Here's a real nice conservative statement. How to make friends and influence people.

"Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson suggested on-air Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, that American operatives assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to stop his country from becoming "a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism."

Just peeked in on the Conservative board, looking for some *nice debates*

All I saw were you guys *applause applause*-ing each other and the usual ragging on all liberals.  Then I saw ONE courageous soul who attempted to debate with you, followed by the usual and customary *stay off the board* warnings to the poster.

So it seems you guys consider nice debate as ganging up and attacking posters who disagree with you.

Maybe that's the problem here.  We view nice debate in two different ways.

We view it as being nice to other posters and not personally attacking those who disagree with us.  We don't claim to know what they are thinking and feeling in their minds and hearts, and we find those who insist on being nasty to others very distasteful and crude.  We don't LIKE to act the way that you neocons act.  We'd rather be friendly and civilized. That's why you're not welcome here.  It's not because of what you believe.  It's because you are unable to act like decent human beings, and you don't know how to treat other people.

Another one from the Conservative board. Is it playing nice to call someone an insufferable

I believe the whole thread containing this post should be deleted, since they are all along the same lines and contain personal attacks against people who don't agree with them. Fair is fair, right?

To have a real caring president would be nice

Editorial

Waiting for a Leader

George W. Bush gave one of the worst speeches of his life yesterday, especially given the level of national distress and the need for words of consolation and wisdom. In what seems to be a ritual in this administration, the president appeared a day later than he was needed. He then read an address of a quality more appropriate for an Arbor Day celebration: a long laundry list of pounds of ice, generators and blankets delivered to the stricken Gulf Coast. He advised the public that anybody who wanted to help should send cash, grinned, and promised that everything would work out in the end.

We will, of course, endure, and the city of New Orleans must come back. But looking at the pictures on television yesterday of a place abandoned to the forces of flood, fire and looting, it was hard not to wonder exactly how that is going to come to pass. Right now, hundreds of thousands of American refugees need our national concern and care. Thousands of people still need to be rescued from imminent peril. Public health threats must be controlled in New Orleans and throughout southern Mississippi. Drivers must be given confidence that gasoline will be available, and profiteering must be brought under control at a moment when television has been showing long lines at some pumps and spot prices approaching $4 a gallon have been reported.

Sacrifices may be necessary to make sure that all these things happen in an orderly, efficient way. But this administration has never been one to counsel sacrifice. And nothing about the president's demeanor yesterday - which seemed casual to the point of carelessness - suggested that he understood the depth of the current crisis.

While our attention must now be on the Gulf Coast's most immediate needs, the nation will soon ask why New Orleans's levees remained so inadequate. Publications from the local newspaper to National Geographic have fulminated about the bad state of flood protection in this beloved city, which is below sea level. Why were developers permitted to destroy wetlands and barrier islands that could have held back the hurricane's surge? Why was Congress, before it wandered off to vacation, engaged in slashing the budget for correcting some of the gaping holes in the area's flood protection?

It would be some comfort to think that, as Mr. Bush cheerily announced, America will be a stronger place for enduring this crisis. Complacency will no longer suffice, especially if experts are right in warning that global warming may increase the intensity of future hurricanes. But since this administration won't acknowledge that global warming exists, the chances of leadership seem minimal.

His news conference yesterday...and there are a few real conservative economists left in the world..
that know his plans won't work, economic, healthcare and all the others.

Obama is doomed to fail miserably, and will probably blame someone else for it all (wait for it....It's Bush's fault...well, and maybe it'll be Congress' fault too, when things fail to work out according to his great plans).

