I often see the ASR type "open reduction internal fixation".  I was always taught it was "open reduction and internal fixationThey are 2 separate procedures as far as I know.  Am In incorrect?

ABDOMEN:  Soft, tender and redness on the left side of the patient's abdominal wall during examination.  The patient expressed feculent material coming from the ORIF incision site, along with air.


I have never heard of ORIF referring to the abdomen.  Any idea what else thise could be

In this op note, the doctor says a "one five recon plate" was trimmed to the appropriate length, and I placed a "one five" screw distally.  Would you agree this should be transcribed as 1.5 (as in mm).  He didn't say mm, and I won't go so far as to put mm in the report.

ORIF of forearm  - this dr is a great dictator and speaks very clearly but does this make sense?


The anterior approach of Henry was now performed.  Care was taken to preserve all neurovascular structures.  The fracture site was **** s/l rarely *** delineated.  A butterfly fragment was noted.  The fracture was now reduced and the butterfly component was provisionally pinned with small K-wires.
