I read the whole thing, and I appreciate your opinion, and I know you believe it...

In Reply to: You sound arrogant and pompous - please read my message - me

now try to understand my belief. I feel that my God is a powerful and just God. I also believe that He gave His children free will, and I believe that all of us will answer to Him one day for all our choices, whatever they may be. Please understand...I do believe that those aborted babies are with God now. No doubt about it. Straight shot to his side, as they are the most innocent among us. But you cannot make me believe that a just and loving God would agree with this heinous, horrible procedure, to the tune of 1.2 million every year! I'm sorry...I just don't believe that.

And I'm sorry...I don't think murder is between God and the person. An unborn child has a soul...just like a child who has been born. What about someone who murders a child outside the womb? Is that between the murderer and the creator? What about when a pedophile hurts and then murders a child? That is between the pedophile and his creator? I am not saying that to be mean or confrontational. I am trying to understand.

My God, I believe, loves all children, and yes, children who die violently go right to His side, yes, I believe that. What I do not believe is that it was His will that they die violently. You have your belief, and I have mine. Can't be just allow each other to have our beliefs? Can't I be allowed to follow MY belief of MY God, which tells me that someone needs to speak for these children?

As you said...that is just my opinion, my belief.

Here is my humble opinion on the whole thing....
The United States needs to call all it's troops back from where ever they are stationed (Germany comes to mind for starters). Then call in any outstanding debts we are owed (which may not be much any more), and close our borders...north, south, east, and west. Then, the next time a major disaster occurs somewhere, we say to the injured parties....get China over there to help, call Russia, let Mexico send all their money and illegals over to help. We are not going to be the world's savior any more. You can sink or swim on your own.

You cannot fight an enemy that has no uniform. You cannot negotiate with a person who wants to cut your head off, who believes it is his Allah-given right to cut your head off.

For Obama to apologize for the arrogance of the United States is the epitome of arrogance on his own part. But then you could expect no less from someone who has no knowledge of politics except at the state level.

If it hadn't been for the United States, France would be speaking German for starters.
I will reserve any opinion on the Ayers thing...
until the documents are made public that Columbia University just released regarding Ayers and Obama. Obama may have been 8 when Ayers was active, but just looking at the people Barack was connected with during that time I don't entertain any doubts that he knew exactly who Ayers was and what he had done. If it was in the past, that's one thing. But the man still says he is not a bit sorry that he did what he did. And if he has Obama's ear in any way...that would be a problem for me. But, that being said, it would just be one more thing, because I am not voting for him anyway.

With all due respect, the last few years have been under a democratically-controlled congress, and it has been in the last few years that things got really bad. Not saying it is all their fault, but they certainly haven't done anything to try to fix it. If they are going to be able to suddenly miraculously fix it if a Democrat is elected...all that tells me is that they are dragging their feet at our expense. The American public knows that...that is why Congress' numbers are lower than Bush's.

As a matter of fact, things are going pretty well for my family and my neighbors. The biggest thing, of course, is gas, but I remember when Clinton was in office we had a really LONG run of household fuel (for oil furnaces) was higher than it is now. I am not saying it was Clinton's fault because I don't think turns in the economy are any one man's fault. It is up to Congress to fix that sort of thing, not sit on their hands during a political season. I would be saying the same thing if it was a Dem administration. Has nothing to do with the party, it has to do with a lazy inactive Congress...which is, of course, made up of folks from both parties.

As to endless war...this country has had soldiers in other countries during most administrations since Viet Nam...Clinton had them in Kosovo and Somalia. Might have been "peacekeeping missions" but Americans still died there. And by the way, McCain did not say that the war in Iraq could go on for 100 years. What he said was that there might be an American presence there, like bases. We still have bases where we fought many wars. We had bases in Germany for many years. That has often been misquoted. That being said, he is not my favorite either; however, he fits the bill, for me, better than Obama.

In deference to my erstwhile fellow posters, I will not go into the abortion issue. :-)

The only thing I know about social security and wall street is it was proposed that if someone wanted to, they should be allowed to have control of their social security money and invest it if that was their choice. I have never heard anyone say it was mandatory. Personally, I would like to have control of mine to put into CD's where Congress couldn't raid it to pay for other things. If we had privatized it before, it would still be there because Congress couldn't have gotten their grubby paws on it to "borrow" it. Which, by the way, was done during a Democrat administration.

