how it is possible

The ES software is great. After about 60 dictations the software will recognize the dictator only if it feels it is pretty accurate and it will create a report for that dictator. MTs are trained to all follow the same style. As you press the foot pedal a red box around the words goes along with the dictation. When you see an error you need to change, you lift your foot off the pedal and using several shortcut keys and typing if needed you correct the errors. The software will recognize your changes and remember them. So, as time goes by the report it creates for that dictator will have less and less errors for you to fix but there will always be some. Doing ES you are almost mousefree. There will probably be 80% recognized and 20% that you have to type normally because there are always new dictators the system has not recognized and some it may never recognize. Some people do 650 lines a hour, but most between 350 and 650 and some much more. Most, not all, editors get paid by line count, different for the edit and ones you type. To me it is a kind of tense feeling doing the editing. You have to listen to the dictator, stop at errors, keep in mind all the key shortcuts you have to use, and your hands are all over the keyboard. I am sure with time this will get easier. Also with so many MTs doubling or more their line counts, there is not enough work and we run out and we are facing layoffs in the next few weeks, only months after starting ES. It is a great system though and there is a lot of support from ES with a website that tells you what shortcuts you are not using, how to increase those, and an open forum where all ES editors can talk and you can get helpful hints from them. It is the lastest in MT and a great career opportunity.
