Taking pleasure in someone else's misfortune.

Yep, sour grapes is right. Typical attitude of people who are angry with life.

This IS the typical trash situation that exists now for us at-home MTs. I'm thinking of leaving,

Page, AZ
This last summer we took a driving trip and were set to stop in Page, AZ for one night... Ended up there for an extra night because of car trouble and we loved it -- the entire Page/Lake Powell area is gorgeous and we are planning a trip back asap -- I'm jealous!!
Their web page...
www.limewire.com explains why they aren't breaking any laws - something about there is no central hub where people are downloading music (as with Napster back in the day) but simply file sharing - so therefore it is legal. But I would never pay to download music - and I don't think the Beatles are upset about lost revenues!
per page
I actually work for a service by page and actually I do pretty well and feel almost better than a per line rate. I wonder if 60 lines is a combination of both text and blank lines?
Per page

I get paid gross line and from top to bottom of the page.  My rate is lower which is what the docs like and on chart notes just take the line count for word.  Kind of like your two lines on a page you get the page.  One word on the line, I get the line.  Also with my clinic notes, there is just one blank in between patients but I do get that line.  Of course I cut apart the notes for the clinic so that kind of pays it.  I also make good money and can't complain.

By page

You need to turn it around so the doctor feels he is "saving money" by being charged by the line and therefore for only the part of the page that is completed.  Tell him that if you charge by 1/4 of the page anything over 10 lines would be a mininum of $1.50 - 2.00  and so he would be paying for part of the page that would not be filled up.   The same applies if he were to go only 1 line past the 1/2 page mark and thus pay for the entire page.  So make it seem more economical for him.  Also make sure that you figure your line charge out in the font you want to type in and if he wants a smaller, convert it over to charge out.  As long as they know that a gross line -- which is what I charge -- consists of how many characters in the Courier 12 font in, you are not cheating.  But show him how it would be beneficial for him to do the line charge and don't go with an attitude of "my way" show him you are looking out for him.   I would probably start out around 12 cpl per gross line as you will probably get a lot of standards that you can set up, etc.   So if work up to 200 to 300 lines per hour that is very good pay.

Patti

Wow, we are both on the same page!
I would love to be a homemaker and be with my children, btw I dont have any yet, but that is what I would love to do!!! I agree with your comments totally on this board. Have a blessed day!
It's not there for me either. I think that and the mom page
should have a drop down in the menu thing above.
Could be anywhere from 1 page
to 5 pages.  These would be reports, not chart notes.
If you will look down the page...
There is a discussion about this. Here is a link to my post, which gives a link to the chair I currently use. I highly recommend it.
Are you saying $10 per page?
I just raised my rates to .12 for gross lines, old accounts but again I make good money per hour and just cannot justify raising higher.  I am happy.  That is gross line per Courier 12 and 1" margins.  With one account lots of consults and letters and can make $50 to $70+ per hour and so am happy.  Guess that would equal 13 to 14 65 cpl so that is in the ballpark.   My accounts pay on time, within 48 hours, never a bounced check, NEVER question my line counts or TAT.  I pick up and deliver, do envelopes, cut apart chart notes, and make good money.   Was just sick last week and did a pick up and delivery anyway and one of my docs told me to go home and rest and all others asked how I was feeling.   So do what is fair for all, do not price yourself out of the account as he could think that he could do it again himself but show him how much more free time he has and it is worth the money.   Oral surgeons will have lots of letters and op notes and so you can make a lot of standards and use a lot of expanders.   So you have the opportunity to make good money, again I always see what my bottom line is or hourly rate and not what cpl I charge.
$1.30 per page???
I know it really depends on many factors, but I was wondering if $1.30 per page is a good rate?  I haven't typed a per page rate in years and I don't remember!  This would be a psych. account.  This company gives a template (I get paid for the template lines).  I am thinking this seems kind of low.   Any help would be appreciated.
$1.30 per page?

Oh, gosh...I almost fell over when I read this.  Maybe I missed something here, but when I had my own private accounts a few  years ago I was charging $5-$6 per page, which was actually low at that time.  The reason was that these docs were excellent dictators (hand-picked, of course), and $ wasn't an issue.

I'd be interested in any other input.

Good luck.

$1.30 page
They should be ashamed of themselves. Don't take the job! I type speech pathology reports and charge $5.00 per page and do 200 pages a month for the last 8 years. These reports take up every inch of the paper, as they do not say
"new paragraph" very often
You can do better I'm sure!

I get $2.00 per page
