LOL. I don't like Nancy Pelosi either.

You are saying then that Nancy Pelosi would...
make a better President than Sarah Palin. Are YOU kidding ME???
Nancy Pelosi should have been
thrown out a long time ago.
Nancy Pelosi
With her election as Speaker, Nancy Pelosi is the first female Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. She is also the first Italian-American and first Californian to serve as Speaker. As Speaker of the House, Pelosi ranks second in the line of presidential succession, following Vice President Joe Biden, which makes her the highest-ranking female politician in United States history.
I love Nancy Pelosi!
I think she is doing a wonderful job and hope she continues to do so for years to come. We need more people like Nancy Pelosi in government. In case you are not aware of what she has accomplished during her career, here is a link that you may find very educational.

Nancy Pelosi would cuddle

these types of people in this story below.  We need to secure our borders instead of cuddling illegal aliens. Please read.

Houston Police Officer Richard Salter was shot in the face last week while serving a drug warrant and is in critical condition. Doctors are optimistic because recently Salter, a 27 year vet and the top narcotics officer in Houston, moved two of his fingers. It has now been released that Wilfido Joel Alfaro, 29, a drug smuggler with multiple run-ins with the law in both the US and Mexico, was an illegal alien from El Salvador and had deportation orders. He was arrested multiple times after being ordered to leave the United States, but remained here due to sanctuary city policies.

Mayor Bill White of the sanctuary city of Houston, Texas was quick to point the finger at the federal government rather than taking responsibility for his actions in making Houston a haven for illegal aliens and drug smugglers. It is really sickening that these "leaders" are quick to wash their hands of any responsibility.

It took the Mayor nearly a week to release details that Alfaro - who was killed during the incident - was an illegal alien and that there were multiple times that Alfaro could have been removed from this country. Of course Bill White didn't acknowledge that if Houston actually actively worked with the feds instead of harboring illegal aliens this police officer would not have been shot. Mayor Bill White is a disgrace to the whole of the United States of America.

In an interview I saw on TV tonight (Update: I added the interview video at the end of this entry) Michael Berry of KTRH said that Alfaro's "residence" was basically a $40,000 home that was frequented by gang members and was a known drug haven that was defended by a $50,000 security system fully equipped with multiple cameras, sensors and burglar bars on all the windows. Basically a fortress. It was also revealed that the wife of Alfaro is part of the Avila crime cartel and that her cousin Bruno Avila shot and killed the first female Hispanic cop in Houston last year.

There can be no greater disrespect for law enforcement than knowingly putting them in harms way by allowing a criminal element to reside in your city unchallenged and then being arrogant enough to shrug when one is shot in the face. Mayor White's response to this tragedy is the equivalent of a shrug and every American should be outraged!

They should waterboard Nancy Pelosi. All she does
nm
I just saw Nancy Pelosi in a press conference...
and I was reminded of the interviews I have seen her in...and frankly...Palin does a HECK of a better job than she does....and nobody seems to mind that.  Bear in mind, if, God forbid, something happened to both Pres and VP guess who we get:  NANCY PELOSI.  She is TWO heartbeats away from the Presidency no matter who gets elected.  Good grief, no wonder they send the VP to an undisclosed location and don't let Pres and VP travel together.  lol.
Obama's Nancy Pelosi Problem

Only 2 excerpts posted here. Read the whole article. Interesting. This may have been posted before and if so, I'm sorry to repeat it.

"...Pelosi has also embraced—even encouraged—her role as Republican enemy No. 1. GOP leaders know better than to go after Obama, whose approval ratings still float around 70 percent. According to Rasmussen, Pelosi is at about 35 percent. "She believes in the president and is willing to take any punches she needs to for him," says a Democratic leadership aide.

But Pelosi isn't taking those shots without getting something in return. In ways that have not always pleased the White House, the Speaker has made it clear to the president that when it comes to House business, he has to go through her. "We are an independent branch of government," she has said repeatedly. Though Pelosi's office denies it, an administration official tells NEWSWEEK that the Speaker asked to be informed whenever the White House contacts a Democratic House member. She also wants to know what the conversation was about...."