Socialism doesn't work. Ask any true economist, and ask any historian how well Russia, Cuba, Venezuela socialism has worked out.
That is a pretty silly statement. Does that make...
everyone in the south a racist? Everyone who is white a racist? Everyone who is Christian a Baptist? Please do not pigeon-hole me. And what does that mean, anyway...support Bush? I support many of his policies, including going in Iraq. I have never even been to the website you posted and did not even know that existed until you posted it. To include me in any agenda there is irresponsible and wrong. You don't like to be lumped together as all liberals.... yet does not bother you to say anyone who supports Bush is a Neocon. Gimme a break.
I stick by my statement - doesn't make it right
And the lady who set fire to him is just as bad as he is.
Conservative outright spin and BS, spread on Fox by Gregg Jarrett, for the real whole unbiased story
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgif=/c/2009/101/02/ED151514UE.dtl, there was one slight recession in 1937-1938 because of spectacular growth when it took off, read the rest of the story. Pubs will say anything to rewrite history and try to save face. IMO
That's nice but it doesn't make any

Bush has promised to veto the bill, so this country will be stuck in backwards mode until 2008 when we have a competent president.

Bush doesn't care what 75% of Americans want.  He only caters to one narrow unreasonable religious group.  He doesn't care that a cure might be on the horizon that might save countless children from juvenile diabetes or cure Parkinson's or Alzheimer's or who knows what else if it can't be researched.

All he wants to do is send our kids to die in Iraq.  He's a disgrace.

I sincerely hope that whatever the tarhooties you were smoking to make that baseless statement
is the last of your stash..

You make a good point, but I think the real credit for African American progress..sm
is education. You can take away all of the social programs you want to, but if there is not progress in education, you still have poverty.
It is SO nice to see you people here who don't fall
nm
Are you people for real?
Either you are all incredibly gullible (which would explain your support for McPalin) or you are taking yourselves WAY too seriously.

For heaven's sake. It was a joke.

But you aren't the only one who doesn't recognize sarcasm when you read it!

Must also be hard for some people to give direct answers after making a statement like that.
nm
What a trash mouth....make you feel real good to be profane with a stranger on a posting board??
and yes, it is murder. When you kill a human being, its murder. You can justify it, rationalize it, whatever it takes so that you feel good about killing it....but it is murder. Very simple...it is living and growing. You introduce a foreign object and slice it into pieces and suck it out of the one place that should be SAFE. Biology 101...the child is alive. It is growing. would not grow if it was not alive. The life was terminated. That's murder.

And of the 1.2 million abortions performed in this country every year, how may do you think are due to rape (by anyone), incest, or to protect the life of the mother? Less than 20%. All the others are oops abortions. So let's start with delegalizing abortion except in the case of rape, incest, and endangering the life of the mother. That would save about 800,000 babies a year. That would be a great place to start. It might also encourage better stewardship of those uteruses you want the government to stay out of. You don't mind the government going in there to kill babies though, do you?

So now you want to round up all the pregnant women who are poor and abort their kids? You hinting that poor kids aren't loved by their parents?
Nice contradiction to the American people...
you need to scrimp and save, fall behind on your mortgage, be one step away from unemployment, but he$$ yeah, we are throwing an inauguration that will be the most expensive ever. Sheeple, he does not care about you, your tears of joy, your love for him...he is a typical politician, out for himself. You are all playing right into his hands. The dumbing down of America is in full swing; scam them, keep them happy and adoring us and we can do whatever we want to them with their blessing, just keep up the hope and change mantra.
are you for real? People of every color?
what kind of post is that? yea it will be a grand celebration and who's paying for it?
O likes to tell people nice things to their face, then
nm
Do people in your real life let you speak to them that way?
I'm just wondering, because I have been nothing but respectful this evening, and in fact, had quite a nice debate with several people.  You like to say that debate is welcome here, but your post just now proved that you are wrong.  If you can't see the hypocrisy in your post, then it is useless to try and explain it to you.
Why would you call people who just want a nice clean commentary on a board...sm
a bunch of bullies? I'm amazed at you. How are we the losers when someone else calls us names all night long and we only ask for common civility?

Your logic seems backward. It was a bully of one, directed at us.

And if you really want to talk about a bully pack, look to yourselves. The dems pile on sam to no end some days, nasty nasty stuff, when it's just her on. Why is it okay for you to do it to her with meanness, and we only ask for civility and common courtesy, and yet we're the bad guys?

