Docs usually dictate "viscous lidocaine"  or "viscous Xylocaine" (I usually only hear lidocaine) but the when you research, the drugs are actually "lidocaine viscous" and "Xylocaine viscous."   The viscous is the medium through which the medication is administered.

I don't even know how to spell it.  I usually hear "prepped and draped in a sterile fashion."  What do you think?


FYI, in the "old days" when the doc said prepped, we had to change it to

S/l she is saying topical (let gel).  This is used on a 2-year-old for a laceration of the lip to help with superficial numbing.
