Same old liberal blather...
we're for the little guy... blah blah blah.  The big wig Democrats don't a crap about the little guy, only his vote.  If the woes of the lower class working stiffs could be fixed, they'd have been fixed already.  A Democrat has been in office along enough in the last 40 years to do that, but it never gets done.  Not in 8 yrs of Clinton, or anybody before him.  You know why?  Because the plight of the poor isn't the government's fault.  It's not the rich man's fault either.  But nobody wants to say what the problem is for fear of hurting somebody's feelings.  Or better yet, if they problem were actually fixed, who would the Democrats get to vote for them?  They NEED there to be racism, and poverty, and inequality (imagined or real).  It's really quite sad.
We could require passing an IQ and
It should apply to those wanting to have kids first, too!

BAHAHA ... I am KIDDING - please no flames. Just kidding!

Require = force
xx
Not all states require 2...most will take a DL...
and we already know that most of the illegals in this country have a DL. Not every state requires that you prove citizenship to get a DL. Some states will take one of those picture ID's you can get anywhere and let you vote. Some states don't require any ID and most certainly don't ask for a SS card. If they did, that would nix it in a heartbeat. I came from PA and they don't require an SSN, just a DL, and only once when you register. After that, it is never checked again. Where I live now they do not require an SSN. Only a DL when you register.

Too busy for blather and babble...
Which places me at distinct disadvantage when it comes to being on a level playing field. Rather than give you the satisfaction of taking that ball and running with it, being that rt-wingers love to have that last, best word and, when all else fails, to deploy their kick-em’when their down weaponry (one of their more notorious modus operandi), I have come to a decision.

GT/GW/BK is going to grant your wish and trot on off into the sunset where the first order of business will be to wash off all the mud and slime of slur and slander. My absence will remove your forum for all these trite tantrums and tirades. Besides, I have more that adequately illustrated the points I was trying to make. Your ignorant bigotry exposed itself, so I didn’t have to bother much with that. But as long as you insist on preaching sermons that polarize us from one another and couch them in contexts every bit as distasteful and hateful as you find Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s creed, there will always be enough “vitriol” coming from all sides, if that is the way you prefer to play your cards and tone you chose to set in your posts. Your bully tactics will never succeed in scaring off those who are willing to step forward to advocate for minority interests, human rights and diginity, inclusion and equality. Pull as many punches and take as many jabs as you like. There are plenty where those come from on both sides of an argument.

So from behind the cloak of chat room pen name anonymity, GT/GW/BW will be settling into retirement, composing brand new posts and looking for worthy opposition and viable solutions, not fringe fanatics and bar room brawls.
PS: FPJ, one in the same. The plagiary ball is back in your court, where it belongs. Interesting, though, just in case FPJ was an entirely different indivudual, you were already spinning "channeling" theories which you then tried to use to insult a hologram, discounting any possibility that FJP could conceivably be speaking on her own behalf. Ciao for now. It's been fun.
Why did you post this babbling blather?
????
But if it was babbling blather from the other side,
nm
The key words are mandatory and require
This is not "volunteer". This is not "you get a choice". This is a requirement and you don't have a say.

Here is a statement about the Hitler youth's written by someone who lived under it:

School children were officially 'encouraged' to join by school teachers,
party members. parents, government etc.
It was a fun thing to do with marching, singing, drums, bugles, target
practice, summer encampments etc. Things a kid would love to do.
Members were selected for inclusion, those of doubtful ancestry were not
permitted to join, members were led to feel they were a of a select
group, the future of Germany
It was the right thing to do, there was little analytical divergent
outspoken opinion permitted or opposition to joining as there might well
be today, those that wouldn't join were suspect or at least viewed as
unpatriotic.
I can well understand the desire to join and those that did should not
be condemned.

Also, once you are part of this "civilian force" you will do as you are told. They may call it something to make you feel "patriotic", but it's just another branch of a different kind of military. Guess you could call it the Obama youths.
To make it easier for some people, I tallied the votes (sm)

O did not vote  on the issues 289 times. He voted yea 220 times and voted nay 128 times.

I haven't had the time to really check out the yea's or nay's but I will in the next couple of days.

