I would say

about 40 or so lines per page, is that about right?  I can't say I've ever gotten 15-16 pages of a psych report, but it doesn't entirely surprise me.  I've gotten some as much as 8-9 pages, but those were just inpatient notes, so I can see where that's possible.  As for the pay, I don't know what psych transcriptionists run, but 5 to 6 cents is pretty low.  For training, I might accept that, especially with no experience.  You'd have to consider how many reports you can do in a day, too, since a 15-16 page report is likely to run you a good hour or more of dictation (depending on how fast they run their mouths!), which will probably take you at least double that, to start.  The good news is, psychiatry is pretty easy, not too many difficult terms and once you get the psychiatric medications down, you should do okay.  Best of luck, whichever way you decide!
