The operative phrase "due to no fault of their own"

Posted By: Emily Ayn on 2009-01-12
In Reply to: handicapped and mentally ill - sm

and then there's the millions of others that are just LAZY

I have no problem helping the disabled or even someone that lost their job and has some hard times...

My problem is those that choose not to better themselves BECAUSE of these handouts.

Dont tell me I deserve to work my ASS OFF to pay for these people to live.

I have a huge heart, and I don't make much money even after working hard, and I choose to give it to the charities of my choice, which is the way it should be, not TAKEN from me to give to people that DONT want to better themselves.

FORMER being the operative word here,
I think that is where the system WORKED.  Welfare shouldn't be a lifestyle.  It should be temporary.  He is a WORKING American now.  End of story.
The key operative word here being

Mesmerized being the operative word...lol. nm

Out of control being the operative words....
said control denied JOhn McCain and republicans by democrats.
The operative word in your post
It comes as no surprise that when a person frequents the same blog sites over and over and over, focuses on and seeks out only those sources which support a given viewpoint, that the view would "seem pretty large."

Mainstream media LOVES a good scandal. One only has to review the recent coverage of cabinet appointees to verify the truth of that statement. They place inordinate amounts of emphasis on negativity and "problems" that might be encountered with a nominee and somehow fail to give equal time to the more positive aspects, strategies behind the selection process or analysis of possible scenarios of opinions, advice and policy initiatives (the real meat behind the circumstance) that would emerge from such an administration. Having said that, at the same time they DO have to uphold certain principles of ethics in their reporting. IF the BC issue had any semblence of legitimacy, they would be all over it. We would be getting wall-to-wall, night and day "breaking news" coverage for weeks on end. It is curious that you do not say exactly who is "telling" them not to cover it. Guess that means you cannot back it up with any sort of fact.

Hawaiian authorities are simply following their own legal framework and abiding by the release of information policies of their state. No deep dark hidden agenda in that since there is no boat to rock. The fact that Californian electorates are parties to suits against Obama only goes to show us all that there is no end to the ridicule the plaintiffs are willing to bring down upon themselves in their attempt to overthrow a legitimate election result.

Judges in the lower courts have been unanimous and consistent in the decisions they have rendered and, again, it is curious that you have provided no specifics on just who has "bought them out" and what they are afraid of....perhaps for the same reason...no available proof to the allegations.

Please spare me any concern you may feign over "civil unrest." That is precisely the goal of these legal proceedings...the same tired failing tactics used in the McC camp that failed during the election process. Unless and until the pub party understands their own pressing mandate to CLEAN HOUSE, find some new leadership and perform a platform transplant, they are doomed to lose future elections, especially if they continue to try to rely on Rovian campaign stategies.

Like I said, this is much more miniscule than you are able to imagine despite the mountains of paranoid delusions you have examined on fringe blog sites. Give up this folly and move on...the sooner, the better.
MAJORITY is the operative word, friend.
They could have passed this bailout bill on their own if they wanted to. The President can't vote.

"Fooling people was the key to the job" according to one worker.

key phrase

" as far as I am concerned. . . "  Remember Britney Spears and Paris Hilton everybody!!!!

You like that phrase it seems. He WAS on vacation. sm
I don't know where you have been but he has been making speeches about the Hurricaine all weekend before it even hit and pledged support, etc.  So obviously, he may have been officially on vacation, but he wasn't in any way.  Do you watch TV.  He's been all over it.  Get over your own bad self.
I have never personally used that phrase myself. sm
But then, I am sure someone will expend a huge amount of energy to prove me wrong.
I'm thinking of a phrase...
oh yeah - "When pigs fly."
The second amendment phrase that

gun control supporters always fall back on is ''well regulated militia''.  But the militia back then was considered to be all able-bodied males capable of fighting.  Also, having had such recent experience with the tyranny of an out-of-control government, our founders wiisely built the right to possess and bear arms into our constitution to make sure our new government did not become too big for its britches.

I believe it was in Justice Scalia's opinion on the Heller case (or maybe in his questioning of the pro-gun-control attorney)  that I read something to the effect that in revolutionary war times firearms were necessary to procure food and also to protect ourselves and families from hostile attacks, bears, wolves, and other predators.  Nowadays most of us don't have to fight off wild animals anymore; the predators have become.....us.

