Toll-free call-in system

Posted By: Merry Christmas on 2007-12-21

I have 3 doctors that I am going to be taking on as clients of my own.  One is going to be using a recorder, the other 2 are still wanting to use a call-in line for their dictation.  They will not be dictating a large amount just a couple times a week.  Does anyone have any suggestions for a service that provides a toll-free call-in line for a decent price?  I am thinking about mydocsonline for my doc that will be using a recorder.

Thanks in advance and Merry X-Mas to you all!

Toll Free Call In for only 8 cents per minute!

You're misunderstanding how toll free call in
services work.  You can't just get some long distance service at 3 cents a minute. Where are the doctors supposed to leave their dictation?  We have software that answers, prompts for the dictator ID and password, then keypad functions the doctor uses to leave their dictation.  Then, those dictated files are provided to the transcription service via FTP.  So, our service, at 9 cents per minute is the cheapest on the market offering these features and we do not require a large amount of minutes per month like other toll free call in services do.

We're not a transcription service. We offer toll free call in dictation
service at rock bottom prices. I was only offering you an alternative without having to put out a lot of money by buying handheld units.

Call-in system
I have an internet based digital call in system with 4 ports.  It is very simple to use. The doctor calls in and then the work is on the server, you load it with Express Scribe and do your work........If you want another transcriptionist to get work, then you just put in their e-mail address along with your doctor's key and it will automatically forward to the transcriptionist, while you still have a copy of the voice file to be able to double check the work.   I bought mine through RT King.
To sm, don't do it! Someone will call you and ask why you are off the system!

don't you also need the call in system with this? nm

call-in system
How many clients do you have? IOW, how many doctors would be calling in at any given time? If you just need a one-line call-in unit, Philips makes a decent one that is relatively inexpensive, as call-in systems go. Only one doc can call in at a time, though. If you need something bigger than that, maybe look at Straight Talk. Sometimes you can even find those on Ebay

Thank you! It will be approx 8 physical therapists calling in at one time. Thank you for your input.
call in system

Hi,

I use Idigital call in system from transcriptiongear.com.  Very reasonable and you can buy packages which charge less for more minutes that are used.  So, you have to estimate the first month, then can purchase different packages depending on your need.  My docs love it.

call in system

Does anyone out there use a call-in system where the docs can just dictate right to your computer.  If so, please answer in my email, as I can never find the messages I post again.  scribes@sbcglobal.net.

Thank you for your help.

Call In System
Hi there, we used idigital when we first got started and then bought our own system. We bought the wrong one and got horribly burned until we found the right solution. Drop me a line if you'd like to talk on the phone so I can explain all the ins and outs.

Call in dictation system

I have a digital call in dictation system that is less than 2 years old that has given me nothing but problems from day one.  It has already blown 2 speech boards and a new one has to be put in.  I purchased an insurance policy for it but the company is giving me a large hassle.  I currently have a loaner system that is also acting up.  I was wondering if anyone can recommend any Internet-based call in systems that doctors could use by calling in on an 800 number and something that is easy to use and maintenance free from my end.  I have always used a computer based call in system but it is very expensive to maintain with phone lines, etc.  I am looking to get something fast that I can have set up as a backup in case my loaner also breaks down.  I am a novice as far as Internet systems go.  Thanks for any help or information about a company that you could recommend.

help in picking call in system..help please..sm

My sister and I are expanding as the clinics are adding more dictators.  We were using Straight Talk, but this is limited to two dictators and one remote MT.  We need to go for more lines now.  We are trying to find the easiest system to use that is also very VERY reasonably priced as we do not have a lot of money to put out right now.  Would like suggests from anyone that has used different systems as to how many can call in, and how many can transcribe simultanesously and what the unit is called, pricing, that type of information.  We need to do this, but need to make an informed decision, rational, not just jump in. Need something that will be more useful than these were for about 1 year...now looking again...