As to the celebrity and all that, I don't pay attention to attack ads on either side. I have seen some from Obama's side that are pretty harsh and about as silly. I wish they would both stop that stuff and stick to the issues...but that is just me.
Read it again. It is an opinion piece...
written by a black minister. He is entitled to his opinion and I don't believe has been called a discredited liar. This has nothing to do with the McCain camp. You might want to actually read a post before the drive-by "They're all liars" campaign strategy.

And y'now, Obama is not in ANY position to call anyone else a liar. He lied about his vote on giving medical care to babies who survive abortion. He voted against it. He actually voted that the child should be left to die. He then said if a bill had come to the floor that was worded like the federal bill he would have voted for it. Such a bill DID go to the floor of the Illinois state senate and he voted against it. It is a matter of public record. He voted against the bill to save babies who survived abortion TWICE...basically said deny them care and let them die. He is so invested in abortion rights that he would not vote for common human decency in case it might affect abortion rights. That is sick, sick, SICK. Basically his campaign has owned up to the fact that he was untruthful. So I would not be posting calling the other side liars...
I read the article and in my honest opinion

the one about the food should be passed. We have no idea what we are eating anymore. Food comes from different countries that don't have our strict guidelines on food safety and apparently, are not enforced enough.

I cringe every time I go to the store and see peppers and tomatoes from Chile, Mexico, Peru, or from wherever. Heck, my produce store rarely labels where the foods come from so I don't buy then.  How do we know what pesticides they use?   I try to buy American fresh veggies and fruits but sometimes it's not possible.

I remember a time when you couldn't get strawberries or other fruits and vegetables  in winter because the growing season was over. Problem is, times have changed. Food comes from all over the globe and "in season" veggies and fruits are a thing of the past. Although it IS convenient, it still bothers me.

If you read the whole thing....
it is black liberation theology basically...and is segregationist. When whites preached segregation, it was called racist. That is exactly what Michelle Obama is doing. That blacks should separate themselves from whites so as not to be "assimilated." So much for no black america, no white america, just america....she does not believe that, and I don't believe he does either. All his career, his associations, etc., do not support that he does.

After you read the thesis, you understand that she meant exactly what she said when she said for the first time in her adult life she was proud of her country.

Obviously they share this separation view and that is why they gravitated to the people they gravitated to, and to Wright's church.

And no, Obama's campaign did not release it. Princeton University did, because of the Freedom of Information Act, and she signed at the beginning of the thesis that Princeton could release it (back when she wrote it..of course, at that time had no idea she would be wife of man running for Pres of US).

I was not going to vote for Obama anyway, and this certainly moved me more solidly toward McCain.
And one more thing.........everybody read......sm
Thanks for "coming to my defense" on the board today. We might not always agree on everything, but that's the beauty of life. Y'all are the greatest! MMMMMMWWWWWWAAAAAA!!!!!
You best read up on history a little more. GOT for one thing.

This is the most nonsensical thing I have ever read. nm

I did read the whole thing, why do you assume that I
didn't? Just because I didn't feel that it was racist, doesn't mean I didn't. We obviously have different takes on it.

The release of it I was referring to was to the politico.com web site, which Obama did relase it to, not the thesis as a whole.
I agree...have read the same thing. nm
x
That's the most stereotypical thing I"ve ever read
New California seems like a racist state to me....
Just ignore them, ms, obviously they refuse to read the whole thing....nm
x
That's the most sensible thing I've read on this board
in a looooong time.  Why should somebody who works hard (or inherits) for their money have to pay more taxes than someone who makes (or inherits) less money.  Everybody paying the same - that is equality.
Thank you - the wisest thing I've read yet today
I keep posting there are bad and good on both sides. Neither side is perfect. There are a lot of democrats I agree with and I think they are right on (Kucinich, Richardson, and others in the senate). Actually there are more democrats I agree with than I would rather admit to. HA HA, but there are some I absolutely do not agree with (Pelosi, Reid, Clinton and others). On the other side there are some republicans I agree with (Ron Paul and others, can't think of any others right now just cos I'm so tired) and those that I think really stink (Bush at the top of them), but unless we get on this board praising Obama and every single democrat and cut down and destroy every republican, we will get bashed over and over. I have said many times there are good and bad on both sides and if people are going to follow the group think and not think for themselves, well that's when they lose a part of their sense. My mom is a great one. I don't know how many arguments I will have with her. She hates Bush so much with such a vengence she has come right out and said what she want to happen. "He's a liar, he's this, I don't have any money because of Bush, etc, etc. But the minute I say to her If you want to talk about liars lets hit on Clinton, or lets talk about what Obama said. Ohhhh no, can't do that. I was also told by her "If you know what is good for you, you'll stop saying those bad things about him". I asked her what exactly does that mean and she said I just better watch it. Then I said to her, well how can you say what you say about Bush but I tell you I disagree about something Obama said and your ready to report me to the authorities. Funny how someone mysteriously happened to be knocking on her door at that moment and she had to leave (btw, I didn't hear anything in the background and her phone is in the halway near her front door). So unless people will admit when they are wrong there will always be arguments.
It's obvious you didn't read a DARN thing.....
First of all, real history is not taught in college either.... unless you are soooo lucky as to get a professor who actually LOVES history and really DID his/her homework.

