Instant Text, over 19,800 entries, adding all the time,
and I don't have to remember because the IT is at the bottom of my screen for as many lines as I like, I have 3 showing.
Auto Text entries

The file should be located here:

c:documents and settings<your name>application datamicrosoft emplates

There are a couple of other "critical" files that you should also back up. One is CUSTOM.DIC - (this is your dictionary)
c:documents and settings<your name>application datamicrosoftproof

and the other is MSO1033.acl (AutoCorrect entries)
c:documents and settings<your name>application datamicrosoftoffice

Auto text entries are saved to the template.
Open a document (even a new, blank one). Click on Tools, Templates and Add-in. Click on the box at the bottom, Organizer. Choose the Auto Text tab. If the AT entires you're looking for are shown, make note of the template that they're attached to (in most cases, this will be Normal). If you want them to be copied to a new template, simply choose that template in the opposite box and copy any or all entries that you want to copy.
Auto Text entries on word. Is there a way to copy these or print these? Thanks in advance. NM

My autotext entries are gone!!!!

I use a program called iType.  When I add an autotext entry it is there until I shut down and open program again.  I know that I have to add autotext entries outside of the actual iType program - I open word and add them there but they are being deleted somehow.  Any help would be appreciated.  Oh, I use Word 2003.

Thank you.

Someone please tell me how my autotext entries
could just VANISH overnight?  This has not been a good day.
Lost autotext entries
Look in your recyle bin. That happened to me once and I found them in my recyle bin. I was not real good about keeping mine backed up either and I sure was glad to find them in the recyle bin!
Are you sure you're using Auto Text and not Auto Correct?
Auto Text accompanies the template, as I stated before. The Auto Correct entries are in a separate file with the .acl extension.
Transferring Auto Correct/Auto Text

I work in Word currently and have a large number of AC/AT entries.  I am moving to a platform that has Instant Text or Shorthand.  Is it possible to transfer these entries as a file somehow, or am I going to have to enter by hand?  Also any comments welcome regarding the ease of use, etc of Instant Text versus Shorthand.

Thanks

You might try putting some of your longer entries in AutoText

I agree, I love AutoCorrect. I use ShortKeys for clients that have a word processing platform that does not include AutoCorrect. ShortKeys is good, but it has a few glitches.

Everyone seems to love ShortHand. If someone can tell me how to use ShortHand the same way you do AutoCorrect (without having to use Alt or Ctrl or other keys which take your hand off the main part of the keyboard), I would really appreciate it. I tried ShortHand but I couldn't get it to work that way.

AutoText and formatted AutoCorrect entries are
saved in the normal.dot file. Unformatted AutoCorrect entries are saved in the .acl file.
Auto test entries
Does anybody know how to "save" one's own private auto text entries (within Microsoft Word) and also how to later print-out this file?  Thanks in advance!
AUTO "TEXT" ENTRIES
Sorry, I asked about auto "test"......I ment auto TEXT
I have lost my entries in autotext. Does anyone know if I can bring them back? - sm
I know this has been asked before but could not find in the archives.  Thanks in advance for your help.
Is it possible to save my autotext entries in Emdat Inscribe
and copy them to Shorthand?  I have so many of them saved in Emdat's autotext and I would hate to have to re-type them into Shorthand.  Is this even possible?  Thanks for any input on this!!
Smarttype - Adding a text file list?

Is it possible to add a text file word/phrase list to Smartype? If so, how do you do this?

Thanks!

Instant Text is best by far and it will import your AC entries.
xx
Instant Text can import your SH entries. nm
nm
Instant Text can import your SH entries so you can continue
to use those shortcuts you are used to. IT can also import AutoCorrect and AutoText.

I used SH for a whole lot of years and switched to IT and have never looked back!
auto text, auto text auto text - I also have ...
a couple of doctor accounts that pay me "off the books" and it's less than $800/month so that helps out a great deal.

I autotext every report until I build each doctor up to a "normal" text format. if you want more info - email me at dcr468@aol.com. I am always hesitant about writing the name of companies on this board because of the serious bashing that goes on.

Instant Text, AutoText, and Bayscribe

Why not import your AutoText list into Instant Text , link IT to Bayscribe use all your shortcuts coming from Instant Text?

How to print a list of Instant Text Glossary Entries
Any help appreciated.. thanks!
Bayscribe expander entries/Instant Text question ...
Has anyone here had success in converting their Bayscribe Expander entries to Instant Text? If so, how did you go about it.

