She is not race-baiting. She was quoting some facts from his book, his own words. sm

She is only putting information out there to try and open people's minds, given them another perspective on the "phenomenon" that is Obama. She is doing the same thing that Sam is doing in other posts on this board, giving information to be used as a reader sees fit. If you think that is race-baiting, then you need to re-think what you consider racist. JMO.

I still think that all this race baiting, etc
by the McCain campaign has not helped matters.  But as they say, Pride goeth before the fall.
your attempts at race baiting

are disgusting and all too obvious to do any damage.  Study the issues we are facing, quit trying to stir up hate.

Amen to that!!. Ann Coulter is an embarrassment to ALL women, period. She is a race-baiting
hateful, tragically misinformed, stunningly inferior shell of  a human being who has been paid by the media to vomit forth inflammatory nonsensical words to the mainstream U.S. who quite frankly, wish she would stick her head up her posterior, exhale and blow herself up.
Read his book, friend....Obama is the one who said it, I was quoting HIM....
he has repeated it in numerous interviews. Thank you for the method of delivery lesson on crack and cocaine (by the way, crack IS cocaine and you can snort it). That being said, I don't think the method of delivery matters. He did cocaine (however he chose to do it, smoke or snort), he says so very openly in his book. He also drank quite heavily for awhile, he also admits drinking. I don't know how he avoided the legal consequences but that doesn't matter. He doesn't say whether he got hooked or not, or how he got un-hooked.

So please do your research before jumping on me.

That being said...I believe him when he says he doesn't do it anymore.

And I have never heard what you just posted about homosexual sex. That is a new one on me.

She's not quoting FACTS

She is pulling racially charged statements out of context.  He was raised in an all white family and had to sort through what being different from others meant.  If you are even afraid of a black man raised by all whites, you are really beyond hope.

Obama's words in his own book
Not trashy words, unless you think his book is trash?  It was a great way to sell out his own grandma, wasn't it?
Give it up sally, they are just baiting you...sm
It is really a shame that you cannot have an intelligent discussion or exchange of information, not rumor or innuendo, on this board, or any other in my experience. As an MT you would not put something in a report that you could not verify, yet over here it is very common. The guy who says he is a college grad is probably 16 years old. They are just getting their jollies stirring the pot.

It is true, and it is minority baiting.....
so much for bringing the country together...what a joke! So much for ethical campaign and "above the fray." Gutter politics at its absolute worst.
What is baiting? It is a simple question. Would they support...
him or would they attack him like they are attacking Bush? Why is that baiting? It is a simple question.
Name calling? Baiting? Show me where I name-called or baited
when I wasn't echoing Ms. Piglet. Why do you guys get so bent out of shape when someone disagrees with you? Good grief. It is an anonymous posting board. lol.
You are quoting Goering!!!!! YIKES!!!!! NM

SS

Limbaugh quoting Moran
You post Molly Ivins...so what's your point?  The post is kinda allegorical to what you are posting tonight.  You're having party while people are dead and dying.
I don't believe you are quoting the Old Testament correctly. sm

Or interpreting it correctly either.  Can you cite me which passages you are referring to?

SHhhh.....you are quoting a source.....
that! Might be something reliable here.
They are quoting Nancy Pulosi from her
little speech yesterday. You are right. It doesn't take a pub to *read it and weep,* I am a registered Democrat and I have wept myself dry! I have great concern for my country and my grandchildren.
I was quoting from a Jewish website publication.
It wasn't "my statement."  And it made perfect sense if you had read the article.  The Gaza strip pull-out was not instigated by the settlers who were moved but by their government which is ISRAELI and is therefore JEWISH.  You should read the news a little more.
You are quoting from the NATIONAL ENQUIRER! Do you remember.....
All of the stuff they printed and continue to print about Clinton.  I didn't even believe it.  I am sure you didn't either, but it's the old double standard. If they say something YOU want to believe, all of a sudden they are credible.  What a freaking joke.
You are quoting Reuters, who have been shown to have doctored photos. TI

You will have to excuse if I don't take this or anything the UN posts as truth.

Those types of words are unnecessary and actually ARE racist words. sm
Those types of phrases are offensive and are intended to be offensive. This election should not be about race. If it is about race for you, then you are probably one of the ignorant people using those words. Very rude!!
Even quoting the New Testament here will not defend the horrifying tragedy what was the Bush adminis
nm
You're right....words are just words...so are Obama's...
...and don't/won't mean anything to many people, myself included.

He is no MLK.

It is a historic moment, of that I have no doubt. And yes, he has come far.

However, one still needs to have strength of character to back the words up for true meaning, and he is sadly lacking in that area.

Facts are facts - sorry you don't like it cos it doesn't support your candidate
You can't change facts. That's what makes them facts. You may not like it but that's the way it is.

