Marmann - what a great post
Well thought out and worded very well. I hoped for so much from someone who hadn't been in the DC crowd for years and years, but each day am disappointed more and more. I enjoyed the fresh ideas he presented. But, everything has changed from the campaign. It's heartbreaking to see our country headed the same way Germany was with WWII, being run by the same kind of leader.

I do believe you and are I starting to agree on many issues. For me, when I voted for the O I had hoped that things would finally turn around for our country. But slowly any "hope" he offered kept dwindling away. There is no reason to hope anymore because it's just getting worse. He's kept his promise of "change", but he portrayed change for the good, and as we're waking up we are realizing, this is not change for the good. It's getting worse. But he does have quite a way with the words and still makes some people feel good about getting "screwed". But I do not blame the O. He is simply a puppet for the people who are really running the country. He is just a "bearer of bad news". Unfortunately he will be the "fall guy". My best guess is if things keep going this way, he will be a one-term failed present just like J. Carter and Bush Sr. That is of course if they don't change the laws and he be allowed to stay in for 3, 4, 5 or more terms. Don't think they would do it? Well we never thought the constitution would be changed either.
Great post, great insight, great analysis, thanks!..nm

This is a great article, Marmann........ sm
Thanks for posting it.

Way back when the primary caucuses started, I mentioned Chuck Baldwin on this board but I don't think there was a single reply, good or bad, to my post. I wish he had had a little more exposure during the campaigns and was on the ticket in all states. He was not on the ticket in Texas.

To be honest, I really believe that the reason there is so much noise being made about Obama and none about what Bush has done while in office is that most people, myself included, are not aware of all the intricacies of the US Constitution. It is a very intricate document and most American people are only aware of what they had been taught in high-school or college civics classes and not tne entire document along with the US Code which is the law that helps fill in the spaces and further explain the Constitution. Even if there was an awareness on the part of the majority of the people, most would have been reluctant to bring any law suits against Bush due to the fact that we are (were) mired in Iraq and facing challenges on our homefront as well. Bush managed to get us through 9/11 in a way that made us all feel safe. While things might have gone kind of downhill after that with his administration, most people likely did not want to rock the boat and risk showing America as being weakened by the impeachment of her President. This is not said to excuse Bush's actions but just rather to explain how this American feels about the whole situation, and I doubt I am really alone in my feelings.

Now that a precident has been set with the Obama B/C situation, Americans seem to have awakened and started paying more attention to what is going on in our government and researching and finding out what the Constitution really says and not just what the media tells us. Maybe in 2012, Baldwin (or another Constitutional Party nominee) will step up to the plate and campaign more aggressively and win the presidency. It's time someone started running this country the way it was intended to be run.
great post
Im amazed at how much debate I have caused on both boards, LOL!  I have become *the* poster to be talked about, attacked, compared to.  Thank you for your refreshing post replying to IMHO a mean spirited obviously very troubled conservative poster.  This person has been on my case since day one, along with her two cohorts.  Frankly, from what I can see, they are just about the only ones who consistently post on the conservative board.  I guess others after a while get tired of the attack mode or just give up trying to debate logically and intelligently.  They say Im a lunatic and certifiable.  By reading their nasty posts, If anyone is certifiable, they are.  They say they are Christian.  Not like any Christian I have ever know.  The Christians I grew up with were nice, caring, accepting people.  Not judgmental hateful closed minded individuals.  I perused the conservative board this morning, just to see which republican they are admiring this morning or which democrat they are dogging and OMG, Im being posted about all over the board.  A few posted yesterday and right away they started asking were the posters gt!!  I cracked up laughing this morning.  No, I wasnt on their board posting.  I was in Mexico for the weekend and got back this morning..Gee, I generated this much attention and publicity by just posting on one little board in the vast expanse of the World Wide Web.  Amazing!  After reading their troubling posts, with all their attacks (one says she never attacks, yet one of her favorite words from what I have read is troll), I have decided not to read the conservative board any more.  I frankly dont need their negative energy..I feel sorry for all three of them.  They sound like they are angry bitter fools, clinging to a way and thought of life, so afraid frankly of anyone else with different and/or better ideas for this country.  Some people will never change and expand their consciousness as these three have proven to me.  This board I will continue to read and post from time to time, as it is a good open minded and accepting board and if the conservatives post an attack to me pertaining to this post, I will not read it nor respond.
Great post
Thank you for this post..It was a good one.  :o)
Great post gt!
Clinton always did know how to speak in clear terms about the basics of a matter - and speak to all people in plain language. Mystifying how Dubya's supporters claim he's the plain-talking one when every time he opens his mouth he's twisting the topic completely out of recognition or else just babbling incoherently.
LOL! Great post!!