Any suggests greatly appreciated

I'd call the owner of the system (sm)
I think it depends on how the system you are dialing into is set up.
Digital Call In System

I have one doctor who wants to come on and go to a digital call in system.    Does any one have any suggestions for an economical system to use?

Looking to Use/Buy Space on Your Call-In System

I have a MT service and have only a few small clients who do call-in dictation (most use handheld digital) I am looking to use space on someone else's call system and either:  Pay for that  -  OR  -  Do a trade in terms of TX or QA work. 16 years in MT as transcriptionist, QA and business owner.

If you are interested, message me here and/or leave your contact info. Thank you,

David

Depends on the call-in system
VDI is 34 to slow down and 36 to speed up. Every system is slightly different. You will need to contact whoever you work for to go into the keypad menu or manual. Good luck
They are probably looking for a call-in digital dictation system or
if they have one in their office, a ld service for you to call in and get the dictation.

I certainly would ask and clarify what exactly they are looking for and what they want.

Good luck!
Actually, with a call to Microsoft, the OS--operating system-- SM
Can be reinstalled on the same computer, in the event of a crash or need to reinstall because of a crash or just cleaning up the computer by reinstalling the OS, or the change to a new motherboard or hard drive, etc. I'm not too knowledgeable on this, but on other IT web sites IT professionals routinely re-install for a fresh system and they CALL the Microsoft # for reauthorization. At least on XP. Which is the way it should be. If my computer crashes, it is still the same computer and the same OS I paid hundreds of dollars for in some cases, so yes, you can install on the same computer. THere would be a mutiny off Windows if you could not. ANd they know this. They ran into this with Vista and had to back down. Computer professionals routinely re-install for a fresh system or when a computer has difficulties.

Don't correct my mistakes on grammar and caps, i didn't proof.
Small MTSOs using call-in system....sm
What is your usual mode of delivery?   Email? FTP?  Or something else?  Any information would be great!  TIA
Cheap and easy call in system? - sm

I have one account not through my MTSO that still uses microcassette tapes. It is 1 doctor (who's near retirement age, not quite yet but he's no spring chicken!) and dictates literally about 200 lines or less per day, often much less. But his office manager would like to get him to do digital files where I don't have to print and deliver. But I look at call in systems (if that's even the right thing?) and there several thousand dollars! I told the O.M. I'd help and see how doc's dictate to wav files and the whole FTP system works. I guess I don't even know if that's what he needs or if there's something relatively inexpensive to dictate to, that I can grab off the internet and send back electronically.

Any direction would help...I don't mind doing the research, I just don't even know what direction I'm going. Thanks so much!

How to bill client for call-in system....

Do you charge slightly more per line if the client is using your call-in system (versus other less expensive methods like digital recorder) or do you just bill them the amount of the phone bill?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Digital Recorder versus Call-in system

I have a friend from church who is a physical therapist and she still uses the tape recorders for dictation (about 10-15 therapists).  I would like to try to obtain their transcription account and offer them a better way to dictate.  I currently have 1 account of my own who uses an Olympus digital recorder and I also work for a company that uses a call-in system.  Does anyone know anything about a call-in system, such as obtaining it for a business? Or do you think it would be cheaper in the long run to offer the digital recorders to each of the dictating therapists in return for their dictation?  Any suggestions would be helpful.

Instead of a call-in system, why not use a handheld digital recorder?
The sound quality is much better, the recorders are very affordable and you can use FTP to transfer files both directions.
Will you have to pick up tapes, provide a call-in system
print and deliver. Take everything into consideration before submitting your rate to your client. Ask the doctor for a sample report so you can see the font size and line length if you are going to charge a gross line rate. If you charge per 65-character count, the font size and characters per line will not matter. I personally think 11 cents is low unless you are charging for blank lines.
Auto backup has to be fixed through the call-in system

Go under keypad menu, and then fix the auto backup space or through the Transcriptionist ID settings on the setup. Also, the dictation system should have a separate code/key for larger rewind to hit.

