I agree. Best surgical word book!!!!! nm
.
Stedmans Med & Surgical Equip words and Tessiers Surgical Word Book (3rd Ed). I'd be lost
without them.
Stedmans Med $ Surgical Equip words, Path and Lab words, and Tessiers Surgical Word book (3rd
edition).  I never buy drug books anymore.  Waist of money in my opinion.  New drugs come out so often, it's best to use the web.
Agree. You could be a Surgical Tech or Respiratory Therapy or a Med. Tech. nm

cervical meandering gait
Cervical meandering gait
it's definitely cervical spine; otherwise it's fine

I never mentioned that I had cervical cancer
No, I made it a point not to mention that I had cervical cancer for just that reason. I had strong issues against the whole Gardasil thing long before my daugther's doctor brought it up. When I left the room for the rest of the exam, apparently the doctor was trying to talk my daughter (still a minor) into the injection. Even if she had changed her mind, I still have the final say. She has the same feelings as I do --she hears the bad side effects ect on the news/reads it on-line. I just think it should be illegal, if it isn't already for any doctor to do that. Yes, I am stressed out. I have been working like a dog for two weeks straight without any days off, but I do not like when doctors go behind my back on issues my minor childern cannot decide upon. I have been reading info on Gardasil for months now, most of it not promising. They even haulted production for a time because of side effects and sales have gone down 16% because people are starting to see the negative results. Some doctors are even coming forward and saying that it should not be mandatory. I think it should not even be on the market. Class action lawsuits are forming as I type this.
any neck pain? Sounds like a cervical spine problem. And med advice.. you nee an xray!
You might be old enough for degenerative changes, or disc space narrowing. What you are describing could definitely come from cervical spine nerve root compressions. Does the symptomatology change when you reposition your neck or adjust your posture? See somebody, that's kinda-sorta something you shouldn't be messing with.
Radical Hysterectomy for cervical cancer surgery with daVinci Robot - live Webcast. sm

Here is the link - check it out.  Pretty wild doing surgery through robotic arms.  Of  course, UNC Chapel Hill, has this great expensive robotic surgeon!   Would love to do the op reports for these surgeries.

Enjoy!

surgical terms
Why don't you invest in ref. books? Trying to do this job without them is like trying to build a house without a hammer for goodness sake. I don't understand you people - always looking for top pay and taking the cheap way out to do your job without proper tools.
Surgical Transcription

Hello.  A local surgery hosptial is hiring im my area. I've been transcribing psych and technical material for 6 years. Anyone know of good web sites for daily surgical transcription, what to expect in common surgeries and any resources for surgery brush up?

Thanks

Surgical account..
I am trying to get a local surgical account but my problem is they currenlty send their dictation overseas.  However, they are having to pay their nurses extra to edit/correct them because the finished report is of very poor quality.  Here are my questions....Does anyone know how the average of what companies pay for overseas transcription?  I don't want to sell myself short but I also don't want to work for nothing.  Do I have an advantage because I am local and will provide a "finished" correct report?  I am getting a proposal ready and want to make sure I have covered everything.  Thanks
Surgical accounts
I have two surgeons, surgical-oncology and I charge 0.12 cpl gross lines with pick up, print and deliver.  I do about 10,000 to 12,000 lines per month.  Very few procedures but lots of consults. H&P's and letters where I make my money.  Can do close to 500 lines per hour with them.
Surgical margin
"if-nas-co" surgical margin negative for tumor.  Pleural fibrovascular adhesion was mentioned just before that.  Any thoughts as to what "if-nas-co" actually is?
The Surgical Word Book
is the best!  I do almost exclusively OP notes and I couldn't do it without this book.  Steadman's is also excellent, but if you get Steadmans you will have to get two books (Equipment Words and Surgery Words).  The Surgical Word Book has both together in one book.
Surgical nursing books.

If you mean the Surgical Word Book, it's the best! nm

IMO, yes. I would love to be a surgical tech.
No money for school, nobody to make the house payment while I'm in school (if I had money to go), etc., etc.  I'll be toughing it out for 11 more years till the house is paid off.
Surgical removal of a baby????
I had that one yesterday and thought how strange to work delivery that way. If you ever work on Escription you will get a lot of laughs - it is voice recognition and I have had a ROS that said the man came in through the garage until the cat fell from the sky - have no idea what that was supposed to mean.
All different word books, surgical

A dictionary is not going to be near enough for acute care.  You're going to come across many different instruments, techniques, procedures, etc.

