Bush lied and thousands died!

Reaping the rewards.

Bush lied and our brave patriotic soldiers died..PERIOD
Of course Bush lied about WMD and the threat of Iraq..He needed a reason to invade Iraq..If you would do some research you would find many papers that document meetings between Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle and others who devised a way to take over the Middle East in the 1990's..all they needed was a way to present it to the American people, as we would not allow our children to die for no reason.  With 9/11, they got the reason and tried to tie up 9/11 with Iraq..I, frankly, think they also had a hand in 9/11..For any who poo poo this..I ask you to do some surfing on the Northwoods Operation..same kind of thing, only in the 1960's..Let a few CIA Hispanic/Cuban operatives invade a few curise ships on Floridas coast, kill a few Americans and we would definitely agree to invading Cuba and killing Casto..Our govt did not agree to it, however, 9/11 seems to me like an updated plan..there are many who also wonder was this an inside job..
Why would they want to protect him.
He admitted his guilt.  Once you admit guilt, you have no rights as you are guilty.
Protect all holes when

Bill has a cigar in hand!!!

FIRE ON THE HOLE!!!

Absolutely we do......to protect ourselves from those
who don't work, who steal, kill, and can't wait to get my free money handouts from the government that will steal even MORE from me.
Laws protect more than that...
You don't have to be a citizen in the United States to be protected from being murdered. You just have to be human and alive, both of which can also be said of UNBORN CHILDREN. Or are we to believe that a tourist, or a person who is NOT a natural born citizen of the United States, is NOT protected from being murdered? Can I just go out and kill anybody I want to just because they aren't citizens? Ahhh, no. I don't think so.

And the whole "mind your own business" argument doesn't hold water. A human life is taken during an abortion, the same as when it is taken during a murder. Are we all to just "mind our own business" and "just don't kill anybody?" No, it doesn't work that way. Just because you don't choose to kill someone, or have an abortion, doesn't mean we can just "live and let live" - particularly since people who commit abortions and murders DON'T let their victim live...at all.

These are exactly the types of arguments/mantra that have been spewed from the mouths of people who TRY to make us believe this is a women's issue to help us make a choice about "our bodies." If it was only my body, I would agree. But it is not my body that is being killed. It is my child. Men, women, children, citizen or not - no one has the right to take a human life.
or use them to protect the food I have.
just a thought.
Oh, poor thing.....they need you to protect them

I haven't, but my husband did to protect us both

We were younger and had went out to a party.  A guy was drinking and mixing it with pills.  He was totally out of it.  He tried to pick a fight with my husband, saying he was big and bad enough to whip the biggest guy there.  My husband was 6 foot 6 inches and about 225.  Anyway, my husband wasn't going to fight with him, and we left and came home.  We live in a rural area.  About 1/2 hour later the guy is standing out in front of our house, near the road, screaming for my husband to come out and fight or he's going to start shooting!  The next sound we hear is a shotgun racking and then he fires a shotgun blast off into the air.  OMG!!  I was terrified.  My husband shoved me off the couch and into the floor.  Then he crawled across the floor and pulled the cord on the lamp and turned off the TV, so it was dark in the house.  I had no idea what else he was doing.  I was lying on the living room flooor and had dialed 911 and was screaming for help.  Next thing I know, the guy out front fires another shot and it hits the picture window and the window shatters!

What I didn't know was my husband had went through the house, grabbed his gun out of the closet, and went out the back door.  He shot back, shooting into the air at a pear tree that guy was standing under.  It was late August and when he hit that pear tree, it rained down pears on the guy outside!  He fired one more over the guy's head as a warning and then lowered the barrel of the gun towards the guy.  The guy decided my husband was serious and ran to his truck and took off.  Luckily the police caught him about 2 miles down the road.  I had given them a description of his pickup and he passed them as they were on their way to our house.

They came to the house and talked to us.  They saw the shattered window and the shots were heard on the 911 tape along with my frantic call for help.  They told my husband they didn't blame him, they would have done the same thing, he was defending his home and family.  The guy was convicted and went to jail.  What the guy at the party didn't know was my husband was an ex-Marine trained for combat and had marksmanship medals from Marine competition.  He picked the wrong guy to try to scare with a gun!  But it was scarey.  I was scared to death. It was the most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me.  I couldn't sleep for weeks afterwards and was a nervous wreck.  I don't wish anything like that on anybody!