Thanks in advance.
Instant Text creates entries and the short forms from
previously saved documents. You run a compile on the reports and it picks up the most frequent words and phrases. Go to their site and click on the overview link to see how it works.
Auto Text thanx for helping :)

Inscribe/auto Text
I would like to print out my expansions in Auto Text, Inscribe. I am needing to make changes and clean it up and for me it would be easier to make the changes on paper and then go and do the changes.
Any ideas?
auto text has shut off
i was deleting some entries in my auto text and now when i am typing, they aren't coming on...i must have shut them off and i can't figure out to turn it on again.
MS Word Auto Text

I had inputed a bunch of my own "text expantion" into MS Word Auto Text and went in to work today and they are all gone.  It is not the first time this has happened, and then you have to go and input back everything, which is a pain.

Has anyone else experienced this or know why it happens??

instant text suggestion.

Since you already have the disk, maybe if you call the company for IT they will sell you one.  Worth a try.  I have found them to be very helpful.

Word expanders vs Auto text

What is the difference between Word Expanders and Auto text?  Are they the same thing?

Thanks!

Word expanders vs Auto text
Thank you!
Tks so much. What is auto text/where do I find it? This sounds so
.
Emdat Inscribe Auto text

New to Inscribe and when I try to expand my word in auto text the cursor jumps to the next line.  Even did this when I tried a key other than the enter key.  Also have Instant text(older version, Instant Text III Pro, but seems to be taking a long time to get used to.  Any thoughts on these two expanders, which is better to use?  Thank you

MS Word 2003 auto text

I use Word 2003 with the platform that my company uses.  I am able to save autocorrect entries, but whenever I save an autotext entry it is gone the next time I open Word.  Is there some Word option I need to click that will enable my entries to be saved?  It would save me so much time if this feature worked.

If you set the default font then you don't have to keep switching for autotext or Instant Text.
Both entries will slip right in with the right font. You should really use templates if you switch a lot so you aren't constantly changing it.
Auto Text too full-slow MS Word
Has anyone experienced having their Auto Text in MS Word so full that it slows down getting into and out of MS Word Program?  This seems to be the problem, because when I accidentally deleted my "Auto Text" entries, my Word program worked fast again.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Need to make sure your AutoCorrect/Auto Text functions
s
open a word document, under help type in auto text--sm
and you can learn how to create, save, delete, edit entries.
Can you use the Word autocorrects or only Smartype? What about the Word auto text? tia nm

EXACTLY! Thank you for adding.

And that is without adding in the
Ouch, ooch, eech, (walking out to grab the paper off the step this morning).
And adding to that. ..
What happens when the company runs low on work, which is known to happen.  There is nothing in the contract about the "penalty/incentive" does not apply.
Nothing about MQ is adding up anymore.

adding my 2 cents
It can be done, as I have been in your shoes as well. It will be tough without family close by, but thank goodness you have a job that can keep you close to your children. When I did it my job was 12 hours a day. Just wanted you to know that you have support here, and by the looks of it you have alot of it. You and your children are in my thoughts.
lol.. thank you for adding humor to my otherwise

Keep adding to that expander SM
Just backing you guys up. I'll never have those quick fingers either (nv hv tos qk fgs eir), just not in me, but by continually creating and memorizing abbreviations, I transcribe fairly challenging acute care hospital work somewhere between 330-340 lph--including short breaks for coffee refills and so on. It wouldn't add up to 3000 over 8 hours (most of my work is actually editing these days), but could be if I were doing work I could make more templates for, clinic for instance. Zero stress, BTW.
Adding Expansions

I was wondering how you build your expansion list, meaning, about how many words do you put in day?  A few, 20, 50?  And do you review them daily so you know what you have?  I tend to create them and then forget I have them and then do not use them.  What are you tips?  Thanks in advance!

Did you try leaving the .09 and adding .09.vox? nm

Are you getting paid for adding the
demographics, such as the patient's name, the medical record number, the dictator's name, two spaces instead of one at the end of a senstence. Is the space included in your line count? Some companies are now paying by the character only. Unfortunately, a lot of these things we used to get paid for have been taken away, thus you need to work a lot harder for the same amount of money. Try to master the more difficult dictators, and once you do, then ask for a higher rate.
just adding my 2 cents; not sure where you have
worked with 'Indians' to have such a negative viewpoint, but my experience was pleasant and the people I knew from India were polite, quiet, respectful but probably mistrusting of Americans I supposed. Most everyone is India gets a college education, not like here. Even on the phone from call answering centers, the 'Indians' I have spoken with for the most part are very soft-spoken and polite.

They were given an opportunity and are taking it and making the most of it and for that I don't blame them. It is our American companies that sought them out and went over there and started these transcription companies, yes?
