Looks like the good people of Connecticut made the right choice. sm

In a conference call with reporters Wednesday night, Cheney implied that US Senator Joe Lieberman's (D-CT) loss to anti-war challenger Ned Lamont was a victory for al Qaeda types.

If Lieberman is neocon friendly, you want to definitely aim the Raid can in his direction.

Want to take a wild guess on who Cheney meant by al Qaeda types? Christianne Amanpour from CNN is comparing 911 truthers and liberals to al Qaeda and the alleged terrorist threat yesterday.

I think she made a good choice up until
she gave one of her reasons as Palin's Penecostal faith which I do not believe should be a consideration.  I am not a Pentecostal, a professed Methodist, although I don't believe all of their teachings. I would not vote for ANY candidate just because they happened to say they were of the Methodist faith.
Thank you for saying this; I too made that choice due to sm
having an anencephalic baby. Hardest thing I ever did. I posted about it on another MT board years ago and was flamed like you would not believe. Very painful.
I think that was a good choice also.
Biden has over 30+ years experience and isn't afraid to voice his opinion if he disagrees with an issue.  Great choice and can't wait for them to WIN!!  Be real people - can you see Cindy McCain (druggie) as a first lady?  She's afraid of her own shadow and it's like watching paint dry when she talks!  Okay, Michele needs to spruce up that wardrobe but she's got more brains then McCain and Cindy put together.
For all you pro-choice people
who cry and whine about the government staying out of their uterus.....well how about this.....government stay out of my family.  What right does the government have in allowing any underage teenage girl to undergo ANY procedure without the consent of her parents?  You can't get anything pierced and you can't get a tattoo without consent from a parent, but by all means you can have an abortion?  That is just nuts.  This is just wrong.  I think places should be required to notify the parents of any underage teenager wanting an abortion.  They are minors and the parents have the right to know and be involved.  The government has NO RIGHT to stick their nose into any parent's rights and take that away.
No, no, no, no, no Hillary would NOT be a good choice.
I don't know how much more clear it needs to be. Obama's campaign understands this and why Hillary supporters don't I don't get. Hillary is NOT the best choice for VP. She is one of the worse people in government. Her history speaks for itself. She was a horrible first lady, she has no experience, Obama would always be looking over his shoulder as to when his assassination would happen so she could just "stroll in and take over (that is just a fact whether you want to believe it or not!), and we certainly do not need Billy walking around the white house with nothing to do. They are the two slimiest people ever. She has no experience that she claims she has. For as many people who like her she has twice as many who absolutely hate her and for good reason. And those are the democrats who will vote for McCain if she was to be the pick for the VP (me being one of them). One sure way to lose an election for Obama is to pick her as a running mate. With all the stuff she pulled on him how in the world would you expect him to trust her. I've posted many time about what Hillary is all about with facts of what she has done over her career to get where she is and people just want to forget it or say, oh that's okay that she did all the stuff she did. I say the smartest thing for her is to go back to the senate. After all when she first started running she did say being in the senate was a good job so she should be happy to go back. Just keep her out of the news stories for awhile (like the next 20 years). Once again...Hillary and Obama would make a horrible team. People are starting to wake up and they stopped calling it the Dream Team and they are calling it what it is "A Nightmare Team".
Many religious people are pro-choice.
.
So this article is saying these people won because they are pro-choice?
I am always amazed at how far people will go to advance their agenda.  I daresay Sherrod Brown won because Ohio was sick of the do-nothing Republicans, i.e., Taft and Dewine.  Oregon and California are majorly liberal states.  I don't see much to crow about here.
You anti-choice people are a bunch of
Get a life, and keep your hands of my body, and every one else's who doesn't happen to agree with you. If you don't like a woman's freedom to choose, then don't choose it yourself. But you sure as he11 aren't going to tell me or anyone else what to do.
People take for granted being able to have any choice whatsoever in what doctor they see
x
Obama is the choice of the educated and smartest people nm
nm
LOL...that one made everyone look good.

Good post. I think you made your point!
Go McCain/Palin 2008
Good, I made my point, but I won't move on.
Too bad for you.
Nope, she just made me think I really don't like rude people...

In day to day life or on this forum.

Lila appears to have an ax to grind with her passive-aggressive insults and no real knowledge or insight to share.

As I said, I don't care for rude people, whether liberal or right-wing or out of the box completely.

People are such hypocrites. If Bush had made the
nm
That's good to hear. The link made it seem credible. nm

I thought Brunson made a good point down below.
One of the reasons the antiwar protesters have not been taken more seriously is that they have personalized this against Bush and not against war.  I do think it is possible to separate the two.  But I also think that protesting in the streets puts our military at risk, in fact I know that it does.  The pen is a mighty weapon.  Senators and congressmen and women want to be reelected.  Sitting in front of the WH with a bullhorn and shouting obscenities and name calling to the President of the United States is not going to ever work.  And it shows a distinct lack of respect, if not for the man, then for the office and the White House itself.
George Soros is having "a very good recession". Made $2.9 billion.