I don't feel like he won't protect the country.
He has just as much to lose as anyone else. Why wouldn't he protect the country.
You don't have to be a trigger-happy cowboy going around putting out fires to show your love and protection for your country. Sometimes you can actually have enough foresight, make proper choices, use good judgement and prevent fires from happening in the first place.
He'll do fine. stop worrying.

you wanna go there? Define protect
We arbitrarily attacked a country that had no solid links to the attack. That has been proven. To say it was not known then is not an arguable point because it was not known then, so again, we attacked a country without probable cause.

Since our current President has been in power, no attacks have occurred. The only attack on US soil since WW II (by a known attacker, the Japanese) has been under the power of George W. Bush, and according to you, he would be the least strongest president in the present day.

To 'protect' does not translate into an aggressive attack, especially if the attacker is not a known entity.
It's a gag order to protect the dolt
He started calling the media and proudly proclaiming his guilt, that he knew what he did, that it was part of an Islamic revenge for our presence in the middle east, ad nauseum. I can't remember if it was the DA or the judge, but they quickly threw a gag order on everything because his shooting off his mouth would likely have led to a mistrial because of the inability to find a jury that hadn't been tainted by his pretrial blathering.
Trying to PROTECT us. Dont worry, we wont

Protect us???? He did not listen to all the Intelligence Reports....sm
that a large-scale attack was imminent, his Daddy lit the flame by going over to Iraq the first time to secure Daddy Bush's and his friend's oil interests there, they did not care a FIG about the poor Kuwaitis! We are more hated as a nation now, because of the Bush policies, than we have EVER been in history, and instead if his getting Bin Ladin, as he vowed, he helped the Bin Ladin family living in LA to escape the country becaue of the wrath of the people. Speaking of Kool-Aid? Blind pubs must have bought the factory and have been living on the stuff the past 8 years, unbelievable!
Halliburton Didn't Protect Soldiers' Water
(I wonder what else they won't protect if/when they're put in charge after the Dubai deal goes through.  And I believe Bush will find a way to push it through right under Americans' noses, since I believe his loyalty lies clearly with rich Arabs and not with the safety of Americans.)

Halliburton Didn't Protect Soldiers' Water

Internal Memo Warns of 'Mass Sickness or Death'

ap

WASHINGTON (March 16) - Halliburton Co. failed to protect the water supply it is paid to purify for U.S. soldiers throughout Iraq, in one instance missing contamination that could have caused mass sickness or death, an internal company report concluded.

The report, obtained by The Associated Press, said the company failed to assemble and use its own water purification equipment, allowing contaminated water directly from the Euphrates River to be used for washing and laundry at Camp Ar Ramadi in Ramadi, Iraq.

The problems discovered last year at that site - poor training, miscommunication and lax record keeping - occurred at Halliburton's other operations throughout Iraq, the report said.

Countrywide, all camps suffer to some extent from all or some of the deficiencies noted, Wil Granger, Theatre Water Quality Manager in the war zone for Halliburton's KBR subsidiary, wrote in his May 2005 report.

AP reported earlier this year allegations from whistleblowers about the Camp Ar Ramadi incident, but Halliburton never made public Granger's internal report alleging wider problems.

The water quality expert warned Halliburton the problems will have to be dealt with at a very elevated level of management to protect health and safety of U.S. personnel.

Halliburton said Wednesday it conducted a second review last year that found no evidence of any illnesses in Iraq from water and it believes some of its earlier conclusions were incomplete and inaccurate. The company declined to release the second report.

The company said it has worked closely with the Army to develop standards and take action to ensure that the water provided in Iraq is safe and of the highest quality possible.

Halliburton was headed by Vice President Dick Cheney for several years before he ran for vice president. Its KBR subsidiary, also known as Kellogg Brown & Root, works under contract to provide a number of services to the U.S. military in Iraq, including providing water and purifying it.

The contaminated, non-chlorinated water at Ar Ramadi was discovered in March 2005 in a commode by Ben Carter, a KBR water expert at the base. In an interview, Carter said he resigned after KBR barred him from notifying the military and senior company officials about the untreated water.

A supervisor at Ar Ramadi told me to stop e-mailing company officials outside the base and warned that informing the military was none of my concern, Carter said. He said he threatened to sue if company officials didn't let him be examined to determine whether he suffered medical problems from exposure to the contaminated water.

Granger's report cited several countrywide problems:

A lack of training for key personnel. Theatre wide there is no formalized training for anyone at any level in concerns to water operations.

Confusion between KBR and military officials over their respective roles. For instance, each assumed the other would chlorinate the water at Ar Ramadi for any uses that would require the treatment.