Thanks for Nancy Pelosi's e-mail address.
I just sent Nancy Pelosi a note telling her to keep up the good work!
Nancy Pelosi is just plain disgusting. How did she
nm
Nancy Pelosi wouldn't know the truth if it jumped out and bit her....
Nancy is spinning like a top to keep herself out of trouble. Every time she opens her mouth she puts her foot in it again. How many times has she told this story? How many times has it changed?

The fact that this woman is 3rd in line to be president should scare the living daylights out of every single one of us.
Clean Energy Fuels and Nancy Pelosi

My, must be nice. Trying to pass a bill for clean energy and who is going to profit from this? T. Boone Pickens owns Clean Energy Fuels. Nancy and her husband bought #50K-$100K worth of stock in May 2007. No wonder she's pushing it. It means a fortune for her.

Another site states her husband bought the shares alone, but she lives in CA where it's share and share alike.

Let's hope that something doesn't happen both of them and Nancy Pelosi steps in as president.

Nancy Pelosi flies back home to California on our dime...
what's your point?
Nancy Pelosi has become a huge embarrassment and detriment to the Dem party, IMHO......nm
nm
You are right on, but Nancy Pelosi is so darned MILITANT about her leftist views, (registered Dem he
I think some of those mice are running amok in her head. I used to respect her as a strong female role model in politics, but lately she has become just another aggressive, abrasive, cultish Demobot that I am totally sick of her. The more I get into politics, the more I am convinced we need a new system, this two-party system is antiquated and has become just sorry, elitist clubs, us versus them, as America's heart and soul deteriorates, we have become the new Roman Empire, writing our own end...starting with the wrong stimulus bill in this depression. Shame on them all. Sorry for venting, watching C-Span while I work all week!
I would believe Nancy Pelosi before a biased reporter who is Republican, sounds like Palin, no facts

Yup....Nancy is one of a kind...
let us sincerely HOPE.
They are quoting Nancy Pulosi from her
little speech yesterday. You are right. It doesn't take a pub to *read it and weep,* I am a registered Democrat and I have wept myself dry! I have great concern for my country and my grandchildren.
and when Ronald Reagan was prez, NANCY was

And Nancy Palosi hand picked more
than 11 of her people to vote NO, people who owed her favors.
Wonder if Nancy Grace will make an effort to
to bring this to light and declare how sick and cruel this was. And then question on and on and on why this would have happened. She works for CNN....doubt it.
Obama apolgizes to Nancy Reagan

We all know Obama has a sense of humor.  He's likeable and funny and I enjoy hearing him speak.  But he really should think before he speaks, and not try to make jokes.  Americans are needing issues to be solved, not seeing how funny our President elect is.  This is a very serious and grave time for America and we need some reassurance that he will do what he promised on his campaign trail.  He spoke of Hope through his campaign.  Now we need to see the hope turn into reality.  I had read a lot of articles from both liberal and conservative sources that he doesn't do well with "off the cuff" comments and I think he should stick to the speeches that are written for him.

Like I said - I like Obama.  He's a good speaker.  But his comment about Nancy Reagan whether you like her or not was indeed making fun of her and unecessary.  He should have just said, "I've talked to the past presidents" and left it at that.  By him having to state they were alive??? The public is not so stup!d that we wouldn't know he didn't mean the "dead" Presidents.  I hope that's not what he thought.  I'm just glad he called her to apologize.

On another note I watched the press conference he gave and I would have like to have heard a little more about what he's going to do once he gets in the white house, who he is picking for his cabinet, and what are the first things he is going to do to help Americans and what promises he gave to us that he will be able to keep and work on first.  Not what kind of dog he is going to get or where his kids go to school.  That does not affect American and I like many of my friends don't care.  We care about issues that affect us.

Yes, Ronnie and Nancy, and George and Laura...
for one another.

His Kids
I know the "C" story is true. As far as the kids go, he has 7 from what I understand. Two boys in the military and 1 or 2 adopted kids. I stated an opinion about his daughters because any man that would disrespect women the way he has (letting "H" be called the "B" word, laughing and not speaking against it, and then calling his wife a "C" publically), has no respect for women (which include his daughters). Then he comes out with this fake persona that he respects women and he welcomes their vote. Please --- anything to win.
We really would not have know about the kids other than
Palin herself putting them before the public like she did, kept the smaller 1 out of school and people questioned as to why they were not in school. Oh, now it is ne're-do-well beau. I remember what a warm reception he got from John welcoming him into the circle. All white trash, both sides.
Now really, kids!!
I think a lot of it has to do with the attempt to incite violence. While Olberman, Maddow, and the MSNBC crew may be left of center, they don't incite violence. Nor do I think Hannity falls into that category, either. Rush, Rev. Phelps, and Michael Savage are names that immediately pop into my head on the conservative end that seem to like to stir up crap. On the other side, I really wish we could find a way to export Sharpton, but I doubt any other country wants him anymore than I do.

