GearPlayer works w/Vista
My puter died 2 weeks ago and I had to get a Vista.  I called GearPlayer the other day and they walked me through the patch they have and I have been working fine since.  I had to take myself off as Administrator though and hope that isn't a problem in the future.  Good luck; installing everything back on including my Virus software was a pain.  I don't know why Microsoft does this to us!
Which Spellchecker works with Vista?

Can anyone tell me which medical spellchecker works with Vista?  I have Stedmans, but it does not work with Vista.  Thanks

Mine works with Vista
That's what I had to do is download that codec and mine works on .dss files. That's all I get from my neurologist
Version 10 only works with Vista. You need 9 for XP.

Full Word is in the Works "Suite," not plain Works.
Works saves files in a different format, but you can open them in Word if you have the correct filter installed.
Does anyone know how or if I can get my copy of spellex....sm

off of my old computer? I was able to get a free copy when I went to the VLC about two years ago. I never bought any of the updates...just kept using the one I had downloaded for free. I have since changed to a new computer, but cant seem to get that copy off of my old computer. I was never given a disk, just info to download it. I have a couple of small accouts that I am working on, but am not really in position to buy a whole new program, especially after I just dropped major money on an Windows XP!! Any help is greatly appreciated!! Do you think it is possible the VLC would "replace" it?

spellex is good
Yeah I have used spellex for awhile and its great!!!!! As far as the pedal it really depends on your setup and software that you are using. Hopefully that helps you out :)

it is not slow, by any means. perhaps it is your computer. Word 97 is pretty much outdated by now. Anyway, I have tried Abacus as well, and Spellex gave me more lines consistently, than abacus did. but that is just my experience.
Has Anyone heard of Spellex?
Thanks for your suggestions. Does Steadman's have a free trial. I did a search on Google and came across a company called Spellex. I downloaded the free trial from there website and it seems to be great so far. I am just curious if anyone else uses it?
I had a lot of problems with Spellex on the
last update, misspelled words, etc. I currently use Stedman's.
I had trouble with Spellex when they sent

Can anyone compare Spellex to Stedman's and
tell me which they think is better and why.   I've always used Stedman's but DOS-based.  Changing jobs and now need something Windows-based.
I use Spellex Spell Checker
I have Vista and Office 2007 . I use Spellex Spell Check for Office 2007 and LOVE IT! :). You can go to there website and download a trial. I hope this helps! :)
I Would Try Spellex Spell Check
I believe you will need to purchase a new version. I had the same problem and Steadman's was not compatible with the Word 2007 version. So I did a Google search and found a company called Spellex that was compatible with Word 2007 and never thought about switching back. I think the new verison of Steadman's is compatible with Word 2007 now.

I hope this helps! :)
I Would Try Spellex Spell Check
I would try Spellex for the spell checker. I use it every day well worth every penny!!!!! I hope this helps

Doesn't DocQScribe use their word list? I remember going crazy trying to delete all the Brit and Ozzie terms. Um, hello, I work for American docs who get peeved when 'color' is spelled 'colour.'

I have used Spellex for years never had a problem with the updates
I'm sorry to hear that. To each his/her own. I have used Spellex for years never had a problem with the updates. I would encourage anyone to try out software before you buy it.
Can't you just reinstall the Spellex? If the program .exe file is on your computer you should be
able to reinstall, unless upgrading totally re-formatted your hard drive, which I presume is the case here (this is where backing up things comes in handy).  Maybe you can contact your school and ask for a new copy?  As for cheap and good, I doubt the two go hand in hand.  I use Stedman's Spellchecker and love it.  Maybe you can look on ebay and get a copy that way for not too much $.  Good luck.
Thanks for replies but does Spellex make Word lock up?
I'm having trouble with the trial version crashing the program.
I get the Stedman's and then upgrade it every year. Others prefer Spellex. nm

Spellex medical spellchecker and line count software

Does anyone use this program.  Is it any good. I have abacus right now that I have had for about 8 or 9 years and I really like it but I just upgraded to Word 2007 and I don't like the way it does the new count. It is a stand alone now instead of working inside Word and it does not seem to be as accurate and function as well.  Also I have Dorlands electronic medical spellchecker and I really like it because it will correct things automatically that I misspell and stuff and it words directly in Word but it is not compatible with Word 2007.  Does anyone have any advice on this or any software that is good and works with Word 2007?

Thanks