My son is a history/political major and LOVES history... and I can assure you, he would put history teachers to shame in what they "think" they know.... the crap the government puts in their history books is all they are ALLOWED to teach in our public "government ran" schools!

Our history IS politics....where have you been? Teaching our kids politics IS teaching them history.... WOW! Glad my son is teaching them and not you!

This guy has been teaching for 19 years with NO complaints about his informative web site.... the parents have ALWAYS like it!

Only ONE person complained......ONE!!! No doubt a liberal jackarse who has NO loyalty or love for this country whatsoever.... another lost soul.

This guy had an introductory video where he says he truly wanted his kids to LOVE America.........what the heck is wrong with that?

He was told to remove that video because everyone "did not love America"..... huh? Then I suppose they can sit on their sorry sad butts and hate everything....who cares? This guy did nothing wrong but encourage students to love their country but of course, you WOULD have something wrong with that! Geesh!
Now THAT's the smartest thing I've read in a long time! nm

East Ohio Gas has been using natural gas to fuel their utility trucks for years - why hasn't that caught on?  Makes ya wonder..............

Your opinion of torture is your opinion. Tough
nm
History is history and opinion is opinion. You need to learn the difference.

But valuing over the price of a dollar is a right thing wing thing, so you are on the wrong board. n

This looks interesting. A long read, so will read it when I get home from work. nm
nm
Obviously u didnt read, I said NONE of them are moral. Read the post before spouting off.

I read on CNN (yes, I do read liberal stuff too..hehe)...sm
...that Karl Rove was actually very disappointed in the McCain campaign for airing negative type ads against Obama.

So I would say that Rove is definitely not in the hip pocket of the McCain campaign.
Good research sam - but a lot to read right now so gotta read it later
I've been goofing off too much from work. I appreciate what you wrote and will read when I'm done with work here.
WHOSE OPINION?

That's your opinion
I don't think the liberal justices have been able to put their own views aside to make constitutionally sound decisions in the last few years, but again, that's my opinion as much as you are basing your judgements on your opinion. I think Bush is a brillant man, and I won't castigate you for thinking he's not, but it is your opinion and you have a right to it. Do I think Harriet Miers is best choice? No, but given her credentials I don't think she's a disaster either. The whole Roe vs. Wade issue has been controversial from it's inception, and yes I do think abortion is wrong, because it's killing innocent human life. I think it should be revisited. Roe has had a change of heart over the years about it, and to me that speaks volumes. However, I doubt you will agree and I don't expect you to.

Okay, if a justice should be excluded because of their abortion views then all the justices would have to be excluded, because they all have taken sides one way or the other.
I second your opinion except

I do believe, based on all information available, that Plame was truly outed.  There is no "opinion" involved here.  It is either true or false, and in this case, it is true she was outed. Throw as much distraction and verbiage at it as you want, but the fact remains.

What is your opinion...???
You mention abortions in this country that occur. How do you feel about Iraqi women having abortions? Does it bother you as much as abortions in the US?  Would you go to Iraq at the present time and implore upon the women there not to have an abortion? "Life, what a terrible thing to waste."
Your opinion, and
Get a grip.
that's your opinion
I think that's a "desperate" attempt by dems because you must be scared of his pick!

I am a woman and a proud woman but i don't vote for one just because of that fact! (take Hillary for example!!)

you can have your opinion - and so can I
You just don't like to hear the truth. Hurts doesn't it!

I think I said in my post I commend you both for being able to stay at home and raise your kids. Good for you.

Your the one cutting down Sarah Palin for no good reason and just spewing lies. So I am giving my opinion.

Goes both ways.