Of course, WE are the country that denied Cat Stevens entrance, too, so I guess we can't get too holier than thou about Britain's keeping out the rabble rousers.
Anyone know why Pelosi is so against this?
It seems every other day we're getting new information that needs to be investigated. I don't understand what the problem is with impeachment?

I guess Clinton should have learned his lesson - it was wrong to lie about who you had sex with, you should've just claimed executive privilege instead!
Think what you want about Pelosi
The facts are the facts no matter your opinion of Pelosi.
More like what was up with Pelosi
I'm trying to concentrate on what Mr. Obama was saying and she kept getting up and down and up and down and up and down. I was getting nauseous and dizzy watching her. She detracted from him, and his speech was important, but I couldn't focus because every other second she kept jumping up and clapping her hands and moving around like a child with that stupid grin on her face. I don't know if anyone else noticed it but it was very distracting. DH and I kept saying we wished Biden would have grabbed her arm and told her to sit still. Either that or if Mr. Obama would have turned around and told her to sit still and quit acting like a child. This is one of those times I would have loved to see him turn around and slap her and told her to behave like an adult not a child. I really wanted to listen to him but instead all I could focus on was her. At one point I closed my eyes to focus on what he was saying but I ended up falling asleep. I wish they'd move their chairs off to the side and not right behind the president's podium. I want to look at the one who is speaking, not the two behind him.

What I would have really have loved to hear Mr. Obama say is - Every senator and person in congress starting with myself, the VP, and Pelosi is that everyone is taking a 25% pay cut and we're putting it back into the economy. No, instead they can all grin up there because none of what happens to us affects them.

Anyway...that was off the topic. Just wondered if anyone else noted the Jack-n-the-box behind him.
Pelosi wants another
"stimulus package."  However, since people have gotten wind of this, a lot have been complaining and I think congress has backed off a little on this.  However, it wouldn't surprise me if this happens.  Obama needs to reign her in before she makes a huge stain on his presidency.
Kids - this is funny.
When Vífill Atlason, a 16-year-old high school student from Iceland, decided to call the White House, he could not imagine the kind of publicity it would bring.

Introducing himself as Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, the actual president of Iceland, Atlason found President George W. Bush's allegedly secret telephone number and phoned, requesting a private meeting with him.

"I just wanted to talk to him, have a chat, invite him to Iceland and see what he'd say," Vífill told ABC News.

A White House official, who asked not to be identified, denied the young man had accessed a private number but instead dialled 202-456-1414, the main switchboard for the West Wing.

Vífill's mother, Harpa Hreinsdottir, a teacher at the local high school, said her son did, in fact, get through to a private phone.

"This was not a switchboard number of any kind," she told ABC News, "it was a secret number at the highest security level."

Vífill claims he was passed on to several people, each of them quizzing him on President Grímsson's date of birth, where he grew up, who his parents were and the date he entered office.

"It was like passing through checkpoints," he said. "But I had Wikipedia and a few other sites open, so it was not so difficult really."

When he finally got through to President Bush's secretary, Vífill alleges he was told to expect a call back from Bush.

"She told me the president was not available at the time, but that she would mark it in his schedule to call me back on Monday evening," he said.

Instead, the police showed up at his home in Akranes, a fishing town about 48 kilometers from Reykjavik, and took him to the local police station, where they questioned the 16-year-old for several hours.

"The police chief said they were under orders from U.S. officials to "find the leak" -- that I had to tell them where I had found the number," he said. "Otherwise, I would be banned from ever entering the United States."

Vífill claims he cannot remember where he got the number.

"I just know I have had it for a few years," he told ABC. "I must have gotten it from a friend when I was about 11 or 12."

Atlason's mother Harpa, who was not home at the time, said she was shocked to find her son had been taken away by the police but could not quite bring herself to be angry with her son.

"He's very resourceful you know," she said. "He has become a bit of a hero in Iceland. Bush is very unpopular here."