Great post.
Couldn't agree with you more.
Great post, PK; thanks.

great post!!! thanks :)

Great post
Excellent points regarding health care, insurance, taxes. This is a conservative viewpoint. Less taxes brings in more revenue, but congress rarely gets it.

I agree that whoever is elected will not accomplish all stated promises/goals. That's always the case. So many believe that the president has power to do whatever he wants, but that is not the case and never has been.
Great Post...Thank You!
That makes it crystal clear!
You bet, ms! Great post. nm

GREAT post! Thank you!

Great post! You just know that if
the tables were turned they wouldn't want their money taken either. I have found that the people who moan and complain the most about not having any money are the ones who are in debt to the hilt, have never been taught to save a cent, blame the CC companies for making them charge so much and then expect the gov't to help them out in some way. How about this novel scenario: Work hard, save some money, don't try to outdo the neighbors with material things and take some responsibility. Don't expect a mere man who spouts pretty words and promises and only wants your vote to take care of you. Quit blaming the republicans, Bush, outsourcing, Wall Street fat cats, etc, and look in the mirror. The gov't cannot solve all your problems, be self-sufficient for once.
Great post!

My favorite part is:

IF I am wrong one day when I meet my Creator I will find out and I'll take my Creator's answer any day over anyone who is reading something from a book I don't believe in.

IMHO, that's how freedom of religion is supposed to work.  Ironically, sometimes the only way to guarantee alleged freedom of religion is to have freedom FROM it.

It is a very personal issue that is ultimately between you and your Creator, not someone who demands to push their religious views on  you.

I recently heard a pastor give a prayer before a McCain rally, where he actually "warned" GOD that God's "reputation" is on the line here, and that God had better make sure that McCain becomes President or else those who believe in different "Gods" will "win."

This guy was essentially telling God to get his act together!

Great post!
This is an intelligent, straightforward, unbiased post.  The MTs on this board should take note of it and learn from it.

What a great post!
I agree 100% with you, geek.
I also compare him to JFK:

Obama is elegant, a great, charismatic speaker, he has a wonderful voice, he is magnetic, honest, diplomatic, seldom aggressive and much more....

His speach during his last campaign in Orlando/Florida was the best ever, it was just overwhelming.

Great post, GP.

And I couldn't agree more about pardons for the two border patrol agents.  Instead, Bush's pardons have largely consisted of crooks who were involved in the savings and loan scandal of the 1980s.  Given today's current banking crooks and the shambles of the global economy, that says a lot about Bush's "morals" that he would prefer to pardon banking crooks instead of two brave men who were merely doing their jobs.

I think one of the biggest -- if not THE biggest -- injustice in my memory is those two men even spending one minute in jail.

Great post - thanks.

Great post!

You summed it up beautifully.  Thanks.

Wow! Right on - great post
I agree so much and could not have said it any better. They are knighting him calling him the savior and he hasn't even taken office yet. Time will tell whether he is a good president or not.

Thank you for your post.
Great post! (sm)

I couldn't agree more.  For starters, though I'm certainly no fan of Iran, after seeing what the USA did to its neighbor, Iraq, why WOULDN'T I want to have a nuclear weapon if I were Iran?

And why IS Israel allowed to have a nuclear weapon (probably paid for by US)?

After decades of "Israel is the chosen one and can do no wrong," I truly hope we become more even handed when dealing with the Middle East.  There are two sides to every story.  In my opinion, Israel's disproportionate response to the Palestinians a few weeks ago showed the world a LOT.

Some objectivity and accountability, I think, is needed and long overdue when we deal with Israel and her actions.

As far as being "brave," your post was a lot more brave (and well written) than mine, and I agree with everything you wrote.

The more he fails, the worse it will be for us all.  I hope he succeeds.
Great post! (sm)

The fact that the forgotten people you describe live in what is claimed to be the richest country on earth is appalling.