One phrase cracked me up in your post - sm
"whether you believe in God or not as a liberal" - What? If someone is liberal, they don't believe in GOD?...
I may not believe in the same God as you (or the same concept of God is probably a better way to put it), but I don't believe liberals are any more "godless" than anyone else. I know this is off topic and I don't mean to create a stir by posting it, but it seems so "typically conservative" to make assumptions such as this.
Just google the phrase, JTBB.......sm
There's lots there.

Nothing personal, but I don't feel like being derided by anyone today for my opinions.

In fact, I'm thinking of taking a break from this board, as I doubt I would really be missed, anyway.

Salisbury is the one who first coined this phrase,.
So he probably knows what he is talking about, at least from that liberal viewpoint you are so quick to deride. Michael Savage has a different, more conservative interpretation. Good for him. Now that we have established the fact there are at least two opposing views on the same concept, the logical next step would be to respectfully discuss the pros and cons of each and get beyond the tacit dismissal.
Using the phrase "drinking Kool-Aid"
On November 18, 1978, 909 inhabitants of Jonestown, 276 of them children, died of apparent cyanide poisoning, mostly in and around a pavilion. This resulted in the greatest single loss of American civilian life in a non-natural disaster until the September 11, 2001 attacks. Jones and several members argued that the group should commit "revolutionary suicide" by drinking cyanide-laced grape flavored Flavor Aid (often misidentified as Kool-Aid) along with a sedative.

Out of respect for the nearly 1000 innocent Christians who tragically died in Jonestown, I would like to ask the posters of this forum to find another phrase to use other than "drinking Kool-Aid" to describe a person's political beliefs. It is insulting and disrespectful to the memory of those that died in Jonestown to use this expression so flippantly.

JMHO
Well, at least you have a new catch phrase. Don't wear it out now, ya hear? nm

McCain did say this in the primaries several times - same phrase exactly - nm
x
Okie dokie. I am just reminded of the old phrase...
be careful what you ask for. But I do have a question...Obama has said forcefully that if he ends Iraq the war will go on in Afghanistan...so you are still going to have a war. Where the war is makes the difference? We are still going to be spending billions. The fact that it will be in Afghanistan and not Iraq makes the difference?

We are getting ready to spend billions bailing out the mess that Democrats created. No, Republicans have actually been bringing this mess up, screaming warnings about it, and the only thing this Democratic congress has done was pass a housing bill this time that further encouraged giving out those bad loans. Republicans were against it, but the Dems have the majority. Soooo...here we are. I do blame one Republican, George Bush, for signing it. He should have vetoed it.

How you can ignore something that huge and trust the fox to run the chicken house...I will be the first to say...I certainly do not understand it. But your vote is YOURS, and you should use it however you wish to.
A phrase rings in my ears too...Can't see the forest...
for the trees. And they can't.
You lost me at Dems coined the phrase

If you didn't realize that the expression voodoo economics wasn't coined by Dems, then it makes me wonder how many other things you just don't realize this administration, the previous administration, or politics in general.

The phrase voodoo economics was coined by George H.W. Bush in a debate with Ronald Reagan.  The phrase trickle-down economics is not a good thing, as you might have it sound.  It's a derogatory phrase that was first used by Republicans as a criticism regarding a dam project John F. Kennedy had planned.  He actually was the one who initiated this theory that when the GDP grows, the incomes of all American's will grow.  He coined the phrase "a rising tide lifts all boats" when referring to this economic theory, and it was the GOP that countered saying it was trickle-down economics.

If you can't get that right, it makes me wonder how you can judge what is right or wrong with what this administration or the last administration does or has done.

You always forget the phrase *under oath*, which is what lost him his law license sm
and the respect of the Supreme Court Justices who for the first time in history, did not attend the State of the Union address of a sitting president.  But I guess all that is okay, too.
We were, you changed it to Bush hatred, another bin Coulter phrase.nm
zz
That "my friends" phrase, so oft-repeated, made him

Nobody called SP a pig. Phrase means JM can call change "change,"
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. JM can call change "change," but he is still 4 more years of W. SP is the one who is running on the lipstick platform. That's why her supporters are trying to accuse O of calling her a pig.
It's always somebody else's fault

You are all weenie victims...