So, this "man of the people" who funds the loony left and wants all the rest of us to be communists rakes in $billions from the recession.  He's out there picking up stuff at bargain-basement prices just like JP Morgan and his kind did.

Disgusting.

Again my point is made - you just like arguing and bashing people that don't agree with you
Your bringing up a dead subject while shouting it at us. You started an abortion post on 8/25 and bashed everyone who didn't agree with you, and you were bashing people on 8/22 about the same subject. Everytime someone brought up their viewpoint you be arguing or bashing them. The point I (and others) are making is you keep bringing this up again and again and again and again and when people don't agree with you you bash them, then when they come back to say something you bash them even more. Then when we finally get a break and have new topics, you start another post about the abortion thing again. The abortion issue is getting tiring for all. We know what abortions are, how horrible they are, and we know how babies are made and the stages of their lives (we are MT's and all took the course) but you feel the need to keep it up and up and up and it's getting real old. Besides that it looks like you are posting under other names and then answering yourself.

I want to read people's opinions and questions of issues we are facing. Abortion is not one of them for most of us. Let it go and move on. What I am trying to say is that while I'd like to hear your viewpoints on other issues enough with the abortion and try and not be so argumentative all the time.

Yes, we all have the right to post things, but it looks like you are posting just for the sake of arguing and we're all getting tired of it.

So go ahead bash me some more.
Good for you! Most people would not recognize good...sm
character if it hit them over the head, just sheep who follow along without thinking for themselves, believing the political pundit spitting out garbage.
I don't feel the need to make the choice. It's a child, not a choice. n/t

To gt and the other good people on this board

They're back, and they're back with a vengeance.  Their pitiful little lives must be going very badly for them, poor babies.  Maybe winter has arrived, and they realize they can't afford to heat their homes, and they're upset and angry.  Or maybe they're just basically hateful, vengeful people who have to evict all the old built-up hatred in their tiny hearts to make room for new anger and hatred to reside.

Either way, they just can't seem to leave us alone.  I suggest we ignore every single post -- don't even read it and don't respond to it.

There are some people for whom reason is beyond reach, and all we do is feed their hatred.

I say we ignore them until their current hate *wave* passes.

And lots of people are good at
POUNCING. ;-)
People pay good money to have their links

show up under a certain word search.  Do you actually think that this happened by pure chance, or because the google search engine defaults the word failure to immediately pull this POS site by happenstance?  It was paid for.  What's even more hilarious is how much this poor schlump parted with for that privilege.  You all seriously need to find some adult topics to talk about instead of thinking that google has a liberal's brain.

Being kind to other people feels good, too.
Bigotry in the name of religion - Que lastima!
People are ignoring Sally, and for good reason.
nm
Yeah, it was, sorry.....I just don't think poking fun at sick people is a good thing to do....
and that was the thread. I think we are ALL better than that, much better things to talk about than that. So, I apologize...I will keep my indignation on the part of those who are the butt of jokes because of physical deformities to myself. I am better than stinging rebuttals myself..I will take my own advice.

Have a good day, vv, my friend.
You think people smashing store windows and setting fires is good?
if you codone that then you have serious issues.
I thought he gave a good speech. I hope all people listened

Choice
The three posters chose not to post anymore.  No one ran them off.
Pro-Choice
I am pro-choice and here is why. My dad was a big city cop before Roe v. Wade. He told me true stories of woman dying from botched illegal abortions. Many times, they found women who had bled to death because they tried to abort the babies themselves with coat hangers. Other times, they found women dead from sepsis. This was in the days before ambulances when the cops answered all the medical calls.

He was anti-abortion but seeing all these dead young woman haunted him. He saw a lot of awful, gruesome stuff where he worked and eventually became somewhat hardened to it, but these cases he could never forget.

I am not pro-abortion but it is going to happen. It can either be legal and somewhat safe, or illegal and dangerous.
my choice

would be change with demonstrated ability to appreciate the complexity of situations and the willingness to listen to all views on the subject.  precisely why I am an ardent Obama supporter.

Again, for those of you who are pro-choice...
and against hunting, fishing, etc,  could you please explain the difference between killing something for food or because it is a menace to livestock as opposed to killing a child because it's not the right time for a baby, oops I got pregnant by "accident", oops I don't want children, etc. Again, it is rather ironic that one can be selective in their definition of killing.
whose choice?
seriously, where do you draw the line? i mean a 2-year-old is not old enough to make a "choice" of life or death, so you think it's okay to rid of them too?
choice
I do not think there is a person on here who is in favor of 3rd trimester abortion, etc. The thing is folks, that if abortion is abolished, it not only effects those who haven't learned of birth control use (and I don't feel sorry for them) but those in real need such as rape victims, maternal distress, etc. That is the trouble here, you can't do away with abortions entirely, though a lot of people have abused it. We don't need women resorting to butchers as they did in the past. Look, if someone is wanting one, they are going to have it, legal or not. We have to make it the same as any other medical procedure in this country.. you see your doctor, you make arrangements for the procedure to be done in the hospital through a referral.
what choice
When Obama wins, the repubs will no choice but to accept that fact.  I cant wait to get out of the Bush admin and have a change.  The last eight years has sunk our country.
There is another choice.....sm
for president. Check out Chuck Baldwin and the Constitutional Party. Warning: He is VERY conservative, so all you liberals need not look. ;o)

http://www.baldwin08.com/
Actually under O you will have no choice
The dems are talking about a draft. O has already starting talking about it being a requirment for college students. Yes REQUIRE, not option.