As Austin Powers would say - Yeah, baby!
It is just my opinion ...
once again, just because I don't like his personna does not mean that I am not voting for him.

I truly have not decided.
Just my opinion...sm

This is all pretty much a matter of opinion, why does one have to be stupid to vote for who they FEEL is the best candidate.  None of them truly are qualified.  We can gave education and we can gain experience, but when given the task at hand, how many actually succeed.  I feel that the Bush administration has been the worst ever since I have become involved in politics over the years, but that is my personal opinion.  Not only was he given one term and failed, but a second term and things got worse.

I am not pushing any buttons or trying to step on anyones toes.  To me it does not matter what race, religion, or gender, have always been a democrat and nothing and no one can ever make me vote republican, but the replican administration that had the task of leading our country for the last 8 years has definitely turned some die hard republicans to say they will vote republican.

This is my thing, I'm poor in a sense that I do not have millions of dollars in the bank, the rising gas prices and food prices affect me tremendously, and I live below my means.  The economy has changed, it is not good.  I want to survive.  I want to know that my job is safe, if I need financial assistance to save my home or feed my kids that it is available.  There are more issues that hit home for me, just a few named above.  I do not care that the gentleman who started AIG lost 3 billion dollars, so what how many millions do he have left.  If I lose $100 that's a sore spot for me.  They are saving financial insitutions with buyouts, spending billions on a war, and nothing to help the working Americans who lost their job and lost their homes and they were working hard just to survive.

I'm torn in a sense, but I do feel sorry for our country.  How much more will we working Americans have to suffer.

Just my thought, part of the money that is been sent to fund this war, can we have it here in America to give to our people who are suffering from natural disasters (hurricanes, raging fires, jobs moved overseas, and all the other major crises surrounding us).  What are we really striving for?

This is my opinion.....

From reading her thesis....she just made it sound like ivy league colleges are directed towards the "Whites" and wondered if it was really beneficial for "Blacks" to attend these colleges in a predominant white setting.  Stating that "Blacks" who attended Princeton found themselves grouped together but at the end of their education came to finding their way in the "White" world and forsaking the "Black Community."  How some "Blacks" felt guilt because they felt they should help the low-income black community and hadn't and others felt no guilt and strived for a position in the white world like Princeton was to blame for these "Blacks" building a life for themself and their family instead of putting everything back into the black community.

It sounds to me like Michelle Obama is a bitter and arrogant black woman and her involvement and membership at Rev. Wright's church for 20 years is just more proof of that.  As many times as Rev. Wright showed up in interviews and spatted hate and the empowerment of blacks against their white oppressors....you cannot tell me honestly that Barrack and Michelle NEVER heard any message like that when it seems like that is all that comes out of Rev. Wright's mouth.

That is your opinion...
Obama doesn't know how many states are in the country he is actually running for President of. Joe Biden can't keep his foot out of his mouth.

Real Clear Politics has McCain ahead in electoral votes, and that is where the election is decided, not the popular vote. They are virtually neck and neck or within margin of error in Pennsylvania and Michigan...which nearly always are double digits for the Democrat at this time in elections. Just a little perspective on polls. That being said, polls are what they are. We will not know until election night.

deRothschild's remark doesn't mean as much to me as the "clinging bitterly to their guns and religion" comment of Obama's about Pennsylvanians...that is why he lost his lead in Pennsylvania and why it may very likely go Republican for the first time in how many years.....?

And that comment tells me all I need to know about the character of Barack Obama and how he feels about the common person out here in the flyover states.
My opinion

I voted for the first time in 1960.  The issue then was "Catholic."  People were "scared" of a Catholic president.........much like Obama being "Muslim."  Not much new since then except for the extensive media and internet.  Of course the "Catholic" won.  Some still say that election was bought by the Senior Kennedy.  I  happen to believe that now and I voted for him.  At that time I was a young voter, JFK was young, good-looking and talked a good talk.

You say the media picked their "darling."  I've watched TV consistently since the beginning of all this mess, starting with the primaries and I have seen no bias on CNN where I usually get my news and watch debates, etc. I did notice that Tom Tancredo (whom I supported) and Ron Paul were NOT given equal time in the debates.   Anything I hear that does not come directly from the horse's mouth, I research and make up my own mind, thus I consider myself about as well-informed as anyone can be who doesn't personally know any of the candidates.  I continue to be dismayed by posters on this board such as the above poster who says "Obama caught in the act."  If this is the kind of ill-informed voters who actually vote and elect our leader, God save us all.

