I happen to have the Stedman's, so that's what I use, but as far as I know it's not better than Dorland's - both about the same.

No worries, it's all for the best
Georgie's mom....apparently compassionate conservatism is genetic.

"What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary,is that they all want to stay in Texas. Everybody is so overhwlemed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway so this (chuckle)--this is working very well for them." Barbara Bush at the Houston Astrodome
Worries me....
everytime I hear about it because my aunt died of it and two of my other aunts had it. My sister just found a lump about a month ago, but luckily not cancer... We definately need to keep up on our exams...
No worries
Several years ago, when I worked for a hospital, they were threatening VR daily (I think to make us scared so they could cut our production pay which they did). Then, they outsourced. Guess what? Back to hiring inhouse, and they can't even find day shift transcriptionists because there are too many jobs now they are bringing transcription back inhouse and getting rid of VR, using it sporadically. I spoke to at least 2 doctors in the last month who told me they would and could never do without their medical transcriptionist. Although they claim they speak clearly they realize a computer and an Editor may not be enough for them. As a matter of fact, I was afraid like you are. But I am not afraid now. Another doc said to me just the other day when I went for my physical for a hospital job (finally a job for a hospital again) that I am lucky to be an MT, there will always be work for me. What I am afraid of however are companies which hide the way they count lines, or when I live up to my incentive pay and cannot afford it if my incentive gets cut like the hospital did years ago. I try to always have my bills under my incentive instead of 100%, in case of something bad happening again. You are not crazy, we have been going through this for years, and finally, I believe when you hear that from a job or a rumor, it is a control tactic to try to get you to work cheaper or harder than you already are which is probably hard enough! Good luck. And please try not to worry. Your skills are very valuable.
No worries
I normally type 200 digital minutes per day so I was trying to equate that to lines.  I was told that a good MT with many shortcuts could do 3000 lines in an 8-hour shift.  But, they pay is only 8 1/2 cents for radiology which is not that good (I don't think).  I was hoping someone could help and you did, thank you :)
Just imagine-- no worries
I would love to wake up every morning and have no worries about gas prices going up even higher, whether or not I can afford my utility bill, whether or not I as a single woman will be able to find someone to help me with heavy work and things I can't do by myself, etc.  No matter what state of chaos the world is in, they just go on about their daily routine, just like they always have.  They also help each other-- what a novel idea.  Their lifestyle is sounding better all the time-- a big plus for me is that I already have a horse.
No worries, Taylor has it in the bag!!!!!! :-)
No doubt!
You will have bigger worries than us sitting in

Things will go quicker, smoother and with less worries,,,,,,

Taking time off without the worries is great

I think too many times IC's are treated like employees.  The OP is an IC and has a set schedule?   If you have a set schedule (no freedom), you should be deemed an employee and given PTO days, etc.  IC's should not be made to let anyone know anything.    Two weeks is an extended amount of time and out of courtesy she should let her "client" even if that is an MTSO know in advance that she will not be available to work those two weeks.  As for toting a laptop on vacation, not me!  The whole idea of a vacation is to relax and not have to worry about typing.  Most physicians do understand that you need a vacation.  They will cut you some slack.  Not sure about a two week period though.  Someone with their own accounts that wants to take off extended periods of time (more than one week) should probably find someone to "cover".    I have also found in this profession that transcriptionists do not trust others as they could try to steal their accounts if they were to take time off leaving the account in someone else's hands literally.  All the more reason to network and find someone trustworthy who will scratch your back and you in turn scratch their back when needed.  Tit for TAT so to speak but at a fair price.

No worries.. thats the one who keeps telling us to clean our trailers and get an education.

I agree. The silly phone calls just make the worries worse, if