Hope that helps!

recommend adware, free, but if you can do a system RESTORE, it is much, much easier than battling it
i used to spend days trying to get crap off my computer. learned to back up to system restore from a few days prior to when i noticed everything happening and works like magic!! so much of an easier solution. but several tech support have told me adware and i run it weekly.
Is a C-phone like Bytescribe call-in system or Philips digital transcription
My 2 stations don't have the actual phone piece, but I can make calls to the place where I get work.  I'm just curious because I want to take a test that requires C-phone, and I'm not sure if my stations will work or not.  If anyone can give me some background or information on this, I would appreciate it.  Thank you.
I have a call in system and also use tapes. We send completed reports via encrypted email.
I use MPCount, which is a free line counting program that you can download and it works great.
VDI call-in system sounds much better than digital recorders and easier tracking with redundant hard
You can hear a pin drop on this system. The sound is that clear. The system has a redundant hard drive and auditing capabilities. It has the capability to do everything but transcribe it. The better the sound file, the faster you can transcribe. I purchased a call-in system that used digital recorders, and the sound was so bad that I ordered this one the same day. I wasted $1200 on that system. Get the analog that uses a VDI SuperStation or C-phone (the C-phone is more clear). Even though the technology is not as new as the digital recorders, in this case it is better. Good luck!

death toll
That is 53 confirmed deaths so far....Lord knows what the count will be when the water subsides, so it may be close to comparison with the Tsunami, I pray not.
it does take a toll on earnings...
I agree about the rates for VR. It can take a while to fix a botched report and in some cases I have to fix them by typing in the corrections, but still only getting paid half the rate. I used the Edit Script platform, which is awesome, but the company I work for is heavily supported by ESL docs, so it is a challenge. I do, however, use the IT Expander and get free lines from templates.

My solution was to also work for a second company that uses the same platform, but is mostly American docs and has a higher percentage of typing rather than editing, about 60/40 (40 typing). My first company is around 80/20 (only 20% typing). I agree with another poster who said that you have to find the combination that will work for you and increase your pay. She is right because for me, the second company is a smaller company and I will make more money with them. I like the other company also because they will give me experience with ESLs, but I will earn less money. I do the smaller company full time so I can eventually get the benefits and the larger company with the ESLs part time. Now I am receiving 2 paychecks, but working extremely long hours. I feel it will balance out with time. I have flexible schedules with both and can usually take off anytime I choose, which I feel are the perks of being an MT. It is hard to have this situation with a traditional job, so I take the good with the bad. I am new to this field and want to stay optimistic about my future with MTing.

Abacus is not free. It is $20 but worth it. You can download a trial version free which does not h
I have used this for years and have compared to Sylvan, Word, and MP Count, etc. When you have it set to count every character, bold, shift, tab, etc. It is great and always higher than the others. Now if you are wanting gross lines like in Word then no it won't be as high because Word counts blanks lines and Abacus counts a line only if there is a character on it. There is also two places to check for it to count the Headers/Footers. If you have the FREE version then it must be the trial or a very old version so you don't have all the features and functions.
Free? As in, free trial? Otherwise, I don't think you'll find a spellcheck software that's

got the "phone call" -- get this, MQ has hired a bunch of telemarketers to call all of us to

we received our "incentive packet."  They don't even have the wherewithall to contact us personally.   These are temp-agency hired telemarketers sitting around a boiler room making sure we're reading our mail.... told him it don't pertain to me because I've been demoted from FT to SE.... He said, "yes, the letter is vague, but it does pertain to FT as well as SE...." yeah right, we'll see.

If they don't call you within 15 minutes, you should call them. There
is no excuse for leaving you sitting by a phone all day. At the very least, an e-mail explaining why the delay. If this is the way they train, how do they pay. Do you really want to work for a company who thinks so little of your time?