I thought your post was excellent.  Thank you.

Thank you. Great post. (sm)

I didn't agree with it when Bush did it (with Obama's support via his Senate vote), and I don't agree with it now.

I believe NO company in this country should ever be "too big to fail," and I believe all of these banks should have been allowed to survive or die on their own merits.

Furthermore, the "transparency" that was promised, so far has been nonexistent, and I'm against this, as well.

Anyway, I thought you wrote an awesome post.  Thank you.

:-) - Great post
I've been following your messages for some time and you always put great thought into what you say. You don't let your emotions take you away (like I do), and you always just tell it like it is. I like your "Dave Mann the Caveman" statement. Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth. Sometimes people would rather just sit in their homes and continue to be dumbed down and think everything is hunky-dory. I have a BIL who refuses to listen to any bad news because "I can't handle it". But there are us out there who want to know the truth. We will listen to everything no matter how "weird" it may sound. Because that "weird theory" may just be the truth. So thanks for posts. Always insightful and fun to read.
Very well said - thank you for a great post
There's more I could say, but won't. Your post is very insightful and true.

Thanks for posting.
Great post!! And I will put out my flag, too.

We are so divided in this country that sometimes I think we're headed for another civil war.

But we are still all Americans, and we've got to find a way to come together.

I remember how it seemed the entire country came together after 9/11.  I hope that can happen again without such a tragedy preceding it.

I hope you and your family have a blessed 4th!!!

Great post, Starcat!

My rule of thumb is to compare the credibility of Bush and Sergeant Major Haney.  Bush lies to me on practically a daily basis, so my inclination and common sense tells me to believe the Sergeant Major.

I often wonder if we will have another *terror* attack (maybe a small nuclear one) in order to (a) justify a nuclear war with Iran and/or (b) to frighten people into believing (before the November elections, with an instantaneous government *response*) that Republicans are the only ones who can keep us safe (if it looks like they will lose control of the House and Senate).

I guess time will tell, and I pray that no more Americans will have to die.

To Starcat....GREAT POST...sm

Yours was a GREAT post.  I believe the entire thing was a scam and I am an evacuee of an airport *newark NJ* on 9/11 a.m.

Everything you said, about the warnings during the elections and then after the elections, all the warnings stopped...hit the nail on the head!!

The poster under us says that they think we are in the minority.......NOT SO....just today we have to shut our mouths.......because BIG BROTHER is watching.

This president is just plain stupid....do you see all the things that come out of his mouth?  David Letterman shows them, Jay Leno shows them, Conon O'Brien shows them....et al, ad nauseum.  Bush is an EMBARRASSMENT to ALL OF US, and for the ones who cannot *see* this?  Something is wrong with them too.

GREAT POST, Starcat!!!

GMTA = great minds think alike

GREAT post, Piglet....you said it 4 me..sm

this sentence you said....you summed it up for me, what I feel and my thoughts

*Pro-life to me means anti-war, anti-starvation, anti-subjugation, etcetera, for all living things.*

yea sista - you tell them - great post
This is about the most unintilligable thing I have ever heard. They'll rant and rave at someone who says I won't vote for a man because he's not white, but they turn around and spew I won't vote for her because she was in a beauty pagent. Oh please....its so rediculous I have to laugh.

Truth is...they have not researched anything about her. We have been watching MSNBC for years and really like that station, but yesterday my DH said that without them saying anything about her as governer and what she has done for Alaska or anything they were cutting her down and making fun of her. Really showed me I need to start listening to another station.

People - if you are going to make such ignoramus remarks like I won't vote for someone cos their black or they are pretty or whatever reason then I don't want the next president to be picked by people of your unknowledgebable base.

Do the research and put your hatred aside until you know everything about a person.

Great post. Also, McCain is now...

"neck and neck" with Obama in McCain's own state of Arizona.  The Arizona Replubic stated Senator McCain is "struggling in his own backyard."  They stated he should have had a comfortable lead in Arizona which he doesn't.  McCain has now started his robocalls in Arizona.  Arizona is a republican state too.  I should know, I live here.

Way to go Obama - all the way to the White House!!!

Thank you for a great insightful post.
I wish we could all discuss things as you have just done.  THANK YOU!!!
