I have never seen or typed cannula with only one N, but

Subject: I have never seen or typed cannula with only one N, but

I googled this and found:

A cannula (from Latin "little reed"; plural cannulae) or canula is a tube which can be inserted into the body, often for the delivery or removal of fluid.

It seems that canula is not wrong and can be used, but I believe cannula is preferred. That is my take.

cannula or canula?
Can someone tell me definitively which it is? I remember some time back of looking this up either in a Dorland's dictionary or some surgery book from when I worked at another hospital and finding out that these two are interchangeable. Well for years now I've been using one or the other. But I keep getting feedback from QA that "canula" is wrong. I've found several websites that confirm the use of both but just as many that say "cannula" is the only option. I don't have a Dorland's so if someone here does, please check it for me. It could very well be in the surgery book too, of which I don't have that particular one. I know I didn't pull this out of thin air.