The "particular" factor will relate to the client's specific instructions, i.e. expanding, not expanding, symbols, most likely BOS compliant, verbatim, etc.

I just use the surgical word book. There
are three pages of bandages in there.
Buy a Stedman's Medical and Surgical
Equipment Words book. One of the best references around.
The Surgical Word Book is the Bomb for me!
It has so much in it besides surgical stuff. I then use Quick Look Drug Book, Stedman's Dictionary, and Sloane's Med Word Book. I love books but Google as well - usually double reference. And, let me not forget, the BOS2

The Surgical Word Book by Claudia Tessier (see message)
is set up like that. It is black with silver and GREEN lettering.

Love, love, LOVE this book! Good luck!
Stedman's Medical and Surgical Equipment Words is invaluable. nm
.
My extreme interest in all things medical/surgical keeps me loving it. nm
.
Also onelook.com as the Dorland's links right off there. Book would be Tessier's Surgical Word
s
Updating surgical references - new Stedmans Word Book, Tessier Surgery Book or others - best one in
nm
I would buy new a Dorland's Medical Dictionary, Stedmans Medical and Surgical Equipment...SM

and Tessier's The Surgical Word Book, 3rd edition.  Books you could buy used I would say would be Stedman's Pathology and Lab Medicine and Cardiology/Pulmonary word book.  These are all the books I use the most during my day.  You could buy other speciality word books as you need them and could probably go used with those.

I wouldn't bother with buying a drug book, new editions come out every year and I just stick to the FDA website and RXList as my drug references.

Also FYI, not a book, but I use my Stedman's Electronic Medical Dictationary a lot.  It's easier to open the program than it is to pick up a huge 30-pound dictionary.

Agree, agree, agree! Just listen to Benny Hinn..

he speaks perfect English, especially when asking for money!  Also, in my opinion, blanks should be left in the doc's dictation if not able to be transcribed, maybe then they will know that are NOT understood.  With QA fixing them, what need is there for them to care if we understand them or not?

Lots of 'em, but use a Lab Words, Sted's Ortho/Rehab Words, & Tessier's Surgical Words most
s
Medical Word Book by Sloan, Surgical Word Book by sm
Tessier, Dorland's dictionary, BOS, and my very fave I think is now out of print but called Spellright by Rice.
I agree with you....

I mean afterall there is no evidence that she is dead.  From the beginning I thought they were guilty and I still think that Joran knows something (not saying it was an intentional murder-- probably an accident)  The biggest thing that plays on my mind is why did they lie in the beginning if they were innocent.  I believe that they were covering up for something.  There have been theories that she went for a swim and drowned but there has been absolutely no trace of her.  No shoes, handbag, nothing, which leads me to believe that everything was gathered up and taken somewhere.

I feel for the family but they need to let the Arubans do their job abiding their own laws.  I know the mother has said she will stay until she finds Natalee but you can't live in Aruba forever.

I agree....

I think you have to blame Natalee herself before you blame the chaperones.  What was she thinking going in a car w/ three strangers in a foreign country???  And also, what about her friends.. what were they thinking letting her go to the bar or leaving the bar alone?  Back when we were in college and were on spring break or just bar hopping in this country..... you NEVER let your friend go off w/ some strange guys.  That is just common sense.

I agree!
It is stated above, "I wouldn't give my daughter 2 cents towards a trip to Aruba at age 18. There's only one reason to go to an island like that, to drink."

Thank you! Me either!

I feel awful for this girl and her family. I really do. But no way in Jerusalem would I have allowed my 18-year-old son OR daughter to go to Aruba (which is a colony of the Netherlands, where pot is legal and who knows if there's any regulation on alcohol).

An 18-year-old is in no way socially savvy or emotionally prepared to be turned loose in a strange place with very loose laws and be expected not to get into some kind of a situation that he/she is in no way prepared to handle.

NO WAY

I really hope they find this poor girl, but it's not looking good.
I agree - for all we know
they could have taken out a second mortage on their home to finance this "vacation".
I agree with you...
besides if I sat all day and typed an American doctor who dictated in monotone speech I'd be sleeping by 10 a.m. I look forward to the challenge of transcribing the ESL's every day..it makes our jobs more rewarding!