Does Obama's healthcare plan require
everyone to participate.  My husband is a state employee with family coverage for $17.00 per pay.  We have excellent medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage.  I am not interested in changing that.  Does Obama want to provide the same coverage for everyone or just provide coverage for those without?
Held my nose and watched the same O'Reilly blather
made his pathetic atempt to delcare war on the NY Times, Rasmussen, etc. This is what sore losers do when they feel themselves in freefall. O'Reilly got his drawers in an uproar because he and Focks are down in the ratings and is'nt used to the idea of being #3 behind Olbermann, Cooper et all. Poor Bill.
Heard the same blather from the Oreilly rumor factor
the NY Times, Rasmussen, Gallup, etc., all in response to his dive in the ratings, taking third place behind KO and RM on MSNBC and AC on CNN. "They MUST be rigged," he blustered in protest. You don't like polls? Fine. Check out the electoral map.

New Bush rule makes it easier to hire foreign workers

Dec 10, 8:43 PM EST

Administration changes to farm worker hiring afoot

By SUZANNE GAMBOA
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- As it prepares to leave office, the Bush administration is moving to make it easier for U.S. farming companies to hire foreign field workers, which farmworker groups say will worsen wages and working conditions.

Farm groups said that changes to the H2A visa program, used by the agriculture industry to hire temporary farm workers, were posted on the Labor Department's Web site at midnight Tuesday but have since been taken down.

Labor Department spokesman Terry Shawn said whatever was posted wasn't the final version of the new rule, which Shawn said would be released Thursday and published in the Federal Register on Dec. 18.

The Bush administration published a proposed version of the new rule last Feb. 13 and received nearly 12,000 public comments, Shawn added. The next version will be a final rule and can take effect 30 days after publication. Some of its provisions would take effect in mid-January and others later in the year, the farmworker groups said.

Farm worker advocates and the United Farm Workers union said the version that appeared on the Web site would lead to a flood of cheaper workers.

"The government has decided to offer agriculture employers really low wages, low benefits, no government oversight to bring in foreign workers on restricted visas and thereby convince them they should do this instead of hiring undocumented workers," said Bruce Goldstein, executive director of Farmworker Justice, a group that advocates for farmworkers.

The changes in the posted version would drop a requirement that an employer get the Labor Department to certify it faces a worker shortage before it can get visas for foreign workers; instead, employers would be allowed to simply attest in writing to a shortage. That version of the new rule also would change the method for calculating wage minimums for workers and relieve employers of a requirement to recruit in states or communities where other employers already are hiring farm workers, Goldstein said.

But Assistant Labor Secretary Leon Sequeira said Wednesday evening the agency is not dropping the obligation to obtain certification, which is required by law.

Paul Schlegel, American Farm Bureau public policy director, said many of the changes will make the program a little less burdensome for employers. He said existing laws prevent employers from hiring foreign workers if the jobs can be filled by U.S. workers.

"My members want to make sure they have a legal supply of labor," said Schlegel, who added that he had not reviewed all the proposed changes.

The rule changes are a part of a pattern of last-minute regulatory changes being rushed into effect by the Bush administration before President-elect Barack Obama's Jan. 20 inauguration.

The effect is to make it harder for Obama to change course on some policies favored by Republicans and the business community.

"We are hopeful that the Obama administration would recognize the utter mistake and unfairness of this proposal," Goldstein said. Congress has a procedure for reversing the rules, he said.

Many of the last-minute changes by the Bush administration have come in the area of public lands and the environment, including easing regulations on mining waste and allowing handguns in national parks. Another pending rule would grant greater leeway to railroads to transport hazardous materials through densely populated areas.

Yea, you get an A for effort.......now
poverty will go through the roof under Obama.

Unemployment will skyrocket under Obama because there will be millons fewer jobs when he is done taxing the h@ll out of corporations and smaller businesses to the point they have to cut employees.

Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae - well, there's enough blame on both sides to go around for that fiasco and remember you have the power to kick their sorry butts out of office.

It is, unfortunately, about picking the lesser of the 2
and since McCain has chosen Palin, I am starting to swing the other way. Like you with Obama, I do not trust her and do not share a lot of her values. And before someone calls me a baby murderer, I do not believe in abortion. It is many of her other issues, and I really don't want to get into an abortion debate.
Picking and choosing...(sm)
when we want majority rule to count....Hmmmm.  That sounds exactly like what the religious community did when they pushed to get it on the ballot.
You must be picking up some of the same stations
where Palin hears Putin rear his ugly head and coach her on foreign policy issues. Transmissions from the parallel universe don't count.
But he will make not effort to
stop the continuing or our jobs being shipped to India because we are just unskilled labor workers and India is cheaper than we are.
Picking anyone up off the street........sm
In looking further into al-Marri's case, I see that he did have charges of credit card fraud and making false statements to the FBI (you just don't mess with those guys!) so apparently he was not held illegally. I don't see this setting a precedent for unjust arrests of American citizens just going about their business.

