No, don't cap gram-negative. The test Gram stain is capitalized - per Stedmans Inf Dis Book. -s

Also, I worked in a lab for many years, and gram-negative and gram-positive are not capitalized. Gram is the name of the doctor or scientist who came up with the staining test, Gram stain, so that is capped.

Dr. says urinalysis demonstrated multiple s/l typical cocci.  Is there such a thing as typical cocci?  It actually sounds like she is saying multiple-cal cocci, as though she were combining multiple and typical.