http://kokonutpundits.blogspot.com/2008/11/obamas-new-youth-corp-requirement.html

Going to war is your choice...not ours.
Those who choose to elect war-mongers should be the ones sent to battle. Those who choose to elect peace-loving Presidents should not be forced to serve. That is why there are conscientious objectors.

I think you summed it up when you described the lack of intelligence involved in being the first to enlist.
I don't think we will have any choice. (sm)
As you said, people will do whatever they have to feed thier families.  I also think before it's over with, we'll have to get a board for gardening on this site...LOL.
Bad choice, but he had to do it (sm)
IMHO, Obama made a deal with the Clintons in order to get elected and now it's pay up time. Look at all the Clintonites he's got surrounding him - the positions have changed, but all the faces are the same. All we need is Madeline Albright in there somewhere.
It is my choice, and I don't believe it.
Scare tactics are a dime a dozen in religion.
No, I think the choice was hers...(sm)
but that's the point.  She had the choice of either having the baby or not, as opposed to being forced into having the baby, which is exactly what outlawing abortion would do.
What exactly do you think Pro Choice is?
Pro Choice means you believe a woman has the right to decide what to do with her body - exactly how do you figure Obama is not Pro Choice?

And he is not saying that women are going to be required to abort their unborn - he is saying they are going to have the right!
That's your choice
and God gives you that right.

Christianity is very much based on fact just as it is on faith. The faith comes from having faith that Jesus' death was sufficient for all. The facts have been shown through archeology and even science.

If the Bible was scrutinized the way other ancient literature has been, it would be found to be true and consistent within itself, but because there is preconceived notions held by those who scrutinize, such as the "fact" that miracles cannot happen, it is believed to be incorrect, myth if you will.

I used to be just like you. I used to think that Christians were rude Bible-thumping bigots who tried to take the corner on Heaven. But when I finally dropped my bias and read the Bible as I would any other book and once I let people actually speak their peace to me, I came to the logical conclusion that Jesus was real, He was the Godman, and He was the Lord. Reading the Bible through you cannot help but notice the consistency and fluidness that runs through it. The OT is the story of the promise God made, and the NT is God fulfilling that promise.

I was not raised in a church, I was not taught about Jesus by my parents. I was not forced to go to Sunday School and I was not forced to be baptized. I made a decision. A decision has to be made with your mind, your emotion and your spirit. It's a three part deal. Many people make emotional decisions and once the emotion is gone, so is the decision. Many people make logical decisions, but the decision is never personal for them, so neither is the relationship with God. Many times the spirit tries to guide someone to the decision, but the person feels logically or emotionally that they cannot.

I may come off as brash because I don't take the "we are all on the same path route" as some do. I would be wrong in doing so, and I would be denying what my Lord explicitly said. To do so would have serious repercussions for me. Therefore, I choose to do what He says and have people not like me, rather than do what people would have me do and deny the One who died for me.

And that is your choice
You choose that belief; I don't. If you want to lead a life ruled entirely by Biblical law, maybe you could all band together and buy an island or something and call it Christganistan. This is a secular country, founded to get away from the idea that there is one true way to live one's life.

The more the so-called tolerant Christians write here, the less difference I see between Radical Islam and Fundamental Christian. It's two sides of the same coin, and it saddens me that this country, founded on principles of individual choice, has seemingly regressed in that regard.
It is NOT a choice.
You keep on with this ridiculous choice bit, but homosexuality is not a choice anymore than being blond or tall or having blue eyes is a choice. It is what the individual is born as.
Sure it's a choice.
God says it is. I believe Him not you. Sorry...
thank you and I like #2 choice. nm..
x
I don't know where they want to go with it, but abortion is a choice..sm
and last time I checked it was not limited to one race. Can that same one prove that more blacks abort than whites? There goes that theory.
A word about choice
I think we have probably said all that we can say on that matter, and we won't agree, but I enjoyed speaking with you.

I just want to add a word about women who support choice. It seems that many people are quick to judge a woman that supports choice, stating that she must have had an abortion or would be willing to have one. I can only speak for myself, a few friends, and family members, but I can tell you that in our case, this it entirely not true. My sister always states that she is, Personally conservative, but politically liberal. I do have a few friends who had had abortions, but I do not believe that I could ever have one myself, and though I would stand by my daughter if that was a choice she made, I would be devastated inside. So, while this is not a choice I would make, I will still support the right to choose for other women. In an ideal world, there would be no unwanted pregnancies, but until there is, I will always stand for choice.

Peace.