We're all Americans here. Why do you continue to divide us? We're more alike than you care to admit, in a lot of ways.

But the big one that separates us, from the media, down to the people on blogs, is that liberal dems are mean and downright nasty to republicans. If we don't agree with your point of view, on almost any subject, you treat us as less than nothing. I just don't understand it.

I was trying to be helpful last night, and point out that she really should try to get along. But she didn't want to. Sally actually has some good posts occasionally, hidden in between her icky ones. I look for them sometimes, and feel she should be here, as is anyone's right. But no one should have to be subjected to vulgarity.

That's the big difference too. Dems don't want to get along with anyone, most often. You only get along with yourselves.

Very, very sad.
They have a lot of influence
xx
You go girl! Don't let anyone influence
you about your vote. You go ahead and vote your conscience and feel good about yourself! This election is too important for you not to vote at all. My mother lived and died and never voted because she felt she didn't have the right because she was a woman. Can you imagine? You go vote while we all still have that privilege!
People who make more
pay more taxes to begin with.  So why up it for them?  I have no problem with people receiving money from the government if they paid too much from their earnings.  However, when there are people out there who aren't working and so no money is going to the government....I don't think they should get a check back from the government.  You should have to contribute before you get anything back.  That is taking money from hard working individuals and giving it to people including the ones who don't work.  That isn't fair and that is nothing but welfare.
I think what he really does is make people think.
What he says may sound outrageous, but once you think about what he's really saying, some of it makes sense.

There should have been an investigation about 9/11, yes, but did we need those families on the TV every single night repeating that? No. I can't say I hate them for doing it because it was really the fault of the journalists that kept shoving cameras in thier faces. That's not to say at all that they don't deserve compassion, but they also should have been left alone to grieve.

And yes, the Katrina victims certainly deserve compassion, but I know for a fact that if a hurricane was coming my way, I'd get as far away as I could by any means that I could find. I don't hate the people that stayed behind, but what about the people who did get out and still lost everything - do they deserve any less compassion? And you didn't hear thier stories every night.

Yes, Beck is a radical right-winger and that's why us right-wingers like him so much. I may not always agree with what he says (much like Rush), but what he says definitely makes you think.

If you want to think he's an idiot, that's fine, but him and a lot of other right-wingers on "Fixed Noise" have been and are still right about a lot of things going on in our country. The left doesn't have the market cornered on what's right just because thier man is in the White House - no one knows that better than those of us who voted for Bush and have been regretting it for several years.

Islamic influence in prisons is not a new
This has been going on for quite some time. Unfortunately, what is taught in prison isn't "mainstream" Islam, but a corruption of it that really amounts to nothing more than criminal enterprise cloaked in the guise of religious activity. As such, the hands of prison officials are basically tied when it comes to trying to stop it because they would be interfering with a prisoner's "religious freedoms".
All these people make up a minority

I never said that Jefferson was alone in his views just that he was in a minority.  Again, from the evidence I've read on both sides liberal philosophers and professors have chosen to re-write history.  I think the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights speak for themselves and literally scream about a country with it's foundations in God.  You can choose to ignore the words Almighty God, Divine providence etc., but it does not make them any less there in  A deist belives in a deity to answer the question posted above either by the writer of the post or the writer of  the excerpted text (I could not figure out who was posing the question).

We could throw quotes back and forth all day and never see eye to eye about it, but I choose to err on the side of God and Jesus Christ.  I choose to live by faith that Jesus Christ is the only way, but let's look at it in a common sense way.  Say I am wrong, and there are many *paths* to God then I'm still eternally okay, because I have embraced this path of which there are many, but say there are not many paths to God and Jesus Christ is truly the only way....then that's going to leave the people on the *other paths* in sad condition when they leave this world.

How about we tax the PRODUCTS that make people fat, sm
rather than "fatness"? Modified food starch, high fructose corn syrup, soy oils hidden in products? Imagine how much $$ we could make for so-called children's health programs if we actually taxed the items (like SODA POP and crappy snacks) that are MAKING THEM FAT in the first place!
With the flat tax, people who make under 40,000 per year will not have to
pay taxes the way it reads now. They estimate that people making over 40,000 will be able to produce more tax income than the current income tax w/o including people who make under 40,000.