As to your second paragraph....ROFL!! Count your lucky stars!
Thank you for your effort, TH! You made
a terrific try with this issue and I think you have a great idea! Don't give up, you are doing a great job discussing this.
In an effort to provide some information sm
I was on vacation when the posts were made, but a friend of mine copied them and sent them to me.  They were no exactly death threats, but under a post wishing President Bush Happy Birthday, there were two posts saying something to the effect that they hoped Bush died and burned in hell.   Also, every single thing you accuse conservatives of in this long post, every SINGLE thing, has been committed on this board by liberals.  You might also notice that most of the conservative posters have stopped coming over here, something the liberal posters have not been able to do, as their drive-by postings still appear sporadically and predictably.
I really don't see Obama picking Pelosi for
x
As sexist as McCain is for picking her.
xx
No effort required. Just one finger.
(And that would be the middle one, of course.)
At least they make an effort to be fair

the other major media (especially MSNBC) is far to the left.  So your point IS?

I wish Tim Russert was still here.  He was someone you could trust to be totally objective and get the answers.  RIP Tim.

It does take a lot of effort and time to plan how

Not picking a fight, truly curious

As a nonbeliever what do you think it is that makes you feel good inside when you do something good?  I don't know much about atheists, always thought there wasn't much to know, except they don't believe in God and so I would assume when they die they believe that everything stops right there.  I feel that there has to be a better life in the world to come so I am asking a sincere question which is thought provoking at least to me.  If a loved one dies, how do you deal with it?  What happens to them.  When you die what happens to you?

She is picking at Old Testament stuff
which if she read the Bible all the way through she would know that the coming of Christ fulfilled all the Old Testament requirements and therefore we are not required to have a "fattened calf" for sacrifice, etc.

Now I see why Coulter was picking on the Jersey Girls. sm

Remember these are the family members/survivors not the so-called lefty wacko conspiracy theorists.

After fighting the White House for a year, the 9/11 families learned in November 2002 they would finally get their independent investigation. President Bush's first act was to name former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to chair the 9/11 Commission.

The families would soon confront Kissinger about some disturbing skeletons they had discovered in his closet.

Congratulations! Your nonsupport of the war effort is working! sm
You must be so proud. What the left has realized finally come to fruition.  Why exactly do you think the Taliban and all the other islamic terrorists feel emboldened?  Got a clue?
What it probably is....is the ongoing effort of those who shall remain nameless...
but have a lot to gain by Obama losing this election.
It takes no effort at on on the part of 'cleverness'

Wonder if Nancy Grace will make an effort to
to bring this to light and declare how sick and cruel this was. And then question on and on and on why this would have happened. She works for CNN....doubt it.
Looks like foreign ears are picking up on the right wing...sm
chatter about Obama's birth certificate. People spreading ilk about Obama are not doing our country any favors.
Next time, make the effort to remove the pictures. SM

They don't come out.  Also, the colors obscure the names of the people who made the quotes making them worthless.  How is one to argue about who said the quote if you can't read it.

It is not the same at all, not picking on a specific group, race, or ethnicity....sm
as a matter of fact, some of my worst dictators are AMERICAN, they hate dictating and so act like little kids and speed talk, trip all over their words, slur everything together, mispronounce without correcting themselves, chew, burp, rattle papers and x-rays, etc., and then will correct several paragraps because they "forgot" this or that. At least foreign docs have an excuse, and many try to enuniciate clearly, spell things, out, etc. There is no comparison here...complaining about high percentage of difficult docs in your queue is not the same as drawing a "cartoon" that points directly in one direction, is poorly disguised, and is dispersed and disseminated in a national, hugely circulated newpaper.
or maybe a BOOK

try one.  You might like.

