My stepson has been in my life since he was 10 years old, always a good kid, honor roll student, etc. Well, when he was 16 he started having a really hard time, was diagnosed with depression by the doctor and put on medication. It was getting to the point that I could actually SEE something eating at him and finally I asked him to just PLEASE let it out and tell me what is going on.
We had a long talk, he told me that since he was EIGHT years old he has only had attractions towards males. He was a virgin at the time, never been with either sex, but he only had caring type feelings towards the same sex.
He was raised in church and said that his whole life he would pray and cry just about every night begging God to make him not feel that way because he was afraid to go to "the devil" (wouldn't let me use the other word). It hurts me that he lived that way and had to feel that way.
I don't know for sure what is right or wrong, but I do know that now he is openly gay and no longer "depressed" or a need for antidepressants. He is happy and I am happy for him. I would hate to know that he can't get married if he found a life partner because of other people pushing their opinions off on him.