Q and A about the Flat Tax.

People like you make me ashamed to call myself
su
your mixing people up to try and make a point but not doing it well
First you compare Obama to her, but then on an issue you compare Obama to McCain because you know you don't have anything bad to compare to Gov Palin with. Then when you talk about Obama you praise him and when you talk above Gov Palin you demean her. Where is the fairness in that?

First, nobody is taking anything away from Obama. He is intelligent, articulated, has a beautiful family, has done quite well for himself both career and family wise.

Nobody is saying he is exotic and comparing it to her saying she is a quantessential American Story. People are very impressed with Obama's life history. Hawaii is a very exotic sounding state (I've never heard him described as exotic). Ahh Hawaii, beautiful oceans, white sandy beaches - everyone's dream vacation. You make it sound like people are tearing him down because he was born in Hawaii. Alaska is quite different. You have to admit that hunting moose is not your everyday experience but nowhere in any news source or anywhere have I heard people compare where they grew up in to put one down and bring the other up.

Nobody has said that because his name is Barack he's a radical unpatriotic Muslim. He's a Muslim turned Christian period, but not because of his name, and nobody has said she's a Maverick because of what she named her kids.

Nobody has said he is unstable because he graduated Harvard. On the contrary. People have said he is one of the most intelligent persons to have graduated and become the first black president of the Harvard Law Review. That's not an accomplishment many people can say they have and that is what I am hearing everywhere. And who cares how many colleges she went to (this is your first demeaning statement of her by saying they were "small" colleges instead of just saying "5 colleges"). My DH has attended about 7 colleges all because of where he was living at the time and he is far from "well grounded" and I have never heard people say that about her.

Second part of belittling her and raising him up is by saying he is a "brilliant" community organizer. Brilliant may be your view of him, but I would just say he was a community organizer. No need to say he is brilliant and all other words of praise while belittling her. Yes, she was on TV but she was not a "local weather girl" (another cheap shot at trying to put her down). She was a TV News anchor and covered sports. And your description of her time served as councilwoman, mayor, and governor is a little more than insulting. It goes to verify that you just hate her and what she has accomplished. You need to research all the good things she has done and whether you like it or not, she has done a lot of good things for the people and made their lives better. And to try attack the population of Alaska as though it's some kind of negative for her, and make her sound any less by saying they were small towns and state. Governer is governer. Responsibilites are the same wether your a governor of Alaska, Hawaii, California or any other state (give or take a few of the state programs). BTW Alaska is more than twice the size of Texas. And funny how Dean was the frontrunner for the dems when the population of Vermont is smaller than Alaska (yes, I'm sure you all don't want to remember that little tid bit).

Gov. Sarah Palin was on the city council for 2 years, Chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Committee for 1 year, was mayor of Wasilla for 6 years. She defeated a 3-term mayor. She created positions and even reduced her salary. She cut property taxes by 75% and eliminated personal property and business inventory taxes. She made improvements to the roads and sewers and increased funding to the police department. She also procured funding for storm-water treatment to protect freshwater resources. She ran a second term and won by 74%. She's promoted oil and natural gas resource development. She sold a jet, got rid of a personal chef and drives herself to work from her home (50 miles) even though she is allowed a per diem and hotel. She got rid of the bridge to nowhere and she signed into law the AGIA. So your portrayal of what Gov. Palin has done is quite inaccurate while boosting up Obama. Gov. Palin's past qualifications will most definitely contribute and help her to be a good VP.

Obama was a state legislature from 1997-2004, in the US Senate in 2004, and became a junior senator in 2005. You can't even seriously compare the two.

Yes Obama has been married to Michelle for 19 years and their two daughters are beautiful. Sarah has been married to Todd for 20 years and they have five beautiful children. (your comparing Barack to Sarah in all your answers - so why did you jump to John McCain on this one?)