Inadequate or nonexistent records that could have caught problems in advance. Little or no documentation was kept on water inventories, safety stand-downs, audits of water quality, deliveries, inspections and logs showing alterations or modifications to water systems.

Relying on employees the company identified as semiskilled labor, and paid as unskilled workers in the pay structure.

The report said the event at Ar Ramadi could have been prevented if KBR's Reverse Osmosis Units on the site had been assembled, instead of relying on the military's water production facilities.

This event should be considered a 'near miss' as the consequences of these actions could have been very severe resulting in mass sickness or death, Granger wrote.

The report said that KBR officials at Ar Ramadi tried to keep the contamination from senior company officials.

The event that was submitted in a report to local camp management should have been classified as a recordable occurrence and communicated to senior management in a timely manner, Granger wrote. The primary awareness to this event came through threat of domestic litigation.

Beginning last May, Halliburton said it began using its equipment to remove contaminants, bacteria, and viruses in Ar Ramadi, and disinfect the water with chlorine. The company said KBR has worked closely with the Army to develop safe water standards.

It said its subsequent review in August-September 2005 found nonpotable water used for washing was effectively filtered to remove at least 99 percent of the parasite giardia and 90 percent of viruses. The Ar Ramadi water also tested negative for bacteria, Halliburton added.

At least he won't select the Arab emirates to protect our ports

my daughter is getting

her Master degree in business.   She has a beautiful little 4-year-old son born in wedlock. I a progressive politically.  Boggles the mind doesn't it.

I would say that if my daughter...(sm)

did a study group at home but couldn't accommodate parking without bothering her neighbors, then she needs to get her behind out and go to a library or something.

I'm not saying that it's the neighbor's fault.  At this point what all of us know about this case is speculation, and that amounts to squat.  So at this point we don't know if they just had mean neighbors, or if the couple was in a war with the neighbors, or if it was or wasn't a hit against christianity, or about 100 other things that could have played into it.  That is the point of my post....to point out that this could be the result of a lot of things, not necessarily just to get at christians.  I think way too much has been assumed in this thread about the situation.

I have a soon to be 9-year-old daughter and
pregnancy and the allowance of it most certainly does concern me especially when McCain is in his 70s and not in the best of health already.  Yes, I was raised with family values and yes this absolutely does concern not only me but my husband as well.  Yes, this is a big focus right now on Governor Palin and her family values.  I'm only one voice, but one voice that is concerned about this teenage girl and it being "allowed" and "accepted."  This goes against any core family values I've learned my entire life.  Does this mean it's okay for her daughter?  Does this mean that this candidate will just "ignore" issues if she had to step in as President blaming us the country and not herself for her own misjudgements or her own "oversites?"
God bless your daughter..
for having the bravery and the courage to serve and protect us!  May God keep her safe and protected and return her safely home!
As a mom of 3 young men, I remember
vividly the day my oldest left for the Air Force. He was 19. There was no war. Then son #2 left in the National Guard in 1991 during Desert Storm.

I have to give her credit for even being able to speak, let alone hold up under fire, right after sending her son off to war!
You may be too young to remember, but that is what..sm
they said about John F. Kennedy and we all know what happened with that election and Nixon's loss, eventual election, and ultimate disgrace to our country. Most would have said Nixon was more qualified and had more experience. What do you think?
You must be quite young. It is an old saying originating..sm
from an actual doll that talked when you pulled the string. Chatty Cathy
Okay, pull it on.........young man said it with
xx
Wow you were married that young!
That's the crazy thing I read in any of your posts. LOL. Just kidding. Been with my DH since I was 18 but didn't get married until I was 25 and we decided to have kids. Good luck.
My daughter had to take out loans
and work to save money for school. No Pell Grant for her because we make too much money. I guess my money went toward your schooling. Why didn't you just take out loans instead of being handed money from government?
You must be too young to remember the 50s and 60s.
Can't get past the first laughable faulty premise that would have us believe there has never been an illegal election in the US. Discredits your entire post.
If his daughter is allergic, they may have to get
hypoallergenic trait in poodles and some other breeds is dominant and carries over to the cross-bred offspring.

I think a big, Standard Poodle would be a great First Dog! They are so much fun, yet calmer than the small dogs, and not yippy. Easily trainable, too.

But it would be cool if they could get a shelter dog. Talk about good fortune for some poor, down-and-out dog... to go from the Pound to the President's dog!
Thank god Im still young enough for someone to tell me to Grow up
LOL

PS I did not hear that on TV
My 14-year-old daughter.
The girls were together one night at a friend's house. They heard it through school that Obama family do not believe in Christmas gifts to the girls nor do they believe in giving Birthday gifts. There are also questions if Obama family believe in Thanksgiving.