Bible not bad book at all...
...and should have its basic tenets taught right alongside of those of the Qur'an and the holy books of all other major world religions. Students of any age who wish to read the Bible in my opinion should certainly be able to do so anytime they wish. Same for all other holy/religious writings. A person's education really isn't complete without a fundamental understanding of all of the religions that shape our world.

I would however sign any petition that forces anyone to do anything in the spirit of indoctrination or exclusion, or against any requirement that implies that THIS is the one true holy book and you WILL read it even if your negligent atheist going-to-hell-parents wouldn't force you to do it at home (and we're coming for them soon too - better join us if you know what's good for you). Unfortunately that is how this kind of requirement is perceived by many people in our current political climate - including me. And unfortunately, I believe this is exactly the attitude held by those who try to force such requirements into the public schools.

I don't think it qualifies as a "random act of kindness" - but rather as a deliberate act of religious supremacism.

I can see the title of her next book now...sm
*The Liberals Took My Voting Rights.* She's such a nutjob!
But every book she writes goes to #1. sm
She is unbelievably wealthy and she can always fall back on her law degree.  I don't think she is hurting.
Woodward's book

Cannot wait to read Woodward's new book, however, most of us with eyes wide open have known this even before Bush's war.

YIPES!  Foley..what were you thinking?  Do as I say, not as I do?

Concerning Chavez's remarks.  What better place to scream and holler than at the UN?  There have been many heated debates and speeches over the years.  Secondly, America, land of freedom and free speech, even for foreigners.  I have no problems with what Chavez said, in fact, I agree with him.  The democratic leaders who spoke out against Chavez and defended the president need to realize that if the shoe was on the other foot, do they actually think Bush, Cheney, Rove, Snow, Rice, Rumsfeld would defend them?  Republicans play dirty, there is proof of that all around, Democrats try not to, however, it has gotten us no where.  It is time to play as dirty as the other side.  Chavez did not state lies, he stated the truth.  If you do not agree, explain then our foreign policy for the last 50+ years, explain our presence in Iraq, even as most Iraqi's are wanting us out or dead.  Bringing Democracy to Iraq, oh please. You cannot force an ideology on people with the barrel of a gun.  When we do leave Iraq, whenever that is, it will not resemble any type of Democracy that we have ever seen.  We have given a gift to Iran with our invasion of Iraq.

Book Proceeds
Yep, was just posting information. Funneling the money to the kids is a way to get the book published. I am sure there are under-the-counter things going on, and I figure the Brown and Goldman families will tie it up anyway as well they should. As to those poor kids...I don't know if there are anough couches in the US to fix them. And that sociopath father of theirs could not care less. If he cared one whit about those kids he would not have murdered their mother and left her mutilated body lying on the sidewalk for them to possibly find. Sick, sick puppy.
That is unsubstantiated....out of a book some...
guy wrote who said "three Arizona reports on condition of anonymity" told him they overheard it. Chalk this one up to unsubstantiated rumor in my books. If someone knows of a link where McCain admitted this, I would be interested in it. If it is true, she should have slapped the cr*p out of him. I am not so naive as to think that other Presidents have not called their wives foul names and vice versa. I can just imagine during the Clinton years.... lol ....remember all the unsubstantiated rumors about Hillary using the "F" word to the secret service people and calling them all kinds of names? I think that is what is happening here. Any time someone says they speak on condition of anonymity makes me suspicious out of the gate.
Book banning VP?

If SP tried to ban library books as mayor, what will she do if she becomes president, which is very likely since JM is not healthy. Isn't there something in the bill of rights about freedom of speech?  I am a book lover and this really makes me angry.

http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1837918,00.html

Former Mayor John] Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor.

I would like to suggest a book.....
"People of the Lie" by M. Scott Peck, MD - excellent book and he makes reference to several other books that are good reads. This book is about the true meaning of evil - from a scientific perspective. It is not about "possession" but he participated in a few exorcisms performed by many people of different faiths, he said (and don't quote me) that the basic requirement was just that the participants love the afflicted enough to want to help them. He states that "possession" is extremely rare, but he witnessed it up close and personal when the patient was thought to be mentally ill. I have owned this book for years and every time I lend out my copy and don't get it back, another one presents itself at a yard sale, library book sale, whatever.
You really should read a book about his...
career. And then you should read on his website what he proposes for this country. And then you should read up on socialism. Not saying that to be demeaning. I don't think he is a socialist...I KNOW he is a socialist.