The ACORN thing.  If I understand it correctly, the actual voter registration office that "discovered" the fradulent registrations is run by Republicans.  So there you have it again...Dem vs. Pubs.  They say they "don't have time to sort out the legitimate registrations"...Isn't that their job?  Do you REALLY think ACORN is the only one guilty of voter fraud?  I most certainly do not.  Why do you think both parties steer far away from illegal immigration?  Not a word have I heard from either candidate about illegal immigration.  Why?  Both are in favor of giving the free-loading, criminal invaders of our country "a path to citizenship," because both parties want the Latino vote, legal or otherwise.

To answer your question....I think our next leader will be decided by rabid voters who support the ticket, whichever group has the most rabid voters that actually turn out, and it looks to me like it may be the Republican ticket so it will not surprise me if John McCain is the next president.  I personally know many people who say they are not going to vote because they, like myself, cannot support either candidate.  I think there will probably be a huge voter turn-out and much of the turn-out will be newly registered voters and those who have bought into the Obama is a scary fellow campaign.  Fear is the scary thing, it brings out the fight or flight instinct just as it is designed to do in this election.  Seems many people can't see the forrest for the trees.

VOTING WITH A WRITE-IN VOTE FOR LOU DOBBS!!!!

So, did you have an opinion on
nm
Well if it is just your opinion then you need to say that
If it is not a fact that she uses her religion to gain money and power then you are slandering her without saying "in my opinion".

So you can post something hateful about aggressive women starting trouble and then needing their male counterparts to back them up, but when someone questions you, they are being over aggressive?

Everybody has their own opinion.
.
My opinion is..........sm
that it is hateful in its message that basically ridicules Christianity and I believe it is hateful in the manner in which it was displayed right next to a Nativity scene. If the sign had not ridiculed the Christian faith and had been displayed in another area away from the Nativity, then perhaps it may have remained intact. For example, why not just say something like "Happy Winter Soltics" with the name of the organization at the bottom if they were truly just promoting the winter soltice and giving people information on atheist service organizations? The Nativity scene displays no hate language. It is a statement of the love of our God that Christians celebrate at this time of the year. Like GP, I think the atheists protest way too much over something they don't believe in. I don't believe in the boogie monster, but I don't go around posting signs about it.
That may be, but it is just that..HIS opinion....
and he is pretty much spot on. I listen to him whenever I get a chance...which is not often working during the day. LOL.
Well.......that's YOUR opinion.
*I* am not impressed by anyone who can only badmouth someone else.  If McCain has something better to offer, where is it????????
Yes, that is my opinion
and we are all entitled to our own opinion. I don't trust someone who is so evasive about his past, and will not answer questions thoroughly
That is your opinion
I don't agree with it. If killing any life is murder, than don't we all need to be vegetarians?
oh....so if an opinion comes from something other than...sm
some left-wing controlled media who is privileged to ride in Obama's private jet it is automatically discounted? Rense may talk about UFO sitings, but he also covers a variety of other things as evidenced by his home page. A journalist is not required to reveal his/her sources.....so says the LA Times. LOL
in your opinion...
What is the normal outcome of a pregnancy? Generally speaking, a child. Those two merged cells, if left alone, even by your way of thinking, will become a child unless someone screws with them. Perhaps, instead of teaching your daughter that if she becomes pregnant, that it is okay to stop this life from becoming the child that it should become, you should teach her to not become pregnant. There are other ways to avoid pregnancy than the pill.
just my opinion
I think American car makers will be forced to produce green cars by the government, and will not be allowed to fail, but forced to comply, and I will be the first in line to buy one.
my opinion on that -
My opinion is if they were taking naps and playing cards, then they were not needed. It looks to me like that kind of waste is what the problem is.

If they were only needed sometimes, then there should have be some kind of on call system or something so that they are not wasting their money paying them to take naps and play cards.
for m: opinion......s/m
You should broaden your mindset and not make generalized statements and then try unsuccessfully to retract them.
If I have sex and the consequence is a baby, then I and my partner created this child.
But, that is just your opinion, you have
can either give us a reliable source or just suck it up and accept the fact that he is still alive and well.

based on your dark interpretation of facts.  I look at the same data - Obama's record, his choice of high-level officials and see a hopeful future.  What you believe and forecast is an OPINION based on a skewed filter, surely not accurately predictive.