Looked on line (Google) and cannot get a straight answer, just that muslims do not believe in this either. Do not know that to think and so I asked.
Did you see the one about the young guy who worked

at McDonald's for 4 1/2 years? He couldn't get another job and wanted to know what O was going to do about it. I was absolutely shocked!

You must be pretty young if you
.
So what? And to not let your daughter listen to
How bigoted is that? Children should be taught tolerance, not HATRED.
Hmm, and just how would you treat your daughter
if she said she was gay?
IMO, he has already lied about

plenty of things, but so many people are just willing to overlook that because they still believe his rhetoric.

No lobbyists would have a place in Washington when he is president.....although I believe he has 12 now.

He would go line by line to take out pork in bills, would leave them online for so many days so it could be reviewed by all, etc.  What a big lie and joke that was.

Taking a doctor's freedom away by refusing to allow him the option to refuse to perform an abortion.  People grumble and gripe about taking their freedom away and for government to stay out of their uterus and yet they have no problem with taking away the free will of a doctor.  Funny how it is wrong to take free will away from one group but it is okay to take it away from others who disagree with them.  A doctor should have a right to refuse any procedure.  The patient would just have to go to another doctor.

I don't care what Obama says or doesn't say.....I don't agree with him period.  I do not want more government programs.  I do not want more government control.  I do not want the spreading of wealth by taking it away from hardworking tax payers and giving it to moochers and illegal immigrants.  I do not want cap and trade.

You cannot buy your way out of debt and that is what our government is trying to do.  I guess when it is all said and done, we can all turn in our guns and call each other comrade.

I'd appreciate it if you would leave my daughter out of your agenda.

I mentioned nothing of her political opinions or what she "thinks." I merely said I baby-sit for her occasionally and use her computer.  for you to try to drag her into your accusations is typical of what I have seen happen on the other board.  It's inflammatory and untrue, but it's how you people seem to create your "facts." I can assure you that my daughter has her own political opinions, and she and I don't always agree, unlike you, but we at least respect each other's right to their opinion and often have respectable, interesting, informative debates with each other.  She was taught respect and learned it very well. You can't hold a candle to the intelligent, respectful young lady that she is, so don't even try because you're way out of your league. As far as going back to the conservative board, thanks, but no thanks. I've already explained my reasons for not going back there any more. People are much more respectful of differing opinions on this board.

My post to gt was simply to tell her that I understand what it's like to be accused of all sorts of things simply because you post on a board.  It happened to me on the conservative board on my first (and last) visit there, which is why I won't return.

Do I think some of the things gt said were over the top?  I sure do.  Do I understand why she said them?  My guess is that she was trying to communicate with you in the only way you seem to understand, since civil attempts don't seem to work with some of you people.  I think I can "understand" her motives, just like some of you "understand" why Eric Rudolph murdered innocent people. And between the two, I'd much rather try to "understand" gt than "Eric" (as he appears to be affectionately referred to elsewhere on this board).

They not only *prey* on young people
but they are so desperate to find kids to die in Iraq that they even take kids on drugs and teach these kids how to pass a drug test so they can get in the military.
I think you underestimate the young minds...sm
Thought I'll agree the walkout probably was not for political reasons so much so as for what they believe is right. Do you think they probably have a lot of respect for this teacher? Maybe. It is possible to be passionate about something other than cutting class as a teenager. I know I was, and so is my daughter who just turned 13.

I also have to give you the point that the teacher should have stayed on the subject matter of the class. If you're hired to teach geography then teach geograpy BUT we don't have the privlege of seeing the course outlines, book, etc. It may not be so cut and dry as capitols, states, and what have you. So before you call for his head on a plank you should at least know that much. Whose to say that this course was not comingled with history and this teacher was within his right to bring up subjects to provoke thought. I don't see the problem with that.