Who is at fault? WH

But the fault does not
lie with the left, much as you would have it be. We should never have been in Viet Nam and we should never have been in Iraq. We will leave someday and the chaos will just continue and worsen.  You can blame the left all you want for Viet Nam and its aftermath but in this war, the American people are disgusted with it and sick of it and angry at being manipulated and flat-out lied to. It is not us out in the streets protesting. So when the Iraqi citizens become worse off than they are now which is pretty awful, you cannot blame the left. We have no power. We do not demonstrate and those few that try are banished to some **pen** a mile away from where anyone can see or hear them.  What will change hopefully with this election is that the next administration is not as oil-hungry as this one is. It is the prospect of losing our presence and influence in those oil-rich countries that keeps the war going...and surprisingly the Emerald City seems to mimic Saddam's palace. It is huge, everything works. They have electricity, they have water, they have food, they have air conditioning while the soldiers have not enough of anything and the Iraqi people even less. No wonder so many of them want the **occupiers** out of there.  None of this is the fault of the left. This time things have gone sour due to incompetence, nothing else, certainly not the left. We have no influence or power and even if we did, we would be ignored. This is a real case of taxation without representation for us. Wish I could think of something appropriate to pour into Tampa Bay.
Okay...so it is our fault
that Obama dressed like a terrorist?
And this is their fault because....nm?
//
You got it - and of course it will never be the O's fault
I know, it will be Bush's fault. Whatever hasn't happened yet, lets blame it on Bush. The crats are going to.
Then it's their own fault
No one is holding them back, but nobody is going to do it for them. They have to apply themselves like everyone else in America.

This country was built on the belief that no matter who you or where you come from, if you work hard you can make it.

Sometimes you have to try and try again, but nobody is holding them back but their own self limitation.

Playing the victim never got anybody anywhere. It's time to give up that old tired excuse and work hard just like everyone else has done all along.

Sorry if reality hurts, but it's the truth.
It's not BB's fault, he only knows what MSN wants him to know!! sm
He is just displaying exactly what they do on MSN; make fun of others and keep em' laughing.  Fortunately there are fewer and fewer people that still believe any of MSN's stories.  For the ones who are left they will be smacked in the face with the truth later and then get ticked off at MSN for not telling them the real stories or truth.
9/11 Bush's fault
9/11 scenario being rewritten?  LOL, in your dreams.  We had many warnings about an attack but guess where Bush was??  On vacation.  Well, actually he is on vacation 24/7, if you ask me.  A FIVE WEEK VACATION, OMG!!  This administration failed us with the attack on 9/11.  A captain goes down with his ship.  Bush is the captain of this administration, hence, he takes the blame..Not Clinton, not the democrats, BUSH.  OMG, we were being attacked and where was Bush, reading a childrens book in Florida and then flying around, too afraid to land when we the people are vulnerable for attack.  But, my concern right now is not 9/11.  That has already happened.  My concern is the terrorist country Bush has created with his illegal immoral criminal invasion of Iraq.  Now we have to worry for decades to come due to his and Cheneys actions of invading Iraq.  What really makes me shake my head in disbelief, is that so unbelieveably insane Cheney is still trying to justify this war and link it up to 9/11.  This country is in a sorry state.  Im ashamed, concerned, frightened and disillusioned by America right now..and dont use the republican argument, liberals always blame America first..I blame whomever or whatever is the cause of the problem and right now America has caused this major global terrorist problem, our major deficit with billions going to Iraq monthly, our thousands dead, tens of thousands of Iraqis dead, disrespect throughout the world and a nonending war for the future, not to mention at home outsourcing of jobs, which Bush says is a good thing, gas prices going through the roof, millions going without health insurance..but hey, Bush is a good president, hun?....NOT.  This situation Bush has put us into will haunt us for decades to come..
Yes, the fault lies with me.

I was able to get the link to work.  You were not.  So something is wrong with me.

So typical.

Uh....when have you admitted a fault...
or fallacy, piglet?

Threatened...? Nope. Mildly amused. You two obviously feel the need to have each other to pile on; that certainly sounds more like feeling threatened than anything I have done.

I think you mean what do I feel about comradery that is distasteful not tasteful..?? I did not say it was distasteful at all! I said it was amusing. And it is. You enjoy ridiculing and find it humorous. You have that in common, and I find that amusing. I am allowed.

Distasteful joke? Oh COME on. Geez. Some of the things guys have posted and guffawed here about actual people by name and you call me distasteful?? Apparently Whorn at least has a sense of humor. Belittled an entire human race? An entire human race? I thought there was only one...human race that it is.
You are really reaching on that one. If one cannot poke fun at Osama Bin Laden without you getting all up in arms about "an entire human race..."