Vífill was eventually released into his parent's custody, and no charges have been brought against the high school student.

When ABC verified the number, it was the Secret Service Uniform Division, which handles security for the president.

"If the number were not top secret, why would the police have told me that I will be put on a no-fly list to America?" Vífill asked.

"I don't see how calling the White House is a crime," he added. "But obviously, they took it very seriously."

Calls to the Secret Service press office were not returned.
Maybe the kind that has 3 kids

already and the 4th pregnancy could put her life in peril.  Does she allow her other children to go motherless?

Maybe the kind who underwent extensive testing and was told that her child would be born limbless or so developmentally delayed that any kind of life would be miserable?

Maybe the kind who was raped and does not want to bear the child of a rapist, whether she would be able to put the child up for adoption or not.

A woman's body is her body.  No one should have the right to tell her what to do with it.  There are many reasons to have an abortion.  I personally feel that in the above cases, an abortion is a reasonable option.  I certainly wouldn't wish any of the scenarios above on anyone.  Outlawing abortion in general is wrong.  If you want to prevent it from being used as a form of birth control, then by all means put limitations on it, but don't outlaw it completely.  Sometimes it is the only choice.

Not pro-abortion but definitely pro-choice.  There is a difference.

THis is not about taking anything away from kids...they
still have access to birth control...health departments, planned parenthood, clinics, any number of places. It is common knowledge. You hear about it on television on a daily basis, and television, movies, and the internet are where most kids get their information. And frankly, listen to it much more closely than to their parents. Throwing more federal money into any kind of sex ed and/or abstinence programs to me is a waste of money. That was the original question, did I think federal funds should be used for sex ed and abstinence programs.

No, in this culture we live in today, to remove contraception would be idiotic. Sex has been reduced to "expression," having one partner for life has disappeared, multiple partners are fine, yada yada...in that kind of culture to remove birth control would be nuts. Think what the abortion rate would be if that was done...good grief.

By education and programs that doesn't mean dispensing actual birth control. At many schools kids can get condoms. Nearly every health department in the country will dispense birth control and any planned parenthood place will, and that is not going to change.

If you want to reach kids, put those programs on the internet or introduce that kind of information to the shows the kids watch all the time. If you want the information to get to them, that is where it should be covered.

But the conversation is about kids who are having

things done without the parents' knowledge.

If what kids see is what they think is normal
then where did the gay people come from, assuming they had both a father and a mother?

On another note, I would rather have been raised by Rosie O'Donnell and her partner than my dysfunctional parents. They are much more "normal" than either of my parents.
The UN is not trying to tell anyone how to raise their kids.
in the idea of addressing global poverty. BTW, you need to do a little boning up yourself on the purpose of the United Nations, what it is, how it works and who benefits before expecting anybody anywhere to engage you in any serious debate on this subject. You have been spending way too much time hanging with the fringe. Trust me on this. There is life after fringe.
Why don't you let your kids decide for themselves
what they want to do. I'm glad I had responsible parents who taught me right from wrong, watched me grow, get married, but I also know that if I wanted to be gay they would love me still the same.

Unfortunately too many parents try to control every single aspect of their kids life, and the kids grow up as biggoted and unloving as their parents. Of course I'm not saying that is you, but you just see it too many times on TV.

Parents believe one thing, so they force their kids to believe the same thing, when all along the parents were pretty messed up.

You need to teach your kids on the different lifestyles people in America have and that's why it makes a great nation (or would you rather have the public floggings of gays like they do in the other countries because they don't share the same viewpoints as you). You need to teach your kids the different lifestyles and what it means as a lifestyle for them. Then let them make their own decisions as to what life they wish to choose for themselves.

You need to stop telling people to get a clue because you obviously don't have one.
Hey Kids! Run for President!
But if you screw up we will prosecute you and make sure you're labeled a criminal the rest of your life!!!
I hardly think that teaching kids...(sm)
how NOT to bash LGBTs is going to "force homosexuality upon your kids."  Give me a break!  They aren't teaching Peter how to kiss Paul.  They're teaching Peter how not to beat up Paul.  I think it's really sad that this actually has to be a lessen in school in the first place, and in grammar school at that  --- not because of the LGBT issues being brought to light, but because of the parents who have obviously taught their kids that its okay to bash others who are different.  How many times have you called an LGBT a bad name in front of your kids?  Hmmm....
Some of Pelosi's new rules sm

This is from an article before the elections.  This sure would be a good start in the right direction.