Facts are facts. No bash intended.
It will be this stellar record from which voters will be assessing her and her running mate.
If you're offended, too bad. Facts are facts...
I know Muslims in this country who have turned from the hateful evil beliefs that were forced down their throats. They did not have the freedom to learn anything else growing up. But after they gained their freedom and came here, they were able to receive the Word of God and they have told me that NEVER were they taught anything about loving others, just other Muslims, and that the God they learned about spoke of nothing but killing and hate... so if Obama is receiving large donations from those middle eastern countries, as you say, and he is grounded in Muslim culture, being taught this in school for years as a child, do you honestly think he doesn't carry some of those beliefs with him? He's never denounced it.

The subject here is the media and their treatment of Gov. Palin, which continues to this day, to this minute, by the liberal left.

Tthe media threw down their gauntlet as soon as she was picked on that Friday, and hounded her for almost a full week.

And you think she should have waved a white flag at them in her acceptance speech? She put them on notice, that she is above them. And continues to be, with grace and style.

She's not whining, and neither are we.

I just shake my head at your audacity.

The media is the one that started this with her, and you would do well to remember the facts in her case.

IN this case, the facts are the facts.........

this is not about race
of hearing people say it is... i have a feeling that is why mccain has not been as aggressive in this campaign, concerned someone is going to cry "RACISM"...... and should his gloves come off in this next debate, i bet that will be the cry...
Right but again, that has nothing to do with race either nm

It's not about race?

It's not about what kind of job this guy can do, or how well he can lead the country.  No it most certainly has not been!  And I'm sick and tired of everyone making it out otherwise.  It's always been about race and that's all its ever been about!  I'm hopeful that anyone will be able to pull us out of this depression no matter what their color is or whether it be a man or woman.  It's not going to be an easy job.  But all through the campaign and to this day we kept hearing about how it's not about race.  That was the line that this man from Illinois was trying to sell to us.  He'd walk around and tell us he understands what we're going through, it's not about race.  Then he'd talk about his grandmother being afraid of black me (uh, hello..I thought you said it wasn't about race).  When he was elected my brother and his friends went out and celebrated in the streets because now we got a brother in there.  He said to me, "you should be happy because we finally got a brother in the white house who is one of us".  I asked him what does he mean "one of us", that's he's black like us so I should rejoicing and saying hallelulah thank you Jesus.

But this latest display of what he has planned for the innaugeration has got to be the most downright utter distasteful display of "flaunting" his race.  Now at the inaugeration it's going to be a huge "Gone With the Winds" type of theme with ladies in their plantation dresses.  I haven't read it yet, but I'm sure I'll be hearing about him dressing the blacks up like the what our ancestors were dressed when they were slaves.  He has taken racism to a whole new level.  This is disgusting and this is not what the men who founded this country had in mind.  It took us years and years to get through the slavery issues and now here comes Mr. Obama bringing all that sh!t back up again and dividing people.  I've got some friends who are white and nowhere in their history do they have any relatives who owned slaves, but now Mr. Obama is going to make all of them feel as though they are slave owners.  I don't know what it is but why does America seem to get stuck and not be able to move forward.  Instead of looking into the future he's dragging back up the plantation and slavery issues and making a big deal of them.  I am just sick to death of coming on and reading how it's not about race when that's all that it is about.  I voted for Mr. Obama because I like him.  I didn't think he was qualified and he doesn't have the experience, but I'm willing to give a new unknown person a chance.  Now he pulls this racial crap and it makes me ashamed to be black and more ashamed that I was conned into his lies and voted for him. (even the NAACP is criticizing this).  It's not about race??????  Tell me another one.

of COURSE IT WAS ABOUT RACE!
I do admit not for EVERYONE... i mean some people really believed the HOPE and CHANGE and "YES WE CAN"
Then there are those... that simply voted for him for the color of his skin.

Why is it about race? (sm)

Because of the following, which has been well known for hundreds of years now.  This form of racism was established in the American culture by white people, some of whom now deny its existence.

Subconscious mental connection between blacks, apes may reinforce subtle discrimination

March 5th, 2008 in Medicine & Health / Psychology

Many U.S. citizens may not hold openly racist beliefs today, but they still may subconsciously link African Americans with apes because people still use words and metaphors that subtly reinforce a less-than-human bias and endorse violence against Blacks, according to a new study.

"Historical racist images and books dehumanizing African Americans in the 19th and early 20th century relied heavily on the Negro-ape metaphor, which was used to stereotype Blacks as lazy, dim and aggressive," said lead author Phillip Atiba Goff, assistant professor of psychology at Penn State. "Such dehumanization and animal imagery have been used for centuries to justify violence against many oppressed groups.