Whatever kind of safe sex education you want to give pre-schoolers (who should be
more concerned with learning how to read and write is just wrong). Gov. Palin did not advocate teaching only abstinence. And she had nothing to do with her daughter getting pregnant. The best of children come up pregnant both in democratic and republican party.

Funny how you were all for Bill Clinton getting ready to be called "First Dude", but now you have a problem with Todd Palin being called "First Dude", and don't even try to justify that one with Bill Clintons background. Are you saying the the VP's spouse is suppose to have a college education? How egotistical of you. Especially since he is a commercial fisherman, for 18 years worked in the oil fields, member of the United Steelworkers, among other things. That's a pretty stable background.

Kudo's to Michelle for graduating from Harvard, but not everyone wants to go to college to be a lawyer (and in my opinion we need less lawyers in DC, not more), but to take away from Todd Palin because he doesn't have a college degree????

And to mention such an insignificant note that he didn't vote until 25? Who cares? And I'm not sure that is even true, but just plain trivial.

This post is just another liberal post trying to trash and demean decent people, not giving credit where credit due, while propping up your candidate, with inflated statements.

Ok, much clearer now to you?
I just knew some people would make this into an argument

I just thought it was pretty cool and on the lighter side. But...as usual, some people just want to argue.

Death of Right-Wing Talk Radio Influence sm
The Death Of Right-Wing Talk Radio Relevance
By Steve Young

Twelve years of unmerited influence and half-truths swathed in red, white and blue patriotism met its demise this past Tuesday with a dagger to the heart served up by revelations from the Iraq Study Group substantiating that everything right wing talk radio had said was right about the Iraqi, was wrong.

Born the day Rush Limbaugh mid-wifed Newt Gingrich's Contract For (On) America, RWTRR lived a healthy and wealthy life duping a great portion of the America public into voting against their own best interests.

Right wing talk grew larger and louder over its lifetime, adding names like Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Neal Boortz, Dennis Prager and many more imitators. They each spent three hours a day catchphrasing words and thoughts - no matter how rickety their evidence (if any) - that the mainstream media would give equal time and space along side the truth.

All of a sudden, the truth was only worth 50% of any issue.

Enabled by a gullible mainstream media hoping to hitch itself to the growing Lords of Loud audience, the Rove-inspired red-herrings were greased up even more by talk radio's band of Professor Harold Hills and shoved charmingly down America's throat. And, as with all great con men, these snake oil salesmen sold hole-cloth, betraying the public trust and making fistfuls of dollars doing it.

To be fair, they had to. It's was a Catch-22. If they had trusted their audience with the truth, they'd have no audience.

But November's election and the ISG report finally drained life-giving oxygen from a lying heart. Not only did the public begin to understand they were being duped, but even the FOBIJB (Friends of Bush including James Baker) could no longer ignore the tide. Of course there will continue to be FOBIL (Friends of Bush Including Lieberman), but they will sustain escalating losses, just as the LOL are losing audience in droves.

But the one-two punch of November's mid-terms compounded by the Iraq Study Group's revelations, knocked a terminal hole in any credibility right wing talk may have had left.

Limbaugh admitted he was shilling for Republicans who didn't deserve to be elected, then attempted to hush the death knell rung by the ISG by recasting it, oh so hysterically, as the Iraq Surrender Group. Get it? He changed one of the words. Second-rate comics who are dying on stage always go for the insipidly obvious and as with the comics, it never gets the audience back.

Hannity has gone off the deep end calling everyone else but himself wrong. He persists on telling liberal callers that we found WMD even though Bush doesn't seem to have gotten the same intelligence Sean has while Curt Weldon and Rick Santorum were voted out of office whipping the same dead horse.

Beck asks an American Congressman to prove he's not working for the enemy.

Prager believes the same Congressman holding his bible will bring down American civilization.

O'Reilly can't drum up many recruits to fight this year's War Against Christmas, and how many times can you hear look at me with out re-tasting last night's dinner?

And Savage...? Well, just Savage.

