Thank you Just the Big Bad

Okay, gotta ask...just the big bad what? HA HA. I think of Little Red Riding Hood.

Thank you for your words. I think overall I'm fine about Obama being President (didn't have much else of a choice), but everytime I hear him speak all that keeps slapping me in the face is him constantly bringing up the race issue. What really got to me was seeing the Trail Maids. That is slavery to the core. I even watched that little video tape and they were even saying it does not give them a very good name. It's got slavery written all over it. When I see the costumes I don't think of southern belles or anything so innocent. When I see them in their costumes I'm instantly reminded of the stories of (not my relatives, but friends relatives) who talked about what it was like to be a slave and that is the first thing I think of (plus from what I've seen in movies). I look at the costumes and think of the crosses burning on front lawns, KKK, lynchings, hangings, etc. It's a horrible and disgusting time in our history and here comes Mr. Obama reminding us. This is not sending a positive message. Why can't they be dressed up in another costume that would be fitting. When people see them they don't look at them for the "oh what cute costumes they are" I'm looking at them looking for their slaves who shouldn't be too far behind them in their chains and worn out raggedy clothes. This is not a positive message to start his term with, and costumes like this should be kept in a museum next to the shackles, whips, branding irons they used on their slaves in.

I'm all for a better president and a new time, but he really needs to leave the race issue alone. He still has time to say to the Trail Maids that they are welcome but wear something other than a plantation slave-owner costume.
