Wrenching on injured muscles
Chiropractic care is an art and part of the process is finding the truly gifted chiropractor. Wrenching on torn or injured muscles is not good medicine. Chiroractors do have their place but one has to tread carefully on this turf. Money grubbers exist in all fields.
Sciatica - small knots in calf muscles?

Sorry to keep asking sciatica questions but I am in terrible pain!  Did anyone have small knots in their calf muscles, probably from the spasms pulling so hard on them?  They are about the size of a fingertip.  I felt a snap in that area when I was stretching last night, but it didn't hurt all that much, probably because my calf is relatively numb.

Does this sound like it could be a little snapped peice of muscle or do I have a tumor?  (Always reminds me of Arnold in Kindergarten Cop "It's not a tumah"

When your neck muscles are strained, it traps the occipital nerve.
I am with you on the "I can't get rid of it, and it kills me." Do some research on peripheral stimulators. They implant them in the occipital region. They stimulate the area with electricity that overrides the pain with a pleasant paresthesia. Plain English: It is like having a G-spot in your head; it feels so good. Another theory is that it changes the ions in the cells. As posted, I am anxiously awaiting mine to be reimplanted. You control the stimulator with a device to stimulate the strength and pulse width needed to cover the pain. It is fabulous!!!!!! Beats pain pills, which I am so sick of now.
Try Benadryl
Benadryl is the ingredient in Tylenol PM. I take two 25 mg capsules about an hour before I am ready to go to sleep. This really helps. It is safe and inexpensive. Sometimes if I have been transcribing right before I go to bed, I have a hard time shuting the brain off too. I hate it when I dream about transcribing.
Mallox & Benadryl
Doctor told me today to use this.
4 teasppons maalox and 1 tsp.benadryl. Swish and swallow. For my sore throat and tongue..
Will di it tonight/
Hope it works for us both.

Do you by any chance use Benadryl or
anything containing diphenhydramine?  I don't have RLS, but when I use the above to help me sleep I have it really bad.  Just in case you do use it, I thought I'd let you know.  Good luck!
Get some liquid Benadryl in him quickly and
People can develop allgeries suddenly and for no apparent reason and it's much easier to deal with when you have your senses about you than wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of his gasping for air!
No rx needed, they are OTC. Benadryl is for allergies but (sm)
it is also the same ingredient that is in many of the OTC sleep meds.

Actually Valerian root and melatonin might be a very good combination. I have tried them each individually but not together. I might try that!
or just pop a Benadryl if you've accidentally over-caffeinated. ;)
nm
I use melatonin, Benadryl and white noise (sm)
I have a very tough time with insomnia. I take 6 mg of melatonin and 25 mg of Benadryl an hour before I want to go to sleep and run a fan every night. Sometimes I get six straight hours of sleep and on those nights I consider myself lucky! If I get up at night to use the restroom I don't turn on the lights so that I can get back to sleep more easily. FYI I have been taking the melatonin and Benadryl for about a year, recently had lab work done and my LFTs were good.
It's Maalox and Benadryl, equal parts, swish and swallow. nm

I saw HOWIE last night on a late night episode of Blind Date. too funny.
I'm thinking if they are smart they'll boot Rachel.  I think she's really smart and a good player.  I don't think Howie is all that smart or able to be a winner.  I think this could force Howie to hook up with James to go for the final 2.
relax......
black has always been my color, even at 37. i wasnt as loyal as your daughter, but i turned out alright. let her express who she is. or you might just ruin it for her.

but dont forget, with kids, there's a chain there you might have to jerk every now and then lol. i still jerk my son's chain once in a while, but he tells his friends he got a cool mom. lol good luck
Relax!
First of all - relax. As I stated, it is just something that piqued my interest and thought I would look into. No, I don't think fast typing is all it takes so try to stop being so insulted by your interpretation of my post. I posted on this board because it seemed like a good forum and I'm curious.

I wouldn't be doing MT to make a living, as I also stated. Just to make some extra cash. I understand that you may be a tad ruffled by someone who works in the computer industry since you are afraid technology is going to make your job expendable, but please don't take that out on me.

Obviously I am not sure if this is a viable option for me otherwise I wouldn't be posting for experienced MT suggestions to begin with now would I? I did not mean to insult or offend anyone by looking into a part time job that I could do from home even though I already have a great career.
relax, and 1st of all,
remember that your liaison is there to help you!! TALK to him/her when you are having a problem.