"The images have disappeared from popular culture and from most people's memory," he added. "However, after completing six studies, we found strong evidence that Black-ape linkages still influence people subconsciously and impact their judgment particularly in the case of African American suspects and defendants."

The study's findings are published in the paper, "Not Yet Human: Implicit Knowledge, Historical Dehumanization and Contemporary Consequences," in a recent issue (February) of Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, which is published by the American Psychological Association.

Goff and fellow researchers Jennifer Eberhardt, associate professor of psychology at Stanford University; Matthew C. Jackson and Melissa J. Williams, graduate students at Penn State and Berkeley, respectively, conducted six studies of college-age students. They found that participants – even those with no stated prejudices or knowledge of the historical images – were quicker to associate Blacks with apes than they were to associate Whites with apes.

Goff and fellow researchers Jennifer Eberhardt, associate professor of psychology at Stanford University, Matthew C. Jackson and Melissa J. Williams, graduate students at Penn State and Berkeley, respectively, conducted six studies of White college-age students. They found that participants – even those with no stated prejudices or knowledge of the historical images -- were quicker to associate Blacks with apes than they were to associate Whites with apes.

In the first three studies, researchers subliminally flashed Black or White male faces on a screen for a fraction of a second to "prime" the participants, who could identify blurry ape drawings much faster after they were primed with Black faces than with White faces.

So it is all about race, huh?
so pathetic.
It's always going to be about race
There is no changing that.
Bible not bad book at all...
...and should have its basic tenets taught right alongside of those of the Qur'an and the holy books of all other major world religions. Students of any age who wish to read the Bible in my opinion should certainly be able to do so anytime they wish. Same for all other holy/religious writings. A person's education really isn't complete without a fundamental understanding of all of the religions that shape our world.

I would however sign any petition that forces anyone to do anything in the spirit of indoctrination or exclusion, or against any requirement that implies that THIS is the one true holy book and you WILL read it even if your negligent atheist going-to-hell-parents wouldn't force you to do it at home (and we're coming for them soon too - better join us if you know what's good for you). Unfortunately that is how this kind of requirement is perceived by many people in our current political climate - including me. And unfortunately, I believe this is exactly the attitude held by those who try to force such requirements into the public schools.

I don't think it qualifies as a "random act of kindness" - but rather as a deliberate act of religious supremacism.

I can see the title of her next book now...sm
*The Liberals Took My Voting Rights.* She's such a nutjob!
But every book she writes goes to #1. sm
She is unbelievably wealthy and she can always fall back on her law degree.  I don't think she is hurting.
Woodward's book

Cannot wait to read Woodward's new book, however, most of us with eyes wide open have known this even before Bush's war.

YIPES!  Foley..what were you thinking?  Do as I say, not as I do?

Concerning Chavez's remarks.  What better place to scream and holler than at the UN?  There have been many heated debates and speeches over the years.  Secondly, America, land of freedom and free speech, even for foreigners.  I have no problems with what Chavez said, in fact, I agree with him.  The democratic leaders who spoke out against Chavez and defended the president need to realize that if the shoe was on the other foot, do they actually think Bush, Cheney, Rove, Snow, Rice, Rumsfeld would defend them?  Republicans play dirty, there is proof of that all around, Democrats try not to, however, it has gotten us no where.  It is time to play as dirty as the other side.  Chavez did not state lies, he stated the truth.  If you do not agree, explain then our foreign policy for the last 50+ years, explain our presence in Iraq, even as most Iraqi's are wanting us out or dead.  Bringing Democracy to Iraq, oh please. You cannot force an ideology on people with the barrel of a gun.  When we do leave Iraq, whenever that is, it will not resemble any type of Democracy that we have ever seen.  We have given a gift to Iran with our invasion of Iraq.

Book Proceeds
Yep, was just posting information. Funneling the money to the kids is a way to get the book published. I am sure there are under-the-counter things going on, and I figure the Brown and Goldman families will tie it up anyway as well they should. As to those poor kids...I don't know if there are anough couches in the US to fix them. And that sociopath father of theirs could not care less. If he cared one whit about those kids he would not have murdered their mother and left her mutilated body lying on the sidewalk for them to possibly find. Sick, sick puppy.
That is unsubstantiated....out of a book some...
guy wrote who said "three Arizona reports on condition of anonymity" told him they overheard it. Chalk this one up to unsubstantiated rumor in my books. If someone knows of a link where McCain admitted this, I would be interested in it. If it is true, she should have slapped the cr*p out of him. I am not so naive as to think that other Presidents have not called their wives foul names and vice versa. I can just imagine during the Clinton years.... lol ....remember all the unsubstantiated rumors about Hillary using the "F" word to the secret service people and calling them all kinds of names? I think that is what is happening here. Any time someone says they speak on condition of anonymity makes me suspicious out of the gate.
