and combine that with a good stereo headset, you'll be all set to go.  I am able to hear so well all sorts of dictators.  I cannot, and will not, work with Express Scribe, and I have found no other player as superior as GearPlayer.  They have a free download you can trial it for 5 days and see if works in your platform/voice files, found at transcriptiongear.com

I have the newest version

Maybe downloading the newest version will help.
?
Newest version 4.17 will play .dss.

Just downloaded the newest version, 4.17, and it works with .dss.

I'm glad that the NCH people fixed this. Three cheers for them!

The newest version is VERY user friendly. The one right before
it stunk. Make sure you're getting to work on one that has the very newest version that came out this fall.
Express Scribe plays .dss files for me. (nm)

Scribe plays dss files--need update sm
It sounds like you need to upgrade your version of Express Scribe. DSS files should play automatically. Download dss32.exe update here:

http://www.nch.com.au/components/index.html
Yes, it should. As I recall, Express Scribe plays .dss files..sm
and that's what Olympus files usually are, but you can double check because some Olympus players also use .WMA files, I believe. Express Scribe plays nearly any file, but it should list on download website what all it will play.
I just went to the website and clicked on the link to download the newest version and it worked.
www.pcshorthand.com is the website.  You can download a free trial of the software, but eventually you will have to buy a license.  You can also pay a little extra and have them ship the actual software to you with an instruction manual.
I love gearplayer.....use it in conjucntion with an ftp site...

I receive dss files with new version of ES

I just downloaded the newest version of ES, 4.17, a couple of days ago and I receive dss files fine.  There was a couple of glitches in the "settings" which I had to change, but now plays fine.

Another possibility:   I know when I first downloaded the free ES on my second computer, I could not listen to the files, but it was because I had a different foot pedal on that computer and so I had to go in and make some changes concerning the foot pedal settings in ES.

Are you able to play the files using just the hot keys? If you would like to compare the "settings" which I have on my computer for ES to yours, let me know and I can do that either by email or phone.

I use the electronic version and love it!!!
When you type a drug name it tells you both brand name and generic info. Also, if you don't know how to spell something but know what it sounds like it will give you different names of drugs that would fit what you typed in.
Absolutely, I absolutely love my job and

I love ST. Older Version Shortcut for SBlocks-sm
I have the original version too, not Stedmans. It is the easiest Expander to use. I have tried others and too much to remember. ST is as simple as it gets.

Anyway, for saving a SmartBlock, I highlight the text, then do ALT+Y+B. The save box opens, and I tab once to name it, then tab to put a description, then enter. It's saved.

I have normals saved like this. For example, I would name an H&P for Doctor Smith "hpsmith" - in ST, I only have to type "hpsm" and "hpsmith" comes on the SmartLine, hit enter, and it's on the screen.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! nm

Absolutely, I love my job! nm

I absolutely love them, I fly through them
and miss them when all I get are Discharge Summaries all day long. Once you get your docs down, they are a piece of cake.
I absolutely love when
Someone walks in or another phone rings and they put me on hold and I have to listen to elevator music for 5 minutes.
I absolutely LOVE Directv!!!
The picture is clearer than cable. The only time the picture may go out is if there is a severe thunderstorm and even then mine will usually work. I will never switch back to regular cable. We have the HDTV TIVO box and we absolutely love it. If you can get that, do. TIVO is awesome!!!
I absolutely love pediatrics....but then

Just started using it this year, and don't know why I never used it before. Now I won't live without it. javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');

I absolutely love it and have for 25+ years.
I honestly believe this is a job you either love or hate.
I absolutely love ER/ED reports.
When I worked at a hospital, we had a rotating schedule on who did those and x-rays. Like poster below, if you don't want them I will take them.

absolutely gorgeous and charming. love him.
so glad he got out of that ashley/jessica/joe family mess. nick was too smart and classy for that obscenely creepy family. Loved seeing Nick cheer on Drew in the audience. Sweet brothers. Love them both but Nick is way cuter.

I absolutely love mine...see message
I have health issues and this bed has been wonderful for me. My husband up until we got our sleep number bed was always up by 4-5 in the morning because of pain. He hasn't had any pain since. It was well worth the money for us.
Anybody have a digital camera they are absolutely in love with?
I'm looking to purchase one this weekend, preferably under $300, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.  The one I have now is cheap and you can't even see what you're aiming at, so I think a disposable camera is an improvement, but was hoping to get some "expert" advice!!  Thanks!
Been editing VR for about 5 years now and absolutely love it!
I also have CTS - it has done wonders not having to transcribe my fingers to the bone.

Yes, you can make awesome money editing VR; however, it depends on the platform and line rate. Personally, I have been workin on eScription's EditScript for the past 5 years and absolutely love it and can't say enough about it.

You can tend to get a little bored from time to time, just like with anything else. When that happens, I take frequent breaks to rejuvenate.

Good luck. I hope it works out for you.
Absolutely - love it. Use eScription's EditScript.
Great pay, awesome platform, and wonderful account.

Like everything else in life, you take the good with the bad. Get bored sometimes, but I make a great line rate and work for a great hospital. I will take the boredom - really can't complain.

From what I have heard, you either love VR or hate it. Personally, I love it, but I think it really does depend on the VR platform. eScription is the best VR platform out there in my humble opinion. I have worked on several and some were just downright terrible.

Yes and absolutely worth it. I love to work
outside when weather permits.  I don't do it every day because hooking up and unhooking and having to carry everything gets to be a pain, but I do it on occasion.  I also like to travel, which is why I got a laptop to start with.   It allows me to work in the car or a couple of hours a day wherever we go so there is still some income, but I also have time to enjoy time with family.
I have to agree. Absolutely prosper with it and love it! sm
I, like you, produce 2500 to 3000 lines per day and CAN pay my bills on it; however, I do make way above the average cpl on EditScript.

absolutely love discharge summaries nm

Love wav files. No extra phone line needed,
no LD charges, and love being able to sit on my porch on a nice day and work.
I've got a DX6490, 4 megapixel and absolutely love it. sm
It is so easy to use. Daughter is in the High School band, so we've taken a ton of pictures of the band kids over the past 2 years, always get compliments. So good that the band teacher just bought a Kodak for himself. Very easy to e-mail, print pictures. I have great action shots with mine. Just one tip, if you're planning on using the night-time feature, be sure to get a tripod. You really need to be steady for that. You will be very happy.
I love chihuahuas - they're absolutely adorable!

There is also a 30 day free trial and I absolutely love this expander!

What program normally plays them for you?
If you do not have a transcription module to play digital files, Express Scribe is a free program that you can download, in which you can use a foot pedal or "hot keys" to control the dictation.

Hope that helps, and good luck!
The guy who plays Sawyer on Lost!
He is so hot.
the only part HIPAA plays is you do them but you don't say anything about them to anybody. I'v
done lots and lots of medical records for people I know, at least two people from church, some family members, plenty of acquaintenances. If they know me well, they sometimes ask if I got their record. It's the same way with nursing too, or any of the other healthcare fields. When I was a volunteer paramedic, obviously I ran into neighbors and friends on the job all the time. If you're a nurse and  you run across someone you know in the ER, you don't refuse them care. You just are close-mouthed about it.
It plays in Windows Media but..
I first get a message that it is not a recognized extension.
OK, thanks. No I don't have the newest...
no msg.