Most always when you go back into the same WT, the same report WILL come back to you. Even if it does not, ignore the demographics and go to the text box, and hit Alt-R. it will, like previous poster said, restore it all. If you don't have the right sound file, x out of it, and from your text box, hit alt-H to restore correct sound file.

keep a copy of window commands and hot key commands close at hand.

my suggestion also, is that when making bold/expanders, use an identifier for the bold, ie bsubjective or bsub or subjb. then later when you are maybe doing a secondary account that does not use the bold headers, you won't have to re-do your Expanders for that account.

i too came from DQS and after this stuff became second hand, now i love bayscribe.

feel free to e/m me too.
MQx4 you need to just relax

I don't understand either.  If I recall, and these posts don't lie, there are many offensive posts made here this morning.  Why then, is just Barney being attacked and being accused of being Zipper or whoever.

MQx4 just needs to leave well enough alone.

Question for MQx4 - why on earth did you accuse Barney of being those posters from the other day?  I guess perhaps since I might tend to be a bit offenssive in this post that I am Zipper or whoever, right?  Please, you are the one that has gone overboard here.

relax, have some cholcolate
I was watching Larry King live about a week ago and there was a doctor on who said dark chocolate has as much antioxidants as green tea and 1 glass of red wine-- so have some chocolate it does the body good
Oh Susanna, just relax
O
relax! just don't read what you don't want!
!
Relax - it is a phase and really doesn't mean anything.
My daughter is her own person and does not care to fit into a crowd. She just started wearing jeans this year - was always in sweat pants and a sweat shirt - the athletic type. So, it is good for her to not want to be in "the in crowd" so to speak. Black is okay as long it is not that "gothic look" as what the kids call it!

He's using the puter to relax & de-stress, same as you. - nm

relax, it just the MT-Kikki-gang

buh-bye

Take a deep breath and relax!!!!!
You are feeling what every MT feels, newbie, experienced or old-timer. I have been doing MT for 8 years and still crack myself up with some of the mistakes I make. The fact that you are rereading and finding your mistakes is good. In time you will start to not make as many mistakes and your speed will improve. Quality over quanitity was what I was always told. Unless you are working for a company that is pushing you for turnaround time, just relax and you will be fine. If you are working for a company that is pushing for turnaround time and not as worried about quality, I would begin looking for a better company. MTs need time to build their skill and no company can expect you to know everything in only two years of experience.

Heck, in my 8 years, I still look things up, read, re-read and still sometimes have to leave a blank or ask the doc for clarification. That does not make me a bad MI but in most cases a better MT because in this business, we can not afford to guess what the answer is.

God Bless.
I would still have to work, but I would ease up on it and relax for a change.

In all due respect, some of you MTs need to relax and chill on these issues of "cherry pickers
VR or Indian MTs. I have been in this business for over 25 years now, and this is the very nature of this business.  Work is always pooled around according to WHO is doing the pooling.  If you're an MT who always helps out cheerfully, always willing to give help where needed, sure, you're probably gonna get rewarded by having some sweet dictators routed to your pool.  If you're the pooler and your friend is the recipient, you're probably gonna tend to give your friend some cake dictators.  If, on the other hand, you're pooling work, and there's a cranky, whining, complaining MT, you're probably gonna just happen to send her some of those wonderful marble-mouthed dictators. There is ALWAYS someone at the start of the process, doling out the work to someone -directing it where THEY want it to go for whatever reason.  Same thing in the old days of tapes - tapes were handed out according to whoever was handing them out! Then C-phones, and work would be diverted to your "line", and now the internet.  I don't know if you are all new to the field, or just forgetful, but this is the nature of the industry.  So many are so paranoid and blaming cherry pickers, Indians, or who knows!  Most cherry pickers don't even have to cherry pick. The GOOD work goes to the GOOD workers.  Its simple.  So, be nice, have a good attitude, and do your job.  You're far more likely to get good dictators that way then dreaming up conspiracy theories or looking to blame the invisible cherry pickers.  You can look to those over you in authority, and really should perhaps put a little reflection on WHY you are getting the garbage over and over.  It sure can't hurt to try to look at it another way, cause its really not all as complex and complicated to figure out as you would like! Look to yourselves before always, always blaming those cherry picking Indian VR MTs!  Start tomorrow with a NEW attitude. Or, if its too late at your job, maybe start fresh somewhere else! I doubt it would hurt, and you sure might find yourselves with a new attitude and on the receiving end of some good reports!
so maybe you should kick back and watch some tv as you relax and drift off in your lazyboy.
you'll hate yourself in the morning when you read your crazya$$ posts.
This sounds like my kind of relationship! No great expectations and you can relax
I always have a fear of disappointing people. It has caused me to isolate myself...
My hands get cold, and typing with cold muscles is like (sm)
running or other exercise when not warmed up. I wear thin, warm gloves with the fingertips cut out to keep my hands & knuckles warm. For muscle pains in the shoulders, neck, biceps, etc, try Flexall cream - I find it to be VERY effective. Also try slight changes in chair height, keyboard height and angle, and monitor height. I found if I enlarge the print on my screen, it keeps me from hunching forward to try to read it. (CTL + scroll up or down on mouse wheel to make print bigger or smaller. It will not affect the size of the finished product.) Frequent "mini-breaks" to do other chores: filing etc. if in an office, quick household task if working at home, also helps relieve repetitive stress. A few months ago I thought my typing days were numbered due to various pains & arthritis; now I can work pain-free for up to 11 hours in a day. Good luck! :)
It's taco night! (again.....) We had taco pizza last night, southwestern chicken soup before th
Maybe I'll just have a salad.
Myrtle Beach has my vote. No passports, no airports, customs... Just kick back & relax!! My vote!!