Oh, they'll keep some listeners, but they'll be talking to a choir who doesn't care that they're hearing to a bunch of cloutless charlatans who never had the guts to serve our country but have no problem sending other families into life-changing horror; fans who don't care their heros had it wrong, and had it wrong over and over. And when it came to the war...dead wrong.

Now any relevance these cascading Lords of Loud might once have had, if not dead, is on life support. And if there are some in the legitimate media who still choose to give these mongrels of misrepresentation any time, space or air, they do it at the risk of their own relevance.

Right-wing talk show relevance was never married but leaves behind soon-to-be-irrelevant offspring: Dick Morris, Bernie Goldberg, Tom DeLay, Ann Coulter, David Horowitz, David Limbaugh, Bill Kristol, Michelle Malkin, General Tommy Franks, Oliver North, James Dobson, Whitewater, Swift Boaters, Flip-flopping, Terri Schiavo, The buses, Outing covert agents as appropriate government behavior, WMD, Saddam's close relationship with bin Laden, If you're against the war your against the troops, If you're against the President's policies you're against America, Activist judges are making laws, Making progress, Tax relief benefitting the middle class, No child left behind is a success, Republican legislators appreciating veterans, Pharmaceutical companies writing drug bills will benefit the public, Stem cell research causes baby cloning, and Wars against Christmas

Memorial services will be continued, sadly, three hours a day. All donations should be made to Fox News.
He should shut up and not push policy or influence until he gets into office.
He has truly undermined the current sitting president and has been disrespectful to that very office. That much is true.

I wasn't talking about two ways about anything. You must be talking about someone else.
To make it easier for some people, I tallied the votes (sm)

O did not vote  on the issues 289 times. He voted yea 220 times and voted nay 128 times.

I haven't had the time to really check out the yea's or nay's but I will in the next couple of days.

Perhaps if you would try to make sense people could answer your questions. nm
x
is it our government's job to make the world's people happy?
nm
why do we vote for people to make things complicated?
People who make their bills 900 pages should be rejected on the spot.  There should be a page max to make sure that the people representing us fully understands what they are getting US into.  JERKS!!!!  thanks for showing me that!
Immediate White House statement on Dr. Tiller - still no statement on

Having had at least three relevant opportunities to make a statement about the killing of an Army recruiter and wounding of another since this occurred on Monday, Obama has not said a single word about it - but a statement was forthcoming from him immediately concerning the killing of Dr. Tiller.

The media coverage of the two events has also been strikingly different.  Please note that the sympathies of the liberal cause provide a complete explanation of both of these phenomena.

More than passingly strange that they think we don't notice stuff like this, n'est-ce pas? Well, they'll discover their mistake soon enough.  The election cycle of 2010 is already starting up - and it isn't going to look anything like the cycle of 2008.

Why does the Government have to create Laws to make people Volunteer?...

http://therealbarackobama.wordpress.com/2009/03/15/meet-the-compulsive-service-orwellian-give-act-to-be-voted-on-this-week/

Next up on the agenda this week is the GIVE Act, short for the “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act”.

The ABC News headline ‘GIVE’ Act Would Give Back. Volunteer Programs Would Provide Jobs to Unemployed, Assist Those in Need says it all.

In his address to Congress last month, President Barack Obama called on lawmakers to expand federally funded national service opportunities.

“To encourage a renewed spirit of national service for this and future generations, I ask this Congress to send me the bipartisan legislation that bears the name of Sen. Orrin Hatch as well as an American who has never stopped asking what he can do for his country — Sen. Edward Kennedy,” the president said.

Democrats say they may be able to respond to that call by the end of this month.

The Senate is working on the Kennedy/Hatch Serve America Act of 2008, and the House is working on a similar bill, called the Generations Invigorating Volunteering and Education (GIVE) Act.

If the real folks, with real hope, faith, and
and for our country's future who participate here on this forum were just a tad as healthy, wealthy and wise as this poster considers herself, we probably wouldn't be sitting in front of these silly computers trying to make a living!! Can't figure why she is here other than tell us how healthy, wealthy and wise she is and we are not!