Listening to the message in a whole, I don't see a problem in what the teacher said excpt that he may have deviated from the subject matter. And the fact still remains that we don't know the totality of the course description.
Young soldiers I know personally and on TV. Many
many of them felt very differently when they first went to war.  After coming back they seem to come back with a very different view.  Most of the soldiers I know think the war needs to end.  I don't think most Americans think we should stop funding the war until the soldiers come home, and that's just it, many of us want them to come home!  I watched a documentary on Showtime called Semper Fi, and it was a really moving account of a proud Marine's time in Iraq.  I would definitely recommend watching it if you want to hear a first-hand account of how one patriotic soldier was disillusioned by the war and how he was given false information over and over again by his higher-ups.  I don't claim to know the solution, and I know none of the candidates on either side have the perfect solution either, but I just feel that we are not making the progress we should be making, kids' mothers and fathers are dying every day in Iraq, and it makes me incredibly sad.  Simple as that.  I don't think we have any right to be there.  I do believe we had a right to go to Afganistan, but not Iraq.  That's just my feeling, and I really don't feel like getting into a huge debate about the war.  I just want it to end.
My daughter has shunted hydrocephalus
When she was 5 years old, she had totally unexpected abrupt failure when were out of town, and required a Medflight back home and immediate surgery with her neurosurgeon. I can't imagine if we had to wait for an MRI or CT scan with her. Universal health care scares me to death.
Good luck with your daughter! sm
I have kids are older than yours and while there has not been a pregnancy, there have been other issues we have worked through that floored me and shocked me, but we got through them.

I have several friends whom are excellent parents, involved, church going, teach values ...could not ask for more.

guess what???

Their kids drink, try drugs, have sex and yes, indeed, some have gotten pregnant. I am not saying ALL teenagers do, because that is not true, BUT many, many do.

IMHO, embracing it and loving your child when something like this happens is called unconditional love. It does NOT mean that you condone it or approve. But what is done, is done.

p.s. (joke)
just how do her parents "allow it?"

Question about McCain's daughter
What is really necessary for her to look up on the internet whether or not she was adopted???   Maybe looking in the mirror may have given her a clue!   And I thought Chelsea Clinton was hard on the eyes.  At least Chelsea is educated and a good speaker.  McCain's daughter looks challenged - and I don't be sport's challenged!!   How about Cindy's hair color - ain't that pretty?
Lets her daughter get pregnant ????
I don't know ANY mother who would get up one day and say, "Gee, I would love to LET my daughter get pregnant". What do you think she should do, handcuff herself to her daughter and follow her around all day and night? Give me a break!!! There are mothers who are home all day with their daughters and they get pregnant. Who you wanna blame now!!!!

Her daughter getting pregnant does not imply sexual abuse at all....I see two hormone driven teenagers. Lets not get so carried away that just because a teenage girl gets pregnant you jump on that stupid bandwagon of believing she was abuse. I feel pretty confident in saying she was probably a willing participant....now they both have to deal with the consequences just like others from the beginning of time......
She's that young? I figured McCain was at

encouraging young people to

become involved in the election process -- can anything be more CHILLING!!!!!!

I loved him in Young Riders
He's a good actor (he can play some real creepy characters). Not sure about his political viewpoints because I'm not very conservative.
Congratulations, you have obviously raised your daughter right.
xx
Would love to be a fly on the wall if your daughter
got knocked up despite being "taught not to get pregnant". Especially if that mistake were to end up tying her for 18 years of her life to some loser guy, and all the problems that can bring.

So what exactly do you think will happen if the earth's population continues to grow at the rate it's been for the past 50-100 years? What kind of world does that leave your grandchildren? It's too crowded now - how horrible will it be when the earth's population doubles, then triples? Standing-room-only?
the reason for young chickens...
is to keep costs low, so we can afford them--remember that chicken used to be very expensive. However, withdrawal times on steroids are such that chickens are not given steroids because they won't pass FDA standards. They are fed antibiotics in their water because with SO many in one chicken house, they are very vulnerable to disease, but no growth hormones or steroids. The faster maturing birds are due to selective breeding (short gestation=fast change). That is also why everything tastes like chicken. With the faster maturing young birds we eat, the meat actually has very little taste, so it is not as much that other things taste like chicken as it is that chicken does not really taste like anything. (I spent many unhappy classed in STINKY chicken houses in college). I HATE chickens! and Turkeys! but I do like to eat them.
Can't have your cake and eat it too, don't you want your husband, son, daughter...sm
etc. to be paid what they are worth, to be paid enough they can save up and buy a home AND make the mortgage and insurance payments? Afford to feed their family without food stamps? We area a family of five, homeowners, trying to help our eldest with student loans to become a teacher, live VERY modestly, work overtime whenever we can, drive well-used cars that we OWN, and some weeks we have to put off buying medication or shampoo because we spent the family budget until the next paycheck. More working people, able to be consumers paying taxes, is one of the long-term fixes to any economy, we are not all George Bush's Halliburton and corportate/oil buddies, Japan made its working force world class by implementing higher wages, providing better benefits to workers, etc. America is way behind the times, and that is why we are in a boatload of trouble.