You are always good for a laugh, piglet. To use your own words...guffaw.
its obama's fault

wait and see.

Nah, it's Edwards fault cuz
they was havin' illicit sex, too! Can you imagine big oil and the dept of interior in bed together!!!!!!!   Boggles the mind!!!!!
I understand. However, is that the fault...
of people who worked hard to get where THEY are? That their income should be cut in order to supplement mine? I'm sorry; I don't think so. I think redistribution is wrong. And it affects all of us, because as the top starts to come down we get forced out of the middle class and into the lower class. They will be the new middle class, and the "wealth" will be GOVERNMENT-CONTROLLED at the top. That extra taxation goes to the government, not directly to you. That is what happened in Venezuela...Chavez. Castro...Cuba. That is what happens with socialism. Because once the government controls everything, they dole it out as they see fit, "taking care" of us (socialism), apparently because they think they know what is better for us than WE do. I for one do not want to relinquish that kind of control to the government.
I get it. You don't care whose fault it is....
unless of course those had been Republicans on the video. Then you would be singing a much different tune. I see where you are coming from. Got it.
don't you know, everything is his fault...I stubbed my toe...
obama's fault...

The guy who said it was their own fault was spot on...SM

We see on here naive individuals who say "it can't happen here, we have the second amendment". These people are our enemy within.

Many nations are now disarmed and the United Nations goal is the ban of all small arms. Do you know anyone who likes the United Nations? That's right the messiah.

Some interesting Hitler quotes. A few years ago many could be found. today it's tougher to find them, and the one about gun control that was common 20 years ago some sites say is false. Most of his gun control quotes are missing. Interesting.

This one is reported true from one site:

Quote:
This year will go down in history! For the first time a civilised nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead in the future!” Adolph Hitler, 1935.

Yet reported as false from another. I think the first I seen this quote was in the early 1980's. Two years ago it was common on the internet. When I first seen it years ago the date and place were also included. Was it false, or what gives.

I checked further and found this in a historical reference.

Quote:
The Nazis did pass a weapons law in 1938, but that only added restrictions to the previous law, especially for Jews and other "non-citizens."

They say a very restrictive law was already in place and did not require Hitler to do anything but strengthen it.

Quote:
This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!

The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms.

If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.

I use emotion for the many and reserve reason for the few.

Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it.

Sooner will a camel pass through a needle's eye than a great man be "discovered" by an election.

Sooner will a camel pass through a needle's eye than a great man be "discovered" by an election.

What good fortune for governments that the people do not think.

When an opponent declares, "I will not come over to your side," I calmly say, "Your child belongs to us already... What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community."
Adolf Hitler
Speech November 1933, quoted in The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William Shirer

What luck for rulers, that men do not think.

So are you now saying that it is Obama's fault
didn't sue him earlier? If he was so concerned about the Constitution, why did he not challenge Obama BEFORE he was nominated? Let me help you with this one. That would be because never in his wildest imagination could he believe that HC, his favored candidate, would not be nominated. This paricular lawsuit is politically motived by a disaffected HC supporter who is now in over his head and is trying to vindicate what is left of his tarnished reputation. If he had a real case, he would not be basing his action on "standing" and "harm" claims, but rather would not hesitate to PROVE once and for all that the BC is not valid. The burden of proof is on him. He can't do it. The judge dismissed him. The US Secretary of State upheld Obama's eligibility. The only place this can end up now in terms of political gain would be the Congress...after the election.
That is their fault. They have been in trouble for
nm
Oh, I see. It's all the Democrats fault.

It's McCain's fault....(sm)
He said during his campaign that he knew how to get Osama bin Laden.  Has he known how to do this all along?  I guess since he didn't get elected he's not willing to share that info.....ROFL..
So then how is that Bush's fault?????
Doesn't make sense.
It's probably Bush's fault! nm

So It's the Democrats' Fault?
Being on welfare has nothing to do with the party system in this country.

This is not a problem that was created by any one party, nor can it be solved by any one party.

Until the Republicans quit trying to see everyting as Us versus Them, nothing is ever going to be accomplished in this country. I'm getting tired of the Republicans in this country being so divisive.

How about using that energy for the GOOD of EVERYONE. Stop seeing things through party-line glasses.
