Oooh yeah, that's believable. Now that the ball has most definitely flown your court, you want to make sure EVERYBODY plays by the rules. Well let us tell you, the time to be polite was years ago, bucko, and your side blew its credibility in that respect. It was your senseless rampages that tore the political fabric of this nation from stem to stern - over NOTHING. So just sit back, shutty as they say on the main board, and take it on the chin like you deserve.

These are the same Bush worshippers who go around spouting "My God is better than your God," who didn't care when Bush claimed to have a direct line to God, who told Bush to (1) run for President and (2) invade and occupy a country that hadn't attacked us.
I've NEVER heard Obama claim that God "says" things to him. He's looking to the American will of the people to come together to do GOOD things for this country.
I think they're all sore because they hoped Bush would bring about the "Rapture," swoop them all up and leave the rest of us losers down here. (I admit, at times, under Bush, I wished someone would swoop ME up and take me outta here, as well. In fact, in all honesty, I wished my fatal disease would hurry up and just take my life already.)
Under Bush, people lost hope. People lost jobs. People lost their own money when it was stolen by Wall Street, which Bush rewarded.
Bush never once cared about normal, everyday people. In fact, he did his best to try to make the middle class extinct. Obama SEES this. He SEES that millions of Americans are losing jobs, don't have health insurance, and can barely afford to feed their families. He wants to FIX this.
To me, he's the good guy. To them, he's some sort of Anti-Christ because he wants to do GOOD things for people.
I'm seriously fearful that someone of the ilk of some of these posters will see to it that Obama is killed. Maybe God will "tell" someone to do that, like God "told" Bush to invade Iraq.
We're living in very dangerous times indeed, but it seems like the terrorists we need to worry about MOST right now are the homegrown ones.

Senators look for a wealthy casualty of Katrina as evidence against the estate tax

Federal troops aren't the only ones looking for bodies on the Gulf Coast. On Sept. 9, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions called his old law professor Harold Apolinsky, co-author of Sessions' legislation repealing the federal estate tax, which was encountering sudden resistance on the Hill. Sessions had an idea to revitalize their cause, which he left on Apolinsky's voice mail: [Arizona Sen.] Jon Kyl and I were talking about the estate tax. If we knew anybody that owned a business that lost life in the storm, that would be something we could push back with.
If legislative ambulance chasing looks like a desperate measure, for the backers of repealing the estate tax, these are desperate times. Just three weeks ago, their long-sought goal of repeal seemed within reach, but Katrina dashed their hopes when Republican leaders put off an expected vote. After hearing from Sessions, Apolinsky, an estate tax lawyer who says his firm includes three multi-billionaires among its clients, mobilized the American Family Business Institute, a Washington-based group devoted to estate tax repeal. They reached out to members along the Gulf Coast to hunt for the dead.
It's been hard. Only a tiny percentage of people are affected by the estate tax—in 2001 only 534 Alabamans were subject to it. And for Hill backers of repeal, that's only part of the problem. Last year, the tax brought in $24.8 billion to the federal government. With Katrina's cost soaring, estate tax opponents need to find a way to make up the potential lost income. For now, getting repeal back on the agenda may depend on Apolinsky and his team of estate-sniffing sleuths, who are searching Internet obituaries among other places. Has he found any victims of both the hurricane and the estate tax? Not yet, Apolinsky says. But I'm still looking.—with reporting by Amanda Ripley/Washington

Exercise in futility - as you can see by the comments below, they don't seem interested in imagining what is happening to their own country. Actually sometimes I think they don't give a XXXX. Spying on Americans, arresting dissenters, confirming activist judges with pro-corporate, pro-governmental-power agendas, trashing the Constitution in favor of fabricated time of war emergency - all that's just dandy. Goes right along with how they think the USA should be. Why bother themselves to imagine where all this leads?
And, why bother themselves to consider what major role they are playing in assisting and abetting the murder of America?

Repubs always gripe about "politicizing" -
I would venture to guess that the Kings know more than any nay-sayer about politics and how it can affect a life - no reason whatsoever to exclude politics from a service in Mrs. King's honor. And judging by the reactions of the crowd, all comments were received in the spirit offered and were much agreed with and appreciated. You don't give standing ovations otherwise.
In mentioning long, lengthy, hop-on-the-bandwagon, take-every-chance-to-get-your-word-in, excessively drawn-out and tiresomely-exaggerated, politicized and moronic tripe-ridden ceremonies however, one name does come to mind.... Reagan! Now I think he was a decent guy, even if he chose to ignore the sharks and jackals around him who were busy at genocide - but weeks and weeks? Seven hours would have been just fine for that one too, I'm sure you'd agree.