The act is a tough document, authored by Nancy Pelosi, the San Francisco-area congresswomen who has been the Democratic House leader since 2002. She will likely be the House Speaker if the Democrats win next Tuesday.

Here are some of the new rules Pelosi wants:

No House member may accept any gift of any value from lobbyists, or any firm or association that hires lobbyists.

No free travel, which means an end to the corporate jet line every Friday at Reagan National Airport.

No free tickets to Redskins games; or no meals of any value, even at a McDonalds; no front-row seats at entertainment venues. No, no and no.

Temptations resisted

To reduce temptations to cheat, Pelosi's bill attacks the usefulness of members to richly endowed lobbyists.

House members will no longer be able to slip in special-interest projects on unrelated legislation. Such measures will no longer be allowed on a bill once negotiations between the Senate and House are complete.

Further, all bills will be made available to the public a full 24 hours before a final vote; presumably this gives watchdog groups a chance to flag any skullduggery.

Under the Pelosi rules, lobbyists will no longer be able to use the House gym (you'd be surprised how much gets negotiated in a sauna). Lobbyists will no longer be allowed onto the House floor or to use the cloakrooms just off the floor, preventing last-minute arm-twisting.

What's more, no member or staffer will be able to negotiate for employment in the public sector without disclosing such contacts to the House Ethics Committee, and within three days of such contact being made.

Finally, all of this will be audited and investigated by a new Office of Public Integrity, and that office reports, directly and only, to the U.S. Attorneys Office.

At this point, you'd be entitled to ask, heard this before, what makes you think it will be accepted by Congress?

Can it work?

No doubt there will be attempts to water down some of these new regulations. In fact, many of these proposals have been in other bills that have been defeated in the recent past.

But several key congressional experts tell CBC News that Pelosi means business and might just be able to push this through. They put it this way.

Pelosi and the congressional Democratic leadership are not likely to get much credit simply for gaining control of the House.

Conventional wisdom already sees such a victory, should it happen, first and foremost as a repudiation of the Bush administration and the Republicans.

This Honest Leadership and Open Government Act is a way of hitting the bricks running. Plus, it could be enormously popular with voters of all persuasions.

They point out Pelosi herself has little national profile and wants quickly to paint some bold strokes. She promises the act will be the first legislation tackled if she leads a new Congress.

Also, Pelosi can and will extract promises of support from those getting leadership positions and plush committee chairmanships and the like.

These new rules will apply in the House as soon as they are passed by simple majority.

The Senate has different rules, but for Republicans and Democrats there, the pressure to comply with the Pelosi standards will be huge.

Pelosi - NO impeachment.
See video link.
Defying Pelosi...
Good for them. It bears out the notion that most of the seats the Democrats gained were taken by the more conservative Democrats...not the far left like Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Murtha. There is a new wind blowing in America...yes indeed.
Pelosi and Palin

Nancy Pelosi has NO charisma but she is both knowledgeabe and competent. Both parties agree. Even the diehard Republlicans in both houses are embarrassed by John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin and many are  now calling for her to be replaced. I genuinely feel badly for her.........she was chosen only to prove he is a "maverick" and did not strictly follow party lines. She was not given much time to prepare before being thrust in the spotlight. This will probably destroy what could have been a bright future for her.

Seriously, did anyone see her interview with Katie Couric? She has to get "her head arount Putin's"??? I was genuinely embarrassed for her.

I also wondered can't she just look in his eyes like George Bushi did and see his soul?

Are you kidding me? I don't like Pelosi
either but to say Palin does a better job is comical. Let's see how SP does after a few days of stress like Pelosi and the senate have been in, and then give an interview. Palin can't give an interview without days notice to rehearse every possible question.
Pelosi and Palin

I will NEVER post again to this board. Such vitriol from some of the posters and it is not worth it. I  do not like the  feeling of being attacked for a simple statement.

We all have our own personal beliefs and opinions.I am just wondering, though, how many people running for a powerful office  are routinely filmed being blessed by their pastors for "protection against witches".

I also wonder how many "Christians" would slash their state's Special Olympic budget and then objectify their own special-needs child for political gain.