OJ is what helps me
I think it is the sugar in the juice because no one tells you that smoking digests food quicker (read that somewhere) so it will take longer for a person who stopped smoking to feel better after eating... So when I feel low I drink some juice... hope this helps
Thank you so much - yes that helps! nm

If this helps,
My Stedman's spell check accepts antiinflammatory.  I read somewhere that we are we are not supposed to hyphenate unless the nonhyphenated word form is another separate word.  I do not remember the examples they gave, but it did make sense.
What helps me...

Yes, that helps, thanks.

Not sure if this helps

Perhaps they gave you a generic contract or info sheet, you need to ask if you are to print and return or send back and they print.  Also call in services charge per minute of dictation anywhere from 0.18 to 0.10 per minute of dictation.  So more than how many lines, you need to know minute as if they are stuttering a lot or going through a chart and not dictating you will be charged for the minutes that they use whether dictating or not.  What city/state are you in, will you be contracting out, and again find out if you have to print or they print.  Sometimes the contracts that they send our are generic and do not specify which services you will be providing and you need to clarify that.   So you need to ask a few more questions, also see if they deduct or penalize if you do not meet your TAT.   But without know the above, to me it would be like throwing a dart at a dart board trying to make a bullseye.

Thanks, that helps!!

This helps me........sm
I get up and wrap my arms around myself in a big bear hug as tight as I can to stretch out the back muscles. I bend over and let my arms dangle until my fingers eventually touch the ground, if you're one like me who cannot flat palm the floor with straight legs (my MIL at 70 could!). This really stretches out everything. I get a lot of relief in the neck by doing chin tucks to the chest and relaxing there for a couple of minutes.

This is a trick a PT told me...while sitting in a chair with your legs a foot or so apart, bend over with your arms inside the leg area and grab for the floor...this really stretches out the upper back.

I know what you mean though -my muscles will burn in my arms and shoot pains through to my hands. Hope this helps!
That helps a lot.
Thank you so much.
yes it helps a lot --

but do you plug Lanier into a phone line? I am not familiar with Lanier.

Not that it helps but...
Not sure if this is being used in word? However and FYI for those who might need it, if you type LEE and it expands, do ALT E and enter, which is for unedit and it will return to the abbreviated text.
yes, that helps

That seems like it would be very time consuming!  I'm using a pedal now and can't imagine controlling my dictations without it.  Doesn't that take away from a lot of typing time?

what helps me
Black-out drapes purchased at K-mart and a black sleep mask ($3 from a catalog) have been a tremendous help in getting/staying asleep when you have to sleep during the day.
Hopefully this helps! (sm)
Turn on or off automatic bulleted or numbered lists:

On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
Under Apply as you type, select or clear the Automatic bulleted lists or Automatic numbered lists check box.

This is a VA account? The VA pretty much expects contractors to pay their workers. If you're not working for this woman any longer, you might try complaining to the facility that you have not been paid. Try calling purchasing and contracting, as well as the chief of HIM. You can get the main phone numbers on the VA website--just Google it.