But also learned another curious thing tonight - several people have told me they can't buy any ammunition for their guns, I think they told me AR15's or whatever the civilian model of an M16 is? - they said the rounds are not available by mail or at stores and they are told it's all being stopped at the ports and sent to Iraq. Say what??
Anybody else having a similar experience or know anything else about this? Would be curious to know if the situation in Iraq is really so bad that all civilian ammo has to be confiscated so it can be sent there.

this is a Dem mess. Lay it right at the feet of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and the dems who blocked reform on Fannie/Freddie at least 2 times when Alan Greenspan, John Snow, John McCain and the Bush admin telling them this exact thing was going to happen. It is all on video. I would cut them a modicum of slack if they at least admitted it, but oh no...it's all the republicans fault. Geez! How anyone could vote for ANY Democrat this round is beyond me. If I was a Democrat I wouldn't be voting for them either. At least 92 of them are worried about their jobs because the people are so PO'ed about it...they voted against it. And had Pelosi not come out BEFORE the vote tearing the hide of republicans in strips and blaming them for it yet again...she messed in her own nest. A bunch of Republicans weren't going to vote for it anyway, but the ones who would have didn't.
Need advice from Dems and Repubs sm
I am a swing voter. I am one who is on the fence about who to vote for. Here is my problem. I am finding that this year's presidential election is separating people. Republicans seem to be a little angrier lately since Obama leads in the pools. Dems are not as angry BUT they are very firm in their political choice. I am finding that I cannot have a discussion with anyone about this election. If I say anything about Palin, repubs jump all over me. If I question Biden, dems are horrified. I do want to vote. I will figure it all out through my own research. My question for everyone today is how do I stay friends with people during all this? Any words of advice will be appreciated as I found my self in tears this morning.

what all they put into this bailout bill? I'm half scared to know what all kind of crap they put in there to entice some of these politicians to vote for it. What was in it for them that they finally said "yea" to?
When Dodd gave a speech about the bill last night, I wanted to throw something at the TV. He was all praising the people who are to blame for this and saying that they were such great help during these proceedings. He is lucky I couldn't reach through the TV and choke him.

If necessary we will heat our home totally with fireplaces. Plenty of wood and a good outdoor kitchen of Dutch ovens so we can feast without a speck of energy. Might not like it too much but we could survive with kerosene lamps for light of which we have a number. No internet but oh well......
Has anyone thought that just eating may be a problem? Someone mentioned $10 loaf of bread. We are among the fortunate who live on a farm. We have farm animals and an abundance of wildlife. We know how to raise a garden and how to roam over the hills and gather wild food that is etable. If we enter the next GREAT DEPRESSION, we'll be fine....provided we can keep those who don't have a clue of how to survive from stealing from us. Might be a good time to read up on the Foxfire series of books instead of spending so much time squabbling about who will be the best (WORST) president.

I am worried about our country. My friend is in the military and he said that people in his unit are split now over this election. Not dem versus repub but black versus white. It is bringing out the worst in people, fueling deeply hidden racism, on both sides, and bringing it to the surface. He said that it is getting so bad they are actually fighting, he said like ready to kill eachother. They are forbidden to talk about politics. Scary, this is just one unit in small part of America. What is going to happen if he doesnt win. What is going to happen if he does?

Acorn had paid people signing up new voters. The people signed up a lot of fakes because they were paid by the number of new voters they signed on. The fakes cannot vote so there is no threat. What the repubs are building a case about is that Acorn is criminal (which they are NOT) and repubs want to throw out all those millions of new voters. Because the landslide is going to be so humiliating. Even throwing out Acorn wouldn't help McCain.

Worried about Rove?
Am worried about Roe v Wade, but not about Rove. He is not worry-worthy - way too much effort. I AM concerned that nothing will happen to any of them that are involved in Plamegate unless it is some third-string low-on-the-totem-pole flunkie who will be completely blindsided when he gets blamed/fired/arrested. This shadow administration is far more evolved than the Nixon guys. I predict nothing will happen to them but what is worse, we have been lied to so often for the last 4+ years that most of us won't even care. They are going to do what they are going to do...the end. Here in Florida we voted last election for smaller class sizes and not to build a bullet-train between Tampa and Orlando. Jeb just changed both of those things. We are building the train set up and class sizes stay the same. I wonder why we vote on these amendments at all. What difference does it make? And so it is with D.C. It has not mattered for so long what a great number of us have felt about Iraq and all the lies surrounding it. They just do what they want. And before anyone says "we elected him" as a plausible argument, 51% is not a mandate. One half of this country is on the other side. Our country does not deserve the autocratic theocratic government that has been forced upon us. When the shoe is inevitably on the other foot I suspect you won't like it either.

I'm only saying this because a few years ago, I worked for a company that (I believe) didn't offshore, and on one of my jobs, the patient had the very same name as a prominent Washington politician who was considering running for President.
I kind of giggled and thought the patient must get teased a lot for having the same name. I realized that, as lawmakers, certainly their medical information would be very secure. I stopped giggling when I got to the "Social History" where the patient's occupation was revealed, and I realized that the patient was indeed that politician.
Fortunately, that politician's note was transcribed by an American transcriptionist, but it seemed to be by the luck of the draw, rather than by rule.
After 9/11, I can't believe this country is still so careless. 
I have always been worried about Russia
There was a great quote from 40 or 20 years ago, from a Russian professor, I'll have to search for it. But, basically it said something like, "We will bring them in with good will and kindness, and then we will crush them with our iron fist!"
However, the issue with Russia doesn't raise any concerns over Obama with me. Maybe he can use a little diplomacy instead of just trying to bomb everything off the map, lol!

I do not mean to sound churchy, but I have been brought up that it states in the Bible that Russia (known as another name in Bible, but shows it on a map where Russia is) to be very worried. When the country Russia comes into play, need to worry about Amargeddon, The End Times. Not the countries of Iran, North Korea, etc., but Russia. Yes, I am concerned about Russia.
