If you're going to be snotty, do your own credible research.

If you can document it both ways, either should work.  Really, like the doctor knows or cares how to spell it anyways.

I was just trying to be helpful because alot of MTs don't have a BOS and might not have been able to find that exception.

It is and always has been Steri-Strips.

Subject: No, I know how to research, thank you.

However, it's a verbatim account.  When QA and the doctor send it back to me telling me to do what they say, I do it no matter what my reference book or spellchecker say.  The physicians are the ones who are making up new words or combining things, not me.

But, how do you know the poster was speaking psychologically?  Really they should've typed the entire sentence for us readers, JMO.

Subject: ok...did more research...it's "pillar" sm

Apparently in CTS release, "pillar pain" is common. Found this:
After surgery, the healing edges of the ligament beneath the skin are usually tender for at least four to six weeks after the procedure. Temporary tenderness on each side of the palm where the ligament is attached to the bones on each side of the palm to these bones is common after surgery and is called "pillar pain". This generally resolves gradually. Hand therapy is often helpful during recovery.

I'm doing a psychiatric consultation by an Asian dictator, and he says this patient has been living in s/l Fiocor House or ThreeCor House for the last several months due to alcohol and drug problems.  This is for one of my accounts in Michigan.  I can't understand this pronunciation well enough to get a good s/l for Google, so what would ya'll recommend doing to find this darned term?

Subject: You are not developing her research skills

Not to flame but how is she doing it "on her own" with a full critique done here in public.  And I'll ask again, why isn't her QA helping her in the way they want her trained or giving her links to document her answers so she can research.  One learns better when one does for themselves rather than being fed by the silver spoon.
Yeah, but I believe the OP did mention that research had been done...sm
Subject: Yeah, but I believe the OP did mention that research had been done...sm

The OP had used Google and found instances of both words being used. Sounds more like the OP was looking for some help with the proper usage of the word in the context of a report. I don't see why she (or he) caught any grief for asking for opinions on the proper term to use.

Google on "degenerative disc disease" and "degenerative disk disease". I use "disc" when transcribing for my ortho clinic because, when I got the account and asked for samples, each and every sample on each and every report used "disc". No matter what your research tells you, you will do what the client says, especially when it doesn't really matter. And this does not really matter.
